Cute game with a catchy music :)
Gets slightly repetitive, adding more types of danger would have helped.
The progression bar on the moon was original.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → Users → blob

The progression bar on the moon was original.
Very nice realization, nice esthetics, writing and all. However, as said above, its a pain found in most text adventures to find what to exactly type to go forward. I visited all basic places, found a bunch of items and had no clue what to do whatsoever. Hopefully you will post a walkthrough for people like me who want to see more but dont want to spend hours trying every possibilities.
Great work anyway, congrats.
( i also agree about the text in a separate box and a different typo ! )
Graphics are more trippy than most drugs.
Tough game. I found that you fall so fast its a matter of luck if you land on moving spikes or not. I always enjoy time limit platformers, its stressing but pushes for improvement.
The sounds got a bit annoying however.
Isnt there a way to get the game compiled instead of having to install python ? :/
Nice concept, nice randomness and variety ! Cute game that feels old school. It stays too easy though. Would have love see the levels get a bit larger, with artifacts hidden deeper at I go on.
Excellent jeu ! :)
Great design, and very mean difficulty ! I had to take a small break before the final challenge to lower the pressure. Finished in 66 deaths.
The music did try to drive me crazy but I survived.
Lastly its not very close to the theme, great game anyway.
Staring at the start up black screen too. The game wont run.
Is there a specific key to hit to quit talking to someone ? Instead I just killed everybody.
Didnt think these kind of puzzle could have no solutions hehe. Bummer. The concept of mixing platform and a puzzle can be cool but it seems to just slow down the process of solving the puzzle in many case. Its a tough style of game to make.
Nice little music going.
I'm in trouble ? DANG !
Dude, that was a very fun little game ! I want more levels ! It reminded me of the early indie games of when games started to get on the net ( the shareware times). Very fun mix of action and puzzle. It wasnt closely linked to the theme sadly.
I d be really happy if you could push the graphics and make extra levels.
Long time since I played a game with myself in it.
I love these kind of games but the controls really killed it for me. The way you slide on the edges, and the difficulty to jump on a platform if you're next to a wall are very frustrating.
Very nice story and developpement. Too bad, I wish you made the musics, so I cant rate you on that.
The games starts all cute and get super creepy all of a sudden. Surprising.
Another blob game !
Interesting and fun concept. I dont like however that once you run out of ressource you re pretty much stuck forever. A very very low income on any ressource, maybe from a cheap or free building would have been better IMO.
Cant get it to work. ( black screen then crash )
One of the best soundtrack of this LD ! Will take a look at your bandcamp.
The missile defense game with a giant robot is pretty cool. The game got a bit hard too fast, I wanted to see more progression and more ennemies. I love these kind of games and always felt its been underdone. I did a missile defense kind of game a long time ago with rebuilding mechanics and boss battles ( and it was shitty because i was 14) but I feel there's still potential to make awesome modern games out of this style of stuff.
Awesome concept ! I loved how you really had to be aware of what your population learned before sending shit on them. The war idea was brilliant too. Lots of different paths, its very rewarding to experiment.
Only once I got my people to learn how to make castle but they died at the same time.
Final score 170.
Hehe, fine little game. I wish the ending was done as a simple, little visual cutscene. Could have been hilarious :)
Finished ! From seeing the comments I feel proud :D
Okay, so concept is awesome. What took me the most time was to understand I could rotate the things in the first level. Some explanations would be welcome here !
Level 4 felt harder than 5 ( i think its 4, im thinking of the first level with color filters, being harder than 2nd level with filters).
Level 10 is easier than 8 and 9.
And... I think I got through 7 and 8 with a "cheat" solution.
But those are details ! Its great, and i'd love to see more levels ! Nice work.
Oh the networking idea would be very interesting, I hope you 'll add it as a separate link sometime <:D
Got around 3700 points. Would be helpful to brag around if you could see your score on the game over screen.
Nice old school graphics.
Clever level design.
Nice graphics and funny story, but a bit too basic button masher gameplay.
And, ow, you cant kill people running away from the houses ?
Simple but fun ! The graphisms are cute as well as the music. It s a bit too easy to get health back, and death seems to be caused by the brutal transition between levels. But its a nice little game and the design of the hero is funny.
I liked how the number of lives was counted by the number of his core/eyes.
Liked the game over sound too ;)
Very interesting time concept. Love the randomness.
Is there any collars or other items than hats to find ?
Also going down didnt seem to change anything rather than just recreate a similar level.
Very good game base, but not much to do yet.
68 mb seems really huge for this game.
The gameplay was fine nonetheless. Simple but with good level design.
Very nice art style and color. Controls are good, and world is big. Nice way to make a tiny world by making as if you were quickly turning the planet. I got stuck at that puzzle with red and blue buttons.
Very nice puzzle. I wished they were getting a bit more complex near the end, but it was fun to go through.
The controls were a bit glitchy and too fast.
You can put a separate download ( i think you can rename the download links, just rename it to post mortem version.)
The game looks really cool and has sweet musics. On level 3 I fell to my death and couldnt ever respawn.
It is realllly hard to play for all of us with azerty keyboards. Please, developpers, have a heart and allow people to at least use arrows keys to play in this case!
Oh shoot! I forgot to add that: only way to quit is to force quit so alt +f4 on windows. Not sure for linux and mac.
The aiming issue clearly happens on all mac and linux ports however I do not know yet how to correct this problem. Very sorry :( Im extra annoyed this happened on a windows game too, argh.
Ouch, upscaling might look bad on wide screens. Did not test that.
Also, there is an end. For it you need capture the demon lord and bring him back to your terrorium. You ll then have a "retire" option in there.
Lastly, there's supposed to be musics ( four total) but seems like mac ( possibly linux too) wont run them.
Thanks for all the comments. :)
Very sorry again for all linux and mac users, if I find a solution I will post a new separate version.
SoulCrusher: First, thanks ! The monsters and food are automatically dropped off in your Terrorium when you get back to it. The food stored is visible when you look at your terrorium ( press enter when you re on it ). Monsters will automatically consume food with time. If there is no more food stored they will start dying one by one !( starting from the weaker ones ).
