The First Odyssey by davisan 2013-08-26T18:02:00
Not the best thing ever, but I definitely appreciate the effort that you've put into this. Nice idea, and I'm sure with more time this could evolve into something awesome.

I take the "Not the best thing ever" back. I feel this deserves attention. I really like it, I'm just not good at it :D - just reduce charge time!
Good concept, platforming was waaay too unstable though i'm afraid, and put a large dampener on what was otherwise an enjoyable game :)
Nice! Could do with some audio!
"Ah toilet humour. Mere comedy in other countries, but in England, the basis for a whole CULTURE!"
Really want to play this, but when it opens, it gets stuck at loading 262%! Why?
Can't get it to run! It gets stuck at 42%! :( I'll get chrome later and try it then.
Like the mechanics, graphics are simple but nice to look at and the pathfinding was superb. Sound would make this promising project into a great game!
Couldnt run D:

Like it! I suck at it, but I like it nonetheless! Very stressful! Very funny! Very good!
I like the idea, and the gameplay is probably really cool too, but I'm too dumb to get what you do. Reminded me of papers please though, which is a good thing!
One question: 10 seconds... how?
Fantastic! Love the racer itself, but the SMS made me smile and grimace at the same time, and that countdown is really pressurizing. The text to speech lady is also hilarious.
You probably already know this, but OfficialNerdCubed, my favourite youtuber featured your game in his video "3 Free Games Friday 40" :D so congratulations, that's been my dream.
Like the idea! It was kinda fum, but it needed a better tutorial and maybe some audio! I think you shouldn't let this go here, and further develop it into something amazing!
Very funny :D Loved the intro, and the SE were quite comical.
Graphics were pretty, but I didn't really understands the gameplay. I never knew how many enemies would appear from where, or how much damage they do in comparison to my guys. I'm sure if you put in a tutorial or something to improve your game's conveyance, people will enjoy this more.
Nice use of theme! Walking sound was a little irritating, but I like the concept. Story made no sense XD but that adds a bit of humour in my opinion :)
Really like the look of this game!
Loved the graphics! I would have preferred the slowing power to be a collectible or cooldown based powerup though! But still, I really liked it :)My only complaint is that avoiding the bullets is difficult because the colour of the enemy bullets makes it hard to see.
great graphics, fun gameplay, humorous design.
Very confused! :)
I like it! Being an expendable soldier is awesome, but I wish every so often one could play as a heavy robot! I didn't really understand hwo to power surge the enemy base though... :)
Haha, the intro made me laugh. The game itself was pretty fun too. At first I was like "Well, this is incredibly easy". then it turned Acid Mode and I died almost instantly :) GG.
...What did I just play?
Whatever happened in the past half hour, I like it. Soundtrack please!
My highest rated so far :D
Ooh! Just realised, the menu without the words would make a brilliant screensaver :D
Brilliant! I love it! :D An online game in a weekend? That's the future!
Love the humour, nice art style, combat is a little confusing, but adequate :)
Brilliant concept, but confused. Where are the exits? Am I supposed to able to go off screen, or is it just that I have too small a monitor?
good game, liked it a lot. Control scheme needs improving, and it gets pretty ridiculous at times, but love the concept. However, it made a horrible deafening sound at Game Over, is it supposed to?
Love the idea, easy to play, hard to master. Music is a little irritating though :)
good job! But I was really confused when the other door appeared.
Nice idea. I would suggest you add some variance to the levels other than adding enemies. Almost all of the levels had the key on screen when I spawned, and after doing a quick circle round spawn, I was able to find the exit. Nice music, and, I think you should fix the delay on the laser :)
Like the idea, needs a bit more of a tutorial and a tad tighter controls.
Develop this a bit more, and it could be brilliant!
Great concept, nice art style! Pretty fun, but it threw up this error while playing:
ERROR in
action number 2
of Step Event
for object obj_prisoner:
Error in code at line 2:
if obj_main.active=0
^

