LD46 — Keep it alive

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-21T03:12:02Z

the controls are relatively unresponsive (like a little laggy) but the concept and graphics are nice!

Electorite by Fireshake 2020-04-21T06:19:39Z

A really fun game to play all the way through, although I really think it could be improved by having a timer taken and number of deaths on the final screen. This way you could have some reason to play through more than once :). The only rating I struggled with is graphics, because I can see you tried really hard to keep consistency and style but your tutorial screen is drawn in mspaint and it hurts my soul.

Garden Keeper by lo-x 2020-04-21T07:00:21Z

I finished the game, it took a really long time but it was relatively enjoyable although. It did crash as soon as I won so I could not even explore my creation :(

Sunflower Strife by Sami 2020-04-23T03:27:27Z

The game is nice to play, but I would have liked some form of scoring system for those who don't make it to save the flower - alternatively you could make it clearer when the flower is growing so you can feel the tension when you're about to win vs about to lose. Interesting physics and the sounds were not repetitive which is always nice, although I agree the volume could be reduced and sound effects be added.

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-21T06:04:22Z

I loved the game, although my only criticism was that the "end score' was about how long you kept him alive for but you could stand there for quite a while and he wouldn't die. There wasn't an obvious way to know how long you had until that happened? Otherwise, I could have played this for a long time!

BEARable apples by FlyingKiwi 2020-04-22T06:27:06Z

@johnnydalvi that's true, it's somewhat like that intentionally. Even a non gamer can enjoy the game (it's not overly stressful) for 2+ minutes which is the kind of balance we wanted, but we also wanted there to be a difficulty to it that meant with a lot of skill and some early luck, you could do very very well. I personally don't think it's possible to exceed 6 minutes and no one has proven me wrong yet. This does make it feel really short lived but without some form of expansion into permanent power ups and different levels, I think that's how I want a casual LD game to be (especially my first!). Double massive thanks again to @veeramandadraws for her first time ever doing gamer art and it came out stunning, and for @flyingkiwi and @tom-stroll to lend their expertise and experience.

AMT: Alien Medical Technician by No Grapes Games 2020-04-21T05:57:31Z

You rated and played my game, so I thought I should check yours out and I'm so glad that I did !

It was very creative, fun and easy-to-learn hard-to-master mechanics. The rhythm genre worked so well for the theme and it might just be the game I've rated highest so far! The only thing I will say is your Hard mode instructions show the medium difficulty on the top left corner but it only confused me for about 3 seconds. Props for the Art (very unique and funny) and music syncing to the play.

Beached by Andre Fremaux 2020-04-21T03:54:57Z

This is really cool! I would love if there was a "time completed in" score system where it showed how long it takes you to save the turtle

Fire Keeper by Dukebot 2020-04-21T23:55:57Z

Survived 72 seconds on my first try but it gets a lot harder, very quickly! Is it meant to be that you can pick up the logs by accident instead of letting them go onto the fire? I assume so, interesting mechanic!

Walking immediately around the fire annoyed me a little bit but it didn't detract from the experience, it actually added to the challenge. Overall a very fun little game :)

Egg Bounce by SteelySam 2020-04-21T04:11:06Z

Frustratingly difficult but very very unique

Luna The Woodcutter by Floxnu 2020-04-21T03:21:54Z

I like the game but I got all 3 pieces of equipment and then I'm kinda stuck on what to do next? Is there a scoring/timer system to record a person best? Is there somewhere else I need to go? Am I missing something?

The game is very creative and the graphics are nice though.

Sound Player by celvin 2020-04-21T04:08:40Z

I got frustratingly stuck on level 4 but I'll tell you one thing, very very innovative. I love it. It's a very clever puzzle game - nice work.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Ascend by almost 2020-10-06T02:34:08Z

Ahhhh it's so hard to get past the middle section where the pandas are... can we have a hint!!? :s

Ascend by almost 2020-10-06T04:22:34Z

I made it :D! Thank you (I took a one hour nap break first to refresh myself ) Such a magical ending, thank you! A absolutely gorgeous game, worthy of incredible marks. I can't fault it at all.