Thanks!
Yes I was thinking the same :)
Adding some NPCs, small quests related to bringing certain types of monsters... Adding a familiar too, like a crow who speaks with the wizard. These kinds of stuff :)
The food grows back after a certain time. There's about 5 places (some a bit hidden) where food grows so if you find them all you can bring more food than is consumed !
I believe the game IS tough.
The design was that you need to count and remember the ennemy's health so that when you encounter them again you can approximately know when they can be captured. Maybe its too hard or maybe I should have hinted this strategy ingame ?
Wardener ? I ll check it out.
You know what could be really cool too ? That the arc of the fireball is controled by how fast you rotate your arm when you shoot... I ll have to look into that :)
Hmmm it seems to happen once in a while. Is it the mac version ? If you retry it should work eventually. I might have to upload the files in a different space
Thanks for letting me know.
It seems that on some computer the terrarium opens at native resolution instead of being scaled up like the rest. But very inconstistently :(
Thanks for the great feedback ! Its true the health is not super obvious. Maybe making the low health more different and adding a heart beat sound would help... Or just adding the text " health" ?
There is a warning for a couple dangerous pits for low levels that are displayed in the text box at the top, but I think they are easily missed especially if you're fighting at the same time...
Missed some time to refine the spawning tweaking further. I wanted to avoid the exploit of leaving the screen ( which disables the monsters ) and coming back to avoid fights easily.
So many people on mac and linux /o\
Sorry guys, didnt get a reply from the exporter's creator...
Leveling actually wouldnt change how long you last in a battle (it only affects your shrink spell, not your strength). Its all about jump'n'shoot.
SQUISH. The game was fun! Final scenes were... not my style.
Nice concept and cool realization. I like the view angle ! Difficulty progressed too slowly and felt really easy ( quit at wave 11, dunno if there's an end ). Was getting more interesting by wave 10 though.
Having some stronger ennemies like soldier ants, and spitting ants could make the game really interesting. The world of ants is fascinating and I'm sure there's way to make a fantastic game out of this.
You should put a youtube video of a LP. It sounds amazing, it looks amazing but controls with the mouse are slow and its way too unforgiving (touching one of those stompers AFTER it fell still kills you ??).
Did you make other similar productions before that ? I 'd want to check them out !
Cool mechanic. The game is not too hard once you figured that pressing the movement key again stops you from going back.
However the tough part is getting to get the worlds to come to you when you right click. Never understood why it worked only once in a while !
Cute indeed! The sounds get repetitive after a while, especially the falling down one. Didnt finish the second level, going all the way back up going down the pit 2 times was a bit longish.
Didnt have any bugs (except the hero hohoho) and it all seemed pretty well done.
Got stuck with the golden arrow too ( when you get to the basement on the way to acquire the double jump, there s an arrow that makes you jump high once. After it disappears, forever).
Great graphics and sounds. There doesnt seem to be a real game, but its fun to experiment.
Technically impressive, and super cute graphism.
Would have loved to have a little " trotting "sound for the fox.
Where is the source code ?
Is there really no ending ? Really good idea though, was surprised the game did detect my computer, haha! Nice puns and sounds.
Still getting stuck in walls. Also the games seems heavy on firefox. Completely crashed it.
Great concept of mixing Ikaruga with Zelda ! Could make a really nice larger game with this.
Losing ability is a very good idea and graphics and musics are very nice.
Fun little adventure, I like his way to throw shurikens :p
Chopping trees doesnt do anything ?
It was an ambitious project indeed.
Fantastic graphics, great teleport mechanic which because really well used in the last parts of the game. The animation of the squid is mind blowing guys. I died 2 or 3 times because I just wanted to watch the groovyness of it.
Music is super pro too. Cant believe the same person had the time to do all art and musics in that little time!
No links with the theme :(
Beautiful game. Would love to see an updated version with an ending and or extra levels.
Amazing art and animation guys. I found the difficulty to be totally reversed ! First boss gave me much frustration, second boss was just a matter of having the balls of staying in front of him and just slashing, and last one I got on the first try. I was hitting "attack" so much I skipped the end scene by mistake :(
I love boss fights !
Also, I had a pretty similar game project in mind some while ago :)
I found the cat ! I found the cat ! :D
But I died in this wave or the following one. Havent been able to beat the game yet :(
This is really my only complaint: restarting the whole game when you reach even wave 5 ( which he says is half the way ? So im guessing I have to survive ten whole waves without dying ! )
Read that restarting on the level was supposed to work though, so im hoping to get a post mortem version with that ! I'm enjoying replaying the game anyway, until I'll beat it. One of my favorite of this ludum dare so far. Great narration as said by others and cute little universe. Sweet story too...
(also, the green buddy could have a nicer walking animation)
Omg, what an amazing game. Innovative, fun and beautiful. The music is awesome too. If only there was an ending of some sorts after you get the power... but its a minor complaint. :)
My favorite so far !
You get no points for the destruction of the city itself ? Apart from that disapointment it was very gratifying to destroy everything.
Very clever Idea. Took me a while to get the rules.
Hahah ! Hilarious. I want a level two versus a dc martens.
Got to the second level but those ladders blocking jumps are just painful.
Nice idea to add branches that wake up the cat.
Got frustrated by how fast clouds disappear. But yeah, very fun little concept here and cute game.
I grew two types of trees but that's about it. I absolutely cant fathom how to make crates or anything out of stone or wood. A walkthrough or some hints somewhere would be appreciated
What a mean ending ! hehe.
Almost got a tendinite from spamming the arrow keys; Is it a bug that I couldnt hold it ?
Very nice style and cute game overall.
Fun style and cool music but controls were a pain. Camera was really slow and its too bad the world is so grey.
I like the concept but I think I would have enjoyed it more if you were really protecting the planet's life. Turns out only the hero can die. Nice overall graphics and ambient. Phtoshop grass brush ? :)
A bit strange that in the menu you have to use "x" to select anything.
