Loved it!

lenan 2022-04-05 01:42

Very good game and well polished. The graphics looked and the sounds fit nicely with the game.

psytron 2022-04-05 02:10

Passport please + Hades haha - very well done. A+ on theme, mood, audio (especially your VO bro)

tano 2022-04-05 02:16

I can see the time investment in this one. You guys even have voice actors. The graphic is super. The gameplay is good, though it took me a while to figure it out. In term of complisment, I am sure that I would see this one on the store some day

agrimes 2022-04-05 02:37

Nicely polished! A lot to juggle, but a lot of fun, too!

100th-coin 2022-04-05 03:12

Wow! Incredible work on the audio! The little quips and jokes being spoken on the intercom are absolutely the kind of polish I love to see in Ludum Dare games! The reasons for adding and subtracting days from their lives are hilarious, and I loved reading every one! Seriously incredible work on the humor. This is a wonderful game.

chaoseiro 2022-04-05 03:26

Superb audio design! Took me some tries to understand how to play correctly, but it is really interesting. Great job!

onedozenbagels 2022-04-05 03:29

Nice graphics, great audio, nice humor. I found it hard to mentally switch back from reading the orders to the manipulating the controls, maybe different positioning would have been easier (or maybe that was by design).

austin-sierra 2022-04-05 04:07

Everything seems very planned out, and polished. The idea of working in an office that decides when people die is innovative and funny. The voice over does a good job of explaining what to do, and you have a lot of resources to help explain the rules of the game, but despite that, I still struggled with figuring out what to do. That took a little from my enjoyment of the game but once I figured it out I had a good time with it! Good work

lychee 2022-04-05 04:21

Loved the art and sound design on this one. The game loop was fairly straightforward but the humor and presentation really made it shine! I laughed when I saw that someone died because they stubbed their toe and it was enough to kill them, haha.

luquio 2022-04-05 04:45

Incredible submission guys! Keep it up! Just great!

thealbynoryno 2022-04-05 04:57

Took a couple rounds to get the hang of it but really tight experience. Very polished visuals and sound design, and the gameplay is really smooth. Great job.

alexio-games 2022-04-05 04:59

Super polished, hard to believe that this was made in three days!

firetwoonenine 2022-04-05 05:02

I can't remember the last time I rated an LD straight 5s across the board. (May have been "Jesus Take the Wheel" back in LD43). But this just became the latest.

The absolute only thing I could possibly fault it on is that the death/scythe mechanic feels a tiny bit unintuitive. I was expecting to have to monitor the clocks myself for their death time, but I guess it's a small mercy that I didn't have to since I was already way over my head.

I seriously will be unsurprised if this wins the jam, and will be disappointed for you if it doesn't at least score top 10.

teenythanos 2022-04-05 05:26

@firetwoonenine You just made our whole day!! Thank you so much for your review and honest feedback--it means the world!

vivianmochi 2022-04-05 05:40

The mood of this game is ON POINT. Love the art (sexy reaper:flushed:) and music! The voice acting and writing was stellar. The "blah blah blah blah" on the intercom XD

In terms of actual feedback, I think it'd be really cool to hotkey everything. If the ports were bound to numpad keys, submit to spacebar, and scything by holding shift + the port's numpad, I could see myself just watching an endless stream of events and manipulating everyone's clocks in a streamlined way. Gotta improve the workplace efficiency!

Overall fantastic little game :)

EDIT: OMG I just saw the submission link! I sent one :P

crychair 2022-04-05 05:45

@nate954 Great suggestion. Seems like a pretty easy implementation for me. Will add it in the future! thanks for playing

georgii-gerasimov 2022-04-05 07:04

Good work!!! I want to play full game!

toc 2022-04-05 07:41

Looks and sounds great! Especially the voice acting really makes it stand out.

Had some trouble figuring out the mechanics, even with the nice infograph. I quit the game before I ran out of lives, as it felt like I was not working towards anything. In a full game perhaps you could break up the gameplay into work-days of 10 rounds?

