LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Grow My Thing by ChronoDK 2015-04-21T06:39:00

You know, dick jokes aside, it's a pretty fun little game. Sort of like "snake" meets "space invaders" or something. The physics on the phallus (ooh alliteration) are also quite impressive.

However, it could have been anything other than a dick and probably still as fun, though maybe not as juvenile-funny.

BED✰HOGG by 01010111 2015-04-22T02:42:00

Top notch work! HaxeFlixel makes general platformer stuff such a joy to work with (we used it also) - you can focus less on the engine and more on all the cool stuff like FX and art, AI, etc that really help a game stand out. Great job on the art/design/music/et al!

I know it's mostly meant as a 2-player game, but I feel like the single player experience could be a bit better if there was a series of more difficult opponents or something, etc. But I know that's hard to pull off in 2 days.

The Magical Hat of Usefulness by randoman 2015-04-22T02:08:00

The cool guy glasses when you get the "source code" were a nice touch lol.

Great idea, though some of the items are nearly (or maybe completely) impossible to survive with (like the UFO catcher claw). I guess there's gotta be some challenge, but maybe a little too much. You want a game to feel like it's possible to win, even if just very difficult.

Ring Retorter by zatyka 2015-04-22T05:24:00

Guybrush would be proud. You must have had fun coming up with the insult pairs.

Animal Jousting by SimianLogic 2015-04-21T04:00:00

Interesting idea with the hand passing, etc. Also great artwork. Takes a while to figure out a good strategy.

Bubble Becky by Dining Philosopher 2015-04-21T05:35:00

Really well done platformer. The gum blowing was a great idea, especially how it worked in different ways for the different sizes.

I also really enjoyed the character animations, particularly the "determined" face Becky makes when she blows the bubble up.

Melter by Mase 2015-04-22T01:39:00

The art design is top notch. Really impressive.

The mechanics seem like they could be fun, but I can't get "shooting" to work, whichever way I aim the thing just seems to fall out of me.

Animancer by Nick Weihs 2015-04-21T07:14:00

I really enjoyed the greyscale, and I think it actually probably came out better than it would have if you had done color. The silhouettes just really feel "right." Overall a very sold platformer with a good challenge.

The part with the two bomb throwing guys on the stairs was tricky. Gave me trouble, but I got past it!

Billy McMath Solves Problems by Manky 2015-04-22T01:11:00

I like how it was basically nigh impossible to not get hit in the face with the football! True nerd power right there.

Voice acting is superb, story hilarious. I love how you just went for it and didn't hold back on doing all the characters, even C-C-C-Crindy!

Sal and Papa by McFunkypants 2015-04-20T23:21:00

Holy cow, this is hard to control lol!

The SFX from your son and the art are really cute. Too bad you didn't have time to do more on it!

Elem3nts by Pix3M 2015-04-22T00:48:00

First of all, amazing graphics. Fairly thorough tutorial. The actual mechanics of the tower building and upgrading is also pretty fun and innovative, I think it could really be used to great effect in a full blown game.

The gameplay itself, of trying to kill the enemies seems...off. They just kind of hop around randomly and ignore towers? I couldn't really figure out how to kill them or much of anything. I just built a bunch of towers and played around with the awesome tower mechanics.

Newt Scoot by CorgiCommander 2015-04-21T04:39:00

Love the concept! Sucking up anything and everything and flinging it at zombies is very satisfying. I like how you even had items break apart, like the couch cushions off the couch and books from the bookshelves, etc.

Boy, it really gets tough pretty quickly though. Perhaps I am just terrible at it lol.

Sir. Knightmare by Integershift 2015-04-21T01:37:00

The background rain sound really helps the creepy vibe, and the idea is really cool.

I feel like the art's a bit too dark, though. I had a very hard time finding the light switches, enemies, etc, to even figure out where they were in order to play the game.

pizza slap by dlowe 2015-04-21T00:02:00

Make sure your 8 year old keeps at it! He's got a knack for funny characters and ideas.

Mosquito attack by Filoox 2015-04-21T08:19:00

I agree more mosquitoes would be fun, to see how many you can get with your limited supplies.

The dog barking and atmosphere noises were great!

Mirrored by dopplerdefekt 2015-04-22T23:59:00

Fun game, I had actually considered something similar for the jam. I like how the level was handcrafted rather than just being random lines flying at you.

Intergalactic Alien Boy Band Conquest by Lady Beardo 2015-04-22T02:19:00

Just FYI: Breakin' 2 is better than Breakin' - but only because it has Electric Boogaloo on its side. I learned this long ago in a Blockbuster Video.

I liked the humor and concept! I had to go back and try multiple times just to see the funny outcomes.

TUGBOAT by lucentbeam 2015-04-21T06:49:00

I had an ton of fun swinging the bad guys around once I figured out how to control things! A little tutorial level with a stationary target or something at the start would probably help figure things out at the beginning.

Gets pretty tough when there's a bunch of enemies, that's for sure. The music enhances the frantic-ness when there's a lot of stuff flying around.

Mystic Stickup by Beardo Games 2015-04-21T01:21:00

This gets hard really quickly, but maybe I'm just a poor typist lol

Art style is cool as always.

Dischord by Wefiends 2015-04-21T12:03:00

Really impressive graphics and a satisfying gameplay mechanic.

Weapon of Darkness by Peni6 2015-04-22T00:41:00

My feedback is...the game is lacking feedback. Getting shot, or shooting enemies doesn't feel tangible enough graphically. Shooting in general also feels like it needs more graphical feedback. The first run through (since I can't play with audio), I didn't even know shooting was a thing despite emptying a full clip in button mashing style.

Concept could be fun if expanded upon, though.

Anagram Attack by ethankennerly 2015-05-11T13:08:00

Wow, this was really fun. Spent more time on this than any other game this LD, and only made it to level 50some. Awesome amount of content for a compo game.

Clarinetto by strawfield 2015-04-21T10:10:00

Impressive compo

QTST by DeltaF1 2015-04-22T01:59:00

Good atmosphere and fitting graphics. Seems like it could potentially be a fun engine for a full fledged game.

That said, the combat part of the engine feels lacking. Some additional visual feedback would go a long way.

Backfire by Marjie62 2015-04-22T02:59:00

Really fun concept, and solid graphics

Killer Robot Stickmen by cdrch 2015-04-21T07:21:00

Could be fun after a healthy dose of polish. Overall, I like the concept of a platformer Pacman style game.

Tinka The Turtle by ruerob 2015-04-21T06:13:00

Despite not fitting the theme, I actually quite like something about the graphics and movement engine.

There's some kind of weird forced perspective that hurt my head at first, though.

Electromagnetism by skele_blade 2015-04-21T10:58:00

Quite enjoyed the concept, controls were a little awkward though.

Bits and Pieces by tigerbyte 2015-04-22T00:24:00

Seems frantic.

Only real issues I had were the tiles causing weird strobing while the camera scrolled, and that the controls would get "stuck" if you moved from UP+LEFT to UP or LEFT (or any other combination)

Parasite by alpha_rats 2015-04-21T11:51:00

Seems to have a few bugs, and is kind of a little wonky. The concept is interesting, though.

A Game of Drones by TD5 2015-04-21T07:34:00

Pretty cool concept, but seems to get frequent source code errors.

Character Assassination by jesterswilde 2015-04-21T09:04:00

Pretty weird, but any game where you can make fun of a guy for LARPing is good in my book.

attack/defense by wesley.laferriere 2015-04-21T01:30:00

Don't apologize for trying something new! You did more than a lot of people who just give up or never try.

The simple pixel art actually helps the feel of the game I think, and helps you focus more on the choices and choosing the right one. I agree with ChrisGaudino that the difficulty should probably ramp up over time.

Just a dream... by ajopart 2015-05-11T10:43:00

Played it for awhile, it's actually quite fun. I'm not exactly sure how it works...it seemed red teddies were bad...sometimes? Other than that, though, hunting for them with the little flashlight was fun.

Darkest Dream by theStartlestare 2015-04-21T07:48:00

Surprising mood for such a minimalist engine.

SUPER BRO THROW by SinclairStrange 2015-04-22T01:46:00

Pretty entertaining, definitely challenging. Great art/sound.

Great job on the polish work like the pause screen, menus, etc. I know it can be hard to find time to fit that stuff in for a jam, but it shows attention to detail which makes things really seem more "pro."

I could see this being a 2-player game, where the other player controls the Bro in some way.

