Confusing at first, very enjoyable after that. The music made it very compelling to play.

Interesting idea but doesn't have a lot of expansion after it is introduced to the player, therefore becomes a bit grindey and bland. The weird voices creeped me out though.
For losing power on one day, you sure did something pretty impressive.
Not much to say here. It's really basic, and doesn't have much of a difference in each of the objects you find.
Not terribly inventive, but brilliantly catchy.
@Epskampie: Yeah, I intended to reduce the velocity on each collision, but I never got around to doing it because of another collision issue. I guess all I can say for now is, be careful? :o
It seems OSX support for lwjgl applets is very iffy. This can be seen with Minecraft as well. I'm pretty sure this is an upstream issue and I don't know if there's a way to fix it at my level :E
I may upload a build that can be played on the desktop soon.
I tried to do a little bit more with the "acronymic puzzle," but it didn't work out as complicated as I wanted to (there are a lot of things I wanted to do but simply didn't have the time). For those of you curious, discovery.PHP - change your address bar and you'll be able to enter the code to figure out which Red Circle at the end of the gauntlet opens the ending door without killing you (nice name for that, Tom 7).
The story seemed like it was off to a good start, but it ends abruptly as noted. Game-wise it's obviously incomplete, but engine-wise it seems pretty solid other than some noticeable slowdowns in certain areas.
Catching the bunny with a plunger was amusing, but nothing else is worth mentioning much. Ran well in Chrome, props for doing a purely JavaScript game.
This is a game that I would absolutely love for my DS or, if I had one, a touch phone.
While the compo version definitely doesn't feel like a complete game yet, it has some great ideas that I'm sure would be much better when polished. The little ambient music when you land should probably loop, but what plays is a very nice touch. I couldn't figure out how to repair the mothership, so maybe making the dialogs a bit more intuitive would make it more obvious. Graphics were a little too basic, especially the laser effect - I couldn't tell I was shooting a laser unless I thought about the light position. Finally, a minor glitch, the mouse would not lock to the game window and hide itself so I couldn't turn a lot.
It felt like there was a lot of plot development that was planned, so I was compelled to imagine what that would be like, making it a bit more of just what it was. Excellent ideas all around, just needs more polish.
I could see this being a very enjoyable adventure when it's finished. The music is awesome.
I could tell straight away that there might be a little inspiration from the mining minigame in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl? Either way, I really liked the characters and story. Definitely an interesting game.
I remember seeing your posts all throughout the compo and thinking, "man I hope I get to rate that game."
And oh wow. Besides not being able to understand what the heck I was doing, this was great. Trippy and fascinating, it almost feels like you're thinking deep about the images you're seeing and you discover something about YOURSELF - how amused you are by this combination of just plain weird things!
The music. It's amazing.
Oh god, I lol'd so hard.
You need to use at least version 1.7 to play. Sorry guys, I know a lot of Linux users in particular still don't have access to 7 on their repos. I didn't really have a need to use 1.7 so there's no excuse for me, sorry :\
If you're getting "Could not find the main class", then upgrade your JRE. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
@kernel panic, about halfway through the last day I realized that I needed to implement a ton more gimmicks to keep the puzzles interesting. There wasn't enough time, so I just submitted it as is. I'm not proud of the game itself, but it's the underlying code that made the compo for me.
The only thing I didn't really like was all the "surprise instant death" moments. They were frustrating, since you had to restart the game from the beginning every time you tripped one.
Applet won't work, probably due to Java 7 :\
Windows build isn't downloading for me...
Spent a lot of time rather confused, but nevertheless was able to complete the game. Interesting concept to play by the idea of sound.
The hit detection and camera are so, so strange. I loved the little diary entries though.
@HuvaaKoodia, the window issue is specific to Windows and its event system. Unfortunately it happens in SDL as well, and I'm not familiar enough with the Windows API to fix it.
MSVC = Visual Studio. I can't figure out how to build SFML using Visual Studio 2012 (the only license I own) so it may be a while.
The mingw32 build works for some people, and not at all for others. I don't know why, but it works perfectly in Wine, my native Windows 7 install, and a Windows 8 virtual machine.
@Mark That's strange, though it is caused by a variable timestep there is something causing the game to halt for a little bit after it opens, breaking physics. Try running it with Kwin/Kubuntu or something other than Unity/Compiz.
The android controls were sort of an after-thought and yes, they are VERY small on my Nexus 5. Unity has no UI scaling at all, unfortunately.
oh my god this game is amazing
Works for me. Pretty fun, although I wish there wasn't a framerate cap, no consideration for monitors with more than 60hz refresh :(
Please make sure to edit the starter batch file and change your display name before joining/creating a server!
Please install the MSVC 2013 Redistributable package.
to anyone reading this, ^ don't do that. that's rude.
hi there drilltail you should come to global game jam and rock the house again
The game isn't loading in Firefox, can you make a standalone version for Windows or Mac?
P.S. Senpai Club is awesome.
