LD23 — Tiny World

The Tourist by FunkyDelPueblo 2012-04-26T02:43:00

I was about to turn in my 5th item when I suddenly died. Started a new game to see that indeed there was a countdown timer. Your description really adds a lot to the meaning of the game. I think it might be more fulfilling if it was perhaps easier to find items but you could provide less time to play. Very interesting concept.

Flight of the Ladybug by robcozzens 2012-04-25T04:14:00

A nice crisp remake of the classic worm/helicopter game everyone loves! Would have been nice to see a little something added to the gameplay like others have said, but the controls are perfect and the graphics are charming.

Light the Lighthouse by GranaDa 2012-04-26T01:55:00

Like everyone has said-- superb graphics and music. It was reallly tough even with the floating at the beginning. I tried probably 20 times and eventually got near the bottom of the screen. I'd love to try it again perhaps with lower gravity or maybe a greater light radius (or both). But even still an awesome entry!

Run, Unicorn, Run! by fprawn 2012-04-26T01:31:00

Aw man I wish I could try this out, the screenshot alone looks very promising :)

Ra Ra by YMM 2012-04-25T03:13:00

Genius! I'll have to remember to give it a real try with a friend!

Ra Ra by YMM 2012-04-25T03:26:00

Gotta say too that this is the first game for which I just can't pick a single category to dock off any stars...

Redbeard the Borrower by jrasmussen24 2012-04-25T06:24:00

Really fun and creative. Great use of the theme. This game really stood out!
Lots of good suggestions for the camera already, but I think for the stealth element to work you really need to be able to free look around easily. I see the challenge of making the controls work for the usable objects though.

gravity by Rémi 2012-05-03T23:57:00

Hah this is awesome! By time I realized the cubes also weigh down your world (didn't read the description) it was ALMOST too late! Perfect. The generative music was very good too. Great use of physics.

Lililput by Incredible Ape 2012-04-25T03:19:00

Great idea! Excellent polish. I did have distinguishing the letters U/V/Y occasionally due to the font, but I still enjoyed the game.

To What a Mountain? by cageinabird 2012-05-03T18:51:00

By far the most LOL-inducing ludum dare game. Very well done. Bahahaha his haaands!!!

Ant Command by Aaron San Filippo 2012-04-26T01:44:00

Nice job. I love the perspective and lighting you chose for the scene. I too wasn't very sure why my ants died when the did, but that first playthrough was great even just for the atmosphere.

Stade 2 (Mr.Oizo) by 30dogs 2012-04-24T00:13:00

Thanks guys! I really want to finish it up. The song gets really interesting and I've sketched out some more environments and additional player interactions.

Stade 2 (Mr.Oizo) by 30dogs 2012-04-27T00:29:00

Wow everyone thanks for playing and leaving such great comments. I was already hoping to keep expanding it, and even more so now with all the positive feedback. Looks like I'll be making it a lot easier :) But for those of you who found it too hard, don't worry you didn't miss much. I only completed about 20 seconds of content.

Fooling Yourself in Moderation by ronsho 2012-05-04T00:11:00

A little bit confusing at first, and then a bit too easy. I think with some more constraints on the player it could be really fun. I liked the color palette and the ambiance. The blocks looked really cool too. The fuzzy black edges sort of give an illusion of refractive glass blocks. Keep working on it!

Haxe Planets by jfroco 2012-04-25T04:09:00

Simple concept, I understood immediately what was going on. However it was pretty difficult for a few reasons you probably already know of. I think right off the bat a huge improvement would be if you could control the height of your jump slightly with your click duration. Good stuff though, the screen-wrapping was a good choice!

Dont Touch the Button by amidos2006 2012-05-14T00:25:00

Brutally fast but luckily that's my kind of game! A shorter delay before starting a new game would make it more enjoyable. Great job.

MakHappy by JosephGribbin 2012-05-03T18:41:00

Awesome writing! I loved all the great one-liners. Once I got into it I really enjoyed it. The clues were not too obvious and not too difficult.