Birthday Bash by DoppleDanger 2015-04-22T01:35:00

Controls are sometimes not very responsive. I fell off a ledge several times because it just didn't read the jump button, and getting stuck on a hater's head is kind of annoying.

I like the art - it is simple but effective.

Vinnie Cancer by Asado 2015-04-21T12:01:00

Pretty smooth platforming mechanics. Fairly satisfying gameplay.

However, giving people cancer is...not exactly the funniest concept, but yeah.

Rogue Paper Scissors by bearcabin 2015-04-20T23:55:00

Pretty clever concept, surprisingly fun. I got up to floor 30 on my best try.

Rollout by Tortoise 2015-04-21T04:11:00

I had way too much fun just trying to figure out how to control the thing, and then the destructive power of such an AWESOME weapon over the poor helpless villages filled my heart with joy. Also, it reminded me of the ridiculous movie "Rubber."

Sword in a mirror by GameQuester 2015-04-21T12:32:00

Fun platformer

Glatto Boy by hellforge 2015-04-21T05:08:00

Loved the art, especially the textured feel of the environment - rocks and trees and such. Animation of the character is also top-notch.

The music felt somehow slightly out of place to me - it's a little too techno drum heavy or something -- can't quite put my finger on it, but it doesn't quite match the dreamier feeling of the environments. It's fantastically done for what it is, however.

The main character's power is kind of kirby-ish, but the rocket jump is interesting; would like to see more when you get some of the bugs ironed out. There was a spot where I fell through the map, for instance, right after the part where you do the glide jump the first time.

Potion Quest by juxipolo 2015-04-21T05:16:00

Interesting concept. I like the procedurally generated world and how there's stuff to pick up all over the place. It might be cool if the potion recipes had random modifiers as well.

As said above, control scheme could use some tweaks. Camera panning with WASD and the ability to path find at far away tiles would help immensely.

Ricochette by trenchgames 2015-04-21T05:57:00

Pretty fun mechanics, could be great with more focused level design.

Deadly rain by Sublustris 2015-04-21T08:57:00

Absolutely LOVE the art style, sound, and music, but the level design really needs some work to make it possible to progress without just hoping to get lucky.

Also, the flash file could definitely use a preloader. It takes quite a while to load, and the background is the same color as the page, so it feels like it's broken and not loading.

Extreme Flashing Fighter by AngrySquirrels 2015-04-21T08:37:00

Haha, I laughed a good bit while I played this. The art is hilarious (the guy's walking animation is super silly) and very well done.

Definitely too hard, though. The cop catches you a bit too easily. I think he's probably just too fast.

Some refining and more levels and enemies and such and you'd have a pretty solid game here, though. Good concept.

Elemental Castle Adventure by merrak 2015-04-21T07:07:00

I really liked how much atmosphere you managed to squeeze out of fairly minimalist graphics. Theme and mood were interesting.

As for the mechanics, I couldn't figure out what to do. I blindly ran around until I died a handful of times and that was about it.

Project Pigeon by LimeniusTeam 2015-04-21T10:27:00

Surprisingly fun game, controls are a little weird (mostly the camera), but pretty cool.

Big Boss Man Tower Defense by Rex Peppers 2015-04-21T07:41:00

Seems like a pretty solid Tower Defense prototype engine.

Fiero by speakupgames 2015-04-21T03:03:00

Fantastic models and animation for 3 days' work! The music is very relaxing and matches the mood very well.

Bar Fight by nihilaleph 2015-04-22T02:06:00

Controls are pretty awkward.

I enjoyed the fact that (at least it seems) different weapons impacted your movement speed differently.

Greedy Knight by felipeberquo 2015-04-22T01:28:00

Nice, responsive controls, good take on the runner genre. The enemies explosion was satisfying.

If you planned to expand and make a full game out of it, it could do with some more upgrades or various levels of the upgrades or something so you don't run out of stuff to buy so quickly (or just make some reset with each run)

One bug I noticed: if you sit on the shop screen for too long, the music will stop looping.

Farm Fury by ironleonem 2015-04-21T09:19:00

Really liked the mechanics of the game...it's fun having to kite enemies around while waiting for plants to grow.

The Amazing Fart-Man by fixedgerald 2015-04-21T01:45:00

Ragdoll games are always fun. I would have liked more stuff to smash overall, but funny take on the genre.

Beacon by SayHiBen 2015-04-22T02:36:00

Beautiful graphics, mood, and audio. Why can you not rate on graphics and auido?

Kid Kannon by ElanGleiber 2015-04-21T04:29:00

The concept of throwing the kid is pretty fun and clever with the switches, though the weapon when you switch to the kid is pretty traditionally zelda-like. I enjoyed the "temple" graphics and sound/music theme quite a bit.

I really couldn't figure out what to do when I got to the "boss fight."

Insult Duelling by natalye 2015-04-21T11:31:00

Nifty memory game, despite the main mechanic being fairly difficult to figure out. Humor is quirky enough.

TOUCH MY POOBY by sxmn 2015-04-21T07:40:00

My god, I touched a lot of Poobis. I feel quite enlightened now, one with the universe. Or at least one with your Pooby, which I touched. Many times.

I actually did have a lot of fun with this weird game. You have a strange sense of humor, and I like it!

SNIFF by dyfer 2015-04-21T02:24:00

The drug effect was very interesting and well done. I had a hard time getting past the first set of pits - the character's jump seems to just barely make it and I got frustrated having to start over from the beginning over and over.

Rainbow Tank by ManicMiner 2015-04-21T04:51:00

Reminds me of Smash TV meets Combat. The art is pretty fun!

Glorch's Great Escape by wg_phancock 2015-04-26T13:02:00

@Jwatt, yeah we haven't actually tested it on Ubuntu. Windows version should work fine, though.

Lawyer Golf by kevinthr 2015-04-21T07:30:00

Ok, I admit it, I pressed F right away. But then I replayed the game all the way through and I learned two things: Pheldon is terrible at mini-golf and is also a complete jerk.

The art style is perfect. Some sound would have been nice. The controls are a little odd at first, but I think they actually added some charm and they grew on me as I went through. The dialogue definitely kept me involved and I wanted to see where it went. Overall a very solid entry.

Knight Time Day Time by ragnarolis 2015-04-21T06:59:00

Decent base engine and concept, could be improved a lot with more enemy types and some different kind of shots.

Also feels like the shots should be auto-fire instead of semi-auto. Way too much clicking for how many enemies there are and how much life they have.

Evil Cupido: Haters gonna hate by Pixel Heart 2015-04-21T03:15:00

Love love love the art, idea and general feel.

There were a couple of levels where I died instantly as it switched screens, due to starting too close to an enemy, which was a little frustrating/confusing.

Radisheriff by Ourson 2015-04-22T00:32:00

This was actually a really fun game. The reload mechanics were fun, and the general gameplay was very smooth. Impressive amount of levels and features for a compo

I will say, though, that "the bullets are radishes" is kind of weak in the theme category.

Lookout by Pixelcyborg 2015-04-21T02:07:00

Loved the art and sound! The hacking theme is not entirely unconventional, but it was well very done nonetheless.

Main menu could use an obvious "quit" button.

Coloring World by SowiHowl 2015-04-22T01:52:00

Impressive graphics and interesting mechanic.

The controls are extremely awkward, though.

Gravity Gram by Zeriver 2015-05-11T12:26:00

Decently fun game. I've been wanting to play around with gravity mechanics like you in my own games, so nice to see it in action.

The platform mechanics themselves feel a bit...I don't know, somehow too fast and too floaty. Going with one or the other would probably serve the game well.

Silent Butt Deadly by TheBullet 2015-04-22T00:18:00

Surprisingly good level design. Could have used a few more introductory slower paced levels at the beginning, but pretty fun mechanic.

Latvian Milk by Dreyan 2015-04-23T02:15:00

Great game, very visceral feel to the guns. Good job.

Blockmancer by SByte 2015-04-21T12:19:00

Innovative mechanic and impressive graphics

B000MERANG by TheBigShot 2015-04-21T10:33:00

Really well done mechanic.

Myopia by generic_ghost 2015-04-21T03:26:00

Really great mood with the gong sounds and background music drone! Such a simple concept, but really a lot of fun.

Kitten Defense by Archonthewizard 2015-04-21T10:01:00

Surprisingly fun game. During the first few levels, I was thinking to myself "this would be awesome with more kittens", then next thing I know I'm controlling three.

