My favorite so far. Good job.

I have a soft spot for dungeon crawlers and this really captures the vibe of them, with the progression system, graphical style, the dialogues when you die, etc. Boss designs are really creative. I wish I could have seen all of the bosses but I suck too hard, couldn't get past 2-2 or so. Awesome game, my favorite one I've played so far.

Thanks for participating in the jam!

I really thought this was a well put together package. Im used to mouse and keyboard so I died the first time not understanding the way to kill the enemies was using the arrow keys. But upon respawning it was clear I just failed to read the instructions.

I thought the art was dark and gloomy and fit really well together though per my previous comment I do think the instructions in the starting screen could have stood out more / had higher visibility.

The combat felt good and allowing the attack to bounce is a nice touch. I liked the boss fight and also liked how the boss model got pulled into the next level down as a smaller regular enemy.

Nice work!

Really great game, from the sound to the gameplay to the overall mood. Really digging the look and feel of it. Only minor thing is that it wasn't 100% intuitive that you have to hold the arrow keys to charge the shot, but nothing you don't figure out after a couple of seconds.

That was a lot of fun, can't believe I almost got to the end and a stupid bat deflected my shot and killed me!

Amazingly good time. Love the graphics style and the simple yet FUN gameplay. The spells ricocheting off each other was great, that led to a few really bad ass moments as well as some comedic events (--shakes fist at that bat--).

Very impressive and well done!

the most polished and complete game of ludumdare yet!

Pretty fun. My only real complaint was the sound, the 8-bit bullets + the rock music didn't pair well in my opinion. Fun game all around though. I hope to see you in LD49, cheers.

This game is amazing! I love the the mechanic with the little pixels floating at you to recover mana. I destroyed the last boss by doing a dmg build and I was full immersed in the game. The lighting and pixel animation is stellar and the sounds effects really make it feel retro cool. The charging up for the bullets makes it really easy to know where its going to shoot towards, and I feel in control over most other games like this. Also the bullet collision made it super satisfying to snipe an enemy bullet from the path its on. I never really used the dash or the shield but I do see other player being more comfortable with that style of gameplay. Really good job <3

Well I like rogues and twin stick shooters. This was neat and fun and polished, with art and music to keep me drawn in. Definitely a bit hard, but I think that's probably good for something suited for a game jam. Good mana recovery system, makes you consider just that one more element of strategy in a fight.

Great work! Feels like a complete game, not the typical jam game filled with bugs and "beauty spots" 10/10.

Nicely polished little game! The last boss wrecked me but maybe if I use a controller I'd have a better time. Well done!

Enjoyed the concept of bouncing magic battles though it got kinda repetitive (nothing that couldnt be solved with more content, bullet types and enemy patterns if there is a post jam version). The bullet cost upgrade didnt do anything for me, the cost was stuck at 10. Increasing damage seemed useless :p Good work though!

I got quite far I believe, but then ran out of mana and got killed trying to scoop some up haha. An interesting take on a dungeon crawler, I like the management of resources and how multiple different actions create it in particle form.

Any action jam game with a boss fight gets a boost immediately, really does make it stand out. Good job!

What you have here is so well done, and tightly designed. Playing this game with a controller feels like an actual game I paid 10 bucks for on Steam. 5 Stars on Fun, hands down. I think the LD entry could have benefitted from just being 3 levels instead of 5 so that you could quickly get to the end. I didn't get to see the final boss monster! That was a ton of fun to play. The way the shooting mechanic works was really unique from what I have seen and I had a lot of fun mastering that with the movement. I would love to see more like this in the future. The core gameplay loop did get a little stale, maybe adding some power ups for new abilities could be cool (different projectiles, shield effects, maybe add a slash to the dash) Just a few of my thoughts. The theme and mood felt well put together. I'd love to see narrative added to it as well.

Pretty nice! As mentioned above, the bullet cost upgrade didn't seem to do anything, which was a shame.

The idea of having to collect your mana "orbs" was an interesting one, but having said mana orbs despawn often led to penalizing low accuracy by having your mana reserves depleted. I get that you can never get "stuck" because you can absorb mana from enemy bullets, but that's a tedious process at best. Some sort of slow auto-mana-regen, or just no expiry time on mana orbs, or =something= to alleviate this would have been appreciated. Still, I made it through the whole 5 levels and it was enjoyable despite that.

Ah, another thing -- the first time I killed a boss, I happened to be in the middle of the room, so the powerups spawned on top of me, meaning I couldn't select what I got. Then the stairs also spawned on top of me, so I didn't end up collecting any of the leftover mana orbs. That was a sad run-ender =(

Pretty good job. This was very fun to play. Good point for the bounding bullets and the particle effects in the foutains. Thank you

bobafett89 2021-05-04 22:28

Good game! I like mana system and particles effects, they're feels very good! Well done!

Really fun retro dungeon crawler! Love the epic rock soundtrack and the art is equal parts charming and terror. The progression system felt rewarding and the choice between power-ups was a nice touch. I really enjoyed playing the game and I would love to see it expanded after Ludum Dare! Excellent job!
