Very fun game and challenging! The audio fit really well. I laughed a bunch at all my stupid deaths. I liked how there was many was to obtain the orbs in each level. Very well done! :D

Funny synopsis of the story behind the character. I jumped headfirst into the dungeon and didn't read the controls til after I played; kinda like the character! I did that intentionally though, just to see how the game felt without knowing anything. I got the hang of the mechanic and indirectly damaging the opponents after realizing what was going on with the teleport bolts. Very nice take on the theme. Fun game!
Really nice idea and fun gameplay. The music really fit the game well. It was a nice touch to add in the tutorial. Overall, the game felt complete. I only had one issue when I was playing; when circling enemies and firing PALBOT I ended up losing control of my character, causing her to run down continuously until I hit the spacebar. Tried to reproduce a second time, but did not happen.
It would be great to see all the features mentioned on the website included and a totally complete game to play in the future. Hope to see continued work on this game! :D
Difficult game, but a lot of fun. I kept on wrecking my car and restarting constantly. Though, with the quick iterative plays it alleviated any frustration I was having. Especially once I found the boosts throughout the map. Very cool unconventional weapon!
That was a lot of fun! I really like the theme. It took me a two rooms to get use to the controls, but by the third room I had it down. The graphics were really good and the visual effects added a lot to the experience. Use of a flash light as an unconventional weapon was way cool. That made me remember playing flashlight tag with the rest of the kids on the street I grew up on. Excellent entry! Saving this one to play some more later. :D
Great puzzle game. I like the concept and the narrative throughout the game. It kept me entertained and wanted me to play further. One of my favorites so far. Excellent job!
When I downloaded the windows version, I only got a fast moving character and nothing else. Not sure what was going on there, but I switch to the WebGL version and everything was great.
I like the idea of only temporarily stalling your enemies and how that works with avoidance and scoring points. Once you run out of *goo*, it was challenging avoiding all the enemies to get to a geyser. I got 255 points. It was fun to play! Nice job!
Thanks HotBoxGames & DiegoEscalante for playing!
I had a ton of ideas, but yea...not enough time. Too much time spent on learning animation. I am happy with what I was able to accomplish and definitely happy with what I learned from the experience. The game is part of a larger idea I have involving the character in this game, so I will be taking this game up as a main project right now. It was a great time and can't wait till Ludum Dare #33! Thanks again! :D
Thanks ProjectX593 & OnlySlightly!
I opted out of the music, because it was from www.nosoapradio.com
It would be awesome to do some music of my own, but electronic music creation is something else I need to learn. I downloaded LMMS, but haven't had the time to get into the program.
Thanks mike.cullingham for trying out my game!
I had a good time with the animations; wish I would have gotten further with the gameplay, but time was against me. :O
Thanks TheMeorch!
I'll be working on the game more, soon.
Took me a few rounds to get the hang of it, but after I did pretty well playing the game. I could see this game working pretty well with touch controls. The interface had a bit too much negative space and could have been tightened up. I could see this on a mobile device with some sounds added. Neat idea!
The artwork is really cool. It was unclear of what to do at some points, but I managed. I got frustrated and kept hitting jump at one point, then I noticed I could climb up ledges. That was a rewarding discovery of mechanics. Would have like to hear some music or sounds of war in the distance to set the mood a bit more. I did really like the narrative at the points of the game. After the "She ran away part", I found myself trying to jump over a landmine and kept dying. On my first death, I kept hitting the up key and my character wiggled around. That was pretty funny.
I wish I could have got this game to work, because I think it would have been very fun to play. I tried chrome and firefox, but no dice. Darn it. I did get to move the ghost character around on my Samsung phone, but everything was black. The computer screen was just sitting at the enter your partners code screen.
Death to the Bunnies! LOL. Those carrot eating jerks! Quick, funny game.
The graphic style was really cool. Making the buildings explode was pretty entertaining. I didn't quite understand the scoring, was it the numbers popping up from the buildings? Seeing the normal pointer cursor floating above the game was taking me away from where it was on the game board, however that might be an issue on my computer. I had a great time playing the game!
Great game! Really liked the intro tying in how to play the game. Nice job!
Makes me want to go out and start chopping down trees! That is until I start coughing and wheezing on the second swing, so I'll just stick to Super Chop. Fun art style and the faces on the trees kill me. Hilarious. I liked how the chopping gauge markers bounced back and forth. Fun game!
Cool idea! I remember doing these sorts of puzzles in activity books and reminds me a bit of Clue. Would love to see a version where the puzzle gets bigger with more variables!
At first I wasn't sure how to start the game, so I just started hitting everything on my keyboard. Boom, spacebar. Anyway, I found the visual and audio elements of the game working well together. Regarding a human baby as a little monster was a funny notion. Plus, he breaks anything and everything in the house. Nice take on the theme! Fun game!
Cool and Addicting entry. Hope to see this on the Google Play store. :)
Really love the concept. Building a language to use as a mechanic was so cool. The graphics for the monsters are great. Nice work!