One thing that I felt it needed was being able to "laser focus" some enemies with the laser. In many situations, I'd have a spider or rat eating the food, I'd lead my kittens there, then they'd go chase a squirrel or something. Cats, man.

The Harder They Fall by idoadler 2015-04-21T12:09:00

Decent color matching idea.

I found noticing my loaded color to occasionally be awkward, and had some performance issues...but an interesting take on the color matching genre.

Bullet Time by BulletsArePeopleToo 2015-04-21T02:40:00

Haha, turning the tables on those damn people! Very clever concept.

Anarchy Reigns by TeamCalcium 2015-04-21T12:36:00

Laughed quite a bit while playing.

Gender Gender by Chikoness 2015-04-21T13:24:00

Graphics and animations are very smooth and polished. Mechanics feel like a standard platformer affair, which isn't bad.

One issue is with sound. Holding space bar plays the jump sound every update frame...which is painful.

Taggit! by jfraser 2015-04-21T03:30:00

Haha, I had a lot of fun with this. I like how you made the cops kinda continue on your path when you make a quick turn. Made it fun to pull off little moves to evade them and sneak in a few clicks on the wall.

FIREFLY GUN ! by TRAB 2015-05-11T06:41:00

Really liked how the walking sounds blended with the other music. That's hard to pull off but it worked very well.

My first encounter with a monster actually made me jump, so quality work there!

I do wish there were a checkpoint system or a life system or something, though. Having to start over every time is a bit of a drag.

ScarKrow by Carduus 2015-04-21T05:49:00

Really impressive artwork and animations, coupled with fun mechanics.

Quiet Riot by GeorgeBroussard 2015-04-21T08:00:00

Wow, quite difficult to actually win, but I did finally manage to do it.

Absolutely love the old monitor-screen effect. Amazing how an added effect like that can really add to the overall feel of polish and evoke a specific feeling.

Top notch!

LD33 — You are the Monster

U no take Loot! by Orni 2015-08-25T16:59:00

Well that got difficult quite quickly, haha.

I felt like the traps were a little too set-it-and-forget-it. I basically just bought them all as fast as possible and then ran around shooting. At that point they might as well have been automatically set up for me. Maybe if they required a different "currency" that you unlock by killing guys, or they disable after a while, it would make it more interesting.

Still, fun concept and gameplay. Great job.

Monster Factory by UntitledQ 2015-08-25T14:20:00

Pretty fun puzzle game

A Shadow In The Night by tripleVisionGames 2015-08-29T10:24:00

Wow, this game was really really nice. Reminds me a lot of our game from last LD. Theme was great, art style was great, mechanics were clever. One annoying thing was not being able to move at all, and landing just outside the range of farmers and needing to mess around trying to do a tiny hop onto them.

Station Icegoden by mboaj 2015-08-28T07:47:00

Hngh...feels bad man.

The twist at the end kinda got to me...how easy it is to simply become a mindless sorting machine.

Earth Was a Bad Choice by zatyka 2015-08-28T03:44:00

It's like a less ridiculous and far, far, more charming version of indestructo tank!

The music gave had kind of a cute vibe, which I liked. Difficulty of the energy drop rate scaled pretty well I think, since the more guys there are, the easier it is to stay in the air, especially once they start shooting stuff.

The bouncing physics were spot on as well. Only complaint, I guess, is that it can get frustrating when not enough guys show up together, making chains really hard. Overall, though, really fun!

Monster Living in A Cave Terrorizes Nearby Village! by Unentokku 2015-08-25T04:28:00

The idea of the randomized battle commands in a turn based RPG is pretty cool, like a mix between Dragon Warrior and a CCG.

You! Are the monster by panda 2015-08-30T05:10:00

Surprisingly fun game, though the procedural puzzles had a few weak points. A couple times the answer was obvious after reading one response "I saw two people in red" while nobody is wearing read...obviously a lie. There was also a couple instances where I just had to guess between two people because there wasn't conclusive evidence.

Overall, though, really fun game. Very outside the box and enjoyed myself. Thanks for the submission.

The Howl by pereubu 2015-08-26T12:01:00

Very atmospheric game. The sounds, snow, misty vision, all of it adds up for a terrifying experience. Not sure if there was supposed to be anything to be afraid of? I was expecting to get killed by a giant wolf or something. Was the player the monster hunting bunnies? Don't know. Pretty cool game either way.

Primary objective by Aurel Bílý 2015-08-25T08:29:00

Nicely done; always a fan when somebody does a point-n-click adventure, since it's sort of a lost art these days! I really appreciated the context-sensitive menu design and artwork.

Something deep by General 2015-08-28T08:01:00

The tentacle mechanic was interesting and pretty fun. However, after a while it basically becomes impossible to aim the tentacles because there's so much stuff overlapping. It quickly got frustrating at that point -- it would attach to the wrong thing that you couldn't see instead of helping the existing tentacle drag down the sub or diver.

I think if the screen space were larger, there were fewer objects, or if you could release a tentacle, it would probably be less of an issue.

On the Growth of Ludum Dare and the Selection of Themes by Crowbeak 2015-08-25T04:47:00

Hahaha So.very.meta.

I think you proved that all of us are monsters for voting for this theme.

Ugly Turtle by HacksawUnit 2015-08-25T04:04:00

I enjoy the "play as bad guy" style coming out of this LD. The mario-like graphics look pretty well done.

Blob by RadioLemon 2015-08-25T04:47:00

Surprisingly deep mechanics, even if slightly confusing at the start.

From SLIME to KING by Druid 2015-08-25T10:41:00

Not sure if I missed something, or something is buggy, but are you supposed to spawn in and immediately be killed by NPCs? It feels like the FPS is running about 3-4x faster than it should be.

Given that, the graphics and item collectible system seem solid.

From SLIME to KING by Druid 2015-08-25T10:48:00

I managed to get to level 3 by abusing enemy AI (they can't make certain jumps, and just jump up and down), and the mechanics feel like a solid metroidvania arena type game, at about a quarter of the speed they are running for me.

Spooky Cuties by OnlySlightly 2015-08-28T06:55:00

Took me a minute to realize what was going on with the typing/erasing mechanic, but once I did I laughed at the silliness and cuteness. Then I embraced my inner monster playa and got some monster hookups.

I Want To Be The Bully! by Toccio 2015-08-26T13:01:00

Way too difficult, one mistake causing you to start the entire game over is just sadistic.

That said, though, the general mechanic of the game, eating smaller guys and dodging bigger guys, is pretty fun.

Daikaiju by GarethIW 2015-08-28T07:30:00

The TV overlay is genius. Like really cool, clever, and used in a good way. The quotes on the ticker are pretty funny too.

The main thing I didn't enjoy is that you can end up behind the buildings and kind of lose track of what's going on or what's shooting you because they block the camera. Not sure how you could deal with it and keep the TV feel, but it is a concern.

Morrzone Fling by TheColorMan 2015-08-26T00:37:00

The seal's tears will not save it. They only serve to give me more seal-flinging power.

Wish the game had some sound, even just a squealing sound when the seal hit the ground or something. Still, an entertaining little launch game.

Can I Haz Monsters? by Omiya Games 2015-08-25T09:09:00

The monster language is super cute and funny, as were the designs of the monsters themselves. Platforming was sometimes mildly frustrating, but the floatiness of the jumping definitely made it more possible. More levels with more words would be fun!

Martii the Rappasaur by Crazi456 2015-08-25T05:24:00

Not incredibly innovative gameplay, but I really like the visuals.

Late for the Show by Gamepopper 2015-08-25T21:22:00

I liked how you made getting dressed into a high adrenaline concept. The graphics were good, especially having a variety of costumes.

Could have benefited from a more intuitive control setup, though.

Waning Moon by duskpn 2015-08-25T06:37:00

Some of the cleanest art I've seen so far. The engine itself is nice as well, with some more polish and more content it could be a solid game.

Grow by fullmontis 2015-08-25T09:55:00

I really dig the graphics style, and general concept/theme. The gameplay could use some tweaks and refinements, notably more intuitive and responsive controls, but the idea isn't bad.

Consumption by Aevek 2015-08-30T09:20:00

Wow man, this is incredibly ambitious for a jam game, but you still somehow pulled it off. A lot more mechanics and gameplay systems in place than I expect. Could do with a little more player feedback when interacting with objects. Other than that, though, really impressive submission.

The Trial of Tyrone Rex by Manky 2015-08-26T01:17:00

It was like telltale games meets plastic models and cutouts, and hilarious as expected. I am also horribly afraid of volcanos, so the case's final outcome makes 100% perfect sense in the most logical way possible to me. The judge was very smart in his decision.