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 08:41

amazing soundscape and voice acting, this got me laughing

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 05.41.00.png

tudydev 2022-04-05 09:44

Amazing, I really loved it. The sound and the theme go really well together.

zyphen 2022-04-05 09:48

Really polished, well done! The adjustments were top tier

heho 2022-04-05 12:22

Really love that you recorded voice. Reminded me a lot of "Death and Taxes" graphics and music fit the game very well

deylinia 2022-04-05 12:25

Wow! The graphics and audio were incredible! Great job, the game was fun too this is probably one of my favorites of this Ludum Dare

13x666 2022-04-05 13:38

This is so polished it's insane. I could listen to this voice acting forever! I really really wish the controls were much more keyboard-friendly, having to move stuff around with my trackpad made it next to impossible to keep up later on, but I'll give it another go with a stylus instead. This is a stellar entry, congrats!

simba 2022-04-05 14:38

Really unique and fun game. The intro had really great atmosphere and the voicework was so good. It took me a bit to understand how the game worked, but once I got the hang out of it was very enjoyable. I absolutely felt like I was a grim reaper doing menial office work!

Constructive feedback: I felt that the + and - buttons should have been switched around. It felt weird to make the number go up by hitting the button on the right (or D).

crychair 2022-04-05 14:47

@simba Thanks! Yea I considered making that change late in the day Monday, but just didnt have enough time. My roundabout reasoning for it now, is that you want them to die so minus days is the "positive"....we will go with that....

crychair 2022-04-05 14:48

@toc curious what round you got to? Did you feel like the game was too easy? It does start to ramp up fairly fast around round 8-14.

bob-verhoef 2022-04-05 15:18

Incredibly polished game! Very astonishing result for a game jam :)

cakestorm 2022-04-05 16:37

I love how the difficulty ramped up in this game, how quickly it got chaotic and I had to start hoping that I got everything right, it managed that really well! It works with the simple gameplay too, which I liked, and it was easy to get the hang of things after a bit. All the polish and love that went into the game shows too, with the death messages, voice acting, all the decor in the background, it made the game feel complete! The voiced tutorial was a good introduction to the mechanics as well, it helped clear up some confusion from the written instructions before. Overall, this was a really solid game, so good work on it!

crychair 2022-04-05 16:44

@nate954 your submission is in the game now!

baconeta 2022-04-05 16:57

This is one of the best ludum dare games I have ever played. I am blown away. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece.

nekusoul 2022-04-05 16:57

Very well polished and fun to play. Good difficulty curve as well.

emaigualmc2-art 2022-04-05 17:10

The work here is incredible, I am very surprised that they have achieved it in no time! Congratulations! The presentation of the game is impeccable, the art is great, the sounds and the voice acting are excellent, very good job!

nick-saulnier 2022-04-05 17:13

Great work! A lot of echoing others, but the degree of polish is super high. I think audio design is what I'd single out as the strongest aspect, just really well done on the voice acting, FX, etc..

Awesome for the time allotted!!!

ausstein 2022-04-05 17:23

I got 19 rounds. It got incredibly stressful towards the end!

This is one of the most polished games I have ever seen in a Ludum Dare! And this has the best audio of any LD game I have ever played! Definetly very strong overall!

crychair 2022-04-05 18:40

@nekusoul @baconeta @emaigualmc2-art @nick-saulnier @ausstein Thanks so much for playing and the kind words!

jzucc12 2022-04-05 18:43

Really neat idea! I enjoyed all of the reasons for the numbers going up and down. The jab at Morbius was quite funny.

toc 2022-04-05 20:28

@crychair I stopped around round 15 or so, and it was getting harder for sure. I just felt like I needed a break, or something to look forward to. Perhaps the plate-spinning style of game just isnt my jam :p

dindotjs 2022-04-05 20:45

I got to round 14! I really liked everything about this game. The gameplay loop was incredibly well designed, and was a perfect balance of stress and fun. It has the same kind of vibe as papers please if you've heard of that. The visuals are so polished and everything feels nice to do. The sound design is probably the best out of any game I've played, not just Ludum Dare games. The voice acting and the music combined with all of the sound effects give the game such a distinct atmosphere that makes the game into an immersive experience. You guys really nailed it on this, you should all be super proud of yourselves!! If you all ever have time you could definitely expand on this to make a full steam release :D

theheheo 2022-04-05 20:53

Really good! Really fun idea and well executed. The game felt very polished. Managed to get to round 12:)

chartle 2022-04-05 22:25

Very nice! If I had to pick a small minus its that I wish the drop area for the remote was a bit bigger (but it also might have been my mouse). Very well polished, I do wish it was a little more obvious when someone died though.

crychair 2022-04-05 22:49

@toc fair enough. i guess we could add like a pause or button to start the round. That might have been a good place to add the like "boss talking to you lines" in-between rounds.

okamit 2022-04-06 01:14

Amazing game, really nicely polished!