Really entertaining. Definitely how I was during the last 10 minutes before submission hour. Dashing back and forth was very effective in staying alive. Loved the graphics, animation and camera effects. Cool Game!
Neat use of audio and fun to watch your character grow. Very colorful graphics and playful theme. A really enjoyable entry. Would like to see this developed into a larger game.
Fun little game! I really liked the artwork and the character movement.
Absolutely loved the graphics and feel of the serpent's movement. I had a lot of fun playing this game!
I got 1371 for distance and 78km for speed. I had fun playing RTH and would work very well as a mobile title. Nice work!
...wow. This game is amazing. If I don't see at least a Steam release of this game I'll be amazed and angry. This would be such a killer 4 player game to include at a gaming party. So much you could include and expand upon with this game. Excellent work. Bravo.
HAHAHA. So funny. The crotch thrust kills me. The artwork is so good. Awesome entry.
Interesting idea. I would have like a more active way of punishing the sinners, but I can see this type of game play getting really hectic with the passive elements the player has to manage. Funny dialog!
I got 6700 points. Evil tree is evil! Great entry and loads of fun to play! Really enjoyed the artwork and bouncing to the music, while playing.
Played this excellent game for a while. Pretty tough, but fun. One of the best from this LDJAM IMO. Would like to hear some music over the ambient drone. Would be nice to see this developed further!
Awesome game. One of my favorites this LD. The quick restart points after death were perfect. The story and the story telling throughout play kept me entertained. The only issue I had was my thumb unconsciously hitting the space bar for jump. I would have loved to play this with a controller, but the keyboard worked very well.
Love the scanned cutout artwork. I was almost going to do the same with my game. The cursor was a black box for me, but did not hinder my ability to play. Just a slightly ugly blemish in the graphic style. Fun little game. Would like to see more depth to the game over time, somehow.
Very cool idea and I really like the graphics. At first I didn't quite get what was going on. But after throwing a spirit at one of the skellies, I understood. Then I started coming up with different strategies to killing them and hording their souls. Building spirit walls/barriers and harvesting the souls after they build up enough around the tombstones. Calling them out of the graves and leading them into a collision of doom. Got 99. Really cool game. Once you have a solid strategy going, you got this one. Thanks for making this game. One of my favorites this LDJAM!
I can't stop listening to the audio! LOL. Seriously, I was laughing my arse off. Those sound effects were spot on. A very original and solid game entry. The artwork and style is fantastic and humorous. It just reminded me of being a little kid and building up a lego city only to destroy it with my action figures. It's always very cool when a game can evoke something from your childhood like that. I think the rhythmic tapping of asd to move work well. It would have been nice to see a custom cursor maybe something like a red laser pointer with a halo glow around the bright center. Nice work!
The speed at which your character moves made for twitchy movements, which might be intentional to give the player a feel for how the character would really move about in its environment. The graphics were a little dark and I would have liked to see maybe a creepy ambient green/blue light emitting from some crystal shards embedded in the floors and walls. However, there was a good mood to the game. The music was pretty cool, too. Cool entry!
Loved the sprites and the lighting effects. A really good amount of polish put on this game within 72 hours. The game was fun to play as a raid boss defending its treasure. Way to go!
Fun game. The character movement was a little slow for me. I really dug the graphics and audio.
Interesting take on the theme. The puns were great. I didn't quite get what to do at first, as I tend not to read directions the first play through to see how intuitive the controls and objective(s) are for any given game. I ended up eating the diver at least 10 times, before I figured out how to bite the rope. Controlling the movement of the shark felt very tight and easy. Nice work!
Good ending. I really enjoyed spamming arrows, but figured out late in the game the charged arrows shot beyond the light and kept you stealthy. Was fun to play!
Thanks for playing! Health bar would have been great to include. :)
I just knew the WebGL version was going to fail horribly. First time trying a Unity WebGL build and I didn’t familiarize myself with the player settings. I need to educate myself here, so I can do it right next time. Thanks for letting me know! :)
I agree that some of the sounds selected are a bit annoying. It was one of those things where: do I fix it or just move on and fix it if I have time in the end. So, fix it in the end did not happen. Darn it. LOL. One thing that bugged me was the levels of all the audio and how the SFX and BGM were out of balance. Live and learn. I know I can do better!
I totally agree with the health bar issue. I’ll fix that. Putting in consequential elements was definitely something I wanted to do, but ran out of time. I had it started in my code, but in the end 1 hour became 10 minutes in a flash and I needed to start building. That excuse given, I’ll fix that too. The hit boxes I will investigate and fix. I failed to do any proper playtesting, which is incredibly important. I need to get more organized and faster doing things for next LDJAM. Practice, Practice, Practice!
To be honest, I have no clue what I was doing there in regards to the scoring. I need to study and analyze scoring mechanics and structures of other games. I just did what I did on the fly with no fore thought. Lame, I know. This is something I need to really work on and get my act together.
After I submitted the game, I ended up testing the game a few goes and found this big mistake in the keyboard controls. The start button for a controller was also messed up. Still learning and I'm bound and determined to get this down. A results screen needs to happen, for sure.