I feel like it lacked a little in interactivity, but the story probably just wouldn't have fit any more interaction points without them feeling contrived and repetitive.

Hope you do some more stuff like this down the road!

VINDICTAE by Pickens Inc. 2015-08-29T11:33:00

Really like the concept, this is VERY similar to one of the ideas I had for this jam. We ended up going a different way, though.

Monster Date by Lady Beardo 2015-08-26T09:31:00

I found my ideal match!

The dialogue options were pretty funny; I played through several times just to see the different choices. I think I liked your boy band game from last time a bit better, but it's a tough choice.

The Chase by Caracole 2015-08-26T10:54:00

I really want to like this game, the visual effects are pretty amazing and definitely feel like a fun addition to what feels like an infinite runner game.

That said, cool visuals that kill performance aren't worth it. Firstly, the game was opening fullscreen, but somehow without focus. When I would click to give it focus, it would minimize. After getting it into a window, it lagged pretty badly before eventually just freezing.

Mmmonster by Wefiends 2015-08-26T01:41:00

Absolutely love the hamburger kid and the happy monster with a happy little pentagram on his forehead. The music and sound were also spot on.

I felt like the puzzles might have been more fun/challenging if there were a candy limit per level. But still, I played to the end and had a lot of fun, and was mildly disappointed when I ran out of levels.

Subject Status: Alive! by Flatgub 2015-08-25T09:07:00

Quite fun game. The engine seems to leave a lot of room to expand upon with new mechanics, which is an underrated quality in jam games.

I was actually thinking about a type of turn based stealth game for this LD. Then we did the exact opposite.

No Credit, No Problem! by Razoric 2015-08-28T07:16:00

Definitely reminiscent of Papers, Please. I liked the audio a lot - it really created a paper-pusher feeling. And the "you owe us $way_more_than_you_thought in 84 months" thing got the message across well.

I felt like there probably should have been a time limit where the person would get impatient and leave or you have until 5pm to process everything, or something to give a sense of difficulty. As it is, there was no reason for me not to be very thorough, which made it feel too easy.

Loch Ness Monster : THE GAME by Darius 2015-08-25T09:21:00

Hahaha, the audio in this game is hilarious. I also laughed out loud when I saw the potato boat.

The difficulty spike is pretty sudden with the mine boats; I was thinking that the game was too easy right before that level and then it suddenly got difficult. So maybe the pacing was actually just right after all?

Anyway, super fun launching guys into orbit.

The Monster Within by S0lll0s 2015-08-25T07:30:00

Different between beast and human score was initially confusing. Then again, that fits the theme well, a black box morality system.

D.A.S.H by TagliatL 2015-08-26T12:50:00

Overall a fun mechanic. Decent amount of polish and small things that make it feel nice. Felt kind of awkward playing on the keyboard, though...I always dislike random keys on the right side of the keyboard.

Whacko by Zenkerdus 2015-08-25T08:12:00

I had way more fun on this than I should have.

Mobs, Inc. by Pietro Ferrantelli 2015-08-28T02:57:00

Wow, what a solid game. It took me a little while to connect that dying == verbal warning, but once I did, everything fell into place. Great art, music, everything.

Passengers by nerial 2015-08-25T17:36:00

Some sort of mini-game when actually heading out on the boat might have been interesting, but then again maybe it would have detracted from the hopelessness feeling of the whole situation.

Overall very interesting and entertaining experience.

Human Hunt by Tridecimal 2015-08-25T21:41:00

Couldn't figure out what to do with the guy throwing a pitchfork. Died 20+ times trying various things, nothing worked. Needs more player feedback.

Office Hours by valid4life 2015-08-26T09:40:00

I actually really liked the zooming effect with the beat on the rage mode. I thought it made it more interesting and blood-pumping.

The two songs between the different modes were perfect opposites.

It would have been cool to have a couple of different weapons you could switch to, and maybe a mini-map to help you find your way to the co-workers.

HUNGRY CTHULHU by KodingNights 2015-08-26T01:58:00

It was frustrating to catch up to the humans (and then get shot by them) but it was quite satisfying seeing them explode into a ridiculous blood spray when I did.

The music didn't seem to fit the cthulhu theme that well; something more creepy might have worked better. It kinda made me think of sci-fi aliens or something instead of cthulhu.

Saucer by CodeNMore 2015-08-26T03:07:00

I really enjoyed dropping the rocks on the cannon things. Nice attention to detail with the color changing UFO; things like that are always a nice touch.

456 TAHINI by wademcgillis 2015-08-29T05:04:00

Loved the "music" as you walked. Great throwback to atari style. It had this constant feel of "this is so weird, but I MUST find a way to the cookie!" feel from the very beginning. I must admit that I couldn't figure out my way all the way through, though.

Blood Moon by MagnesiumNinja 2015-08-25T05:04:00

Very polished game, quite impressed.

Camp Starvation by Double Zero One Zero 2015-08-26T03:22:00

Wow, emotional connection achieved. I found myself hating the guys with big appetites who would wand to eat all the food and sending them out into the wastes hoping they would either die or bring back food, either way being a "win."

I am a monster.

Music was fantastic, and art style conveyed the stark nature of the environment, even though pixelly.

Staying Alive by Hectigo 2015-08-25T20:21:00

Enjoyed the graphics and the general concept. Needs more player feedback, moving the veins around wasn't as sadistically fun as it should have been.

Executioner by TheZiggy 2015-08-26T09:20:00

It would have been really interesting if you had stored the given answers in a database somewhere and compared the player's results to the results of everybody else who also played. That would give a sense of one's own morality vs the majority and add a "make you think" layer.

As it is, the game is only interesting for so long since the results don't really translate into much beyond your own personal feelings as you play it. Maybe that's all you were going for, though, in which case it was a success.

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-25T17:59:00

Wow, that was actually a lot of fun to play with - you can sort of make up your own objectives, like how much to avoid the purple bubbles or how big to try to grow, etc.

Kind of reminds me of a single player scaled-down version of agar.io

Virion Alpha by Bloodyaugust 2015-08-28T08:13:00

The levels really need some sort of timer or minimum moves or something. As it is, you just sort of click on stuff and wait, and can't lose. The art and idea were interesting, so it's a good start, but it definitely needs something "more."

Going Downtown by justinooncx 2015-08-25T05:47:00

Definitely better played with touch than a mouse, since it's faster to touch the right thing, at least for me. The controls were not obvious at first, but I did figure them out through trial and error. A little tutorial -- "touch X now!" sort of thing -- would help a lot.

Pretty fun, though, once I got in the groove!

Consume by Rocketship 2015-08-26T09:09:00

The static/grain effects and accompanying sounds were a nice touch and really made for a nice 5/5 mood.

The gameplay comes off as a bit simple and not as rewarding as it could be when you consume someone or cause alert to go up. Some more feedback in the form of vision cones or alert bubbles or something there would have been nice.

Still, you pulled off the creepy vibe really well!

Player Rush by Hot Box Games 2015-08-28T03:27:00

I will never look at a raid boss the same way again!

The art and sound were pretty awesome, and the overall concept is pretty good. With a bunch more character types and better AI, and probably an unlock system for your boss to upgrade and choose attack types or defenses, you'd have a pretty solid final product I think. It would be pretty cool if you could truly be the "boss" and change the dungeon around as well to add traps or minions or something like that.

I felt as though the boss character could use a little more visual feedback when he gets hit. Some screenshake/flashing sounds or particle effects, etc would "sell" the hits better.

Digestive Quest by Snippety 2015-08-25T10:21:00

Surprisingly fun. Solid graphics and mechanics that don't see often enough. Difficulty really ramps up if you fall behind at all. Got tapped out at 18 kills, which feels remarkably low.

Monster Disco by Four Quarters 2015-08-25T10:00:00

This game is phenomenal. The graphics alone were enough to carry it. Then once I actually figured out the gameplay...sold.

Super Awesome Giant Cat by Muush 2015-08-25T07:20:00

The music was so epic and moody for such a silly game! Regardless, I was squashing people with a giant cream colored cat and that's good fun in my book.

Pac Hunters by orange08 2015-08-25T18:09:00

I was impressed at how good the AI ghosts were at helping trap the pac-men. I never really felt like I was fighting to make them do the right thing; they worked well as a team. The pac-man AI was also pretty good.

Not an entirely new concept (controlling the ghosts), but it kept me playing for quite a while, so definitely a fun take on it!

