Escape should close inventory! Also gay coffee

I enjoyed this, even though I got stuck a couple of times in a room that drained oxygen but no spiders remained :( But all in all, it was a good narrative with a good level of exploration. I found the movement controls overly sensitive at first but good thing there's a setting for that.. Overall, great work :D

This game was really cool! I love that the artstyle is a mix between 2d and 3d. It really gives your game a unique identity. The way the character model changes depending on which direction you're viewing them from is awesome. The music was great too and definitely made me feel like I was in a sci-fi thriller ahah. Good job

Also I love the gay coffee :p

Wow great game, the mix of artstyles was a bit weird for me tho. Loved the narrative and especially loved the music. Great work all around.

The game reminds me of cruelty squad :D uncanny looking

Some serious binding of isaac vibes :) I liked it. I honestly have to admit I felt disoriented sometimes, but that might as well have been the post LD fatigue :) Nonetheless, I like this !

Absolutely loved "Contact Range"! The mix of 2D and 3D art styles is truly unique, giving the game a standout identity. The narrative, combined with the space exploration theme, was engaging. Using tools like Godot and Krita, the developer crafted a captivating experience. I did notice a "Dialogic Error", but overall, it's a fantastic piece of work. Kudos to QueenOfSquiggles! 🚀👾🎮

I had trouble making sense of where I was and where I could go, even after I reduced the mouse sensitivity, I was afraid to touch the mouse and mess up the camera.

I had a lot of trouble controlling the camera, combat felt a little out of control, I liked the way the attack worked, it was just a bit annoying when it would stop before hitting the enemy. I love the 3D world, it looks great!

Such an interesting art style! The cramped spaces were very claustrophobic, limited space for sure. Amazing entry!

I really like the surreal visual style here and gave it my best shot but unfortunately there were so many progression blockers I couldn't complete it.

I think a greater focus on playtesting and stability to make sure the game plays and runs well is the biggest thing. Keeping the unique ideas and visual aesthetic is paramount because I think you have a very different design voice and that's awesome.

Hoping to play another jam game in the future with less issues and less clunky combat, but hopefully with just as quirky art and keeping the style you've got going, cause it's sick.

@3empty I really appreciate hearing that about my art! I honestly considered it to be "programmer art" since that's my main area of expertise. I'll have to hone my skills into this style though if that's what everyone keeps telling me!

queenofsquiggles 2023-10-08 16:21

@tkap1 @greenpig @qaolin @javasaurus @pabloabraham @rossk @willby @3mpty I'm sorry for the delay but I'm going to try to play and rate all of your games today! I had to do a bit of research into some tools some people suggested for getting windows executables to run on my linux machine. So theoretically I should be able to play everyone's games and get ratings in (also I might have rated some of your games already but I can't really remember right now. I'll get to everyone I can!! )

Really enjoyed playing your game. As others have mentioned the style is pretty unique and quite cool and I really liked the writing as well.

I think there's an issue with the fistfighting controls in the crew quarters though, the camera shows the top down view and the movement controls have adjust properly for the fight but the fist seems to move based on where the third person camera is not the top down one.

cool game, keep up the good work

roka-josh 2023-10-10 20:57

Really cool art style and a good game overall, great job!

nozomu57 2023-10-11 08:00

This style is bizarre, and borderline bulky, but I am impressed how good it conveys the mood!

After tackling controls, 1 FPS and softlocking a couple of times in room with aliens, I git decently far in the game. Did not get the end scene, but was a pleasant time nonetheless. If you've managed to do this in 2 days would be a banger compo game; but still, super impressive for a one-person project! Good job!

The mood is great ! The weird art, the music, the environnement... Everything made me feel chills down my spine !

The art is funny and wonky, I liked it.

Gameplay wise however, it is really hard to figure out what you need to do and where you are supposed to go. For example I had a lot of troubles to understand what to do once I was in front of the sensor array controller...

The combat is also quite wonky : The fact that you can move your hit direction by moving after starting a blow felt really weird for me. maybe locking that hit direction once started would help a lot and make combat more enjoyable ? I would have also loved more feedbacks when hit for example.

Good job for the great mood in your game !!