The game ended when I saved the first one ? Moving is realllly slow too.
Since I'm a fan of suicide party bros, I was looking forward to your next game. Realization is amazing again, destruction of tile was ambitious and climbing walls with knives is epic. Hope you turn it in a full game, there's clearly potential for awesomeness.
Nice graphic style, great music, and sweet variety of worlds ! I couldnt figure out how to heal ingame either ( i didnt see i had to scroll down to find this part of game instructions).
Game crashed after level 5, is that the end ? I dont know about AYIM but this game is actually even more reminiscent of a previous ludum dare game that had the same rotation mechanic AND had puzzles based of crates and lasers. ( Was on LD22 actually).
Very cool art, musics and puzzles here nonetheless. I would have seen a different background than that. Nice that you added secrets too.
The hit box of the spikes is insanely big.
Best final boss fight ever. That was brilliant, I am still laughing.
I think you can rename the download links.
I really love this game. It remind me for some reason of the old magic the gathering game, with its little dungeons with almost similar graphics and the same kind of random events. The original version is way too hard, and even the adapted one I couldnt finish ( are you suppose to do the chimera tower after the fortress ? I cant find anything else than the base sword and shield)
The concept is really addictive and I can see it become a way larger game. I tried the game like 12 times in a row despites the deaths.
This game definitely has something addictive to it: I came back to play it days after, hoping to finish it. In the enhanced version I finally had all the items and was generally kicking ass, but the last tower NEVER showed up. Had to quit.
I found that the character didn't really seemed that tiny (except compared to the witch). Otherwise: classic gameplay + decent realization. I would have like a bit more of level design, with obstacles, traps maybe...
Nice finished little game with a nice music. Good use of the theme. Would have been nice to have more explanations, it was confusing in the beginning.
Wow, impressive for 48h. The only thing I miss is some power up or ammo count. Add a few more ennemies, and I could play that for a really long time. Its fun !
"You can jump in the void but what for ?"
answer: for a bug that added text all over my screen.
I'm jealous of your mad .mod skillz !! This is what I would have liked in my game! :D
Well the game is promising, there's quite some inertia in the movement but that part of the charm. Game is short, obvio but there's some cool stuff going around. Love the egyptian sci fi. Reminded me of Ulysse 31, even though its greek sci fi.
Took me a while to understand I wasnt supposed to get rid of the ennemies but catch my guys. Its really hard, but survived 90 seconds.
Superbe design for the lady and the sounds fit the game nicely.
Cute game, where's the rocket launcher ?
Ok so I did the whole game as a pacifist... Hmm because the arrows went through the beetles I thought those guys were somehow immune to it ( and that later ennemies would need arrows, except there's no later ennemies)
Hurray for animal protection !
I would have loved that the arrows dont just go straight but have nice arrow trajectory requiring some aiming. Nice job however, its cute.
Was fun ! Only got 2 secrets.
Had no issue with controls. Only thing is it took me forever to realize I had gotten the double jump at some point... And is the fireball used ?
Reminded me of good old 3D games like jumping jack flash.
Nice zelda style, but felt a bit repetitive with only one weapon and pretty much one style of ennemy. Nice music and minimap.
Effin brilliant ! There is so many cool ideas in that game... AND its pretty long, well designed and funny and I'm sad for my friends. Definitely one of the very best of this LD.
Very cute world ! ...but hard to play on an azerty keyboard. If jumping could be done with right click it would make it easier.
Oh wait nevermind you can edit controls with unity's input >_>
Can't get past the connecting either.
An RTS with randomly generated maps is an interesting idea I'd like to see done. Right now there's not much game to judge sadly. Good luck for the continuation of this project !
Really clever idea. The collision detection and a few bugs kinda frustrated me at points.
Its a very long game for 48h ! Too bad you didnt have time to recreate a simplistic version of the mario theme.
Fun game ! The five blue monsters are insane.
Liked how the house fell from the planete.
Nice concept. The ennemies are sometimes hard to see behind the HUD.
Its too bad all the weapons are pretty much doing the same thing. I wish the mortar aimed up and that you could eventually beat the spaceship.
A health bar would have been nice, just walking on top of the ennemies while waiting for the weapon to reload is not very challenging.
Very zen game. With more crafts and more people all together it could be a very nice community game. Good job.
Had the java issue. Maybe you could provide a link on the game infos to where to download the java to get it to work ?
Nice lighting and look, except for the ground texture which is repetitive. I like how the scorpion rips the blue shit out of the greens.
Missing having no sounds at all and the control with the mouse are tough.
got 1750.
Same comment as above. The game goes so fast and HUD is so small its really hard to keep track of your heath while fighting. I like the concept - its fun- but I wish the game would slow down at times, just a lil bit.
Fun game ! It seems luck is THE thing to buy first, stars are so rare otherwise. Brakes are a life saver.
It lacks variety though, always the same as you go up.
Had to force quit the game too, dunno if there was a better way.
Game doesnt seem to have anything to do with the theme though. But well, you made a game in 48h !
Nice randomly generated dungeon. I can see how it could become pretty nice with more content.
I didn't understand all aspects. What do generators exactly do ? Took me a while to get how to build them as well.
Also I see there's a lot of music files but I didn't hear any in the game.
Very interesting concept. Musics are trippy but gave a strong strange mood to the game. I d love to see a more polished version giving slowly more and more options to paint.
Too many dialogues that told me to press X. Constantly giving game instructions kind of break the immersion.
Could not make it work on firefox. Game seems really hard. I had a hero kitten stand his ground indefinitely around the king while all the others were dead. Epic battle never ended.
Its kinda annoying you cant even hint your kittens to go eat fish. I had a game with 2 billions fishes in south east corner and no zombies, all lost.
Looked cool but couldnt run the game :(
Do I need to install something ?
Nice game. The teammates are suicidal and increasing stats doesnt seem to do anything other than wasting money ( if you reselect your character after raising its stats they are back to default). The game turns into a monster genocide once you have at least 5 warriors with you.
The text sets the mood nicely though I think its mostly the undeads that were mourning their loss, none of my team member ever fell. So a bit too easy.