The only thing I didn't like was the controls scheme. When 'W' didn't make me jump, naturally I tried Space, which takes you to the world selection. This was sort of confusing. Also pick-up/drop could be the same button.

Overall, great game--fun to play.

Cube World by FireSlash 2012-04-25T00:02:00

Thanks for the kind words about my game, FireFlash!

Obviously yours is much more complete than mine and I loved it. It was a very different experience from AYIM because your game mostly focuses on controlling the secondary objects. Made for some pretty challenging stages. Nice job all of you!

Cube World by FireSlash 2012-04-25T03:42:00

*FireSlash :)

Breathe by mcc 2012-04-25T05:19:00

Woww way cool. I definitely could have spent more time playing this. I'd love to learn how to program something like this--thanks for posting the software.

Lodestar by runsintowalls 2012-04-26T02:25:00

Captivated me for several tries, but I couldn't grasp the rhythm aspect. I got to the third track, but I'm not sure how the 'groove' was tied to the gameplay. Also, the only way I could figure out how to restart after falling was to refresh the page, not sure if that was intended. Cool game.

Untitled, So Far by angrygeometry 2012-05-14T00:39:00

Wow I loved this. I got to the house with the ghosts, but I want to do some more reviews so I'll have to finish the rest later. Very immersive and intriguing. The mechanic of the 'cognitive static' was way cool. Awesome job.

Destroy the Alien Planet by Tokken18 2012-04-26T01:30:00

Short but sweet. I wish there were some baddies to shoot! The environment is good and I think the core looked really cool. I didn't like that you cling to the walls when trying to jump up a ledge (unless I missed something), but hey I know that Unity platformers are way harder to make than one might think.

All That Are Lost Will Be Found by R3ason 2012-04-26T15:49:00

The sound and lighting changes you made in the post-compo build were really good. Even without those the mood was still awesomely creepy and scary. Pretty difficult but I made it to the end and felt sweet relief. Maybe add just a tiny bit of light on the walls when you are wall-climbing like you do with the floor.
Great entry! When all of the red eyes appear that's just awesome.

Alienbomb Defender by steffen1997 2012-04-25T00:08:00

I like the idea. You should keep trying some more level designs and try to make it more challenging. Also, I noticed it is possible to crash all of your friendly ships on the planet and still win.

Zephyr by cadin 2012-05-14T00:49:00

Very fun and, I think, appropriately challenging. Awesome audio and atmosphere.

Stranded by The Evil Cult 2012-04-26T02:13:00

^Oh I broke alll of the pots. Even as I was doing it I just knew it was pointless as the game gives no promises of rewards. And yet I left no pot intact.
This game was awesome! Felt like a Zelda meets Commander Keen. Best 48-hr adventure game I've played. I have too many compliments so I'll just leave it at KUDOS!

LD28 — You Only Get One

Blue Harpoon by FrederickK 2013-12-19T06:34:00

We had the same idea :)
Very nice job, the controls were very smooth and I like that you can block the enemy projectiles with your harpoon. Good audio and eerie mood as well.

One problem arises however when one of the big guys spawns on top of your dropped harpoon, making it impossible to retrieve it.

Y.O.G.O HARPOON by 30dogs 2013-12-17T02:37:00

Toggling Fullscreen should prevent the mouse from escaping. Unless you're on dual displays maybe :/

Y.O.G.O HARPOON by 30dogs 2013-12-17T17:42:00

@windwalkerranger: You have to re-use the same harpoon! There should be a small white arrow pointing to where it landed.

Nobag by Taldius 2013-12-18T21:30:00

Great art. The gameplay was fun too, although I could not find a use for the club. The black pits could use a graphic to show that they are deadly--it was not obvious to me at first sight.

1 by ComaToes 2013-12-17T21:43:00

I one! I one!

If you get an overall score of 1 star I would consider that a beautiful, ironic success.

