This game is a masterpiece. From the graphics to the sound effects and mood, everything is perfect and DONTPRESSSPACE has everything I expect from a game. The game asks you for your name and the logic behind that feature is a little glitchy but I assume that is intended.

nikaiaa 2023-10-04 13:33

Thank you so much @natrist ! Yeah we put a glitch deliberately as a joke because she doesnt want you to press space

falestress 2023-10-04 20:01

Terrifiant !

Very creative out of the box, and so stylish! Furthermore, the charismatic bell gives me chills :smile:

Very well done. So well executed. It's difficult to find a flaw in this. Although it's not the type of game I would normally play, I can definitely appreciate this. The art was perfect. This game had a clear vision of what it wanted to be and I think the dev(s) executed it. Unlike a lot of jam games that feel unfinished or under-polished or like an idea or (at best) like a small part of what could be a bigger game, this game feels like a complete idea. It feels finished. Like a complete (albeit short) experience. Top marks.

@falestress merci beaucoup pour tes retours ! On va y réfléchir si le jeu devient plus long pour une sauvegarde, sinon on pensait faire un retour au menu direct plutôt que de fermer le jeu c:

Dommage pour Clochette elle est trop chou :(

@zerbu thank_you_c:

Cool game. The intro gives me Sallad Fingers vibes. Can´t upload video link so search for sallad fingers on youtube. sfingers.png

This game was really really well done. I really can't say enough about it. Its absolutely criminal that you have so few reviews. The art and sound design pull a lot of weight, and the ways you try to trick the player into hitting space is very clever.

@henrik-ganard omg thank you so much this is the best compliment i love salad fingers

@bo-dangles thank you so much for your review ! It really means a lot

What a heck of a game. I played this on stream, I think it was the most game of the jam. The most experience. You build such an atmosphere in the like, five minutes you're playing, it was awesome. ||The thing with the (human) woman where, when you click on her, she responds, absolutely THREW me.|| Great job!

nikaiaa 2023-10-05 12:18

@nardandas Thank you so much ! I saw your stream ! c:

There's so many creative games this round of LD. Loved the immersive feel and the mechanics!!

dawnables 2023-10-06 19:14

I'll_never_press_space_again. ...maybe just a lil

Really though, this game was really fun to play through and listen to the story of. The humor with the creepy voice and goofy little meta story makes this game stand out to me and will be something I'll definitely remember from this jam.

I did my best to avoid pressing space, even changing the start game key in the options, though I'm not sure if they appreciated my efforts or not ^^; Maybe I accidentally hit something.

smart game, felt like it could become a lot more outside of LD

Bizarre but very funny and creepy. Love that this gives us the Ludum Dare lore we've been missing all this time.

It did feel a little telegraphed to me and to be honest I have seen this type of thing before but it was executed pretty well. Excellent audio-visual effects as well to sell the creepiness and clearly a lot of work went into creating the full sequence.

Great job!

yndajas 2023-10-07 23:49

Forever never seems that long until you're grown

This is art

Curious how many different ways the story can go! Great visuals and nice voice acting. Great to see subtitles in and the epilepsy warning! And brilliant take on the theme

darkwolf 2023-10-08 04:44

I'm not sure if the game crashed or I just reached the end so it closed itself, but regardless this is a really cool idea. For reference she had just explained the bit about the Ludum Dare theme and wanting to make a game. I would have liked to see one or two more things try to trick the player, but the ones you did have were very well done. Also, the glitch effects were maybe a little strong near the start of the game (I would have prefered them ramping up more over time) but they were very well done!

Okay a very serious review coming up: First of all, I love this game. The mood, the art style, it is perfect. I love the spooky effects, like the different styles of the characters that flash. It adds so much more mood and horror to it, it's incredibly well made, well done! The "don't press space" concept is very interesting, but I feel like you could explore it more, for instance, instead of just failing and forcing a restart when you press space what would happen if you keep pressing space? Clochette could get mad, maybe they would get upset? Maybe they react differently to when you actually do press space. There is so many possibilities to consider here and the idea of all the depth you could further add to this excites me greatly. This could be an excellent and very exciting narrative game with all the abstract things and further depth you could add. I look forward to any further development you might do, good luck!

buzzybee 2023-10-10 18:55

This is really cool! Game froze during the monologue where Clochette was talking about submitting the theme and I can't tell if that was intentional or not, but the rest of is a really fun idea that's presented really well :)

Fun game! I liked that you even made sure the player can avoid pressing space to start, good touch for detail! (I did call my character space however, and I got no complaints about that!)