Doesnt seem worth it to create wizard AI controlled teammates as they charge into battle like some frenzied orcs despites their low health.
You added a mini game in a 48 hours compo ! That's brilliant ! Original concept and setting, only drawback is the clunky controls in the platform mode.
I wish you could save the poor mind controlled rats !
Classic style and cool level design but the controls are very irresponsive. Character suddenly stops or wont jump. Enemy's reach seems really beyond their sprite and having to reload the game on a game over is painfull.
A zombie fell from way above the screen when I finished the boss :)
I like the exploration aspect of not knowing what part has been unlocked by a key.
I dont get it either. Tried a few times now, and I very sincerely dont see how I can optimize my choices. I get the shield as soon as possible as there doesnt seem to be any other defense upgrade until long and I need to kill the blue blobs at no costs. But I get to the guy who asks for 25 and I only have 20 gold and 5HP so cant find more ( had to heal once or the green guys kill me). And, I ve killed all the blobs. I dont get it !
Too hard and frustrating.
The world is really cute and the gameplay is fluid otherwise.
Original, and each planete having its own attraction is cool. But the gameplay was missing something ( space pirates raiding you for your ore maybe ?)
Nice, but I didnt see the dog. Nice its bug free, decent AI and fog of war.
Also I felt bad for killing fellow blobs >:(
Why does this guy has a giant murderous fire in his own home ?
Old school feeling, jumping sound gets annoying though.
Interesting. 21 moves.
I like the kiwi design.
Simple but fun gameplay. Basically fight and level up but its rewarding and getting revenge on the military is nice.
Problems are:
* Rat is really slow in the beginning
* You always face left or right so its way more dangerous to attack enemies from top or bottom because you cant evade the bullets as well.
Interesting idea to have the lasers bounce. I wish it could be used more strategically in the game.
Nice particles effect.
Final score: 13100 :p
Original concept. You should explain the goat thing on the main page here. Its hard to understand withing the game.
Haha, truly awesome. Now that's a real villain ! :D
Cute little game! Its possible to abuse the system by controlling one pumpkin and taking knights one by one and waiting for him to regen after a few fights.
Is there an end ? Knights kept coming but my pumpkin was so lonely he killed himself.
A little FX animation or something visual when you attack with space bar would help, I wasnt sure if I was doing anything in the beginning.
Looking forward to your updates.
Loved this game! Feels super polished and finished. Its innovative and I loved how each of my hire had a random name, made me feel attached to them like in the old x com. Searching for stronger hireling until you et a cheap 1dollar +2 strength was fun. I made my little team of specialized badies and won the game by taking the local organized crime hard mission. I only regret i never met any super hero !
Very clean and well thought interface and all.
Congratz !
Damn you Greyson ! I will be back !
Hahaha ! @Bloodyaugust
That's gotta be the cutest asteroid I've ever seen. The way he flips out after charging the planet and just bounces like an asteroid on cocaine is hilarious.
Thanks for the feedback :)
@dredlockz: There should be sound ( just no music ) not sure why it was broken for you.
@bitwise-constructs: Yes, I found that out today too. We didnt have enough time to test and balance the game properly.
Thank you ! Yes, all code and art done from scratch for the jam.
@Jerombd We're gonna try to get those stuff added during the holidays. Making the musics is gonna be challenging !
@casino jack try getting your browser into full screen ( usually F11) if you cant see the whole page. Sorry no better way to restart than reload the page yet, we'll add this in a post comp version.
@allinlabs Thanks for the link, that game looks interesting. Havent played local multiplayer on one keyboard in ages :)
Thanks for the comments ! ( we actually had to make the game in 48h because of full time jobs.) The 60s limit was a last minute addition because we had no lose condition !
Amazing stuff guys. Fun and innovative gameplay, some cool puzzle ideas and very nice render, animation and character design...
Really cool art style. Controlling the guy was tough ( collisions were a bit funky ).
Yay for the most awesome animal in the galaxy ! I like the muscle meter system ! I think it might be even more fun to play with a mouse aiming, did you try ? ( left click to move, right to attack maybe ?)
Post-jam this baby.
The art / animation and main music with the choir are awesome.
That makes sense.
Once you get the power up it's really quite easy to move around. If you make this the default I dont think you ll get nearly as much complaints. Good luck !
RPG shooters ! i like that :)
Cool concept though I wish the game had a bit more punch ! I also had trouble seeing which weapon was ON or OFF.
Funny game mix ! Got 50% max and it seems hard to get blocks in between areas where you ve built in a messy way. Its a cool idea and i d love to see more though.
Well ! THAT was very satisfying. Jumping on cows is my new favorite thing.
Very fun game, with a large amount of moves. There's some ideas with all those moves that could make for a pretty strategic platformer.
Very nice animations of the main character, and +1 for mentionning Gargoyle's Quest :D
( and on a completely separate note, go find "demon's crest", its SNES sequel, if you havent played it yet. Its a hidden gem. )
Oh boy, that's awesome. You actually own those guys on cartridges... Beautiful collection !
I guess this is a "super wagon adventure like" game. Didnt expect to see this, that was fun :)
Cool tunes and nice variety of action. I enjoyed that characters are random and can say different stuff when you play again.
Arrow keys to play would have been nice, WASD keys are tough on AZERTY keyboards.
Why do you want to put a bomb in a place FILLED with mines ? Just blow any mine and start a chain reaction. :p
Anyway, cool effect with the lighting slowly reducing and forcing to look for the mine's light, that was nice.
The hit box of the mine seemed larger than their sprite.
Is there an ending or is the goal to get the highest score ?
Good title ;)
Nice concept and good evolution of game mechanics though the beginning is slow. The game just misses a "fast forward" button, a lot of time is spent waiting for heroes to reach a wall and turn back. Good game overall !
Wow. You won.
My favorite on this jam...
And I'm going through system shock 2 right now... :)
This is really awesome. Love the concept and love that the music even affects the current speed of each bullet, giving a nice visual flow to the game. I really hope you re going to flesh this out into a complete game because there's a lot of replayability in this. I wouldnt mind refighting the same bosses over and over with different musics to see how they change.
