mouse wheel up keybind didnt work for me for some reason
Really loved the artstyle and the general mood. The atmosphere is just rly fitting and well done. The gameplay is interesting, the mousewheel up keybind is imo a werid choice. Space or similar would have been easier to use probably.
But I had fun, so ye, well done!
Really good artistic aesthetic, but it's pretty hard to play!
@miej web version of unity new input system seems a bit sketchy, we didn't have time to investigate too much. Desktop version should work fine
edit - we updated the build by moving teleport to shift keybind
cool game!
The controls aren't quite intuitive to use. A short tutorial sequence would have greatly helped.
The art style and overall atmosphere are really cool and fun in the context of the Theme.
just quickly testing some games. For the short run my right hand feels a little overwhelmed with the uncommon wheel use, but it will for sure be nice in the long run. The main character looks awsome and feels great to move. Im happy to see some diffrent style with this game
Interesting mechanics but my arthritic hands can't quite get used to them, very funny ideas and well put together design!
Very interesting concept! Input system and general movement were a bit wonky (like how you fall when you're on a platform). But I can imagine the game mechanics being really fun to play given enough polish.
cool game guy
As already mentioned, I couldn't get the mouse wheel to work and the audio was a little wonky. Though, that could just be from the webGL doing something weird with the original. This was a cool concept and I wish I was better at it to see more of the levels. Nice work, this was a good entry.
I reaaally love the idea, but it's quite difficult to play and get comfortable with.
Pretty nice game ! Very fun :D
Love the sound design and the concept! I'm not sure how big the scythe hitbox is, but I think the smaller the better, as it's hard to aim atm. I think with a bit of polish you could make this play really nicely. Great work :)
The game mechanics are pretty cool! I had a hard time getting used to the controls though, the middle mouse scroll to teleport was difficult to execute quickly. I definitely appreciated the tutorial setup.
Scythe teleport mechanic is good but a little tricky to use. Drain health is good idea too, might be a little broken in my opinion. Good overall mood tho
First of all, the art is awesome! I love the aesthetics and the art is super super well done, so kudos there! The mechanics are very very cool, I love that you can throw and teleport to the scythe, and if this was polished up I would totally love to see it as a full game. There's a lot of potential in the mechanics.
I liked the mechanic, of the scythe, the art is algo very good (just the life counter that wasn't so good at indicating how much I still left), also it lacked a sound feedback for the damage on the lava, the OST was very good and sound design was ok, as it was implemented on FMOD, it could have a little variation on pitch (a randomizer would do the job).
Overall I liked very much, good work to all the team!
Scythe was great, maybe too many actions for the game, but it was still fun. Got frustrated when my scythe would randomly disappear instead of going where I was throwing it or having it hit the dead enemies. Health bar didn't really react to damage so I had no idea how much health I had left at any point without counting in my head.
It was fun. Fine tune the input selection and enemies and you've got yourself a phenomenal prototype to a fun speedrunning platformer.
@miej @Sabomball @Tillbold @kel @Don Fouts For anybody that was having issues with the MOUSE WHEEL UP keybinding, we have changed it to SHIFT. Please feel free to give it another try!
Interesting game, had some trouble with the controls.
great graphics! i really liked the scythe mechanics!! it was very fun to play. I think I'd add a bit more contrast to the health bar since it can get kind of hard to tell where you're at from a glance. Good job guys :)
really dig the mechanics and love the overall art style and animation!
the control & movement needs improvement
Cool designs and anims! The controls were a bit tough to manage but the concept of teleport combat is neat.
Interesting take, very mechanically rich, game feels a little difficult especially after the platform, but good game overall.
the controls could need some improving but the teleport scythe is a pretty cool concept :D
Nice game mechanics, it could be a bit hard to aim at enemies tho.
The mechanics worked pretty well. Difficulty was pretty high but I enjoyed it. Very detailed and pretty art. Good job!
There is so much going on mechanic wise, its really impressive! I think I just suck at this kind of games so I had a hard time with it but it felt really nice top lay! Also the art and animations are really smooth and the whole atmosphere really fits the theme! Thank you for the game!
yes yes yes draining angels energy AWESOME
I really love the character ! the gameplay is also very cool. I struggled with the manipulation at the beginning but in the end I got out of it.
I really loved the gameplay music. Perfect! Good use of the jam theme. Cool SFX and very fun gameplay. Congratulations to the team.
The game is quite fun, although controls were quite hard to master. Levels were quite empty and no that many enemies or things to do. Enjoyable game, but it definately could have had a lot more!
Nice platformer. Good work on the graphics, the game looks great, and I like the animations. Had trouble telling if I needed life at a glance, the skulls could use a little more contrast between full and empty. Took a little go get used to teleporting to the scythe instead of just jumping, but once I got the hang of it, I made good progress.
I had fun with this. I really like the setting, it goes well with the theme. The mechanics were interesting. I like that you have to decide to fight or flee using the same tool.
I think maybe some of the controls are unnecessarily complicated. It seems like left click could be used both for attack and recall for example. I like the idea of dragging enemies to you, but I feel like it might be better to combine this with the healing mechanic. I also thought enemy health was a little confusing. I didn't ever have a good sense of when they would die, and I ultimately just started avoiding them. I feel like they should have a lot less health.