Monsters Under The Bed by Interface 2015-08-25T07:51:00

I had a lot of fun with this one! The mommy mode was a good addition beyond just having the kids peeking over the side. I could envision having a bunch of different levels with the idea where you have to hide behind things or rearrange stuff so you can get through, etc.

Sefivn by razieliyo 2015-08-25T13:55:00

Aside from being unfinished, the RPG aspects seem to be pretty indepth. Plus Pokemon.

The Devil's Daughter by SinclairStrange 2015-08-26T11:25:00

Super polished game.

Too long, and the platforming difficulty is too high for the controls. The walljumping is more frustrating than anything I've seen so far in LD.

Which is a shame, I was incredibly impressed by the visuals and number of mechanics for a jam game. But now I just want to break something. The level with the 1 wide pillars with spikes at the top, with the falling blocks and bullet hell from the ceiling was my breaking point.

The Devil's Daughter by SinclairStrange 2015-08-26T11:28:00

To add, don't get me wrong, I still gave a very high rating, because the game is amazing. I'm just disappointed to be leaving it in anger instead of amazement. I was mindblown during the first 3-4 levels. Amazing artwork.

Nimble by Lynx 2015-08-29T00:31:00

Very solid game, fun mechanics and nice graphical style.

Monster Sheep by Caspila 2015-08-26T09:55:00

The sound effect when the sheep get beamed up is hilarious, and the art is really great. Would definitely work well on a touch device. Top notch stuff!

Chirping Of Blood by onilink_ 2015-08-25T08:56:00

Wow, this game is very well done actually.

The engine is very crisp, along with crazy blood effects...and the windshield wiper clearing was just awesome.

Combover Monster Campaign Manager by andyman404 2015-08-25T04:56:00

11/5 humor

Shark Swimulator by Karai17 2015-08-25T06:33:00

Really good looking engine and graphics. Could have used a few effects to make it feel better...having the camera lag behind slightly while changing direction likely would have made it feel amazing.

Good Guys Always Win ! by ErelDev 2015-08-25T08:06:00

Heh, the monster throwing furniture and gold bars to protect himself is pretty funny.

It felt like I wanted the items to drop from where the monster was holding them off to the side in his hand, instead of from his center. I missed a bunch of times at first because of that. Once I figured it out, I was ok, but it was hard to aim, especially for small things like the sword.

Eat Humans by BoyWithStick 2015-08-25T01:47:00

The sound was mildly grating, but I really like the graphics and general theme.

Where-Wolf by mde 2015-08-26T12:44:00

The mechanics ended up working better than I originally expected. The platform mechanics themselves were kind of clunky, but forgiving enough to not be a big issue, but the puzzle aspects with mirrors and such was interesting.

Oko Furia by Tselmek 2015-08-26T00:08:00

Very strong engine and nice visuals.

Echidna by ironleonem 2015-08-25T01:39:00

Surprisingly atmospheric and a good "story", though possibly too long for people to experience in a Jam game. The graphics have a nice style.

The Baby Eater by sararyCow 2015-08-26T09:25:00

Baby: the other OTHER white meat. Baby: it's what's for dinner.

So simple but still pretty entertaining. I found myself laughing at the concept of sorting out babies and eating them.

Lardum by Grahhhhh 2015-08-26T12:21:00

Neat game. Still no idea what the secret was supposed to be.

Eye In The Sky by djfariel 2015-08-25T10:32:00

Graphical theme is great, sounds work well.

The gameplay feels a bit too stiff, though, and the charge meter feels "un-fun". Knocking buildings down with giant lasers is a lot of fun, punching buildings while unable to shoot lasers is less fun. We needs more fun. Give us more fun. More lasers.

The Thritch Remains by Dreyan 2015-08-25T06:29:00

The download link seems incorrect.

The Thritch Remains by Dreyan 2015-08-26T12:55:00

So went ahead and tried this, and I have no idea what's going on. A spacebase building game sounds cool though!

Betty the Yeti by grywhttl 2015-08-25T01:50:00

The graphics are nice and the physics are incredibly fun to play with.

50 DKP Minus! by Archonthewizard 2015-08-29T01:16:00

I like the concept of playing as a raid boss, and the level up system with skills is impressively done as well as the art. Gameplay is kind of slow, though, and needs more feedback for the player.

Giggles, the friendly clown by Sanju 2015-08-28T07:40:00

Haha, this game definitely would not help with the fear of clowns! The trippy music was pretty great in the insanity mode, and the game made me laugh as I was running around squashing people.

It was a little hard to aim and time the claps in insanity mode, but I think maybe that's just kinda part of the difficulty.

Not sure what the different tricks did, if anything.

Tenebrous Expanse by WubAlliance 2015-08-25T06:55:00

This is a very polished game, great aesthetics and thoughtful gameplay. Was kind of odd starting with level select having all levels available.

Drunkula by francismoy 2015-08-25T02:00:00

Really like the artistic style

SPACE JUNK by pixelgriffin 2015-08-25T17:21:00

Man, the humans send out our whole armada over what amounts to basically a "your refrigerator is running" prank? We are dicks.

I REALLY enjoyed blasting the ships with the giant lasers, but the turret shots just seemed kinda pointless...they are small and really hard to hit anything with. Maybe if the shots were a bit bigger or they homed better or something, they would have felt more satisfying.

Also, I ran into a bug (on OS/X) where my controls got stuck moving down and went off the bottom of screen and I couldn't do anything or move back up/left/right. I tried pressing all the buttons and I ended up just having to restart.

Still, overall concept and gameplay is a solid 5/5. Not sure if you plan on expanding it in a post-compo version but I'm sure plenty of folks would be into it.

Don't get caught! by nmrsmn 2015-08-26T10:13:00

Controls were solid, and the concept was fun, especially with the infinite levels. Art is nice, though I know that wasn't done by you.

I wish there were a compass pointing me in at least the general direction to go or something. I get that you want to feel lost, but some direction would have been nice. Also I got stuck a couple times on raised platforms after coming off of a bridge.

Sly Slime - Revenge On All Players by reckhou 2015-08-26T12:10:00

Pretty nice game, very similar to ours. A lot of polish and juice for a jam game, though the difficulty could use some better build up.

Karnage in Poupouland by wRadion 2015-08-25T01:25:00

Really like the graphic style, and kicking random guys off a cloud is very satisfying. Feels like it needs a couple extra mechanics to really make it great, though.

Fear of the Dark by JamesTanm 2015-08-25T01:21:00

Pretty interesting mechanics, it's kind of like a stealth Pac Man lol

WEAKER BOWSER BROS by JHM 2015-08-25T05:13:00

Decent mario-like game, that's a lot of graphics to recreate during a weekend.

Run for you life! Monster! by Plomeg 2015-08-25T10:13:00

I liked the mechanics, they feel like a different kind of twitch gameplay that what you usually see.

Lifes Decisions by squarepug 2015-08-26T13:37:00

I like how you make people decide to be the monster.

Just RAAWR it ! by Strike 2015-08-26T11:49:00

A lot of fun, very similar to our game but did it in 3d so you could do things we couldn't. I actually like the controls better than ours, and the collapsing buildings are good fun.

Envelop by ethteck 2015-08-26T13:11:00

Interesting graphical theme. The gameplay, while good in concept, has some fatal flaws that really stop it from being as good as it could (unless I missed something). Smaller guys are faster than you, so chasing them through a bullet hell just gets you killed. Big guys kill you on contact and you seem to lose more from shooting them than you gain. I managed to eat one guy after a dozen or so attempts.

Envelop by ethteck 2015-08-26T13:14:00

Follwup; I decided to try the linked version instead...you really should just get rid of the embedded version. Having the full screen viewable makes it a completely different, and quite enjoyable game. Updated rating to represent the full version.

Hecatomb by FieroNZ 2015-08-26T00:32:00

Thanks for the mac build! You might want to update your links list to say Mac/Linux as well or people might just skip it thinking it's windows only.

As for the game itself, I found it fast and furious, and it made me want to try multiple times to improve my score. Ending up launching myself off the edge into space was frustrating and entertaining at the same time.

Overall pretty entertaining.

Dude, Stop by Patomkin 2015-09-01T02:33:00

It was like wario ware for horrible horrible people! Loved it.

I feel like there could have been more visual feedback in a few places to show you could interact with something, like changing the cursor. Overall, though, it wasn't too hard to figure out.

The Hosts by Warxen 2015-08-26T08:42:00

The ragdoll deaths were pretty fun, and the walking animation was pretty spot on.

