Loved the final score calculation. :D
Nice and quick and looks good, though I was not exactly sure why I won how I did. I also ran into the trouble with corner collision as well. Still, good job!

I really dug this! A bit confusing at first, but once I got in the groove, it was smooth sailing. The presentation was very nice and I was really glad to see descriptions of everything when they came up so I could see what was happening in a disaster. I would definitely love to see this expanded.
I think with a little bit of work, this will be a lot of fun. It's still a bit confusing from the get and I had some trouble getting started. Still, looking forward to see if you progress on this beyond LD!
Simple and nice game! I really enjoyed the graphics and it was oddly compelling to keep pushing robots off the edge. I think some sound would have definitely helped. Hope to see you in LD24!
Congrats on the entry, first off! I also could not beat the second boss and had some trouble against the first one due to the controls and the odd tracking that the ruler/boomerang does when on top of the platform (I freely admit I tried to turn this into my advantage for free hits. It did not work. ;p) The additional of basic music and sound effects would have definitely improved the entire experience (If you ever feel like you're running out of time for that, remember you can always use content generators to create those as you see fit.) Still, I think you got a good base that you can build off of and/or learn for future projects/jams. Good luck!
Random aside: Wow That is a lot of planet names in the PlanetNames.txt. :O
Definitely dig the planets, the music and where I think you guys were going with this. I had a bit of trouble dealing the the Space Highway, but it was fun to explore!
Pretty simple, but I like there this was going! Some of the odd hanging collision problems left me hanging on walls from time to times. Also, what is that world that you enter into when you hit Retry in the very beginning? :O
Always love a good space trading game. :D I believe someone else mentioned Escape Velocity and I have to concur. I did have some issues with the controls, but it could also be a compelling reason to add different types of engines and upgrades to your ship at a future date.
Anyway, I'd love to see where this goes from here. I'll try to keep my eye on this, but just in case, feel free to message me here and poke me as well to try it out!
Cute idea! I didn't notice it until the fourth or fifth level, but the water running down as a timer and hurdle worked really well. I also loved the small story segments that came after each level. Some of the sounds sounded too similar or didn't happen as often as they should have (Especially in the later levels, where one fish had the tenacity to make the same call five times in a row with the other fish silence.) but an excellent effort!
I love this! You took the theme and made a fun little challenge out of it. Gives me something to think about for my next game jam, for sure.
Like others, I could only get the sound working in Chrome. I really like how you handled the dialogue and especially handled surprise with the player. Nice!
I love the intro and how the basic platforming felt! I had the same trouble as some others with the game taking up too much vertical space (I'm on 1366x768 on this laptop, which made it a bit tricky. I'll try this on my main PC when I get back to it.) but I definitely enjoyed what you were going for.
I really dug the Alice in Wonderland feel I got from this! I had a bit of trouble with the water room, but I enjoyed throwing the shurikens at the odd angle. :O Congrats on the LD!
First off, thanks for helping to remind me I need to install Python 2 on this laptop. ;P
It was incredibly short, but it put a smile on my fac.! You mentioned you were learning Python as you were making this and this is definitely a fantastic way to learn it. Keep it up and see you next LD!
Let me first say that I really dug the watercolor look, style and feel of this game. Everything just felt really tight control wise and it helped me to explore more of the world than I probably would have normally done. I'm not sure that the snapshot effect was done to make a direct impact to me, personally. Still, excellent job!
Not going to lie; I sent a lot of bastards to Mercury just because I felt like it. It was there fault I wasn't voted Mayor of Earth, after all!
Anyway, I like the concept and really wish to see it developed further. It'd be interesting to have to deal with not only Earth Politics, but Venus/Mars/etc Politics at the same time and prevent complete and total anarchy from occurring as a result. Good luck!
I think you got a good start to do something interesting with this if you choose to. It's simple, but the controls are solid an I could easily see where this could get fun and frantic really fast. Congrats!
Oh, man. This is so incredibly cool. I'm going to take a look at the source just to see what needed to be done, because this is amazing. Also, thanks for the Chrome directions!