You could have something really good if you add some attack pattern change depending on the general mood of the music or something like that.
My only complaint is that it doesnt really fit the theme.
Played the game on " murderous desire at-nen mix", I find it works really well with that game. Interesting speed changes along the song. The original song was too brutal for me.
Petting cats is so evil.
Very daring to try this kind of game for a jam ! great writing, nice UI and all. Only complaint is that in the end, your question dont matter that much since its kind of all solved by the final hint alone.
Nice idea to reverse the scrolling. I wish you punched the princess in the end.
Haha ! Its surprisingly rewarding...
Very nice art ! It's pretty fun, I think its just missing a little extra complication in the gameplay. Nice addition with the power ups btw.
I love hardcore roguelikes and I really want to play this game but it is way too hard. a dozen times and I cant beat a bat. The concept seems interesting though so looking forward to your update.
I dont find it really fits the theme though ( why are other monsters of the dungeon you are part of attacking you ? In the end it is more a regular dungeon crawler with an interesting gameplay twist ).
Very nice idea, and great character design ! I didnt get any audio in firefox, but worked in Chrome. I personally didnt have issue controlling with the mouse.
It seems to take too much time to lose though, didnt have the patience to see what happens.
Hehe funny idea. Level 3 is hard.
Interesting concept and visual design. You could post a version of the game with difficulty curve as a separate post jam link, that's allowed.
Haha "I loved a woman once but i needed her blood"
Nice music and oh boy, he puts the whole thing in the machine! Guess he doesnt mind having a bit of jeans and t-shirts to spice his drink.
Nice ending message haha :p
Close range felt useless ( except for blocking bullets coming from behind hehe) and shots seemed to come from your back but cool game overall.
Quite confusing, who are the queue matrons ? I liked the graphic style and overall audio of the game.
Lots of content for a 48h game !
Hehe, that was funny. The fact that you cant play with Arrow keys and the forced full screen made it very difficult to play on an AZERTY keyboard ( couldnt change the keyboard language mode for this because of the fullscreen). But cool art and I can see how you could use those 3 simple spells for a lot of nice game mechanics.
Very fun to play ! And a great take on the goat theme and bubble bobble.
Argh, hard to get back on track after you bounce off a wall...
Using Chris Huelsbeck's Turrican music and post this as a 48h compo game is not the rules, but the game is quite fun nonetheless.
Would be interesting if the tail could block attacks and only the head can be hurt. With more ennemy types and ennemies coming from different side you could have an interesting strategy action game here.
Didnt have sound. Love the rules ! :D
Excellent idea and awesome designs ! You could make the game trickier if specific characters have to get a specific death.
I found out: I dont have sound under firefox with unity games for some reason.
Azerty is fine with me ;)
Why people make Qwerty only games that dont allow arrow keys is beyond me however. Both are widely used !
Seem to have a bug with your game, it keeps restarting to difficulty selection every time i try to play.
I had a few automatic " you fail!" when starting level that was a bit confusing at start and I had a bit of trouble with the virus not gravitating around the cell I wanted when there was several cells together. Interesting concept, I wish there was a bit more variation and scaling of difficulty ( like some maybe bigger cells that take more time, or some cells that can regenerate over time ).
Greatly done and strong message. We need more games like that.
There's something about the running animation of those little sonic guys that cracks me up.
Simple but fun platform tower defence game, which is a mix of genre I havent actually seen much before.
Cool art that reminded me of Sword & Sorcery.
Couldnt figure out what the last trap was doing ?
Very good take on the genre. Would be cool if smelling or listening had a direct impact in puzzle solving. Nice little story too !
Boo, doesnt work on mine (win7 64b). As a Parisian, I wanted to see how you pictured it :/
What a freaking awesome idea ! The 2nd level definitely needs an ingame hint, even with the hint on the site it took me a while... The last level is kinda tedious, but it doesnt matter: this is a really clever mechanic and you should exploit it.
Yay! So you are part of the reverse shooter club too?
Strong concept. As commented already, make the beginning easier, and make the ship selection clearer and less confusing and you got a pretty solid gameplay.
The game has a cool mood too.
Even though that was ambitious you did a lot and the gameboy art and audio are very well done, pretty impressive.
I wish there was more "evilness" in the gameplay itself. The butcher is a really nice idea.
Nice mood, but really short. Wanted to see more.
Very deep and interesting gameplay. Not easy to understand at first, some extra icons to show for exemple which attack is yours and which is the ennemy's would help ( I didnt find the tooltip at first ).
I think there's a bug with the level 2 throne skills. Instead of increasing the health everywhere once, I would gain extra health every time I get hit making me instantly immortal.
Really nice themed places, would love a more graphical version of this game. I hope you will continue it.
That was super cool ! I found myself trying to finish the levels as fast as I could as in super meat boy: you should add a timer and save the player's best time for each level. The game feels really fun and the simple art and music did the job well. 5 stars for Fun.
You should really continue this idea with the enrolling creatures and all. Sounds really fun !
I agree with Pierrec that it would work better if another window opened when you close the game.
Great to have a dungeon keeper in a browser! Could be very nice with some added complexity and higher difficulty !
Cool tune too.
Don't have a fancy phone but its a really cool concept! I liked how you added the goat to the game :)
Fun scavenger hunt game :)
Quite a big step up in chaos in the last move.
How do you steal fruits ? I couldnt find that.
Awesomeness.
Great idea to slant the screen, adds a lot to the chaos of the scene !
Interesting concept and very nice realization ( with option menu and all). Didnt understand the gameplay at all though :S
Tutorial says I need to lower the surface so I used only function that do to destroy the towers but sometimes raising it would kill them, and bunch of times lowering surface would destroy any block. Maybe I misunderstood?
Haha Jerry, Aly had that exact comment just before we posted the game. :p
Ultrarat: Humans come in the DLC! ;p
@Rafael: Yes! Robotron was one of my main inspirations :)
Thanks all!
