Hi! Sadly audio im browser does not work for me :(
Interesting concept, I love all the combinations you can do, and it makes me wonder what the worst possible or best combinations you can make. I got 3 stars on night 1 and 2.5 stars on night 2, but on closing night I wasn't able to place any musician or instrument on the stage. Was that a bug?
I think the concept is just fantastic, I really enjoyed the game ^^ The visuals are great, the attention to detail, little stories about musicians and cryptic descriptions - I really liked all of that.
I have to say though, as someone who doesn't have an ear for music and isn't very good with music, it was probably more cryptic than it would be for a more music-oriented person! I would appreciate the instruments being named (like I can recognize drums or a guitar, but for example one time there are two similar-looking key instruments, and I have zero ideas what the difference between them is :)) It shows you put a lot of love and effort in the game. Looks like you didn't have enough time for critic reviews, as they just show me lines of code, so I am excited to play again once you make an update ^^
I LOVE the premise of this! The visuals are fantastic, from the title screen to the level select and the title cards, they really evoke the feeling of going to see an orchestra. The puzzle aspect is also so fun - putting the correct composition together and hearing them play brought a smile to my face. ~~I do wish there was more audio in between the playing, like some sort of shuffling or vague audience sounds or maybe just some notes being played as an instrument is being tuned~~. Overall incredible job!
Edit: the audio is there now and sounds great!
This was really good. Visuals and Audio are both outstanding. It was fun to put together combinations that I knew would be wrong just to hear what came of them.
One thing I did notice is that at the end of a night it would tell me I got 4.5 stars and then when I looked at the songs in the menu it would say I had 5.
Overall a great job on this!
I had the same thing happen where I couldn't place anything on the stage on closing night. But it was a fun matching style game. I enjoyed the creativity in the performers and their bios. The critics were great as well. Music was also great... when I got it right lol
Hello everyone! Just wanted to address comments and let you know that the serious bugs that crashed the game are fixed so if you had any major issues please play again :D @manatee-webster interesting bug! I didn't come across that one but you never know. It does keep your best score though - was it your first time playing that track? Thanks for your feedback and for playing our game!
@vary The audio was broken and is now working. I hope you are willing to spend a minute more checking it out and agreeing that our musician is the best around!
@kanity There was a bug where the names of the isntruments werne't popping up! This one wasn't so bad but it happened because of another crash in the game. That crash is fixed so the popups should work again :D let us know if you try it again and do better :P you might also get some new songs you haven't seen before (they randomise on each "week" ;)
@lexyvil That indeed was a bug. I'm sorry about that! IT should be resolved now but your progress may be lost as we uploaded the fix. Let us know if you try again and do even better. If you get a 4-5 star song, it usually sounds great - wouldn't you agree??
I enjoyed this game a lot, the crows description is vague but that's really all!
I really like the idea! I still can't beat it on all 3 days 5 starts each but someday I'll do it :muscle:
I really liked this game. It was fun reading the performer's bios and making different combinations to see what works. Also its funny when you get everything wrong.
Nice take on the theme, it's light and funny, little bit of investigation, a bit frustrating sometimes when you know you did wrong but still have to listen to a mess :D But kudos, it's a very cool entry !
This was so cool! I wish there was a little more info sometimes, especially on the last night it seemed really hard to figure out what the artist would want but I loved the reviews and the photos, the music was awesome and the bios and characters were so funny! Such an amazing job.
To answer your earlier question, it runs just fine on Linux and Firefox! I had an absolute blast figuring out who plays what instruments and how to create a good composition. I definitely am not too experienced with music but it felt like I could hear it when the composition was too discordant! Really loved it! I only wish I could remove musicians and instruments after changing my mind!
Really nice idea! Loved the plastic way you could try to combine so many instruments, really funny. Didn't manage to get good scores, though, seems like I'm a terrible stage manager, lol! Really liked it :) Congrats on the submission! :)
Very cool idea and very polished game. It really caught me for a while trying to get 5 stars (only 4.5 at stage 1 and 2 so far). Would be cool to stop the performance in between with a button when you realize it does not work, so you can faster try the next combination.
This is a cool concept, and Im amazed at the amount of polish put into it. I love the way that you hint at the correct combinations of instruments and musicians. Key-wi is my spirit animal, I love them. Great art, great gameplay, and execeptionally well done music. Its great how you can pick out the wrong instrument so well just from listening. Great job everyone!
The game is amazing! I especially love the art and the music, and how different characters and different instruments combine to make different songs!!
Loved this! The art, writing, music, and gameplay were all really fun. Took me a while to realise you could click on the people to get bios and instruments to get names, but I had fun even when I was just guessing based on character design styles 😅
Interestingly I got a worse score on the level when I finally realised there were character bios 🤔 Really nice idea in any case, and great synthesis of all the elements from a larger jam team!
