LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Ten Seconds to Midnight by Alchemic 2022-10-04T23:13:17Z

Definitely hard. I enjoy the basic idea and the mechanic of skating/skiing, but the controls aren't polished enough to really get in a flow. Still, I appreciated playing for a while and trying to get a little further each time. It's simple, but it works for what it is. I don't mind that it was "Within 10 Seconds" instead of "Every 10 seconds"; still felt relevant.

Groceries, Please! by Togis 2022-10-05T14:03:29Z

Wow, I was stressed trying to ring things up fast enough... But good concept execution! There is definitely plenty for the player to do at all times. The game does what it set out to do, and if you like this sort of thing it's got some replay value for the high score. I didn't really get the /feeling/ of anything significant happening every 10 seconds; it just felt like one big flow. So I'd say it was a little weak on the theme, but other than that it was nice!

Gladiatorius by Juutis 2022-10-09T23:56:21Z

The mood is good, music and art appropriate, and this has potential, but my biggest gripe is that it feels very slow. It's also definitely a guessing game, as you already know, so there's not much depth here. I played through about 5 rounds and it just didn't keep me occupied after that because I didn't feel like I was making a meaningful contribution to my own success, and half the time both of us were just making passive moves... which made it feel even slower. But I know these things take time and I appreciate the feel of the game you created here! Thanks for submitting!

Call It A Day by Stenyin 2022-10-04T17:44:47Z

I really like the concept of this game overall. The atmosphere with the art and music is perfect for what you're trying to do, and the story is amusing. I had a bug when I downloaded it with the controls; it had me permanently moving left if I wasn't pressing anything else, so that was hard to control. The web version didn't have a control issue.

My biggest issue with the game is that the controls for grabbing the bones don't always feel very good or consistent. Trying to get lined up perfectly is a bit of a pain.

By The Bullet by Nakami 2022-10-09T19:20:21Z

I love the idea of this! It really has the potential to be built into something a lot more in depth. Definitely fun but also quite hard. Great submission

Tower of Kraduul by Zliebowitz 2022-10-09T16:52:32Z

A had fun! It's a simple defense game, but the mood of the game made it enjoyable. The cards definitely need some rebalancing, and it would be nice to see health & other stats on all the units... but of course for a game in three days this is great ^_^

Curse of the Wereburger by Brainloaf Studio 2022-10-04T22:26:09Z

This is a very well put together game! The feel is cohesive, and it's definitely amusing. The art style is very appropriate as well as the somewhat ambient music. The only thing that made me really take off stars was using a "10 moves" theme instead of an "Every 10 Seconds" theme, since that greatly changes the flow of a game; it's the difference in having as MUCH time to think as you want... and having to keep moving. But still, aside from the theme complaint it's a great game.

Field O' Fiends by Baconeta 2022-10-04T16:13:47Z

I really liked the mood of this game overall. The graphics are very cute and the music gives a nice flowing ambience, and the little story is fun. My biggest problem with the game is lack of challenge. I went for a very long time without taking damage and not feeling like I was having to try very hard, so I lost interest.

Cybermachine by coolestdoggie 2022-10-06T20:32:16Z

As shooters go this definitely feels responsive and looks great. There's a good amount of polish on the basics and that lets you feel immersed in the game. The biggest issue here is the same issue with our game and others I've played.... which is you have to wait around for 10 seconds sometimes. But this theme was hard to make unique and still flow perfectly, so I am giving leeway there ^_^ Even without music, the sound effects do a great job with audio immersion as well.

Tender Bar! by infecsean 2022-10-04T16:35:52Z

Absolutely could not get any customers to accept drinks. I clicked on them in all kinds of ways, walked through them.... it just seems broken. Re-opened the game and same problem. The graphics are fine for what they are; I like SNES style stuff so it's cute; probably the best part since the rest isn't really working? The music is basic and sounds like something from a random youtube video tutorial but it gets the job done. =-D

Also, which employee decided it was a good idea to toss hordes of stools out at complete random on the floor xD

Geometry Wave by JackRoxton 2022-10-05T14:11:20Z

Bro this game is heckin' hard. I did survive over 40 seconds once, though. You barely have time to move AND shoot, which is a problem. The enemies stack up quickly. If the movement controls were separate from the aiming it would help. But it IS a basic little shooter that works. Thanks for submitting!

(PS: Did you intend to turn all ratings off for your game??)

🌙 Night Shift by Puree Adventure 2022-10-09T17:31:50Z

The art and mood are fantastic and really carry the game. Without being a silly little unicycle frog, it wouldn't have been nearly as fun. It looked like I was killing the goose

The most frustrating part was not being able to see the direction of the customer and move at the same time, (and maybe also that I couldn't exactly know where the pizza house was at all times...) but it was easy to overcome.

BRUTALPLAGUE by Just Another Noob 2022-10-04T18:25:58Z

This was... interesting, but felt only loosely put together.

Also I didn't see anything happening "Every 10 seconds" ? I think it was the enemy waves, but it wasn't evident.

The best thing I can say about it is you matched the atmosphere of the music and the enemies, and I could see what you were going for.

EDIT: I went back and played again... and found out that the grapple works if you hit the boxes floating in the air. That wasn't immediately apparent. That isn't explained anywhere though... and the guns still don't feel very responsive, which is pretty much the whole game. Even though I supposedly know it was supposed to be "reloading", it seemed to happen way too often and didn't feel right. The enemy AI was also strange.