Ascend by almost 2020-10-06T04:29:08Z

@quack-doctor I think I MAYBE could do it, if I spent long enough working it all out. The challenge is just perfect actually, I'm a little impatient though.

load_save(); by rubr 2020-10-06T02:00:50Z

Very unique game, very well designed and implemented. Gives a very good challenge and I love the style and vibe. Nice one! It's somehow a little complex but after a while you get it.

Loopy Orbits by Ziamor 2020-10-06T01:42:59Z

This may be one of the most exciting simple ludum dare games I've ever played. Nice work!

The Jolly Journey of J.J.'s Jelly-Jamventure by TJ101010 2020-10-06T02:07:41Z

Very clever game design and fun story and art! Nice one :D

This Loop (TM) by CJGladback 2020-10-10T04:47:41Z

Is the loop, the fact that the game is never loading :(? I waited 10 minutes so far :s

This Loop (TM) by CJGladback 2020-10-10T05:39:56Z

@cjgladback I just reloaded it again and it loaded instantly. Cheers! :D

Hammy the Hamster by FlyingKiwi 2020-10-06T04:25:27Z

@binaryprinciple I agree with you, but we didn't want to be unfair and admit ourselves into a category for which we did not do any of the creation. These are free to use sounds and music that we didn't create and we acknowledged that by opting out of the category.. You can add your support to how they work to the overall, humour, fun and mood categories in spite of that though! :D We did spend a long time trying to make everything fit together well :)

Hammy the Hamster by FlyingKiwi 2020-10-10T00:16:42Z

A special award goes to anyone who can beat my highscore :D chrome_OO2A04UrkI.png

Color Loop by bubbadubc 2020-10-06T01:52:02Z

I like everything about it, except that the green and yellow are slightly too similar for me, so I struggle on the quicker levels there :s. Otherwise, awesome concept and idea!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Aye! Aye! Captain! by Lumous 2021-04-28T05:37:57Z

I enjoyed your game and found it quite unique for what I thought was going to be a standard "let's go deeper in the ocean" game. Very nice!

Go deep by gogu 2021-04-28T05:41:59Z

Wow , this is a very creative take on the theme! I enjoyed it and of course would LOVE to see some further levels and new mechanics! All in all, amazing given the time limit!

Dive to live by Jammin 2021-04-28T09:46:43Z

Very gorgeous art and music - and the game play is simple, subtle and well executed. Nice work!

dog descends dungeon, dies? by Craggar 2021-04-27T09:08:12Z

i love the idea, althought not the most original concept? that being said, a fun play and love your characters :D

Esophagus' inCRYPTion by Baconeta 2021-04-27T12:30:54Z

@zolar agree with the arrow thing - it's why we dind't make it a priority... but the text is a good idea. The text notif system was built quite late so I didn't get to do everything with it that I wanted to do, sadly. Sorry all for the bugs and jarring camera though... :D

A Taste of the Past by Emily Pitcher 2021-04-27T09:52:54Z

This is a top 10 game in most categories from me. I absolutely freaking love this, and I know you will do very well. Very, very well done. No other words. Only tears.

Down for the kiwi by AniMagik 2021-04-27T07:05:37Z

I found the controls INCREDIBLY challenging, but the concept is cute, the story is cute and I can see this being a very fun project. Has a lot of potential, but almost finishes too soon!

Get to the ground! by Bman911411 2021-04-28T05:52:05Z

It seems nothing is uploaded here or on itch :(

LD49 — Unstable

Ebb and Feel by Baconeta 2021-10-05T05:35:00Z

@not-tomo we did consider speeding them up... but we didn't get any playtester or self feedback to reminded us to actually do it!

@3lstmsinatrenchcoat @sorrer thanks for playing and for giving feedback! Honestly, we were gonna roll with our sad level to be a little slower feeling than the others but we just never sped it up on the others. A quick and minor change I think we could easily make.

@hwaet @seracrooce I was literally so close to fixing the animations but I just ran out of crunch time :( It was based on a bug that I've fixed before so i knew what to do... Next time I'll prioritise better but if you wanna give it a another replay in a few days on our dev branch, please come check back!!