Berathen Jam by Venks 2013-12-18T19:02:00

Fun and challenging! You did a good job balancing the pace and leaving room for the player to improve their skills on multiple tries.

Out by eli 2013-12-19T02:07:00

I love it. At the end I felt like young Simba in a stampede... of cats.

You only get ONE x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO x TWO

When Arthur found love by Kayelgee 2013-12-19T03:17:00

It was short but you did an amazing job on so many aspects. It's rare to hear some really great narration. The voice and style reminded me a lot of Thomas Was Alone. The whole thing was very charming and well done.

Console Wars 3D by wezrule 2013-12-17T21:29:00

Combining the 3 different minigames was a cool idea, and the whole premise is very funny. I was a little confused on the 3rd stage, but it was satisfying once I found the right spot ;)

Pillage Rush by Jgpicatoste 2014-01-02T20:30:00

Now THIS is an innovation in gameplay. Very cool idea and creative take on the theme. The art and overall presentation was really well done too. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine when a game is done in pixel art and many of the assets are different widely varying resolutions, but it's still a terrific job. I appreciated the intro scene.

Shadow Night by ParaPup 2013-12-18T16:38:00

Really impressed by the mood you created here with such assets and Unity experience. The ghosty thing scared me as well as some lightning crashes. I hope to see more at the next LD!

Spacedentist saves the day by StMatn 2013-12-17T18:29:00

Simple yet really fun! The terrain generation and destruction was very ambitious, nice job. I wanted to pause the game for a second and instinctively hit Esc which killed the app and I lost my progress.

Go Home by Blooperly 2013-12-17T07:01:00

Really lovely style and nice ambiance. An idea definitely worth expanding.

Yogourt by ghostinthesoft 2013-12-18T21:04:00

Funny :)
The walk cycle after he lets go of the hostage was well animated.

The One Ship by tiffi 2013-12-17T06:34:00

Nice lighting and sfx. Shooting up and down was awkward.
I liked how the light guided you to your objective, but it would have been nice to see the theme tied more into the mechanics.

HARPOONS on the MOON by Travis Irby 2013-12-17T18:10:00

It will probably be hard to find someone to play against, but it looks like it could be fun.
The harpoon trail looks nice. It took me a bit to figure out the movement controls. Turns out it's just Up/Down/Left/Right movement, but I'm not sure why you have to use [Space] instead of [W] to move up.

YOGO YOLO ARENA by acronaut 2013-12-17T20:29:00

Very nice aesthetic. I found it awkward that your character always faces to the right. Pretty buggy, but the AI is very effective at chasing you down. I never got more than 2 orange cubes to spawn. I'd get the second one, and then no more cubes until eventually time runs out. Looks great though, and I had fun running and flying around the cool scene. (I played alpha2)

Starbeard: The Curse of the Space Whales by Those 30 Ninjas 2013-12-17T06:27:00

We had very similar ideas! You guys executed it extremely well. Pretty much everything is awesome. The jagged edges of the map to make the bounces more unpredictable is brilliant.

Airlock One by McFunkypants 2013-12-19T02:31:00

Woahhh cool concept! Would be nice to see some more constraints or objectives to make it more interesting or challenging. The combo system seems a little buggy, but I had fun building this monstrosity: http://i.imgur.com/S3N2MCR.jpg

UniSwarm by ChaseC 2013-12-18T19:10:00

Plays a lot like Auralux, but with a much fast pace, which I like. Check out that game if you haven't.

Creator Story Saga Tycoon by Bruno Massa 2013-12-19T06:50:00

I don't really get the connection to the theme, but wow, this is beautiful. The music rounds it out so nicely and the whole thing is just lovely and relaxing and...addicting! Great work, you really know how to make an inviting game.

Medieval Fantasy Island by aayars 2013-12-18T17:44:00

Well you certainly accomplished your goal regarding the graphics. I work in Unity as well and can really appreciate the effort squeezed into the 72 hours. There is more to be desired of course from the gameplay. It reminded me a lot of one first games for the original xbox called Nightcaster (had to look it up). Basically the exact same mechanic as your game.