But you did put a game together! And it kind of works! So keep making them and do what you love ^_^

Time: Cardmancer by AkaCMD 2022-10-05T14:31:35Z

The style and mood feel great, and I really want to love it... but it's difficult to understand what's going on. I think a bit more visual feedback with some of the cards would help with that. I felt like the 2x speed and 1/2 speed weren't even doing anything. Not sure what was happening, but that definitely made it a lot less fun when those take up half my deck choices.

The concept is a unique take on the card-battler games though, and it could easy be polished and expanded on. Thanks for submitting!

The Lamplighter by SelkieHarbour 2022-10-04T17:13:22Z

Definitely great for the mood. The distance on interacting with enemies and lamps felt right. The lamp seemed a bit hard to crank up; I felt like I shouldn't be having to spam quite as hard to get it going.

Even without music there's a good feel to it with the environment sounds. Pretty simple overall but executed well!

Every 10 Seconds I Find New And Exciting Ways To Hate Myself by ActuallyTheMoon 2022-10-04T22:57:26Z

I enjoyed this philosophical take on the "Every 10 Seconds" idea. The focus of the game is definitely on the dialogue and the thoughts, since the gameplay and "puzzles" aren't meaningfully difficult. Yet still, I felt like it was offering me something unique.

Admittedly it did get a bit depressing, though I thankfully don't suffer from chronic depression anymore.... but this is a real issue that people face, and I can see how a game like this may be cathartic for them, feeling heard and explored. Or maybe it will make them feel worse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Spell Forest by mathead 2022-10-04T22:03:46Z

The mood of the game is great. I love the lighting effects in the forest. The upgrades are a bit too random to be useful sometimes if you get unlucky earlier on. Definitely hard. Would be nice if the upgrades were more consistent early on and you didn't get overwhelmed quite as quickly.

LD53 — Delivery

Space Docker by Wahooney 2023-05-04T20:08:21Z

The game definitely looks slick and has a futuristic mood to it. There wasn't really much of a puzzle aspect, but the controls were smooth so it felt good at least. I didn't understand why when I walked into the shadow my character would vanish for a bit then come back?? Mysterious shadow lands.

The Last Package by Wojciech Bruski 2023-05-02T17:13:18Z

This game is kinda funny; the package works very hard to deliver itself across the worlds most dangerous hotel. Overall it feels nice, though it seemed a bit too easy to lose control of the package when moving quickly.

Swallow Express by Tomssuli 2023-05-04T20:57:15Z

Very nice game overall! Great job! For some reason my gamepad wasn't working with the game, so that was a let down, but I gave my spacebar a nice workout instead. The dialogue added nice flavor to the missions and gave motivation to keep going. The graphics are appropriately quaint, and the music felt right.

The flying felt a little bit frantic overall, but still manageable. The glide function didn't seem to be of much use as it mostly felt more effective to just keep tapping the button instead.

On the eagle part, the game froze for several seconds while it was loading the sky scene and then again when re-entering forest scene, but it did eventually work.

Delivery survival by S1l3Jamal 2023-05-02T19:21:23Z

Had fun clicking packages to open, but there seems to be no real strategy other than luck, so it lost my attention quickly. Also, one of your sound effects has a massive subwoofer hit and it scared me. =-D

The Holy Scanner by Teun de Vries 2023-05-04T00:41:18Z

Loved the art and music. This kind of quirky stuff is great to me, and it's well executed. A side-scrolling run & gun is a simple concept, so the feel is everything, and this game sells it well with the atmosphere. Still, there wasn't much depth to the strategy with there being no platforming and limited need for dodging, but overall it's a great game.

Grab N' Dash by kyboon 2023-05-04T00:15:06Z

Way to stress me out, but in a good way. I really wanted all the claws to be controlled by one hand (ASDF) instead of separated, since that seems like it would be more intuitive, but maybe that was part of the design decision to make it harder and more novel.

Good feel overall. Simple but effective art.

Careless Couriers by python-b5 2023-05-07T22:49:36Z

I really like the art and general feel of this game, and I really wanted to love skating around, but the controls felt more frustrating than fun to me. It was so easy to bump into things, and not only does it completely stop your movement, but you can also only survive a few bumps! And maybe that wouldn't be so bad except the steering does not feel smooth or intuitive at all. Even just trying to turn around and grab the 3 packages at the start felt way harder than it should.

Still, I was able to deliver a few packages at least!

Delivery of Duty: Same Shift Different Package by Surfa 2023-05-03T00:10:59Z

This has a good feel/mood to it overall. The helicopter handled a little wonky to me, and the vertical controls seemed unnecessarily slow, but it was manageable. Having additional ways to get points by squishing opponents is fun

Space Game Where You Fling Ships Into Planets To Deliver Shipments by Ramin Amiri Suibun 2023-05-02T02:00:22Z

Nice little gravity game. I like the concept of trying to make the most of each fling by using the gravity to slingshot yourself around, though in practice it's incredibly difficult to use and I had a hard time getting even half the deliveries needed because of how tough it is to escape a planets gravity. Probably the most frustrating part was not knowing quite when I would be able to fling again since it has a hidden internal cooldown. I kept wanting to fling more often for more fun.

But still, thanks for the game! I had fun

Bullet Worm by resacaGames 2023-05-03T17:36:12Z

Pretty chill game though I felt like I was fighting with the turning a bit, like it could have been a bit smoother. I also wasn't sure where the delivery spot was for the first several minutes, so having an arrow pointing to it would be nice. The graphics are simple but effective. I like how the squares spin and feel alive

Pizza Pete's Peculiar Predicament by Space_Games 2023-05-04T00:04:47Z

Overall pretty fun arcade style game. The movement and shooting played smoothly. My least favorite part was waiting for the loading animations and then the longest 3 second cooldown of my life just in order to start the level!