Ebb and Feel by Baconeta 2021-10-05T17:31:09Z

@brooobin hey! thank you for playing!

The sliding is a known issue (oops, that's my bad) that I've fixed but don't want to add onto the main code branch in the spirit of LD. The enemies are supposed to disappear, although it shouldn't be quite so sudden as it is (and should let the player know more info about them through notifications). To explain, it is a representation of sanity that the monsters are disappearing.

Hope this helps!

Ebb and Feel by Baconeta 2021-10-05T19:06:45Z

@st00nsa Monsters don't kill you, but they do something else :)

There's a few tricks to getting past the spiky bushes... can you figure it out?

Thank you for giving our game a go though! We appreciate you :)

Ebb and Feel by Baconeta 2021-10-05T19:18:54Z

@st00nsa ... it's kind of part of the experience of problem solving to figure it out! :) Try checking out the flowers on one of the early platforms... some messages appear as you play - read and solve ;)

Also the potion(s) has(ve) a slight effect that makes one of the mechanics of the game easier or harder, depending on where you are.

Part of the challenge is to work it out! :D

Wobbly Penguins by bqq 2021-10-07T20:47:44Z

I loved it a lot! Completely random, but very well executed. Thank you for the experience of wobbly penguins :D

RTFM - LD49 by straighter 2021-10-05T17:38:49Z

@julia-zhu the interaction key is F - I just found it (had the same problem as you..!) good luck :)

RTFM - LD49 by straighter 2021-10-05T18:00:49Z

Overall, I love the game. It's simple, it's done very well and it's very crisp overall. My main complaint is that the levers don't reset on a new sequence! That makes it much harder :P I find it really hard though... I still didn't win haha. Nice submission, keep it up =)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Inky Towers by Shane Gadsby 2022-04-05T16:44:02Z

I absolutely adore it and can't think of anything to critique except MAYBE the lag on some physics processes (very rare, but I got to around 180 score in 4 or 5 plays and it happened maybe 3 times).

Amazing work though, wow. I'm blown away

Sunday Traffic by Mads 2022-04-05T08:18:47Z

This was a genuinely enjoyable play! Thank you for your hard work and congratulations on the result you produced! I particularly loved the countdown over top of this insanely peaceful music.. it kept playing in the background while I was "working" and alarmed me because I thought I had put on some ambient music!

Look at what these jams do to us :D

Meteor Power by UkuleleFury 2022-04-05T16:30:36Z

I loved the uniqueness of it, and I'm mega impressed with what you accomplished ALONE. Kudos!

I did find it super difficult to understand what everything was doing but that seems like the spirit of it.

Meteor Power by UkuleleFury 2022-04-05T16:36:57Z

@ukulelefury I had music so I think somehow it was okay for me :D

Don't Die, Dodo! by Baconeta 2022-04-05T16:32:32Z

@andrey-zhukov That's part of the magic! You don't actually control Dodo... he's too eclectic for that! Have you ever met a dodo before - they're cray cray! :D

Hospital Dash by brads.space 2022-04-05T16:14:17Z

Chaotic but simple concept! I feel a little sick after jerking around with the camera too much but it does feel intentional so I respect that. I was NOT a fan of the squeaking turning noise, it was very off-putting. Otherwise I loved it and nice work!

Department Of Demise by Crychair 2022-04-05T16:57:14Z

This is one of the best ludum dare games I have ever played. I am blown away. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Auto Parker by BathPirate 2022-10-04T19:53:14Z

Am I missing something or is there no audio at all? Definitely think you should be opting out for audio in that case

Reboot by Astrydax 2022-10-05T10:49:53Z

This was one of the greatest small games I have ever played and definitely maybe the most fun in LDJam! I have no specific feedback for you beyond just being impressed - thank you!

Field O' Fiends by Baconeta 2022-10-03T22:49:44Z

@carolinewang thank you so much for the lovely feedback! I am so glad you enjoyed it, was still working on promo right as you commented!!