I'll be working on this one a bit more, so I can explore and learn from everything that I failed to do or include.
I appreciate everyone's comments and suggestions!
@Pomb
I just played it and I see what you are saying. This is something I screwed up on. I know not having a tutorial/explanation of game play of sorts really kills the player experience; even a screen at the beginning just diagrammatically would have been good to include. I wish I would have done that. The gray humans can only be killed with the fireball, all other shots will fly through them. Going back to what jodizzle was mentioning in his 4th paragraph, there should have been some consequences for hitting each type of human with the wrong type of shot. Plus, from your comment, the shot should be destroy upon hitting a human. Not just a bug, but my mistake to include a simple, one line of code. DOH!
I appreciate all the comments. It is really helping me out a lot. :)
Actually, shots that are not meant for that type of human will fly through them...dang. <Slaps forehead>
@bodsey
Thanks for the FYI. I'll correct that in the post version! :) I'll try the auto-eat idea and see how it feels.
Thanks everyone for your votes and comments. All the feedback has been very helpful and drives me to push harder to improve my game development skills! See you all in Ludum Dare 34!
Great game! The controls for the character worked well and I really like the artwork. I felt bad Sproutching the little guys. Nice job!
Really like the pixel graphics. A very different style of game play from everything else I've played thus far from this LDJAM. It would be cool to see this developed further and see the game more player active, than passive. I do like the idea of creating your own Kaijus like a mad kaijus scientist. Neat game!
This game really caught my eye the first time I seen a screen shot and was instantly a favorite of mine from this LDJAM after playing. I really like the pace of the game, it fits the mood and theme very well. The graphics and animations are awesome. Nice work!
Well...that was a bit creepy, but fun. By creepy, meaning that several of the names that popped up are the names of people I know and one being my cousin. Last name Sawyer. LOL. Whoa, weird. That ending was an excellent idea. The amount of action by the end, 383 casualties for me, was very entertaining to watch build up. It was fun to dart around and quickly destroy cars. The pace felt really good. Fun game!
Neat game idea. I really liked the oversea map and looking for potential "Mates". Enjoyed the artwork and audio. Very well done!
Fun game! It was tough catching the kid. I relied on just luck to catch him, mostly because of his movements were so erratic. The music was nice, but that one sound effect at the beginning of the level was a bit piercing. It kinda fit at the same time, though.
A Krakengood time...sorry, had to go there. Fun game, especially for those like me who tend to have their tentacl...I mean human hands into many things at one time. It got pretty chaotic when the ships started coming in faster. I got 1100. Fun game play! The graphics and audio fit nicely together. Cool entry!
The lighting effects were very cool, though slightly over done. It created a dramatic ambiance for the level making me a bit cautious of my movements. Though, when I was being chased by the "players", I threw caution to the wind and scrambled about through the stormy night putting me into more hazardous situations. Having a few close calls maneuvering among all the on coming fired shots was fun. Nice graphics and animations. Great LD Entry!
Controlling the camera was very touchy and quick. After a few minutes of playing, I had it down. My favorite aspects of the game were the artwork, audio and the concept. Nice job!
A really fun game of avoidance and short offense. The character movement and control felt appropriate given the icy surface. I like the rendering of the stylized graphics. Very cool game!
Excellent game and unified concept throughout. Wonderful take on the theme and art style. It really plays on your emotions from start to finish. Nice work!
Nice game. Would have like to play with a few players. The artwork has a nice style.
I like the battle system, however I gave up in the castle. I'll probably pick it up later and finish it to get the ending. Nice level layout. I had fun torturing the chickens needlessly. lol.
Hilarious idea. Was fun pulling all those starfish off Minaru.
Nice backstory. I played the updated version with the Restart button after playing a few times of the original version. For this style of game and difficulty, the iteration time is pretty important. I was caught by the army numerous times before I even hit 5 points. It was pretty challenging backtracking to gather points, while dodging the new oncoming falling humans and landing on a platform. I enjoyed the difficulty of game, but missed hearing sound effects and background music. Though, I have only done LD jams and if I did the compo, 48 hours and extra constraints would cause me to consider audio only if time allowed.
Nice entry and fun to play!
I like the style of the gameplay, but the controls feel a bit unnatural for a melee attack. Even though, after a few plays, I started to adjust to it. The amount of range attack enemies seemed out of balance, but it could have been the intention to make the game a little difficult out of the gate since the game plays fast. Regardless, those are minor issues.
I had fun playing Villaince. Nice entry, thanks for making the game and sharing source!
Lol. Yea, I did what I always do and spend too much time drawing, creating assets and then the gameplay never makes it all the way in. Always 25-50% there...really need to work on that. Thanks for downloading and playing!
Fun game! Love the faces on the objects. Controls feel great with either keyboard or gamepad. It was a bit frustrating in the tighter areas with the enemies chasing you, but kiting them around eventually helps you to progress. I'd keep working on it. Nice entry!