Take note that honestcritic didn't submit a game, so it's no surprise that he offers 100% negative feedback.

The Visible Hand by Reverend Speed 2013-12-17T06:18:00

Cool idea. Unfortunately it was a bit too easy to really notice that the clone became more dangerous. It looked like he exploded a few times without me shooting and I'm not sure why.

Nice use of lighting. You made a really cool scene with very minimal assets.

Monkey Rally by antila 2013-12-17T21:39:00

Looks and plays great. I'm really impressed by how much difficulty you managed to pack into the puzzles.

Breathe by ryanmurakami 2013-12-17T20:46:00

Took me a few tries, but I'm glad I got to the good ending. The story was interesting and I am left wanting to know more about MegaCorp and the experiment, and what became of the protagonist's wife. Nice work!

Unibrow by ViliX64 2013-12-24T19:38:00

Super job. You obviously put a ton of passion and time into this submission. My only criticism is that I wish there was more gameplay involving the perspective shift. It felt like by the end of the game (which was enjoyable to play to) you had introduced almost too many features that they detracted from the coolest feature.

Afterwife by Bribz 2013-12-17T21:12:00

Music and graphics were great and went well together.

The platforming mechanics were however very frustrating. Very steep learning curve on the gliding which I think most people would not be able to pick up very well. If I'm even understanding how it works, it behaves like a jump which can only be triggered in midair. Works well for falling and steering, but jumping gaps was very difficult and I found myself spamming Space and Up keys because that seemed the best way to ensure that the glide up would trigger.

After I picked up the ghost (which looked very cool btw) and went through the 2nd door, I appeared in the 3rd scene with no ghost, and a seemingly empty scene. I couldn't figure out how to progress from there, as all I could do was fall into emptiness.

A Rose in the Rain by Brian Mayberry 2013-12-17T21:20:00

Very poignant. And pretty :)

I'll be honest, I don't get the connection of the rain to a "health" bar. But I found it very enjoyable to stand there and watch and listen to the raindrops tap on the umbrella.

One way out by lennaert 2013-12-19T03:10:00

While I respect that you are serious about the one life idea, it unfortunately means that I didn't get to experience very much of the game. I died on the boulder apparently like many others. I did float around most of the cave and I must say the art is really good. Sorry you guys had technical difficulties.

One Minuite to Live! by Warzone 2013-12-18T21:13:00

Crashed for me after killing a few zomibes. I have a high end computer so I don't think it was lack of power.

Could use a bullet graphic or at least a line drawn when shooting for better feedback. The ambient sound was a nice touch.

The defenses are very tedious to place because the mouse is always accelerating the camera while the mouse button is held down. Maybe instead of clicking to drag touching the edges of the screen to scroll could be more fluid.

The TORPEDO by windwalkerranger 2013-12-17T20:55:00

The hexagonal effect of the water really stood out in a good way. Very pretty.

The torpedo settings really need a button to remove a command. It's a really fun idea, but as a player I felt very limited to trial and error because there was no visual indication of how far a knot was on screen (unless I missed something). Maybe Direction+Distance would be easier than setting Direction+Speed+Time.

Good job though, everything seemed to work as it was intended.

Lumen by Nelien 2014-01-02T20:21:00

Cool concept and a very good take on the theme. The audio and graphics made are very polished and came together well to create an excellent mood. My main complaint is that it was perhaps a little too difficult to distinguish which props were deadly vs. harmless.

Hammer Control by pkenney 2013-12-19T03:24:00

Really fun and the graphics are slick. It's a lot like my game, except... well-designed :)

Great work.

You Only Get One Derpina by tigerrenko 2013-12-17T18:36:00

Fun little game. The "decoy" balls definitely made it more challenging (still a little too easy unfortunately). I thought I was being super clever by nudging derpina into a corner to more easily protect her...but if you let a ball slip past in that scenario it will ricochet and hit her several times! Might be more interesting if derpina had some random movement and you had to keep up with her.