Fantastic graphics, gameplay and storytelling. And the sound and music! Amazing. I love everything about it and the elevator music style death march *chef's kiss*. Big congrats to the whole team!

This is a game I will come back to!

Skärmbild 2022-04-06 031435.png

crychair 2022-04-06 01:38

@okamit !!! I remember black out from last year! Will go play your game now! Thanks for the kind words!

okamit 2022-04-06 01:40

@crychair Looking forward to your thoughts!

michael-wingfield 2022-04-06 13:28

That was an awesomely polished game! Loved the commentary that happened in the background. Loved the little messages that popped up for the different people. Super intuitive and kind of a fun and crazy version of Papers Please. Thanks for the awesome submission!

unless-games 2022-04-06 15:14

Very cool and super polished, nice details on the desk and the voice acting adds so much to the mood.

The only confusing part for me was not being able to unplug the device until you reaped a dead with the scythe.

Enjoyed the social commentary with the time loss/gain logs and the overall ramp of intensity.

apphons6 2022-04-06 15:28

10/10 super polished, great art, nice writing, sick music, goes very hard, the game is very hard

kemsou 2022-04-06 16:11

Nice game, extremely polished with great voice acting, graphics and sound. The reasons to win or lose time are also funny and I had a great time plaaying the game.

Good job ! :ok_hand:

core-foliant 2022-04-06 16:59

WOW what a beautiful design! Even worked on the list of rules!

arzi 2022-04-06 18:06

This is definitely one of the more original ones! I actually tried playing it last night already, but was way too tired to make heads or tails of it. Today, I managed to grasp it better and it was a lot of fun to play, if quite hectic. I think the pace could be a bit slower so you'd have more time to pay attention to all the funny things happening to those people and changing the remote head feels of a bit unnecessary complication.

jitspoe 2022-04-07 00:39

A really solid entry! Really polished graphics and audio. Super impressive for a game jam entry. My only suggestion would be to have some feedback when you try to press A and D while the dongle is not plugged in. I wasn't aware what I was doing wrong at first.

junklab 2022-04-07 00:44

Easily my favourite jam game so far! Unique concept, amazing music, the comedy is on point, artwork suits the theme perfectly. The only thing I can suggest is the game over state - I feel like it's a little jarring, would be awesome to see some kind of animation or transition form working to being "fired". Amazing work!

amberfall92 2022-04-07 00:47

Amazingly polished with gorgeous art, excellent music, and entertaining voice-overs. Unfortunately, I too ran into the bug where I couldn't drag the dongle. Maybe it's just a browser issue. Really impressive entry!

ohsnapitzsean 2022-04-07 01:00

@amberfall92 hey thanks for the kind words! part of the game play is that when there is a dead soul on screen you have to take the scythe on the desk and reap their soul before any work continues. If you did that and you still couldn't move the dongle then it was definitely a bug and I will let our programmer know. Thanks for the feedback! :)

bluishgreenpro 2022-04-07 16:40

Bursting at the seams with personality; had a lot of fun playing this one!

initialposition 2022-04-08 19:37

I had a rollercoaster of emotions which is exactly what the devs intended. Or so I'm told. Nice atmosphere, the soundtrack is super well designed and fits the game, the gameplay is hectic as it can be but also makes sense and is always manageable.

pious 2022-04-09 04:51

Very well polished and very well done. Definitely a challenge and quite unique. I personally wasn't having fun but I wasn't bored either, I was totally engaged and I can see how this is good for people who like office sims since the theme made it interesting. Pretty funny too, but I will say, I didn't appreciate the covid references. It's too politically contentious, it was (and is) a stressful time, and I kinda want to forget about it all, and it's also insensitive to the whole situation. As a general matter, you'll be alienating some players with that and it'll drop the overall lighthearted mood you had going on.

