LD28 — You Only Get One (7)

1-2-3-Ban by Draknek 2013-12-25T09:48:00

Nice idea. It wouldn't run without cookies enabled - I guess that's a PuzzleScript thing. I felt at times like it was more trial and error than logic - I was just wandering around, seeing what would happen - but I'm not sure why.

Monorail by AaronGordon 2013-12-18T00:13:00

There are some great concepts in here. I love the idea of a nonlinear, potentially self-crossing track, and the way numbers decrease, changing the path you have to take on successive laps.

The only thing I dislike is how slowly the speed increases. A higher difficulty setting would be very nice.

Also, don't use Zip for the Linux version, because it doesn't preserve permissions - the script needs to be executable (and a #! line would be nice).

Candy Runner by AtomicVikings 2013-12-17T22:52:00

It'd be nice if the new key were shown briefly where it was collected - it takes an instant to check it in the top-right, and it sometimes only takes an instant to die.

Do Not Expect Help by Icoates 2013-12-17T22:45:00

So, level 2: g is right, d is left, but no key seems to jump?

Jack of all trades by OddOneOut 2013-12-17T22:26:00

I had the wizard bug mentioned by theholychicken too (also on Firefox).

One Wish, No More ! by lsdlive 2013-12-17T22:03:00

Yeah, the QWERTY layout seems to use WQSD; I just switched my keyboard layout to AZERTY.

One Rogue by rincewind_cz 2013-12-17T21:35:00

I like how it prints useful cheaty data to stdout.

LD26 — Minimalism (2)

Zip by Chronodrax 2013-05-11T17:29:00

Nice idea, and it controls well. A few minor issues:

I struggled a little with colour-blindness, but apparently mine isn't as bad as FrozenCow's - it was only a problem on the second screenshot below the main one, between the blue and purple in there, and I managed it by trial and error.

I don't quite understand why there are two more levels once I've been told I've won. Kind of weird.

The fade in effect is really slow on my browser, which gets annoying (Firefox 20 on Linux with integrated graphics).

Don't paint me, I'm busy by Wish I Was an Astronaut 2013-04-29T14:13:00

I like it. The music and graphics are good apart from the text box head things. I didn't understand the enemy health bar for quite a while, but that's probably because I'm silly.

I enjoyed playing, for a while, but it seems to me that the best strategy is to be careful and take your time, which isn't very fun. I'm not sure how you that could be improved. I think the length is about right - I wouldn't make it any longer unless you add new mechanics.

LD25 — You are the Villain (7)

Abduct EVERYTHING by Krankdud 2013-01-04T11:31:00

I love how, unlike in many games, you actually move at a decent speed. Unfortunately, I'm still having a little trouble controlling it, since my keyboard is bad and won't do certain diagonals while holding X. This isn't really your fault, but could probably be mitigated by having X toggle the beam instead.

By the way, would you happen to be the Krankdud on the Dustforce leaderboards?

Obliterate the City by Clavus 2012-12-17T13:59:00

I must answer level 20 with a 'yes'. Does it end?

Click to Lock and Load by RandomM00 2012-12-17T12:41:00

I only see vegetables, no animals, and if I click, the game uses 100% CPU and becomes unresponsive. This happened both with the Linux binary (32-bit) and when I compiled from source (64-bit - incidentally, this took less effort somehow). There's no output at all.

A Natural Villain by ClownyBastards 2012-12-17T12:13:00

Same gamepad issue. Regarding the device's name, you should know it varies from platform to platform for some crazy reason... Trying with a keyboard now.

You ARE The Villain by Kwrky 2012-12-17T12:02:00

Source doesn't exist?

Escape by mokujin 2012-12-17T12:00:00

Yeah, Mono is looking for 'openal32.dll', which I assume is some C# binding to OpenAL, but I can't seem to find a package containing it.

Vault by zedutchgandalf 2012-12-17T11:50:00

Nice idea; looking around to see the level is really interesting, if a little hard to get used to. I feel like it wants to be a stealth game, where you take your time, but then you have the 20s timer, which destroys that idea and just confuses me.

Some notes:

- The text at the top isn't in the style of the rest of it, which means I didn't even notice it for a few minutes.
- As mentioned previously, it's not obvious that clicking outside the 'Exit' button restarts the level. Also, the button appears instantly, so you can accidentally click it if you're shooting at that moment.
- I keep pressing space to continue to the next level for some reason - maybe make it an alias?
- I got a crash every now and then (when shooting a guy, I think):

Exception in thread "Main" java.util.ConcurrentModificationException

at be.zedutchgandalf.ld48.Main.run(Main.java:122)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:722)

- I couldn't work out what to do in the level where you start in a small room at the bottom-left. Neither that nor the next room with a guard seem to have any breakable walls.

LD22 — Alone (14)

Damn Locksmiths! by ddm 2012-01-08T20:34:00

A shell script for Linux would be exactly the same with the library directory changed.

For some reason, if I leave the instructions screen up for a few seconds before pressing space, it quits with:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StackOverflowError

at java.util.concurrent.atomic.AtomicLong.compareAndSet(AtomicLong.java:149)

at com.msynet.ld22.Entity.update(Entity.java:45)
at com.msynet.ld22.Miner.update(Miner.java:41)
AL lib: ReleaseALC: 1 device not closed

If I press space quickly, it works.

It took me a while to understand what I was doing, and why the miners were going black, and how to open chests, but after I did, I enjoyed one game, then it became far too easy. I think this would work better as a multiplayer game.

Oh, and diagonal movement is important, as mentioned already.

Neural Entanglements by Aardvark 2012-01-08T20:18:00

I had no problem installing 32-bit SFML on 64-bit Linux. I couldn't get far any time I tried to play, though, because it randomly quits with no error message at random times (one case is if either sheep goes too near the bottom of the screen, but there are others).

Dvorak-friendly controls would be nice, too.

Then it just uses 100% CPU without showing a window. (Arch Linux, 64-bit.)

...I started compiling 32-bit libraries to try the 32-bit version, but it got really crazy and I ended up at lib32-avahi, which wouldn't install because of some conflict (with my 64-bit Avahi, I guess) and I gave up.

Alone Game by HybridEidolon 2012-01-06T13:06:00

I would make the music louder: I turned it up 'cause it was so quiet, then the first sound effect was so loud I flinched.

It only started to get interesting at the last puzzle - that was the only one that involved some small amount of thinking, IMO. I wanted to play more after that, but then it ended.

I think you could've come up with a few extra decent puzzles without needing to code more contraptions.

Space Wrench by Daniel X. Moore 2012-01-06T12:28:00

Was it meant to just go to a black screen after one of the exits (the one at the top-right, behind 4 turrets in a diagonal line)? I also didn't get any audio.

BatKeep by someone 2012-01-04T23:24:00

Meh, the bats' movement is predictable and avoiding them is a puzzle that's easy enough to manage every time.
