Your OS X dropbox link is dead. :(

sukisan 2012-04-24 04:09

It's still uploading - takes aaaages. Sorry about that

robcozzens 2012-04-24 06:38

The graphics are amazing! The only problems are the quirky camera movements and the difficulty aiming (mainly at the bees).

r3ason 2012-04-24 06:42

You have fulfilled my fantasy of being a megasnail. For that, I thank you. :D Good job. Felt pretty solid (though there were a ton of bees/birds/plains/flying things outside of the walls; is this normal?). Would be cool if you "run over" the infantry guys. Thanks for sharing your game!

AWWEEESOMMMEEE :D

aus_mike 2012-04-24 13:12

Yeah!! Instant satisfaction!. Nice.
What resolution were the different textures?

crumpeted 2012-04-24 17:20

Good job! I really enjoyed playing it.

@robcozzens: The camera shaking was intended, but maybe we overdid it a bit ;-) And yeah, the bees, they are pretty nasty to aim at. We had the idea to add something like a little auto aiming, but didn't have the time. In return we changed the balancing a bit: they're doing less damage and give more points. In general the aiming might become a lot easier, if the camera wouldn't move all the time, but only when you're close to the screen edges.

@R3ason: You're welcome ;-) Looks like the bee's behavior needs to be a bit fine tuned. We always play-tested on a smaller map for the sake of star up performance and only changed the map size for the release (something you should always do... ;-)). So no, this is not intended, and probably easy fixed. For the infantry guys, you can jump which causes damage in the shockwave area. Running over would be cool too and maybe you should get hurt doing it.

@aus_mike: Most of them are 512x512, our main character got 1024x1024. Were you looking for something particular?

sukisan 2012-04-24 17:43

@aus: same is true for the normal maps

very nice game,good job!

Good work! Really fun concept. Got a bit of slowdown during the game on OS X, but still... MEGA SNAIIIL.

vilya 2012-04-26 00:27

We've actually printed out your title screen and stuck it on the wall at work - that's how much we like it!

The game is great fun too. That snail can really shift! :-) There were some minor issues with the controls (it seemed like it was taking a while for them to re-orient after the camera rotated?) but apart from that I love everything about this game!

shaunxcode 2012-04-26 03:59

hahahah! I believe the hype! that was like the digital equivalent of those plastic packing bubbles where you have to pop each and every one of them! I didn't realize you could jump til I had almost penetrated all of the houses. Smashing tanks was rad, wish I had laser eyes.

blob 2012-04-26 04:57

You get no points for the destruction of the city itself ? Apart from that disapointment it was very gratifying to destroy everything.

datamosh 2012-05-03 07:04

Impressive graphics! BEWARE OF THE GIANT SNAIL!

pierrec 2012-05-04 08:55

Megasnail ? You mean GIGAsnail!
Now I want to see a movie out of it!

dr_soda 2012-05-06 05:04

I like the snail's textures, and the modeling work on the various characters. The graphics were overall good.

On the other hand, I found the camera following mechanism to be a bit awkward. I never really could get the angles I wanted to see. The controls for the laser firing felt a bit picky too, as the lasers only last a split second.

Can you target and kill the bees at all? Eventually I found I had destroyed most of the buildings and all the land-based enemies, but there was nothing left to do other than be killed by bees.

Impressive : great work.
Love this game :)

PS: the game size :87MO => it's huge !