Thanks for playing, everybody! :)
@louis: yeah, it's purely random right now. Probably should have tweaked the randomness to force some type of food once in a while.
Thanks, that means a lot SonnyBone! :D
Thanks for the comments!
Yeah the way they usually recommend doing it is kinda like that except the embedded is the jam and you can post at the top a link to the continued version. I think both are fine as long as it's explicit which link is what! And it's great that you're still working on it, I don't want to discourage that!
You always make the best games.
Love the intro, sounds and the general mood. Seems easier to hit ennemies from the side than vertically.
Only one ennemy type?
I kinda want this character in nuclear throne :p
Awesome game. I love the mix of turn based and real time with the air consumption, that was fresh. :)
Definitely a bit unbalanced on the air in some backtracking parts and too hard to survive the invisible wall levels but I almost finished it ( got 1 out of the 3 last keys).
Love the music being played by picking air, that was a great touch.
And you made an editor in that amount of time ?!
Was fun but backtracking to the merchant is painful. How the heck do you avoid the first shot from those turrets?
Interesting concept though it felt quite slow and I feel the design and interactions need to be rethinked a lil bit. Nice entry overall! ( black fogs slowed my computer down a bit)
Great concept and lots of content. Game seemed to have issued whenever i had to spell darkness backward or recognizing keys sometimes for some reasons?
Kinda easy to cheat later ennemies by just keeping the quiet or seasickness spell on. You could make them add more and more spell on top of each other if you dont remove an old spell!
Great mood and musics. Too bad you're not really hugging people though. Would have made a better parody of hotline miami if you had pushed the hugging to the max.
Cute! Reminds me of my everyday life!
Hi, do you have a non post jam version that I can test for the voting?
Very cool concept. Would have loved converted turret to fight for you, and possibly basic ennemy happiness aircrafts attacking you.
I like the game boy style graphics. Random weapon is interesting though I would have liked more strategy based on that and maybe more puzzle actioney levels ?
Camera did look far enough and collision box with ennemy was very unforgiving!
Awesome pixel art. Didnt find there was much strategy to the gameplay however. It's too bad using another element converts all towers, would make some funny effects if you for exemple tried to maintain a vertical wall with 2 rock towers but then deal damage with some wind turrets in front of it. I feel you limit potential strategies by having only one element (or maybe it was a bug that it converted all on my game?)
That was really cool! Very nice concept of timing and ennemy movement management. Balance was pretty good too, though once you have all the upgrades the game becomes very easy.
Make wave difficulty increase faster and add some other ennemy types maybe ( maybe some ennemy immune to some type of spells?)
Vachement bien ^^
Nice gameplay idea, and good game length. Quite enjoyed the musics too :)
Dumb question: how did you guys do the text appearing letter by letter for the cutscene, in Fusion?
Very sluggish control. Picking up everything and managing their durability is fun. I would have liked more monster type ( I saw the giant zombie though)!
Would have loved a good cat sound effect when I maim zombies with him. :p
Great modelling skills and great setting. Really hard to pick up food, made left click too difficult to use!
I like the charge jump, mario bros 2 style but it's not really a "weapon"!
Very cool ressource management game. Really hard, havent been able to level up very far. Always get surprised by one wave totally destroying a tree and then I dont see how I can save the day since attacking trees are super expensive. I ll try again though!
Would have enjoyed a good sound when you whack someone with a towel!
Funny idea :)
Started slowing down at rage mode moment!
Great look and interesting idea. Gameplay got pretty frustrating with swords and ghosts killing you right after you used the cross on them. Gave up on the last boss, didn't understand what to do when he teleports over you!
Man, I had never been that scared by giant pills and rectangles. I finished it though!
The ghostly clunk sounds from the monsters freaked me out.
Those floating rectangles were too fast to manage though.
Pretty good AI ^^
Couldn't pass level two.
Would be nice if those unconventional weapons truly affected the gameplay rather than just the look.
Funny idea. Too easy to cheat the AI by just waiting under the platform. Would have been cool to have more level and difficulty ramping up.
I blew giant frogs eyes before falling into the endless!
Nice mood, somehow made me thinks of shadow of the beast, hehe.
I love mouse controlled games. I really liked that dunggeon music too. :)
However the ball was pretty much impossible to control ( i absolutely couldnt get my arm to the left side at all...) and ultimately my ball got stuck in a wall.
It s weird I take everything out of the zip ( windows build) but i get "There should be 'BruteForceCommander_Data'
folder next to the executable" even though the directory is right there. :/
Do you have the game jam version? It seems you are updating the build post jam time which we should not judge for the LD32.
Trippy. A bit hard to understand how it works at first!
Baw,same error here.
Thanks! I didnt know about itch.io, uploaded it there and changed the links!
Oh no, I had forgotten to make it public! Is it working now?
Thanks, that's awesome to hear! I actually started working on controller support yesterday, I'll link a new version in the description when it's done. :D
As in the night phase being way harder?
Thanks for playing!
@ultrarat: Yeah but you can't camp much in following days as guards spawn in the towers first.
Thanks!
Having only two levels was my trick to save time for that jam :p
Was hoping variation would come from the new types of ennemies and their special abilities.
For a full game I'd definitely rather have the doppel move from city to city.
Thank you! You can actually jump higher by holding but it's too sensitive (barely holding already gives the max jump). I'll edit that in the post jam version. :)
Thanks for checking my game even after votes ended! I love games that mix mechanics to avoid repetition, was fun to make! :)
I think I will add an easier mode because it seems a bit too hard overall.
Funny, you found my game while i was actually browsing your game ^^
Man, you made me use all my smarts! I ran out. Very nice puzzle design, it was very fun and the concept is super cool. Perfect use of the theme. :)
Haha great mechanics. I can see being really interesting if you make some uneven levels where changing wheel size matters. Going back from long car to regular or short often made my car flip in the air like crazy ( which was pretty funny but a bit hard to manage).
