LD54 — Limited Space

This is a nice-looking, unique idea for the theme of limited space!

I didn't end up getting too far into the game unfortunately as I found the wall-moving mechanic a bit frustrating with how they worked alongside the hard-to-spot vanishing blocks. Having to spend a long time waiting for the walls to open again just to get back to where you died to those blocks felt a bit unfun to me. I'm sure the surprising nature of them if you aren't paying attention is part of why you added them in the first place though.

I did enjoy the graphics of this game a lot, despite how I felt about the gameplay. The small game window with the simple sprites feels fitting for the theme, and the music and audio complement the style you went with. The only part of the audio I felt was a bit out of place compared to the rest was the jump sound, feeling a bit too "clean" and light if that makes any sense.

For what I did play, things that I think could help: * As others have said, maybe making the vanishing blocks just a bit more easily seen could help it feel less unfair. * I noticed my jump input getting eaten sometimes when trying to jump right at the edge of a platform, so maybe adding a small amount of time to input jump when walking off an edge would help. * My main frustration with the game came from how the wall-moving mechanic worked so this is a bit subjective: * Making the walls move so slowly made it feel like I was spending a lot of time just following an opening wall at some points more than actively solving a puzzle or interacting with the game, at least for the parts I made it through. I understand that how the walls move is a big part of this game, so I'm not sure if speeding this process up would negatively affect it.

Amazing game. This is definitely the best one I've played so far. The difficulty felt nice and gradual, building up to the last few levels where I spent most of my time. Here's what I thought about it: * Limited Space * You definitely worked around the theme of limited space extremely well, creating a game where managing how you place things is not only a major mechanic, but actually fun to work with. * Graphics * All the graphics in this game are very well polished and fit together. Grid spaces are clearly defined and each obstacle you have to work with is easily read at a glance. * Audio * The background music is calming and fits with the relaxed puzzle nature of this game. It never became grating or annoying to hear on loop. * Gameplay * The puzzles themselves are well-made. Each one felt crafted to where the solution wasn't entirely obvious just by sight and took some working through. I don't play puzzle games of this nature, but I was able to quickly pick up what I needed to do to reach the solutions, and it felt rewarding. The option to place X's on the floor helped quite a bit on finding where I needed to place my next building.

Overall, the game is very well-made and polished. I could definitely see this being published as a mobile or web game as it is right now with the addition of more levels eventually. The only ideas for what I think could improve the experience, other than adding new ideas on top of what you already have, I'd say to have an in-game explanation/tutorial of what certain objects like the mountains and lakes do.

Give Me Money by kairuma 2023-10-03T18:15:35Z

Very cute and addictive incremental game. Some of my thoughts on parts of this are: * The Art! (Very well done and polished! I love the bounciness) * The Limited Space - I enjoy the idea of having to slowly expand your island to be able to build more money-making machines and make more use of your coin magnet. I feel as though, with only having the money printers as a building, this limitation isn't really felt all too much, however. With the pace you gain money, it would take a long while before expanding becomes too much of a problem. This would be solved by more things to place or save support for long play sessions. * The Sounds - The sounds themselves are okay and acceptable. The coin pickup sound quickly becomes grating after you begin really producing mass amounts, however. * The gameplay loop - As it's an incremental game, you did well with starting off slow and building up to automation with the printers and the magnet range. I feel as though manually picking up coins quickly becomes more of a chore than something rewarding after you gain plenty of printers, so maybe there could be some incentive for active play. This could come in the form of a coin multiplier or pickups that spawn in your space with different beneficial effects. Overall, the gameplay is there and I enjoyed it despite it all.

This is overall a very nicely made game with cute graphics that I enjoyed, with potential to build off of as well.

Setting the Stage by Baconeta 2023-10-06T19:45:10Z

I really enjoyed the process of figuring out the right instruments and players and how everything ties in together to do that. The humor and the character designs made this fun to play ^^

Burn Beetle by Pious 2023-10-06T19:26:31Z

The game took a little to load but the game itself was fun!

The movement and fire mechanics work well, feeling responsive, and burning the brambles away felt satisfying. The visual effects of the fire and the darkness are very well done, animations and everything, so I think you did well with focusing on those!

I did have trouble with getting lost in this game, not sure if I've been to places before or not, but that could just be me being bad with that in general as I'm not sure how big the map is truly and if it's possible to get completely lost. The gameplay itself was nice and you did well with the visuals and effects!

Limited [Space] by Neshtyak 2023-10-06T18:57:51Z

Very cute and well-made interpretation of Limited "Space"!

While not difficult, the levels you made for this show the idea has a lot of potential, and I found the little trolls of the spikes and moving platforms funny. I really enjoyed the art in this game especially, with the little idle animations and how well everything moved. My favorite part was the addition of the rewind visual. I'd love to see more levels and mechanics for this game.

DONTPRESSSPACE by Nikaiaa 2023-10-06T19:14:54Z

I'll_never_press_space_again. ...maybe just a lil

Really though, this game was really fun to play through and listen to the story of. The humor with the creepy voice and goofy little meta story makes this game stand out to me and will be something I'll definitely remember from this jam.

I did my best to avoid pressing space, even changing the start game key in the options, though I'm not sure if they appreciated my efforts or not ^^; Maybe I accidentally hit something.