Other than that, the skill displayed was impressive. Good job!

proxy-games 2022-04-09 06:29

From the voice acting and the high-quality art, to the amount of love given to the game page, it is clear a lot of effort went into this game, and it was worth it. The writing for the game is great, and the gameplay is unique for this game jam and insanely more satisfying than I thought it would be. Things got complicated, but they never felt like they got extremely unmanageable-there was a really difficulty curve here. Graphics and audio contribute to a strong mood, overall, and of course the concept of the game matches the theme very well. The *only* thing I was this game had was a form of tutorial, as even after reading the description and the controls, I failed almost instantly three times while I experimented to figure out exactly what I was supposed to be doing. Other than that, this was amazing. Wonderful job!

boaromayox 2022-04-09 08:13

The high-quality and polish of this game was ubiquitous! It's not just in the game proper, but in the presentation. The artwork done on the itch.io page, along with the submissions to other game jams felt like the team was showing off their pride and joy! Amazing how they could make a game this polished-looking within a given amount of time!

To the game itself, the voice acting (if the people on the team who did this jam were actual VAs, then this probably was an advantage) is smooth and world-class (to steal a phrase I've been hearing), the remarks on the statements of the humans on their actions, and the narration (how can one gain three days of their life by participating in a Ludum Dare?) are quite darkly funny. Though I'll admit, one of them I noticed was a bit distasteful, namely the vaccination reference. **Cut that out. No politics.**

The art design is high-quality and fit the game's macabre humorous tone pretty well. The whole vibe of the game reminded me a bit of the micromanagement described in *The Screwtape Letters*. The theme is also well-integrated here, with a twist: the player is literally a footsoldier of the absolute inevitable itself, so in a way, it's less the player delaying the inevitable than the NPCs they're tasked to deal with doing that, or not.

Gameplay-wise, it starts off pretty easy, and the rise in difficulty wasn't sudden. It hit the happy medium.

Now for the critiques: The controls, though easy to understand in the description, when I did play the game the first few times, I had no clue what to do. Though the narration told the player how to get started, a tutorial might have been a bit helpful. One instance where I had trouble was when someone died, and I couldn't figure out where to drag the scythe, and I couldn't pull out the dongle. I dragged the scythe to the dongle, which did nothing. After a third go, I realized I had to drag the scythe to the clock itself. Maybe you could highlight the clock when the scythe is hovering over it. Another was in the beginning, where I was pressing the control to add and take life, and nothing happened. I learned by replaying it that I had to drag the dongle to a selected clock before taking (or lengthening) lifespans.

Critiques aside, this was one of the better games I've played! Terrfic work to the team!

trexxak 2022-04-10 19:24

So much polish o: I really liked the idea of the game once I got to grips with it. Also the VO is very well done! Fantastic job all around!

charq 2022-04-11 03:45

I thought I read the instructions, but apparently I didn't (I was distracted by the high quality of the instructions poster). I still got pretty confused at the beginning of the game, but once I figured out the controls the game was fun! Maybe I should've gone full screen so the texts were bigger.

Thank you for sharing your game with me on Twitch (MsMiaChar). Please feel free to check out my feedback at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1450602258?t=00h05m11s

crychair 2022-04-11 18:23

@charq Adding the twitch link with the time stamp... NICE TOUCH. I will def be watching this soon.

svntax 2022-04-12 05:32

Fun and very well polished game! It took a bit for me to get into a good flow once I understood the controls, but after that, it was fun and hectic trying to manage the lives and read the messages.

itsboats 2022-04-20 19:36

Theres a lot of really awesome stuff going on here! I had a lot of trouble figuring it out though especially considering the simple mechanics. I read the instructions thoroughly, played a round, then read the instructions a second time and still struggled at the start of the second round. I think just putting some text on screen telling the player what to do during the first round would have been a lot more concise way to onboard the player. One of my original thoughts was that you had to do something with aligning the clock hands or something because they draw a lot of attention with how much they move. I think it could work well if they were kinda more like a timer (that has one hand) that counts down and the position of the hand matches the number on the clock just to reinforce the idea that you are adjusting their time to live.

tl;dr Overall 10/10 game, just struggled at first

I had a couple other feedbacks and comments on stream too (ignore my embarrassingly bad first playthrough xD): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1458309860?t=3h19m20s