Triangle Shooter Gather Level FTW XX ! by wobbleboxx 2013-12-17T18:02:00

Cool Peggle adaptation. I like the idea of triangles instead of circles. The large degree of flexibility in setting up your shot is nice, but since the triangles are spinning it felt pretty pointless to deliberate over the shot, so instead I mostly left it up to pure chance.

the only one left by ACE 2013-12-18T20:42:00

Awesome atmosphere. Good use of the 3D sounds. I'm sure you learned a lot about Unity in the process. If you make another first-person Unity game, I recommend using Screen.showCursor=false and Scree.hideCursor=true once you go to play mode from the menu. Nice work.

You Only Get Juan by doitle 2013-12-18T20:31:00

Hilarious. Too bad we don't get to see the finished product. I find myself having trouble giving you a low score on anything besides Fun.

Happiness by Fenmar 2013-12-18T16:29:00

Spectacularly creepy mood. You did a really interesting job of introducing new mechanics on the fly, without having to interrupt the gameplay or explain with text. Very cool experience.

APOKEALYPSE by OnionBlaze 2013-12-18T16:48:00

Creative and fun. Had a Katamari feel to it.

Going Around by daredevildave 2013-12-18T16:16:00

Wow, great game. The music was very nice, and the string of objects and interactions was very well planned and written. Lovely graphics, too!

LD33 — You are the Monster

Brog The Builder by mungoman1 2015-08-26T19:00:00

Really fun. I played quite some time but enemies kept getting stuck in the walls, even on the first wave. It was a little confusing to figure out where the enemies were going to come from, especially with the large empty space in the wrong direction.

Great style and gameplay overall.

Quarantine by BoskoSokolov 2015-08-27T04:10:00

Surprisingly fun for such simple gameplay. The music combined with the rabble of fleeing people is hilarious.

To Buy a House by slarrimer 2015-08-26T19:43:00

Simple and fun. Love the background art.

Lair of the Scare by RockhopperGames 2015-08-26T18:33:00

Clever idea. Took me a few tried to get it but it was fun.

I wish there was a little more difference between the types of heroes...thought you were trolling us for second there. The overall look and story was really great though.

Slavery Simulator 2015 by Sébastien Bernery 2015-08-26T19:38:00

Very nicely executed and balanced and great take on the theme. The only problem I had is that there is no max quantity shown for tobacco and sugar, so I ended up way oversupplying and having hundreds of both deleted before I could get enough boats to keep up.

Eat Humans by BoyWithStick 2015-08-26T17:22:00

The music fit the humorous mood nicely.

It was pretty difficult to avoid the grey guys especially since they can zip around the tables pretty easily. I think the aiming in general could be a little more forgiving.

Neat idea!

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum by Justin Stahlman by stahlmanDesign 2015-08-27T17:26:00

Really hard but fun. Awesome concept, and I liked the graphics. Those Jacks are tough to stomp, and my damn golden goose waltzed into one of the house all by itself, haha. Nice job.

Monster Doodle Battle! by superjai 2015-08-26T19:51:00

Super creative idea, and great art. I had fun getting ruined by the AI. Would probably be a lot more fun vs a friend.

Creep by Koneke 2015-08-26T20:04:00

Took a while to understand how the wall grab works, but pretty fun once you got it. Cool atmosphere.

Dinner In The Dark by DinnerInTheDark 2015-08-27T04:18:00

Damn, really nice work guys. Great atmosphere, audio, concept. This is the first one I've played where I really 'felt' like the monster. Kudos.

Greetings, Human by boardtobits 2015-08-27T15:19:00

Really cool take on the theme, very unique, nice compo entry. Not a great amount of depth to the gameplay but I can see where it could go with a little more time. Imagining the weird greetings/farewells was hilarious.
