My xbox gamepad isn't working in the game, but controlls for keyboard is not defined (
Could not play because although i have a 360 gamepad as soon as i press start to play i get:
Libraries/joystick.lua:47: attempt to index global 'buttonMapping' (a nil value)
Tnx for the report.
Maybe you are using an xbox wired controller; Since I don't have one, I can't be sure about the actual joypad name.. :/ I may got one in a couple of hours
I'm updating the game right now. hope you can play now.
The graphics look great, but as soon as I push a button it crashes for me as well:
Error
Libraries/joystick.lua:47:attempt to index global 'buttonMapping'(a nil value)
Traceback
Libraries/Joystick.lua:47: in function 'joystickpressed'
[C]:in function 'xpcall'
I'd recommend adding keyboard alternatives as well as doing some platform packaging and possibly deploying with the LOVE web player.
As it stands you are asking people to have LOVE installed, and have a gamepad; which is significantly limiting. Even if the game is really only fun with a gamepad, you should offer alternatives for people who don't have one.
You should really consider supporting keyboard on this! I want to try it, but I don't have a controller!
Done,
Keyboard compatibility is up and running!
If your current gamepad is giving you troubles, just unplug and use the keyboard.
Took me a while to figure it out... I can confirm, my Xbox 360 Gamepad isn't working properly (only control that seems to work is the right shoulder button starting the game?). Interesting concept, although a bit hard to understand at first (e.g. just keep orbiting rather than bumping to infect cells).
Forgot to mention: Sometimes I fly straight through cells, not sure whether that's intended, but feels like a collision detection glitch (warping).
Same gamepad issue. Regarding the device's name, you should know it varies from platform to platform for some crazy reason... Trying with a keyboard now.
I really like the style, audio and graphics. It took a while to realise I had to be orbiting a cell to gradually corrupt it, and maybe you should make it clear why you lose when you do (either lose all viruses or run out of time). It's fairly fun, though.
Played with keyboard and is really strange and good. I love to this kind of game in an experimental context, because controls are challenging but gameplay is simple to learn. Well done!
Although it took me a while to figure out what was going on, and how to control it (xbox pad didn't work), I eventually figured it out and had a blast. The sound is *amazing*. It very successfully evokes how much is going on by growing more hectic. The gameplay is unique too, and I even enjoyed figuring it out. Awesome stuff.
I loved the game! "Tight" controls, with a new premise and all that; simply marvelous. I could see this, as is, being sold on mobile. 4/5.
That was fun, I really liked the graphics and music
Loved it. Would like to see this developed with more type of virus, but that can be a future project. Well done
Hello! We updated the version with keyboard support and distributable if you don't have love or don't want to install it :D
Hard, but fun concept. Love the graphics :D
Simplet but fun!
Tested with keyboard and worked fine. Music is addictive!
Very pretty, and fun too! Slightly repetitive, but I guess that goes with the genre. I had a fun time playing it :)
A unique little game. I really like the graphics/music style!
Very nice graphics and sound. Especially the background.
Yet it's stuttering on my Mac and eventually crashes after 5-10 seconds of play :(
Fun! It took me a few tries to figure out how exactly things worked (at first I tried just bumping into all of the cells in sight, not realizing i needed to hit one and wait).
Once I got that figured out, it was pretty fun! feels like it could be a great starting point for something bigger. Graphics and audio were great, and I really enjoyed how the music / audio acted as cues to the gameplay
Interesting concept, although it needs other elements like powerups, etc to keep me entertained for longer.
Reminds me of a lot of the Tiny World entries from last time.
I had a few automatic " you fail!" when starting level that was a bit confusing at start and I had a bit of trouble with the virus not gravitating around the cell I wanted when there was several cells together. Interesting concept, I wish there was a bit more variation and scaling of difficulty ( like some maybe bigger cells that take more time, or some cells that can regenerate over time ).
Very fun game. Enjoyed the controls and the difficulty. Took me awhile to figure out I had to hit the hosts more than once, though.
Fun game! I enjoyed it.
From game design stand point it has some kind of pacing problem.. In the beginning it is boring.. you have to wait a lot... and in the end it is too stressful.. as you have lot of things to do.. little time but you controls are limited. (you have to wait for good angle... selecting your wanted cell takes time..)
I would consider giving player more control.. (maybe ability to directly target, instead of wait...) and conpemcate it by adding enemies.. (antibodies or something... you you should not hit..)
Nice idea overall! keep the good work.
Nice music and art. Controls took a lot of getting used to. Once you figure it out, it's still hard to execute and pull it off. May want some sort of highlighting which virus you are on. You get the directional indicator, but sometimes the virii are on the edge of the screen and you can't see that.
Fun game, though. Maybe also have some sort of little particle system or something to visually show that your virus is infecting/within range of a cell. And make the cells look less like Christmas tree ornaments :) Pretty fun game, I think with some small tweaks you could have something really solid.
A fellow lover! I like how well polished the music/art is and the game mechanic is quite unique.
Interesting gameplay, and I'm a sucker for one-button game designs and this one comes _pretty_ close to that.
It took me a while to figure out that I needed to _surround_ other cells; at first I was just flying into them and being confused. That's partly my own fault for not reading the instructions :)
The idea is cool, cells look cool, but I have a lot of unexplained "failed", often at start.
Great little game. With a variety of level types it would definitely entice re-playability. I like the visual style, however after a few minutes the psychedelic background messed with me a little. None the less a solid little puzzle game.
This is great! The music and graphics come together and make a really nice experience. It feels like the gameplay could use some polish, if only a touch:
Can you do something to make the start faster? Maybe starting with two virii would be better.
In the very first stage walls would be really nice, since I died a few times before I understood what was going on.
Thanks for the game!
pretty cool, i really liked the audio. Nice art too :)
wow. best game in this jam i've played so far. but: keyboard instructions in the menu and a mute button that keeps it state would've been nice :)
This is great :D i really love the artstyle and the music is just awesome. It took me a bit to notice that i have to hit the cells a few times to kill them but I really had fun playing it :) Good job!
Nice game had fun. The moving background hurt my eyes after a while though
Thank you for the comments! We are fixing some bugs that you report! Also we fix the time lapse and is on vimeo now
Ah! my eyes! That scrolling background image, haha.
Nice game though. took me a bit to understand the launching controls ( the radial power indicator was slightly confusing - I assumed it had something to do with direction as well )
Interesting one button game, really good work.
adorable microbes!
Cool concept. Like the reproduction aspect. The additive music is great.
One of the best parts was how the music changed when a virus was infecting a cell, very nice touch. Overall a very fun and good-looking game.