Field O' Fiends by Baconeta 2022-10-04T18:39:20Z

@cypheus I'm sorry you felt that way! To be fair, that is one of the challenges we came to - trying to balance a game for both mobile and web - and also cater to both younger players and more seasoned ones! If you want a real challenge, can you beat the Colonel (there's a shortcut to him on the front screen) without running through the pre build up levels? ;)

Field O' Fiends by Baconeta 2022-10-04T19:54:37Z

@slimefriend that is definitely a feature I was hoping to squeeze in last minute, and did not. Apologies if it made it a bit harder - especially if you didn't hear/couldn't hear the audio! Glad you enjoyed it though and thank you for playing <3

Field O' Fiends by Baconeta 2022-10-06T12:24:55Z

@james-joubert Most people take a while to notice this (unless they play with mobile - which I recommend!) but you can actually hold down the attack button in this version and once you have a boosted attack speed you should do pretty fine

@eerongal Thank you so much for playing!

@karlestonchew nice score and thank you for your play and review! They were meant to be like..cute jump scares, so it seems they did their job XD

@sanemsky Thank you so much!

@tatawanda I agree with you but it does tend to get quite chaotic as you go further so the ability to calm down for a few seconds becomes vital - and also it can help you take less hits if you manage to use the day time to position yourself accurately... note that while we haven't revealed the exact scoring system, taking less damage definitely helps..

Bygone Melodies by Save Sloth Studios 2022-10-04T18:36:36Z

No idea if I did well or not, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I usually enjoy rhythm games but something about this was a bit more challenging than usual. Not sure if I can give you anything new in my feedback but I wanted to make sure you knew that I thought it was gorgeous and well done!

Also, how much art can one human make in such a short time?!

chrome_WlRe4sGuD5.png

Piggy's adventure by Gheorghe Topa 2022-10-04T13:43:00Z

Fun, interesting but very chaotic in maybe not the best ways :tophat: I think the art and sound is done well (although like another commenter, many art styles in one). But the playability and the controls are quite complex and not super smooth! I don't understand the point of the fruit but that might be because I never made it to the end, and also ... what is happening every 10 seconds?? XD Love it though - very cute and amazing for a first jam :D

LD53 — Delivery

Styx and Stones by Baconeta 2023-05-02T19:27:18Z

@matthewrf thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it! Re the number of souls you need to collect.. well let's just say it's an arbitrary number that was meant to give us the ability to tune it a lot lower, forcing a few play throughs before you saw the endgame, only due to time, the leader boards and endgame got "skipped".

@hmrpf thanks for your feedback! We definitely were so ambitious in the scope of the general game that we ended up not spending enough time tuning and concretely navigating the mechanics to be extra fun. But I'm super glad you enjoyed it!

@veralos I have a feeling you played the version that was cached before tuning. For some reason, itch never ended up showing the final version in time for many players and so you may have missed the best version we had at the time :'( this might also have been the same for @nuin @frib and @catbutt

@holydemiurge we have leaderboards ready now but we didn't want to put them out too early and spoil the spirit of the jam, since we techncially only hooked them up after the 72 hour window and had finished our playtesting :( Then again, it doesn't really change any gameplay or features so we are thinking to add it in anyway once most of the votes have already come in and show it as a post jam update

Styx and Stones by Baconeta 2023-05-05T13:27:15Z

@johnsensei @sjpixels we could do a windows downloadable build if you wanted. It's a good idea really. Technically it should be enough to play in browser, though you may need to click the full screen button in the bottom right hand corner for the best experience. I have also added it in our list to try and see how a slightly smaller window works out for some post jam stuff:) @k8n sorry you didn't enjoy all the dialogue! We put a pretty hefty focus on it to make sure the repetitive-ish gameplay would still feel interesting to try and continue to go through. And the little mid game dialogue was intended to be distracting, so that's great! :P

Thanks all for playing and enjoying <3

LD54 — Limited Space

StarDust by Geckoo1337 2023-10-08T20:04:52Z

A great entry with great execution, nice work! I enojoyed exploring and figuring out the world around me :)

PIO by sbeif 2023-10-03T14:28:38Z

Brilliant game concept, I would love to see what someone (you?) could do with a lot longer and a bunch more mechanics and polish. For the game jam timeframe, it was fantastic.

