Cool concept, I dig the super restrictive resources. The controls are a little strange though, I think if instead of clicking at various positions you used A,S,D or something, it would make it much more fluid.
This game is just begging for an eerie soundtrack! Cool art!

Graphics are awesome, gameplay is interesting and unique, like Zambini said, begging for an eerie soundtrack. Excellent work.

Gorgeous art and ambiance, gameplay is a bit obscure, I had to read the instructions to understand what was going on.
Pretty cool dark concept :)
Nice game. very hard and I had to look at the instructions again after loosing, I was expecting the larva to spawn on their own. but you made it so the player grows the seeds. good game!
I really dig the graphics style, and general concept/theme. The gameplay could use some tweaks and refinements, notably more intuitive and responsive controls, but the idea isn't bad.
Nice artwork! I also found the controls a little confusing, but the gameplay was quite interesting once I got the hang of it. In some ways, the mechanics (other than controls) being a little obscure was a plus because figuring out what to do felt almost like a puzzle itself.
I was able to get to the point where my health was constantly going up - spawn 4 larva, kill them with the leg as soon as each of them transforms to the final state. I never really used the scare thing.
I like the graphics a lot.
very confusing gameplay, I wish the tutorial image was included in the game itself. It would've helped given that the leg didn't show up if your mouse was above the upper portion of the screen.
However the graphics are awesome and it's actually a very pleasing act of impaling my own children with a huge stick. I don't know why but it is very fun just because of this. I love how the graphics have a very fucked up feeling to them, especially the ground.
If this were given more balancing and perhaps a bit more gameplay ideas that tie into the evolution process (perhaps making pupa somehow create fruit in some weird fucked up process). This would make you have to utilize the pupas in some way so you don't just spear them instantly (thus giving the scare feature some actual use). However, as it is, it's still a very solid game and one of my favorites so far.
didnt really get it, but looks cool.
soundtrack would be nice.

Nice drawings !
May be a bigger screen ?
May be if the cursor become a pointer when you are hover an interactive area it would be more intuitive ?
Anyway cool jam entry !
Very interesting concept and gameplay, pretty graphics. This is quite extreme resource management, quite difficult to actually gain health.

Love the concept; controls are a bit confusing, though. Gameplay makes me think a bit of "What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord?" which purports to be a dungeon simulator but is really more like an ecosystem management game.

Bummer that Dropbox won't let me download. Looks artsy and interesting. I'll be back!
Creative (and scary!) art and concept. Some sound effects and music could help complete the mood.

Pretty darn good mood.
Hard game though.
Cool art!

I couldn't find a strategy that worked well enough to ever survive long; passive health loss plus loss for making grubs plus loss for attacking them made it seem impossible to break even, let alone come out positive if I was lucky.
The feel of the game was evocatively weird and gross. I felt pretty monstrous, like a vile, abusive parent or something. And what beautiful, nightmarish artwork!
Good stuff.

Ooh, that's gloomy. The graphics are nice. The concept is original. I did not found a way to survive long yet. x)

Very creepy graphics!
I liked the idea that it costs you something to grow them, but you have to wait for them to start getting bigger before consuming them. It gets pretty frantic at the end since you are losing health constantly and yet need to wait before you can gain it.
Graphics were creepy good but I couldn't manage to stay alive for very long.
A monster feeding on their monster offspring, that's quite creepy!!
Nice job!
The yay:
- pretty interesting idea
- graphics and mood
The nay:
- it needs some sort of performance indicator; I don't know, cycles survived, children killed, anything that would work as some sort of hi-score metric or goal
- also, maybe start with slow health decrease, so that later it gradually becomes faster making things more difficult?
- game could indicate which area your mouse is in (i.e. scare-area, leg-area or grow-area)
- no audio
- space for restarting in otherwise entirely mouse-controlled game
Also, if you wanted to expand upon the idea, I suggest adding some sort of menu, along with ingame tutorial. I, at least, find it worth expanding upon.

Decent, though not very interesting. Had difficulty ever getting past 30 in any of my tries.
Good concept!
The controls are weird and unclear.
Nice work anyway! :)
Very interesting game. I really enjoyed the graphics, very dark and depressing like death should be.
Nice eerie graphics. The concept is pretty cool, but once you get a good machine going and start breaking even (I would spawn 6 or so larva and kill them just before the first -3 attacks), the game gets repetitive. It's definitely a good start, and with some additional strategies (think different mutations of the larva) the game could really pick up.

Super mood! The graphics are perfect and things are appropriately depressing. The fact that everything you do hurts you is just perfect for the mood. The game's difficult (and could use more hints as to how to play), but it's fun to discover the mechanic and beat the odds! It's a great start, it'd be great to add more things to do once we figure out the right timings. I tried the post-compo link too, but it didn't work (said "404, not found").

wow, i really love this aesthetic. your art is creepy great. its like a minimalistic hr geiger. some of the best in the jam, really.
i like the gameplay and idea a lot. the whole thing fits the theme really well and your art really sets the mood quite well.
that said, there are some things holding it back.
i think the amount of points/life you get from each larva at each stage could use some balance. as it is, it's very hard to survive for very long.
i think you need to give more feedback on how you're doing in the game, i guess. some sound effects might be all that is needed. this might not be needed after balancing (and balancing might not be needed if you fix this).
i suspect, but can't make it long enough to confirm, that if you *were* to be able to sustain a game indefinitely, it might get tedious. i imagine there are ways you could vary the gameplay up (different larvae or methods of killing them or something), but don't know how well that would actually work.
p.s. the itch.io page for the post jam version is a 404 right now.

Gorgeous graphics. Some small sfx and atmospheric soundtrack would have added a lot.

Good job very cool!
I like the creepy tree theme and the cannibalizing monster here. I was confused at first but the tutorial graphic helped and someone mentioned the four larvae at a time strategy which worked for me. Clever balancing of resources and clever clicking of elements to grow, take, and scatter life.
post-jam link seems to be down though
Lovely style and nice simple gameplay. Was a bit lost at first but after reading what I was supposed to do it became a nice little time waster. Digging the style and mood a lot!

The game really has that special something when such a mood is created with only a pixelated image with a few shades of grey and no sound. If it only were a little more complex. And of course adding the sounds wouldn't hurt either. Still, really good work.

The Post Compo link is off :( . Now, the monster, man, it is scary! The atmosphere is eerie, pretty good. I know everybody said already, but this game deserves some audio.

Wow! This game have totally amazing art! And i also like basic idea of evil monster tree. But gameplay was boring after a while.
All in all, maybe not best, but really memorable entry!
Interesting concept. Could have been more responsive though.

Love the art style. It might be too difficult at the beginning.
Currently PostJam version is 404 for me.