I was wondering why you put it as a mature game as I was playing... And then I unlocked the bull. Made me think of conker's bad fur day for the sudden switch from cute to gory :p
Ah man, lotsa great ideas there. Love how you went for a complete different style of game in the bull part.
Rabbit part played nicely and some nice puzzles there. Bull part was pretty buggy (couldnt jump half of the times) and really could have used some level design tweaks ( seemed like you really needed to know what was gonna happen to plan accordingly).
Genius idea. I love how you balanced things to avoid frustration with the lower ball auto aiming at bricks, that made the whole experience pretty smooth i think. In terms of balancing: found that that the in between shapes are actually best all around as its better to catch the ball than the ship and the very slow pellets actually make it easier to kill invaders because they stay longer on screen.
Holy shmolly, art, monster design and animations are so freaking amazing. Make this a full game please.
So good how the music changes based on the transformation, very empowering. 5/5
Also reminded me a bit of pocky and rocky, one of my fave snes games, but with a grim twist. :)
That was awesome dude. Gave up at 5500, wish the game got harder but doesnt really matter: game loop and mechanics are nailed. Great flair and voice acting. That dragon game looks cool too! :)
Any way to run or easily emulate linux games on Windows?
Ah sad, its looking for some dll lilgcc_s_dw2-1 might be because i m on win 64?
Funny idea, could not get past first level though. :U
Successfully got zero points!
Nice asymetry balanced with vision cone and long range. Pretty ambitious & risky to make an online game requiring pairing but it worked really well. :)
Very nice mood too!
Well that's glorious. Best entry I've seen. Game gets really difficult (made it to lvl 7)... How do you remove redness from eyes?
Pretty original idea!
Great mood and love the writing style. Is there no ending ? I got stuck at a constantly repeating message on black screen.
Phew, that got difficult fast. Very cool design mechanic and yay for blobs! Jumps/inertia and crates getting stuck against wall were a bit frustrating but very nice entry overall! I wanted to be able to transform into more things!
Ahhhh why is movement so sluggish ( even as wolf)! That goblin walk cycle is the cutest.
That wizard still shooting fire after you consume him really breaks the game :S
Cool concept otherwise.
Very cute game. Great smoke animation :D
Best level design I've seen in this jam so far and really cool movement mechanics to be discovered!
Got all coins except too and got stuck in a green door while searching for it :( ( i charged as triangle from the side into the green door et spawned as a circle inside the roof)
That was cool, got 4 points. Too bad the screen ends with a sad black border, that kinda kills the cool maelstrom vibe of the background.
The high score post jam made me want to play more :p
Got to 10 points. Its fun jumping from attacking to running away. Overall Water feels OP and fire is the worst.
Inspired by conker's bad fur day?
Awesome art and very complete set of special attacks and powers!
Cool gameplay, only got to 13 its tough! only weird control i got is that i go too fast while in shadow. Kinda wish the speed stayed the same, it was throwing me off.
Hehe wave 9 became ridiculous. Very cool game, love the explosion effect though every time i reconfigured i thought i had died.
Art, gameplay and sounds reminded of two awesome games: Cosmic Pirate and Continuum.
That was really cool! Cant believe you got some nice random level generator going with that! Love the action platform RPG combo ( i did something a bit similar but not as in depth for the purchase selection). Couldnt beat the boss ( I dont understand how to pass the spike room without getting hit at least once).
The sphere shape was really useless other than in puzzle rooms. Too bad there was no spikes in regular levels ( might have been tough to place those in random generation I suppose).
What happened?
That ending music...
Where am I?
Did I lose my soul?
Seriously I need that ending music though, can i get it somewhere?
Took me a while but I eventually got it. Highscore 18. It was pretty satisfying to crunch on people.
Oh And i m just reading now that you can hide... I should try again.
I also made a game where you have to hide to eat people :D
Did you make the screen shader for the jam or used something done? ( I noticed there's a "trial version" at the lower right)
Amazing palette and controls. Super fun to play. I think you were too hard on yourself in your blog post, the tutorial did a fine job for me. The issue was level design after the tutorial: not enough checkpoint for this kind of game. A super meat boy style game works when you can take break from a level and come back later: your game has no saves so you have to do it in one go which gets frustrating when everything is hard.
The other issue was that it was too much based on enemy timing. I gave up on the last puzzle because I was tired of waiting for the bats to line up everytime. Couldnt just run into it and have fun.
Last thing that would have helped is a motivating music but hey, in two days you got a bug free game with awesome art and tight controls. :p
PS: my game also has spikey blobs, yey ( and its also too difficult).
Why do you keep recommending the post jam version, it's very misleading even in its name.
Couldn't find more than one limb in jam version. :u
Very cool effect, it took me a while to notice it for some reason! Only realized everything getting warped when i got to the bed.
Great art and character design. Funny idea :p I didnt understand how to avoid goats...
Haha dire mold, great title. Cool concept too, best score was 5. I wish I could at least push back humans in dire mode, felt kinda unfair when they gang up on you and there's no way to get out.
Stuck on lantern too.
Gave up on the berries. Did you build all this art and envir from scratch? That's impressive. Massacred the whole village ( why is the hero killing them, i thought he wasnt transformed yet)
Hah, that was genius. Only thing that annoyed me: that camera was stuck to 4 direction, i wanted free rotation as sometimes it d turn just to get a large building in front of the person i was following and would get stuck for a few secs. Otherwise, great mood and idea. You somehow made shooting dogs fun? Which makes me sound like truly horrible person, good job.
Also my game is also about a shapeshifter infiltrating a city, except you play as the shapeshifter. :)
Beat it! Nice humor and design. Love that the bodies stay on screen and nice intervention from the frog.
Nice art! Too bad I dont have friends to play against. ;_;
And that battle music is so catchy.
I liked the 2.5 gameplay ( with monsters shooting from background) and that the bat walks on its wings when on the ground. I could not become a bomb.
Great visuals and audio, but I sincerely don't understand your game. o_o
No idea what's supposed to be done against eagles after trying many times.
PS: if you added other control tweaks post jam they should likely be in a separated build and not the ludum dare version. :o
Shapeshifting into explosions was not working?
