LD29 — Beneath the Surface

I am a Mole by graebor 2014-04-28T18:13:00

Not a very original concept, though still an enjoyable game. What I really missed in this game is a losing condition. Games become boring really fast by not being able to lose. In this game you just bump into enemies bigger than you, which is good because sometimes it is not entirely clear who you can eat or not, but there is not really a challenge in this game and thus the biggest part is not getting bored and reach the amazing ending.

Dungeon Trap by Thijsku 2014-04-30T18:11:00

The basis of the game was really good, but as you already said in your Ludum Dare: the goal missed a bit. The game didn't really scale. You immediately start with all resources available and the crafting system is a bit confusing at the start.
I think it would have been better to build up things. Why do I get all resources right from the start and not just stone? Why can't I upgrade my weapon? After about five minutes I found out that the best strategy was to just mine all the stone from the map, turn it into turrets and kill the boss with them, ignoring all the enemies.

All in all a very cool game though. Graphics are great; the music and sound effects work and I could see this turned into a cool game if more time was spent on actually having the game scale over time and balance things.

Wriggle Worm by gikdew 2014-04-28T18:00:00

Funny concept. Really simple though and gets boring really quickly

Paranoia by WetDesertRock 2014-04-30T18:19:00

It took me a while to understand the mechanics (I admit, I might have skipped the text a bit >.>). I didn't know what the rules are. After I figured it out,t it was actually quite easy, except the last level (which took me a while).

The graphics and the music are great though, and the story was presented in a good way as well.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

A Horse With Two Names by pjchardt 2014-09-15T15:57:00

Very interesting to consider the code of the game as part of the game. This does however limit the game a lot to a certain audience, and I had to look at the video tutorial, because I would not have solved the things otherwise.

So in short: very interesting concept, though I think it needs a lot more design to become a more solid game.

Hello, Alien! by klianc09 2014-08-27T19:57:00

I find this a very cool game. The controls could have been a bit more flexible and at some point the game felt more like "how precise can you place mirrors" than actually solving puzzles, but the game itself has a very good feel to it. The tutorials are a bit slow, but I love how the information is communication, and it adds a lot of humour to the game.

B.O.W. by alexdantas 2014-08-27T19:44:00

I think it's a very interesting concept, though it still needs a bit of work to feel right. I think there is the short working time to blame for the lack of content and polishing. The biggest comment I have on the gameplay is that the ship feels very slow to manouvre, which was somewhat frustrating to me.

Black to White by tutelagesystems 2014-09-15T16:02:00

I think a lot of similar games have been made over this Ludum Dare. i don't think that game adds a lot of special things to it. I would have loved to finish the game, but the game is very unforgiving on the spikes, so I gave up finishing it.

Midspace Madness by kmasiulis 2014-09-15T15:47:00

Interesting little game, though it is really unclear what the goal of the game is. Left/up and right/down seem to do the same thing, and at first I thought I was supposed to steer all ships clear. Only later I found out it was actually a race.

Graphics were alright; nothing special. The game felt really solid, so that's very well done, it just needs a little bit more introduction and maybe a little bit less based on luck.

Colonization by Ellian 2014-08-27T20:04:00

Wow. Such a cool interface in so little time. I just love how the game looks and feels. Sadly, I find it difficult to understand the game and the management doesn't work in such a way that you can just leave a planet running.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Last Clown Standing by garygreen 2015-05-02T20:22:00

Fun little game. It took me a while to understand the game mechanic, it could really use some in-game construction.

I think the mechanics could be refined a bit, but the basic concept is interesting and fun.

The graphics are not very refined, and there is also a bug that when you die you can still hit all the enemies and pass the level. The dying animation is also reset when you hit another hazard, even after you're already that.

Cats Don't Kill People by blackcode 2015-05-02T20:54:00

The idea is incredibly interesting and fits the theme great! I am sure with some more time, this could turn out to be pretty fun. Right now it's a bit fiddly to get the cats killing.

Close Encounters of the Word Kind by Justin Mullin 2015-05-02T20:46:00

At first I thought this was just another clone of those games, but there was more to it than I thought. Sadly English is not my native language, which made this game harder than I thought.

The only thing I disliked was that because you have to think so much, there is not much speed in the game. There is some feeling of urgentness, but it's very limited. And then, after 50 UFO's, the game is suddenly over. That felt a bit anti-climactic to me. Otherwise, great!

Dubstep Gun: The Game by WaffleWorks 2015-05-02T20:36:00

The game is easy, but it is very interesting. I have no idea how you would come up with the idea *cough* Saint's Row *cough* ;)

The first time was pretty confusing, because nothing was happening when firing the weapon. Only in the second game I found out the projectiles. The continuous charge bar decrease and the single projectiles stand a bit in contrast.

Otherwise the game was pretty cool, albeit pretty easy.

Rogue Paper Scissors by bearcabin 2015-05-02T21:08:00

Wow, impressing concept. Without explanation the dynamics of the games are already clear. Feels fun and smooth.

I Will Be Happy by danielilett 2015-05-02T21:03:00

Fun little game. The switching between weapons doesn't feel very smooth and it took me a bit of time to get used to the moving camera, but the concept is cool. The weapon crate didn't really stand out, so I would recommend making it more obvious that it is there.

The audio is funny, but gets annoying after a while, and I couldn't find a mute button.

Nerd Nightmare by Stechas 2015-05-02T21:14:00

The game is a bit hard to grasp. It also feels a bit slow. The concept feels interesring, but I am not sure if I would play it long enough to get all the possible upgrades.

Florist vs Plant by Nkoo 2015-05-02T20:31:00

Really impressive graphics! I found it difficult to actually win, but the concept is interesting.

Not Nice Knight by Nebulaic Toaster 2015-05-03T19:02:00

Fairly simple but cool game. The only thing I missed was an easy way to restart the game.

The N.I.D. Project by Somnium 2015-05-03T19:13:00

Interesting concept, and it all works very fluently. It would have been even better if you would have found a way to reduce the amount of text on the screen.

Sten the Keyboard Warrior by Peatuno 2015-05-03T19:18:00

Pretty short game, and it didn't feel really fluent. The jumping was a bit slow and I missed the feedback on the aiming.

The concept was interesting, but it needed more depth to become a really good game.

What Lurks in the Dark by MoogleSensei 2015-05-03T19:06:00

Cool game. The graphics style fit great and the concept is amazing. At the third level I had to give up though, I just couldn't find a way around the monsters, so that got a bit frustrating. Lovely game otherwise :)

LD33 — You are the Monster

They Call Us Monsters by TakeNapEveryday 2015-08-26T18:54:00

Really short, but still impressive for such a short time.

Seasons by cbear_wallis 2015-08-26T18:48:00

Fun little game. I thought the difference between the root colours was a bit unclear, but the puzzles were far from trivial, which is an amazing job in such a short time.

Saucer by CodeNMore 2015-08-27T21:29:00

Very challenging. Not an original concept, but well executed. Only thing I was missing was that the rocks respawned maybe, because it was difficult to get rid of turrets if you screwed up a single rock.

The Old One by Chris Olsen 2015-08-30T09:15:00

The graphics looked really great. There was also some pretty good audio. The big issue I had with the game though is that it felt really unresponsive with no apparent reason.

Ferris by Koba0100 2015-08-27T21:23:00

Fun little concept and it felt really well implemented. Cool music too. O would have liked a bit more of a lose condition, but this rampage was fun enough to do anyway :)