I feel like the gun maybe made some parts too easy, but overall I liked the concept and general gameplay.

On the first level, I had a melee guy go through the wall and get me, which was a little frustrating and surprising, but I'm guessing that's a bug.

Professor Chaos's "Mean Sardine Machine" by Mach60KAS 2015-08-30T20:30:00

Very finny story game, laughed several times throughtrout.

HAIL - Humans Are Ill Lived by RiverAndRun 2015-08-26T08:53:00

The mood created by the background ambient sound, the shadow-based life feedback, and the lighting effect was really good. The controls were nice and responsive as well. It was difficult, but felt fair.

I wished there was more of an indication of when the enemy died, like they fall over or flash and fade out or something. Also having to start over from the very beginning after dying was a bit of a drag.

McTremson Bar by collaboration 2015-08-26T12:33:00

Great mood music and artwork, and an intriguing setting/story!

I felt like the character walked a bit too slow. I spent a lot of time just waiting for him to walk over somewhere. Also the dialogue boxes were a little odd to interact with; I kept walking when I tried to click them. It felt like you should be able to click anywhere on the dialogue box to clear it and the character's actions would be "paused" by them.

Overall a great entry!

Madboss by HappyHour 2015-08-30T20:32:00

Pretty funny game, beating down your employees is kind of fun. Then you start feeling bad.

Escape From The City by miwuc 2015-08-29T06:15:00

Ha, not bad. Did you record the audio yourself? The art and sound kind of grew on me over the game, fitting it's style pretty nicely. Could have used more player feedback, though...something to let you know when you're being hit, more indication of hitting other things, etc.

Insurgency Strike by nili 2015-08-25T22:01:00

Really amazing engine you have here. The flying feels fantastic, and the directional camera in the top is a really nice touch.

Accidentally running into the exit at the beginning, however, almost made me leave early because I didn't know what was going on.

Jörmungandr by placatedduck 2015-08-26T13:43:00

This game is really freaking cool. Most endless runners I'm like "meh, ok"...but I was captivated to see how giant I could grow and loop back onto myself. Really enjoyed it.

Monster - Your Worst Is Our Best by Ellian 2015-08-25T04:29:00

The art is really awesome, and the sounds/music fit quite well. The concept is also pretty entertaining.

I wish the interface was a little easier to sort through. I had a hard time organizing the matches because you can only view one screen at a time and you have to keep clicking CV when changing monsters to see their description. It would have been easier if you could view two items at once (job and CV) or click through the monsters while the CV window stays up.

You Have Been Found Guilty by Tommyno222 2015-08-26T04:41:00

The art/animation is really nice. The floaty high-speed jumping made it way too easy to just speed through the level, though, especially since the combat is pretty tough and fairly rigid; it kind of encourages you to just run away. Maybe that's what you were going for, but if you wanted to make the combat more of a requirement I would lower the jumping speed by a fair amount, so it's just enough to get to a roof but not much more.

Hell Wars XVIII: Soul Harvest by quill18 2015-08-25T04:21:00

Doesn't fit theme particularly well, but not bad gameplay and pretty decent voice effects.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Stone sacrifice by hadesfury 2016-04-19T03:11:00

The art style was really fun, and the sound effects of the guys as you pushed them around was pretty funny.

It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to do, though. I think the middle area that you're supposed to push the guys to could be marked better, like in a different color instead of just slightly darker. The guys going into the worship pose was good indicator, but it was hard to see where to put them from the "high" vantage point at first.

UprightPath - It Came by uprightpath 2016-04-20T05:09:00

Took awhile to figure out how to play.

Noctem Shift by olkeencole 2016-04-19T06:11:00

Very moody and atmospheric, and nice use of the 3d morphing system.

I think I would have preferred if you could hold down the shoot button to throw the balls more quickly, or some sort of "highlight and press a key to interact" system to interact with the puzzle elements.

Goo Patrol by starpixie 2016-04-20T04:36:00

I enjoyed the central mechanic of picking up parts. The controls felt a bit sluggish, though.

Pain Geometry by Malvern 2016-04-20T05:56:00

Had a difficult time playing it overall. Controls were weird, and the arrow key controls combined with webplayer caused my browser to scroll while playing.

I enjoyed the art style, though. The geometric feel was great.

Getting shifty by Ithildin 2016-04-20T01:02:00

Pretty fun game, we discussed doing something similar. Makes me happy to see another entry using HaxeFlixel :)

The enemy projectiles are a bit too difficult to see, though.

You Have to Shift the Shapes by RGB Games 2016-05-09T09:26:00

Very clever combination of two casual themes! It needs some sort of "goal" or end game to reach, and probably some more strategy to the upgrades, but it's a pretty fun start even without.

A82-Recon 3038 by Geti 2016-04-19T03:44:00

I managed to get a runtime error. The trace given (if it helps):

Line 1692: attempt to index local 'v' (a number value)
in ? line 1371
in draw_state line 1258
in _draw line 1579

This was after finishing a round.

As for the actual game play, I really liked it. I had to play multiple times to figure out how to find the shapeshifters, and it was compelling enough to make me want to figure out the mystery. Graphics/sound were also excellent.

Through Oneself by Omiya Games 2016-04-19T08:35:00

Wow, what a cool idea! The cutout effect was well done. I could see a very cool full game come out of this idea, no problem.

There were a couple areas where the two "worlds" were the exactly the same and it was hard to judge jumping distances since you couldn't see the character at all. I think some play testing to find those areas and adding more variation of textures could fix that.

Spinstar by Gamepopper 2016-05-09T09:13:00

Always nice to see some Haxeflixel in use! Pretty fun game, and great job on the difficulties. I feel like it needs one more mechanic to fully flesh it out though; I'd say I'd probably add something requiring you to absorb the bullets to stay alive, refilling an energy bar or something.

Blind Rush by Glaydur 2016-04-20T05:53:00

Really enjoyed the graphics. Gameplay was simple but worked.

The Amorphous Adventure of Blod by Croze 2016-04-20T04:29:00

A bit repetitive, and on the second level I jumped on top of one of the bullet enemies and got stuck on top of him, couldn't finish the level and couldn't jump off him.

Xenosphere by oxysoft 2016-04-21T00:33:00

Really fun take on the breakout genre with nice art and sound, and some great moody lighting! I'm willing to let the occasional lag issues go, since it's so hard to track that kind of stuff down with limited time, and it didn't really impact the gameplay that much.

My only real gripe is that the shapeshift theme usage seemed a little weak, but that's really minor.

Great job! Would love to see a version with paddle powerups or different balls, etc.

Acute Clinic by Lady Beardo 2016-04-20T03:10:00

I did what any good plastic surgeon would do, and pushed to get dem big bucks! I did feel bad for Iris, though. The artwork was very fun.

SHEEPSHIFT by Beardo Games 2016-04-19T23:18:00

More fun than it probably should be ;)

Limber by Wefiends 2016-04-21T02:49:00

Nice art, music, tutorial, overall well done! I've seen a few other games with this similar theme but this is by far the most polished and easy to figure out and play.

I only wish the "combo counter" was closer to the character, like a little meter underneath him or next to him or something. A few times I wanted to look at it and it being up in the corner caused me to miss the upcoming shape.

Also for some reason, I kept wanting "X" to be the splits move, but I'm not sure why. Perhaps because it's similar to the "S" shape. Probably just a quirk of my brain.

Star Tribe by GrimGary 2016-04-20T04:43:00

Very ambitious for a three day project, and mostly delivers.

Mazelessness by mikeware 2016-04-19T07:33:00

I'm can't quite decide if the "box" control scheme is good or bad. I mostly got the hang of it, but regular old arrow keys might work just as well or better, even with the isometric view. It would be worth trying out in any case.

Other than the control questions, the game is pretty solid. Not knowing how the maze is going to play out adds an interesting twist and makes it pretty difficult.

Shape Shooters by Funske 2016-04-21T02:05:00

Cool game with a great music choice and some very interesting puzzle-like elements.

I'm guessing it wasn't intentional, but the triangles were able to shoot one shot after they were dead and invisible, which made for some frustrations. There were also spots where circles seemed to block shots after they were gone.

Formation! by Saladon 2016-04-19T08:18:00

I like the idea a lot, but it's hard to fully judge when it's half finished. I'd like to see it have some mechanics involving attacking from certain directions or multiple armies or something more than just rock/paper/scissors with different names.