Cute game. I wish the shapeshifting mechanic affected my game choices more. Currently its just touching a bad guy is bad or its very bad. Could have been "blobs move in diagonal when they change shape" forcing you to adapt quickly to movement mechanic.
Some levels started with blobs instantly cornering you with no way to survive ( level 5 i think) maybe due to them taking random directions at first.
I... I don't understand.
Best game title so far. :p
Too bad monsters can spawn right on you, pretty unfair. I got 1700 by mostly waiting as a pile of stuck just got stuck in walls. The concept is cool and the idea is funny but the randomization is a bit too broken.
Ambitious project! Very impressed with the art, great character design, modelling and texturing! I wish the theme was a bit more part of the game. The controls and camera were rough and good lord, i cant take more than 1/4 of his life.
Oh great music too!
Only one hit point? Couldnt beat it! Mechanics are cool but feels like you need to know the level pretty well to beat it?
I loved it, one of my favorite so far. That music just cracks me up. :D
I loved the design of each type of monster, very original ideas! Shapeshifting fly was nicely freaky, turrets getting more dangerous as you damage then and start hunting you, and the creepy growing slug you have to kill before it gets close... All great stuff.
I think i actually finished the game? Killed everything and destroyed every wall after something like level 6 or 7 but nothing happened.
Only big thing missing: SFX. That d do a lot for mood and getting alerted about monster presence.
Cant see my character at all ( windows version) :/
I tried with 1200 res but still getting the same issue mayank.
Hehe I know which tutorial you used on lynda.com :p
Is it missing some files ? I get a "run baby run.exe" and an error message " There should be 'Run Baby Run_Data'
folder next to the executable"
Pretty good endless runner, the randomization felt quite unfair at times! I wish there was less mines at first... And a way to retry without the mouse?
That was so good. Oh the feels...
Awesome concept. Would love to have to shapeshit into "ears" to be able to hear monsters come. Monsters were a bit weird, arms didnt seem to do anything on them. I think i got a bug when i reached a level's exit and it didnt get me anywhere but my character started sliding off.
I'd see buy this if it was fully polished! Has potential to be very creepy. :)
This is excellent! Not really on theme apart from maybe cultists turning into the byakkhee in the style of mansions of madness? Was able to win with a dynamite that got me to zero health and killed the damn byakhee, pretty epic!
Awesome result for a 3 day jam.
Also its kinda funny you can just zoom in & out infinitely. Looking forward to post jam versions. It'd awesome if you could leave me a message on my page if you make a way to follow potential dev of this game. Thanks :)
Really pretty art but I didnt really understand the game. Doesnt seem possible to lose?
Love it! Stunning pixel art and simple but smart mechanics ( + fun downwell intro hommage) :D Nailed the mood with the music too, really solid. I just wish the side dodge slowed you down some more, it kept getting me killed. Great job!
Yeah it might just be a getting used to thing, I often panicked dodge at last minute to the side and that doesnt work too well :P
Very cool. Great mechanics around the light management especially with the water. Good job on the camera work too! Kinda weird controls for level selection and that UI is confusing after you die easily leading you to go to the next level.
I liked the concept of dealing with a camera and recapturing memories. The game could really use some tutorial or hints of what buttons do / are available. Got stuck at the car pic with no idea of what to do.
Fun click fest though it was very easy. I wanna play as the other side!
Original idea that fits the theme well. I didnt understand how to get secrets?
Possibly the best entry for this jam so far for me. Very polished and focused design with a funny take on the theme. And gosh it's hard, lost my progress in the final level will have to try again ( its much easier once you figure out the solution - truly a puzzle game!).
Enjoyed the concept of bouncing magic battles though it got kinda repetitive (nothing that couldnt be solved with more content, bullet types and enemy patterns if there is a post jam version). The bullet cost upgrade didnt do anything for me, the cost was stuck at 10. Increasing damage seemed useless :p Good work though!
Wow that was ambitious! Pretty cool you got the map and battles code in and working.
That was fun! Pretty big world with great art for a jam :) The 3rd part seemed pretty chill compared to the 2nd!
Is there a way to play the compo version? Doesnt seem fair to test and rate based on the post compo version.
That was cool! Nice char design and animations, digging flesh has a nice squishy sound. Pretty classic platforming but solid experience overall. Glad there was infinite lives cause not sure how I was to figure out where spikes were after those big jumps where you cant see the ground. The game ending sentence will forever puzzle me.
Beautiful and touching story with amazing musics. Well done! :D
Really well done. The move set is well balanced and nice level design and enemy placement though this gets really brutal ( couldnt get past level 3). Harsh that there s no way to regen to starting health in between levels!
This is awesome. Would love: - ability to place flags from any distance - locking flagged blocks from being mined. Otherwise its too hard to jump mine blocks precisely. Hi score: 1387
I could see this game being polished or even adding some non minesweeper additions like consumable items or a progression. Great feeling when you hit a cave opening and it crumbles in succession!
I got 3 endings but two involved ( Spoiler) crows. Is there another one?
Gotcha, thanks! :D
Nice lil game with a fun theme. It was a bit hard to see the collectibles hidden by pots, reached the end without noticing any then backtracked to the beginning and scanned through each levels again to spot them.
Very original and awesome musics! Is there any place where we can get them? :D
Took me a while to realize i could double jump! Cool to see you pushed new mechanics all the way till the end even if they were not fully implemented in levels certainly due to lack of time. Nice lil game!
Flying feels really good and I had quite a bit of fun, but the difficulty felt way too brutal for me. Stopped at level 2 after a good 10 tries. Unfortunately unforgiving that any collisions basically kills that run. Agree with above comment that it would probably feel better if rings had no collision? Great entry nonetheless ( and balancing things in a jam is super hard).
Ah that's a fun idea. Cool concepts to have to go over chasms using speed. Could see some interesting puzzles using length and speed.
Cool designs and anims! The controls were a bit tough to manage but the concept of teleport combat is neat.
I always joke about making an MMO for a jam but you guys actually did it - and it works well! That's awesome :B