I enjoyed it, though. Nice work on it.
The game felt good, though it had some weird controls, and too many of them. Mood was great. I don't usually play platformers, due to them being difficult for me (no dexterity) and this was no exception. But it looks like it would have been fun.
Visually the game is cool, but the gameplay is a bit clunky for me. The moving platforms makes the character jitter and some platforms made me stuck. Also, some parts of the level design where a bit frustrating because I didn't see where to go and I fell directly to the lava.
Despite this, the game idea is cool and I think it has potential. Using the scythe as a weapon and as a movement mechanic is a very clever idea.
I liked the movement! I got better by the end and finished the game. Only feedback is maybe some more visual and audio feedback about when the the enemies will strike so you can dodge better. fun entry!
Super ultra mega hyper blaster hard game! LOVED IT!
Get Down Mr. Lucifer is a fun and a HELL of a hard game (lol). Has solid mechanics, LOTS of different mechanics that merge pretty well.
I've loved the art work and the audio work. Both the mood from the graphics, the more atmospherical soundtrack paired with great sound effects really sets the necessary tension for the game.
This game accomplishes many things in so little time for the Ludum Dare. Congratulations for the whole team for creating this beauty!
Had a blast of fun while playing it -- even though I couldn't pass through the second level, hahaha. You should restart in the same level... going through everything makes it ultra hard!
Anyways, great game! Congrats!!
Best regards, Caio Varalta
Such a cool game. I must admit it took me a while to get used to the mechanics, but the difficulty level was reasonable for me to get used to it. Love most of the graphics, particularly Dunkann. The cherubs look too contrasty with the rest of the design, but I guess heaven is a whole other world ;).
Cool idea. But teleport mechanic is little annoying and down temp of game. Sometimes I want just jump to platform.
Congratulations on your participation and managed to deliver a project within the established deadline, you can be sure that it is already in front of many, the idea seems good, but ended up sinning in something that is being very common nowadays in platform games, wanting the character do everything, use mouse to shoot, teleport, climb, use a lot of keyboard buttons, etc., usually in a Jam less well done and better than a lot of things, that you will have to fix in the future, the player it was failing in basic principles of the mechanics of the game, ex: it is on platforms, I for example am left-handed, and when I saw that the arrow keys on the keyboard were also working I was happy, but when I learned that the jump was done with space it became impossible to use them, I used the commands w, a, s, the combination of so many functions caused confusion, I would like to give you a humble suggestion when we have many functions separated by subgroups, in some games they are called powers, and when the selected power is activated the others do not work so you use few keys and improves the learning of whoever is going to play, a big hug to everyone, and I await your evaluations regarding my game.
cool game, nice soundtrack!
Really nice game! Myabe you need to polish some mechanics p.e. the elevator and also you need maybe to implement some checkpoint
Perhaps a little too ambitious for a jam game, but certainly a functional prototype if you dedicate the time to building out the rest of the game. I felt like the 3D pre-rendered art wasn't cohesive with the rest of the environment, making it stand out in an odd way. I think it works a bit better in Donkey Kong Country because the backgrounds are also constructed out of pre-rendered 3D art. And the health indicators really need to be more distinct to indicate when you do / don't have health.
I like the idea, but there's lacking a lot of things to make it more fun!I'll wait for latests releases <3
I love the graphics, tho it was a bit hard to really understand what was I looking at at some points. The sound effects and music could use some improvement. I couldn't get a hang of the healing mechanic, but the overall idea of teleporting to your scythe to move around is really interesting. Good job.
very nice thinking. a bit hard to play on touchpad but good job
Graphics are cool and music too, but maybe a bit repetitive. Controls are ok, but sometimes I was not sure if I was doing damage until I see the angel die, so maybe add some more special effects. I wasn't able to leech life neither, maybe I was too far, or I had to hold longer, so I guess it missed a visual feedback or a message on screen to tell me what was wrong. Overall game was fun, so nice work to you :)
The mechanics were really nice. I particularly liked the sucking of life juice from enemies. I had a lot of fun playing this. Well done! Thanks for sharing!
Nice thought ; it is good game  while there are few tips from me jump system is hard to control; hit effect is small ,All I can see is a tiny blood ; teleport system is nice ; but too many place cant hold the weapon and bit back makes me feel want to crush the board
Dunkannanalisititus! Sorry, dunno how, but I had this raging battle cry when starting your game. Maybe it's a latin ritual mantra or something... Very interesting mechanics, man. Though hard to master. And the sprites (game overall) seems too tiny to an eye. Cool sfx, by the way. But the wheel... oh, man, the wheel... I hope you'd polish it at least to be a little easier. Still, did enjoy.
Dark and fun game. The playability is good, although I got a bit confused with the keyboard scheme. I loved the music, spooky and beautiful. Good job!
I read your post in your blog and I must say, I agree with everything you said. It's a very ambitious game, and its mechanics all gel well together... however, at its current state it's just way too unpolished and there are way too many mechanics thrown at the player at once for me to give a great score in good conscience.
In any case, if you ever decide to continue with this game, I'll support all the way. There's a lot of potential here, and with your blog post you demonstrated a lot of self-awareness and design knowledge. Good luck next jam!