Hotline Trump Tower by Skipi 2016-04-20T06:05:00

Very innovative game, was impressed by the detail put into the enemy AI.

You Are What You Eat by MagnesiumNinja 2016-04-19T05:25:00

Really quality work and great use of the theme!

It could benefit from more theming of the rooms with furniture and cover items (as opposed to just empty rooms with the same basic walls/floors) but I know it's hard to fit in doing that much art in 72 hours. Perhaps you might continue work on it post-jam?

Wizard of Shapes by puppetmaster 2016-05-09T08:51:00

I liked the music a lot. I felt like there was a little bit of disconnect with the mouse pointing and only being able to shoot up/down/left/right. It felt like I should be able to shoot at any angle if I'm aiming with the mouse. I think the controls probably would have worked better with a binding of isaac style twin-stick setup, like WASD to move and arrow keys to shoot.

Altered Beard by gillenew 2016-04-19T08:08:00

The graphics, sounds, and animations are really fun, but the jumping feels a little too floaty. It's too easy to get stuck on the rolling trash cans and die from one mistake.

Ro Sham Bot by huminaboz 2016-05-09T08:42:00

Art style is cool, and I like the way the music changed for the different enemy types. Felt like it got a little too difficult to me, but I know it's hard to balance stuff in just a weekend.

Bloodshifter by mar3k 2016-04-20T15:56:00

Really good game, especially for a compo. Card games require a lot of content, which is impressive for a 2 day game.

PowerBeat by Insality 2016-04-19T05:13:00

I always love rhythm based games. The general design, art, sound, etc are all very well done. The difficulty is very unforgiving, though - it could use some "easy" sections to start out to get the hang of things.

I Want My Dragon by Bobsleigh 2016-04-20T05:06:00

Surprisingly difficult platformer, but decent level design, even if it starts off slightly difficult.

I really didn't like the controls, though, only using arrow keys for movement is awkward nowadays.

Lycan Trail by Souperstrawer 2016-04-19T07:58:00

Wow, this was challenging. The art was fun and definitely reminded me of classics like Oregon Trail.

I think the game might be improved by slightly shorter levels, so you can get to the fun of the upgrades a bit more often.

Shifto by rayman1900 2016-04-19T04:29:00

Well done for only 8 hours! The controls are fairly unforgiving, but the fact that you can just try the same level again makes that ok. Definitely an interesting idea that could use more levels!

Orange To Blue by BLEU 2016-04-20T05:37:00

Enjoyed the mechanics and art, though the perspective was slightly weird and could really do with a checkpoint after an area.

Maelstrom Mayhem by OttersDen 2016-04-20T05:42:00

Wow, the three way war with changing sides is phenomenal gameplay. Even if the controls feel a bit clunky, the core idea is awesome, and I kind of wish we would have used something like that.

The Morphing Manor by Evergreen Games 2016-04-19T05:44:00

Took a little while to get the hang of the idea, but I eventually figured it out. Nice idea and use of the theme. Music and sounds were also quite good. I feel like it would probably work well as a mobile game, where you could slide the pieces with your finger or just touch the arrows.

Klurby by Ildfuglen 2016-04-20T15:39:00

Fun concept, and pretty good level design :)

Could use a bit more feedback, though.

Aether Crypt by Tselmek 2016-04-19T06:31:00

Fun! Nice platforming physics, well designed level, and great art. It's a shame you weren't able to get any music; it would have helped complete the package.

Several times, I found myself wishing the transform animation didn't take so long, standing in front of a switch or something. When I had figured out the puzzle, having to wait for the transform to complete could get annoying. It didn't take too much away from the enjoyment of the game, but it was a concern.

It's Hard Out There for a Reverse Werewolf by dwemthy 2016-04-20T05:13:00

I liked the graphics, felt a lot like Don't Starve.

Purity by Sean 2016-04-19T03:24:00

Wow, what a really great little "protect the middle" game! Simple but very satisfying gameplay.

Love the art design glitchy effects, and the music mixes really well with the blocking sound effects. The way the attackers come out in the sweeping patterns makes it very satisfying to block. A mobile version with touch support could do pretty well I think!

Perfect Form by samreid 2016-04-20T04:22:00

Really enjoyed the fractal shapes, though it was a bit confusing at times when the shapes looked very familiar but didn't match.

Chocolate box factory by BoltKey 2016-04-21T01:11:00

Great job with the random level generator, and a solid puzzle foundation to build it on.

With some polish (more exciting sound effects, flashier art) you would have a pretty nice little puzzle game you could probably sell on an app store.

Shifty Berries by bentglasstube 2016-04-20T04:54:00

Fun little platformer, graphics were great

Reconfigure by wg_phancock 2016-04-20T03:15:00

@DiFFtY: Yeah, the sound cutting out is one of the bugs we're aware of, but didn't really have time to track down. It might just be that there ends up being too many voices after a while and OpenFL just gives up and stops playing them.

And yeah, it can be hard to maneuver when you're a tier 4 or 5 ship - they have a lot of mass. Especially if you're shooting a lot, since the recoil pushes you back and can make it harder to steer. You get 5 seconds before starting to lose life, though, so it's definitely not too hard to get back unless you go way out of bounds.

Reconfigure by wg_phancock 2016-04-21T00:15:00

@neontropics: yeah, I would say mouse is required. Touchpads usually don't work to well for fast-paced games in my experience. ;)

shapeshifting hammer by MAN JO TEAM 2016-04-20T19:48:00

The art is interesting, but this seems more like a tech demo than a game.

Star Shift Journey by Asturk 2016-04-20T23:24:00

Sound was very well done, and the concept is good. Controls are pretty solid.

I had a little trouble figuring out or remembering how many shots each enemy type would take to kill. Maybe a life bar or something would help there.

JaJa's Bizarre Transformer by reckhou 2016-04-19T03:58:00

Interesting idea with the bouncing bullets - you kind of end up creating your own bullet hell if you're not careful.

Also, LOL.

Henkan Pachinko by AnaGF 2016-04-22T23:19:00

Interesting mechanic and nice art/music. I'd like to see more elements than just boxes that turn into triangles, like things you have to rotate or circles that turn to ovals, etc. Some pachinko ringing style sound effects would really add to it too.

The Friendzone by DiFFtY 2016-04-20T23:37:00

Funny idea, and I like the art a lot. A shame there's no sound - some sort of grumbly sound when you're getting embarrassed would add to the humor.

The bed seems a little too small to really get away without falling off, especially since you have to move the arms and legs individually and they are a little hard to grab.

Creative entry!

Trial 21 by mooncalf 2016-04-20T05:21:00

Wow, very smooth platformer with interesting level design and gameplay.

Until I climbed out of the world and fell forever.

The Maitre D by SeaDads 2016-04-21T02:34:00

Great concept and game overall. Loved the art style and squeaky balloon sound effects, as well as the snooty voices.

There were a few times where it was difficult controlling the character, but mostly it was just getting the hang (haha) of hanging from the character's head, or my hands getting mixed up on WASD vs arrows. Also...what kind of restaurant has spikes on the floor!?! ;)

WaLeFi by Strike 2016-04-20T19:39:00

Nice fluid movement/shooting controls and fun graphics/sound, with some nice polish. Good job!

I would have liked to have had one button per element so I could switch directly to them instead of cycling. That might be harder to pull off on a gamepad, but you could have each shoulder or face button correspond to a particular element.

Shape Shifters by The_Platformer_Labs 2016-04-20T14:47:00

Potentially fun idea, though potential not realized with the ball just being worse than the square.

PacShifter by jcmonkey 2016-04-19T04:25:00

Interesting idea. Tutorial was done well and puzzles well designed.

I think the floatyness of the controls makes for too many frustrating situations where you get stuck on walls and just barely can't beat a level, etc. A classic pacman style of movement would probably work better and be less frustrating.

Shape Shifters by Autovelop 2016-04-19T09:04:00

I was disappointed when the game was over so quickly, so that's always a good sign! The physics were satisfyingly good and the art style fit well.

The music was a little repetitive.

TRUMP: Political Shapeshifter by Brice 2016-04-19T05:01:00

Today I learned how to be a NIMBLE NAVIGATOR.

Clever and relevant. Good job.

YCWG - You Can't Win the Game by BigBrother 2016-04-19T01:44:00

Fairly fun game, I started getting FPS towards the end, though.

Animorph by CalmKai 2016-04-19T02:47:00

Interesting idea with the becoming sentient, and the music was very moody.

I think some sound effects like the robot walking or the stone rolling or something like that would have helped a bit.