Nice job getting all of this together! I especially loved the music. It definitely needs some adjustments on the difficulty curve and how you can control your character (The Auto-Magic, oddly enough, I found difficult to adjust to.) but I did enjoy the level up shop when you die to help compensate for that. Good job!
Thanks for playing! :D I think I'm going to play with this idea a bit more and add new tiles, scenarios and miscellaneous things I didn't get to within the 48 hour window. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this will go.
As for the reset bug, I embarrassingly forgot to reset the boolean for the win condition upon reset. I'm keeping it how it is for the compo of course, but one can fix it pretty easy in the source if they have the initiative. I've fixed that and a couple of other silly bugs in my local copy. :D
"Mmm, XNA likeys that dress, yes! Give a little spin there and-- Oh. Um. I just crashed.... Huh. Y'know, don't tell anyone about this."
I didn't realize this about XNA 4.0, but it has a Reach profile setting that's not as intensive. When I get back tonight, I'll make a post-LD build as a separate link with that already set (Along with some other minor bugs fixed.)
And again, thanks for the comments, guys! Now that I'm rested up from the LD-fest, I'm pretty pumped about continuing this idea. :D
I'm going to try and get a Monogame variant up shortly! It's mostly completed, but I am having issues with the Rectangles not intersecting properly (Whereas it works fine in XNA, the hitboxes are being calclulating inaccurately in Monogame. Has anyone else had any issues with this?) Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have that up!
I would play more of this. I would play it all day.
Really love the graphics and the feel of some of the controls, though would have killed to be able to aim my gun somewhat instead of just straight. Still, this has serious potential!
I'm a pretty huge fan of audio content generators, so I dinked around in this quite a bit. I also really dug the ASCII feel of it too, halfways expecting to accidentally boot back out to DOS once I got closed the tab. :P I'm not sure if it fits the theme per se, but it's something I think I'll play around with for the next LD for sure!
Also, I'm going to echo a previous commenter and say a way to share songs would be fantastic.
Love the music! I agree with other people that the controls were awkward, but it looked good and sounded great. Good job!
You got through and submitted a game, so you conquered the challenge! Sounds like you learned a few things too in the process, so all the better! It's especially hard to pull through when you feel unmotivated to do anything (That's what happened midway through LD21 for me.)
Like you said, it definitely needs some work, but I enjoyed the simplistic level design.
Hey, check it out, the Ludum Game Workspace Simulator. :D (Or at least, how I felt while working on my own game. ;p)
Very odd, but I like the intentions and the graphics. I'm sure it fell under heavy time constraints, but additional objects for interaction and a bit of a puzzle element would make this very interesting. Oddly enough, my first though was how the person got onto the island, not how to get off.
My initial thought was "Man, if there was a Tiger Electronics game that played like this when I was growing up, I probably would have actually put down my game boy for a bit!"
An odd bug I noticed:
- I'm not sure how I did this, but it appears when I try to summon a warrior from the territory I capture, it tried to make a large amount of units, followed with the summoned noise repeatedly and then the game being stuck. The turn counter in the top right rapidly increased as well. Managed to make this happen twice in two loads.
Still, good job!
I wasn't sure what to think initially, but I got hooked trying to ward off the enemies while keeping myself in the bounds. With a little touch on the controls and a high score board, I could definitely see myself getting lost in this. Good job!
Definitely loved the music, graphics and feel. I had a weird bug where slimes refused to spawn once I went into the caves. Still, I'd love to see more work done on this.
This was a lot of fun! Very simple, but the level design and the introduction of new concepts into each level was well done and kept me interested. The only trouble I could really find were minor quirks: Sometimes shooting myself into an infinite loop, getting the timing right on the crate tricks later on and wishing I had a reset button other than going back to the title screen each time. Great job!
Hah, I enjoyed the post-game over screen!
I'm also going to chime in and say a background would greatly help feel like you're moving through an area (Although to get that exact effect, you may have to do something like parallax scrolling. Huzzah for feature creep!)
Otherwise, good effort. That Black Bug and I are not friends. He is not getting a Christmas card from me. :(
