Blazin' Fingers by Eigen 2013-09-02T17:25:00
Thank you for the comments. It's the simplest game I could come up that I could make in a few hours. Had fun :)

Some of the dialog really had me smiling. Thanks for that. I enjoyed it very much. Awesome work for 48 hours.
Such a unique concept. I like it! I completed quite a few slices and it was fun being the first in some places. Your world generation algorithm seems pretty nice. Sound effects were a little sub-par. The pickup sound was just too loud and annoying every few seconds. Other than that, awesome work!
Really nice concept. My only complaint is that people didn't die fast enough (what am I saying ... :O) once I had plenty of boats. I like the music. Graphics are obviously bare but the little guy rowing the boat animation is a nice touch. Final score was negative, what was that about? All in all - one of my favourites I've played so far.
Not unlike the first Railroad Tycoon :) I like it. I just need to take a bit more time to delve into this. The concept is promising.
Pretty rad content for 48 hours. Something about this reminds me of the Halloween Harry game.
Great concept and feels pretty solid. I'd love to experience this with the Oculus Rift. And as others have said, some sounds would help immensely. Keep at it, I see a bright future for this.
I too managed to get my rock stuck. But the atmosphere's great! I think I'm spoiled by stupid horror movies and games and was expecting a jump scare at every moment. The music only added to that. The text would've been easier to read if it weren't the full width of the screen. Great little title all in all, I like it.
If I could switch worlds with the right mouse button, that'd be sweet. Really nice concept and well exectuted.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
I've made slight changes to the rules and now all the neighbouring hexes are cycled ramping the difficulty even higher. If I get a chance I'll try to add more simpler levels.
Although I never got out of the valley (have no idea what to do with Nakazulu nor the sphere beneath me) it was quite an enjoyable experience. As others have said, the voice acting is pretty funny, adds a lot to it. Graphically it's a bit rough and even though everything's coloful, eerily eery. Good job!
Very nicely done, looks and plays very well. Although the interlace effect really started to hurt my eyes. I didn't get very far yet but I'll definitely try again. Good job!
Oh, wow. It started out really sweet and cute, I liked seeing them grow up. At some point I thought "Okay, one of them is going to be missing next round, right..." but no. The actual resolution was far more effective. Thank you for this.
Thanks! I agree, but all things considered eliminating someone with just a word isn't really that common. No flashy spellcasting or anything, just point at someone and say "you, die".
VDZ, I agree. The post compo version does have a couple of tweaks regarding spells and the overall difficulty. Anyway that's a lot of criticism you got there but any tips how to improve? I mean it's easy to just go around and point out flaws.
Pretty cool, I like it. The art-style is very cute. I wish it was a bit longer but it's an enjoyable little experience nonetheless.
If you centered the game and had spacebar or some other key restart the race after crash, I would play it a whole lot more. Pretty zen dodging in and out of lanes.
Thanks, VDZ, appreciate your feedback.
I was on the fence about including sounds at all. I couldn't record any actual bike sounds and they wouldn't have fitted with the retro aesthetic anyway. And I didn't think BFXR or other programs would've produced the right sounds. If this was an actual 1984 game, not even music would be available but it felt too barren without it.
For a post-compo version I might add sounds, but not the kind you'd expect. I would try and find some recordings of old computer floppy drives, fans and keyboard clicks and include these rather than the sounds a bike or the rider makes. It's more about simulating that experience - using an old computer that is - rather than playing the game. The game is stupid, I know.
Loving the music! Maybe the slimers should have some hit animations, some slime particles flying off as they get hit. Pretty solid otherwise.
Looks and plays pretty awesome! Very nice sound design. I would bring the spaceship closer to the bottom of the screen so there's more visibility ahead. Unless you memorise the level it's pretty darn difficult. Other than that, great overall quality. Good job.
Gotta love them 80s simulators ;) Pretty tricky and fun to play. I like the music.