I had no idea what I was doing but I really liked the theme and general premise!!
What do you mean you can't play bagpipes in a jazz song? Outrageous!
This was a fun concept and it had a good amount of challenge due to the various skills each performer had and the range of instruments to choose from as well as needing to interpret the description of each performance. I'm interested in how you constructed the composition layers to fit together (or clash) based on the selections whilst still sounding like they were _trying_ to play together.
Great game!
I played on mobile and enjoyed that it was an option. Cool game with humorous character backgrounds.
I tried the game on my mobile. It did not work.
After the initial loading, the music started but the screen stayed black. I tried in landscape and portrait mode as well as in "computer mode".
Other Unity WebGL games are working fine with my mobile. Do you think I should simply wait longer?
@furano What device and browser were you using, if you don't mind? This is the first bug of this kind I have seen :(
@baconeta I'm on Firefox, on an somewhat old Huawei P20.
I highly suspect that Firefox is the culprit here : it doesn't always work well with WebGL, especially if SharedArrayBuffer is required. On our own game, We had a lot of issues to make it work with Firefox specifically....
No big deal, I'll try the game on my computer latter
@furano Thanks for your quick answer! I will take a look into the nitty gritty tomorrow. Watch this space and maybe you will also get a chance to try it again on mobile anyway. It also works wonderfully on computer though, if you remember to check it out there !
@baconeta As I thought, Firefox was the culprit. I tried it again on chrome (on my phone still) and it worked like a charm.
Great game! I love how the music react to our instrument choices. The gameplay itself is really easy to understand yet quite challenging to get 5 stars without some detective work.
The UI is also quite sleek, fluid and easy to understand. Good job!
That's a great entry. Congratulation!
Awesome take on the theme! I had a lot of fun trying to find the ideal combinations for each night. The characters and music all have a lot of personality and the amount of content on the game is impressive on itself. I couldn't get to the end though because of a bug where I couldn't place the instrument in a position that was directly behind another, and, after reloading the page, the game went back to the start :(
The musical ensemble aspect is truly fantastic! I never expected these combinations to create such interesting music. Although I don't quite understand the scoring mechanism, I think it sounds great!
@borabee I'm sorry the game didn't save your progress - usually it does! Maybe something weird with your browser data? 🥲
I am also looking into some other ways to make that 6 person song to be a lot nicer to select for 😅
Thanks for playing though!
I played this game on stream, it was awesome! I think the text overall was kinda the big standout here for me, it was fantastically funny and clever, and in most cases gave really natural hints toward the solutions to songs. I think the little parts where the solution's not totally derivable from the info in the text as rough edges you'd expect in a jam, overall this is really good!
This game is fun! its quite a fun game, btw the bagpipes slay.
This is quite an interesting game and the concept definitely stands out from the others. I never made it to 5 stars, only got 4.5, but thats good enough. Great work on audio here, as necessary for this type of game.
Audio, Art, and concept are fabulous!! Cant believe you guys did this in 72 hrs!!
Really liked the audio and artwork for this game. Interesting concept!
awesome concept! i wonder if the tracks are changed depending on who plays them? if so, i'm really curious as to how?
Hey @caryoscelus ! Great question! Firstly, our musician came up with some tracks, and then we asked them to make different versions of the separate instrument tracks that we could use in the game. We built a dynamic data based system that was able to pair which tracks are considered which quality of playing and then as the player makes selections we build the instrument tracks together into a single track based on their competency with the instruments. If an instrument doesn't exist in a particular track, we randomly selected a global track for that instrument that fit the chosen musicians competency level with it.
It sounds fancy but really it was just a lot of data entry and careful planning :D
I really enjoyed the process of figuring out the right instruments and players and how everything ties in together to do that. The humor and the character designs made this fun to play ^^
What a fantastic game! Audio is brilliant (it needs to be for a game like this). Loved it, excellent work!
Age: Kinda funny Fun Fact: Doesn't know the difference between a touch screen and a mouse Bio: Overall a great job on this one
- Interesting idea, cool character art. - It took me a few minutes to figure out the tutorial stage. I saw 2 spaces, I placed a musician in one and an instrument in the other. Maybe have some visual que for missing musician instrument in a "position", or have the tutorial have 1 "position" so it's impossible to have this problem. I did read the tutorial, it said 1 musician and 1 instrument, I saw 2 spots I thought it makes sence, one spot for the musician, one for the instrument.
One of the games that I enjoyed most in this jam. I liked the characters and the original music was a really nice touch. Beautiful character design and interprentation! Good luck!
Interesting music game and clever gameplay. I like the main idea - clues which I have to understand in order to set a good band. The work on the graphics and audio is amazing. Can we say that it fits with the theme? I don't know... This could be a full game with more features. You made a solid entry - unusual. Thank you. I wish you the best ++