The part at the beginning with the stone rolling was actually the most interesting to me, as far as how it controlled. Expanding on that more might make for a more fun game.

Handfull by UgiWithAKnife 2016-05-09T08:13:00

Really interesting idea and well done art design. I really felt like the feedback on where to move the fingers to was a little too sparse. Maybe a way to see what the final shape is supposed to look like by clicking a button or something would help.

Shape Factory by David Cookie 2016-04-20T20:07:00

Nice take on the rhythm genre. I like the humor of the head smash.

It got pretty difficult pretty quickly. I think part of the difficulty is that the shapes are all the same color -- humans are inherently better at quickly recognizing and reacting to colors than shapes (unless they are color blind), thus why all the guitar hero type games use colors. Also, I'm not sure if they "dizzy" mechanic adds to the fun or detracts from it; I've already missed the correct shape so sometimes it felt like adding insult to injury lol.

Shapes Attack by qikcik 2016-04-19T10:10:00

Simple and quick to pick up, but it gets pretty difficult with 4 shapes to keep track of, coming fast and furious! It definitely feels like it needs some sort of thumping music to go with it, especially if the gameplay could match the rhythm.

jelliskul by cakeknuckles 2016-04-20T04:58:00

I liked the tamagotchi feel.

yoel color defense by yoel1234 2016-04-20T19:57:00

The mechanic is interesting and fun, and I liked the music.

However, sometimes you get stuck in a situation where it just randomly doesn't give you a particular color and you lose. i.e. If I have a whole screen full of red and zero blues even coming, and all it gives me is blue powerups, it's going to be frustrating because it feels like I'm losing due to no fault of my own. I would probably put in some sort of weighted randomness so it is more likely to give the pieces needed. Alternatively, you could add a "next piece" type box so the player can plan ahead.

Oops! My Dear is a Deer by Remdiky 2016-04-19T09:21:00

Really cool art and sound FX. It didn't seem like there was much of a strategy though, other than just blasting everything kinda randomly.

Combunation by Petya 2016-04-19T03:32:00

You might want to update your description to say "WASD to move, Arrow Keys to shoot." It took me quite a while to figure out I was supposed to be using twin stick style controls and I was very confused.

After I figured that out, the game was fun enough, but I think there should be some more reason to shift to the different characters, like they have individual power bars or something. As it is, you can just choose the shark and blast everything pretty easily.

Transmutation by RetroSpecter 2016-04-20T05:28:00

Seemed to break for me, was the same vertical room over and over, and then a bunch of stuff started clipping through the floor and such.

WolfBit by MatMortatti 2016-04-19T04:44:00

At first the controls made me very confused, and then once I figured out what was going on it was pretty fun. Frantically trying to move my fingers around to get away...great mechanic. Would be interesting to see some more enemy types or something.

Art and presentation is very well done. Great mood.

I Don't Trust This Food, Man by Jack_SGS 2016-05-09T09:51:00

Hahaha, this is so weird! I feel like you probably could have just made the game infinitely restart with random "trusted" guys and we probably would never have known the difference as far as the "only one level" thing.

Cactus Corner by Millefey 2016-04-19T10:16:00

Fairly straightforward matching game. Really enjoyed the graphics and music.

Cactus Ray by neontropics 2016-04-21T01:48:00

Nice take on the classic block-pushing puzzle...turning the enemies into blocks.

The enemies could probably use some better indication of which way they are going to walk when you take a turn; it took me a little while to figure out how to time the punching without dying.

InfinityDrop by EpiFouloux 2016-04-20T23:07:00

Really cool idea and nice sound/music. Overall quite fun.

I think the different blocks could have used a little more differentiation in the colors, though. The "minus" blocks were not very clear that they were bad at first, and the colors are a little too close to be easily told apart when moving quickly.

Single click to restart would have been better too...I wanted to play multiple times in a row and it felt like there was no reason to have an extra click.

LightShifter by Hyden 2016-04-21T01:38:00

Great idea and mechanics, and a nice visual style.

The puzzle designs could get a bit frustrating later on, though - you'd figure out the puzzle and make one little mistake jumping and have to start the level all over after falling in a pit, waiting for a platform to move very slowly, etc.

Under The Tree by Feng 2016-05-09T08:24:00

Atmospheric and interesting. I do worry it might be too slow paced for your average LD voter to play through. Some more stuff going on here and there, or more of a hint at a story earlier, would probably help it feel more alive and draw the player in better so they stick around for the full experience.

EUROPA by freakoftheyear 2016-04-20T14:52:00

Simple mechanic, and pretty graphics. Could use "more".

Space Dimension by bigbatardyt 2016-04-21T00:08:00

Looks and sounds great and has an interesting mechanic, but it was difficult to understand when enemies were shooting me sometimes, and the controls were pretty touchy in 3D mode. It's a great concept, but I think it probably just needs more than a weekend allows to really get it working in a fun and intuitive way.

Greedy Miners by RafaSKB 2016-04-21T23:10:00

Reminds of of Lemmings, if the lemmings were all jerks I wanted to kill. Nice art and sound and mood.

It did get a bit repetitive, though; basically whack a mole that eventually becomes impossible to keep up with. I would have liked to see miners who had varying AI or more things to hit them with, etc.

Shape Shift by staircase27 2016-04-20T19:46:00

This really needs a "follow my instructions to learn how to play" tutorial or levels with increasing difficulties that introduce new concepts one at a time. The red/green/blue relationships are really hard to figure out.

Golden Fold by Ibzy 2016-04-19T06:45:00

Interesting idea and the general feel of the game is nicely peaceful seeming, even though there's no sound or music.

The dirt background seems just too blurry or something. Next time try using a hard-edged brush instead of soft. The clouds are nice and crisp, and better fit with the great origami style characters.

Transformansion by DrunkDevs 2016-04-20T14:25:00

Loved the music, and the metroidvania inspiration.

PsychoShift by Ratmena 2016-04-20T19:24:00

The art, music, and idea are really nice, but the controls are just too frustrating (specifically jumping). I'm not sure how to improve them exactly, but maybe keeping more inertia when switching from circle to square.

ChickLife by Nodari Kobakhidze 2016-04-19T09:50:00

Haha, I was smiling the whole time I was playing this, due to the funny art and chicken dance music. I liked that it was fairly forgiving with the checkpoints, because some parts were difficult to get past.

Shining Eye by Wisedawn 2016-04-19T04:09:00

The ship back/forth mechanic is very interesting and unique, and an upgrade system is always fun. I felt like the shapeshifting was a little hard to control due to the momentum drifting after changing. It probably would have felt more satisfying to be able to stop more precisely, but maybe that was intentional to increase the difficulty.

The sound you chose for the shapeshifting was also a little too whimsical sounding, I think. I didn't quite fit the serious tone of the game.

Robot Snake by eduardogacn 2016-04-19T07:15:00

Really great mechanic and feedback with the "magnet" icons -- so simple and intuitive I picked it up almost immediately. Nice puzzle design, solid responsive controls, and cool music.

I just wish there were more levels and puzzle elements! Some sound effects would be nice too, for hitting the switches or collecting stars, etc, even if they were simple bleep-bloop type sounds.

Big Star Gala by Rico 2016-04-20T19:31:00

I had a hard time figuring out what to do exactly.

Mass Squire by BattleReadyGames 2016-04-19T02:57:00

The pixel art reminded me of old Atari style, which was cool.

I felt like it needed more feedback when you were shooting the enemies, like having them flash or get pushed back or something. The pixel just sticking to them was not very clear that I was "hurting" them at first. Same for enemies hurting the player - it wasn't clear if I was even getting hurt or when.

THEY CANNOT DIE by Mango Malarkey 2016-04-21T00:49:00

Pretty good for a short amount of time. Controls are solid, and sound is good.

Seems like there needs to be more to the enemy AI, though, if you want to improve it...right now you can sort of just kite the enemies around in a big clump and drop towers near the spawn points.

Do Robots Dream About Yoga? by MementoGames 2016-04-23T04:22:00

I've played several games with this theme, but this one is definitely one of the best. I never felt like I was really fighting the IK too much (maybe a little). The robot voice saying NOOO is absolutely hilarious.

jleznuke by Raptorij 2016-04-20T05:49:00

Enjoyed the arm physics, and how each arm was connected to a different button. Couldn't manage to hit the boss, though, that's probably on me.

Combibox by pogo 2016-04-20T15:06:00

Liked the portal inspired graphics, fun matching game.
