Came into the game blind so when it suddenly turned dark and I was getting ambushed by these cute little flowers on the field I was very taken aback. The art style is very charming and the game seems very well-made for a jam! You guys did a great job! :D :sunflower:

controls are a bit clunky but I did enjoy the game, I like the idea behind it and how you have to position yourself in the right spot so that once plants become monsters you get the most optimal strategie lol, also made it to the top of the leaderboard.. for now..

I must admite, the leaderboard idea is really smart, I don't think I would've played as much as I did if there wasn't a leaderboard waiting for my name to reach the top lol

A great little game, the music is excellent and I especially love the artwork. I'm determined to make it past wave three, but those darn purple trees keep getting me. The ability to level up my skills at the end of each wave keeps it repayable so I can try out different strategies. Wonderful job everyone :)

Nice game! One thing I felt frustrated with is attack range: there's no hit indication when you attack the enemies, so it's really unclear whether I've hit them or not, and the range felt too close even after several upgrades.

I really liked the mood of this game overall. The graphics are very cute and the music gives a nice flowing ambience, and the little story is fun. My biggest problem with the game is lack of challenge. I went for a very long time without taking damage and not feeling like I was having to try very hard, so I lost interest.

@cypheus I'm sorry you felt that way! To be fair, that is one of the challenges we came to - trying to balance a game for both mobile and web - and also cater to both younger players and more seasoned ones! If you want a real challenge, can you beat the Colonel (there's a shortcut to him on the front screen) without running through the pre build up levels? ;)

I love this! I think adding that extra element of positioning yourself and surveying the battlefield before night falls is cool. I will say, I think this game could really really benefit from an enemy hurt indicator -- even them just flashing red. But otherwise I loved it! Good job!

@slimefriend that is definitely a feature I was hoping to squeeze in last minute, and did not. Apologies if it made it a bit harder - especially if you didn't hear/couldn't hear the audio! Glad you enjoyed it though and thank you for playing <3

That's nice, good take on the theme! I think it is lacking something to do during the day, something other than collecting drops. I mean, the rythm was a bit saw tooth as the result of the day night mechanic and a bit boring on the day part. You could also add a different music during the night to get more oomph and underline the dangerousness of it. Overall, the game is clean, it's cool.

@james-joubert Most people take a while to notice this (unless they play with mobile - which I recommend!) but you can actually hold down the attack button in this version and once you have a boosted attack speed you should do pretty fine

@tatawanda I agree with you but it does tend to get quite chaotic as you go further so the ability to calm down for a few seconds becomes vital - and also it can help you take less hits if you manage to use the day time to position yourself accurately... note that while we haven't revealed the exact scoring system, taking less damage definitely helps..

Really good work! I liked that you can level up your stats depending on your need. I would have liked it if the enemies had some kind of indicator on how much health they have left. The day part felt a bit long as there was nothing really to do (or I missed something) other than walking around and checking the for enemies. But overall a really good job, nicely polished and fun to play!

The music was nice. I also really liked the idea - fighting with a farmer asthetic seems a bit different. What was annoying to me though was that I felt really slow, maybe something was weird with my controls but it felt like I was barely moving. However, the visuals are plain gorgeous and go really well together. Overall a nice entry I think.

Cute idea - found it a little tricky to control with a trackpad / keyboard combo. Impressive quality / amount of graphics given the time restraints.

Nice litlle game!

I tried the webgl build on my phone. Control where hard to handle, with the provided joystick sometime not returning to their zero, so the character kept walking/attacking without me inputing anything. It is however a really cool feature to have added those to play on mobile, especially for a jam game!

I also felt like the feedbacks could be improved upon, especially for the attack animation. You never really know if you hit something or miss. A hit animation on the ennemies (like juste turning red for a few frame for example) would have helped a lot.

The art was cute and diversified, well done!

One more good point, your tutorial is short, comprehensive and goes directly to the point. It is this really easy to know what to do from the first try.

Interestingly, a very similar game idea to mine, although yours is much more polished. The graphics are great and the audio is amazing. Sometimes it takes a while to find the last few enemies hiding in the corners though, especially when you have to wait for the next night to attack them. It might also be a bit on the long side for Ludum Dare, I have been playing for 15 minutes and I don't think I'm close to losing ( or winning? ). I had to pause to rate the game, but I might continue later on when I have more time because it's been quite fun, which is always a good thing.

I love the popcorn attack ! So creative for the boss 😇 I enjoyed the calm mood.

Maybe the hitbox is sometimes offset a litte. Instead of put the hitbox on the full player, maybe put it square only on feets to fake a 2.5d environment ?

Definitely a strong entry, enjoyed playing this, as well as the pun around the name of the boss. The progression of the player made sense and was fun to see the evolution of attacks. The day night cycle was decently done, and I loved the character artstyle.

Ok I must confess I got confused at the start as it starts with Day on, so you can't hit anyone ) But later it got I got the idea that you need to hit the monsters at night and collect the drops during the day. Nice idea, pretty challenging! Liked the graphics and audio! One thing that can be improved is player hitbox, feels a bit too large when projectiles flights at you. Good job!

Nice little game 🌿

The art is cute and quite clear, the idea of having a mix of stress and time to rest is cool, and it's nice that you can play on mobile!

I felt like the game could benefit of being a bit more nervous. Maybe faster movement, or a smaller arena. It's sometimes a bit long to go all around the place because some enemy is hiding in a corner! Also, a bit more feedback when hitting enemies would be nice. There is sound, but you could still add a lot: small shake, hit stun, simple animation or color change!