Blade Jumper by DeadByDeath 2023-10-05T13:54:58Z

Things I enjoyed: the character movement and control was crisp and felt very natural and reasonably forgiving. I also liked the varied cast of characters (though barely noticed a difference between some of them coz I whizzed through once I figuered out what to avoid). The audio was good, nothing mind blowing, however it did suit the game as a whole.

Things I didn't enjoy: I could not find any good way that this linked to the theme, nor did it contain much playability which is disappointing for such a great character and solid movement. I didn't understand anything I was trying to do at first, and there were a few graphical tears in the screen. Also, it seems I made it to the end but I didn't even notice that it should be the end (I walked there by mistake) and so that could be telegrahped a lot better.

Overall, a good entry with a lot of room to make it more full :D

Setting the Stage by Baconeta 2023-10-03T11:38:03Z

Hello everyone! Just wanted to address comments and let you know that the serious bugs that crashed the game are fixed so if you had any major issues please play again :D @manatee-webster interesting bug! I didn't come across that one but you never know. It does keep your best score though - was it your first time playing that track? Thanks for your feedback and for playing our game!

@vary The audio was broken and is now working. I hope you are willing to spend a minute more checking it out and agreeing that our musician is the best around!

@kanity There was a bug where the names of the isntruments werne't popping up! This one wasn't so bad but it happened because of another crash in the game. That crash is fixed so the popups should work again :D let us know if you try it again and do better :P you might also get some new songs you haven't seen before (they randomise on each "week" ;)

@lexyvil That indeed was a bug. I'm sorry about that! IT should be resolved now but your progress may be lost as we uploaded the fix. Let us know if you try again and do even better. If you get a 4-5 star song, it usually sounds great - wouldn't you agree??

Setting the Stage by Baconeta 2023-10-04T11:07:05Z

@furano What device and browser were you using, if you don't mind? This is the first bug of this kind I have seen :(

Setting the Stage by Baconeta 2023-10-04T11:19:36Z

@furano Thanks for your quick answer! I will take a look into the nitty gritty tomorrow. Watch this space and maybe you will also get a chance to try it again on mobile anyway. It also works wonderfully on computer though, if you remember to check it out there !

Setting the Stage by Baconeta 2023-10-05T06:08:26Z

@borabee I'm sorry the game didn't save your progress - usually it does! Maybe something weird with your browser data? 🥲

I am also looking into some other ways to make that 6 person song to be a lot nicer to select for 😅

Thanks for playing though!

Setting the Stage by Baconeta 2023-10-05T21:21:43Z

Hey @caryoscelus ! Great question! Firstly, our musician came up with some tracks, and then we asked them to make different versions of the separate instrument tracks that we could use in the game. We built a dynamic data based system that was able to pair which tracks are considered which quality of playing and then as the player makes selections we build the instrument tracks together into a single track based on their competency with the instruments. If an instrument doesn't exist in a particular track, we randomly selected a global track for that instrument that fit the chosen musicians competency level with it.

It sounds fancy but really it was just a lot of data entry and careful planning :D

Contact Range by QueenOfSquiggles 2023-10-03T22:13:12Z

I enjoyed this, even though I got stuck a couple of times in a room that drained oxygen but no spiders remained :( But all in all, it was a good narrative with a good level of exploration. I found the movement controls overly sensitive at first but good thing there's a setting for that.. Overall, great work :D

Stretchmancer by Choo 2023-10-05T21:43:58Z

Deck Derby: Sluglord's Speedway by Baconeta 2024-10-08T21:28:24Z

Hey! @kanity and thanks for playing our game<3 Both of those issues are known - the first one is incredibly rare, the second a little less so. They are the main (pun intended) bugs in the game :id:

You will notice you can play a shortcut card and it will stay active until it is needed... if you try that you'll see the moments where you must play it to get the best value :)

Deck Derby: Sluglord's Speedway by Baconeta 2024-10-10T19:47:52Z

Solid and decent challenge! I would love a bunch of new challenges, maybe in the way of different maps/paths options! But this is still very impressive for the time <3

Btw I played on both mobile and PC. I would say it works perfectly fine on PC (but no restarting, which is a very nothing missing feature).