Ah Game Maker! If you could try my game two I'd be very appeeciative :)
Thank you so much to everyone who played, and thanks for the praise :D - It's great to hear I made a game that was fun, and will definitely take into account the suggestions people have made :)
@Tanser
Thanks so much :D
@Foxtacy Thanks as well :D really appreciate it!
Thanks to everyone! :D You all have made my summer, letting me know I made something fun :)
@almightyzentaco Thanks :), I don't know why its so large. I'm going to develop it more, and give it better visuals, and I will definitely do my best to optimise it!
@designatius Thank you :D
@Joxno Thanks :)
@ConflictiveLabs Thank you for your feedback, I really do appreciate it, and will look into this right now :D)
@iterative deepening heh, thank you, It is quite hard.
@wally2069 Thanks for the feedback. Don't worry, when my sprite artist turns up, the game will get a complete graphical overhaul! :D
@Lightmare Studio Thank you for your kind words :) I will upload the source right now, check back in about five minutes :D - and thank you! :D
@jay griffin :D Thanks for the praise and advice! You made The
Duellists! I really enjoyed your game :)
@Lightmare Studio Really? MP3 is better for bgm's than wav? Okay, thanks so much for your help!
Oh my God! Thanks to Lightmare Studios, the file size has reduced from 110 mb to just 16! Freaking amazing!
Are you sure?
Ill try re-uploading.
Try again now.
@panurge Thank you! I am planning, once I've had the graphical overhaul, to add a tonne of content :D
@kilanc09 Thanks :D I am most proud of my Sudden Death :)
@hbocao Thanks for the kind words! You are (and I am) in luck, I was planning to do just that! Just as I give this game a graphical overhaul.
Wow not had a play in a very long time D:
I don't really like installing things, but I think was pretty neat! I also quite like your programmer art (I like anything
- have you seen mine?!) :D , so well done.
Like the concept! You could have not used default sprites from GameMaker's library, but we can all forgive programmer art :)
I like it! Took me a little while to figure it out, but it was fun, and I like the terrain "generation" and pathfinding!
I assume its not finished lol
Ah confused! :)
Good concept, scary audio, funny name and generally nice. My only complaint is that there's no way in telling where the portal is, it's just luck. An arrow or something would be helpful :)
Love it in every way :) A tutorial would be nice, but I figured it out by the first level :D Highest rated so far :)
Fun, polished, and nice to look at :D Could have been harder though :)
For some reason I also really like the sprite for Ariel Fischer - that focused look makes me laugh, and I think an entire game is required for her.
Ah! Only android.
I'd love to say I liked the game, but unfortunately I can't play it! When I first ran it, the menu showed up and it said "Press SPACE to start", so I did, but nothing happened! I ran it again, and now I just get a blank screen D:
Sorry, I couldn't get it to work. It threw up an error regarding Javaw.exe, but I have Java 64 bit fully updated, so... sorry again.
I like! I think the simple ideas always are the best. Music maybe? This was my first every game dev comp ever too!
Nice style, but mostly impossible, an English version would be better, and never use GM's display text thing, its breaks the theme and makes it look a tad unprofessional.
Cool, needs a public server.
Ah web version is a download! :/
Ha! Love the idea! I can't beat it though. I realised that some of the levers and buttons CAN be interacted with, but I have no idea how it impacts anything XD
The reason your game is getting no plays is because it has no Windows version D:
D: Links aren't working! It just doesn't connect! That's a shame, because, unlike some of the others, I really like the idea of a public "Canvas" :D
Super fun :D Love the weapons :)
Love it!
Fun game, but what's it to do with the 10 Seconds theme?
Like the art, but I couldn't get past the 2nd jump either XD
I like it, nice animations and particle system!
clever idea, nice!
Controls are a but tricky, graphics are awesome and is genuinely fun to play.
Great potential, although the timer doesnt last for ten seconds, more like 20 :)
Yes, I am really sorry - I just didn't get time to add instructions, there is a little bit of a block selection bug, which I will fix later on today! (and fix falling out of the world :) Thank you for playing anyway.
I have no idea what game you are referring to, your feedback wasn't very helpful AND it made no sense, as I am able to do all of that. Did you even read the description before playing?
Game has been patched and now actually is playable! Yay! Also no offense to you, Stvr, i just felt you commented just to be malicious.
thrusters require 10 Fuelesium, so are you sure? And the non restarting, that is something I haven't come across. Thank you for the feedback, I'll look into it.
I greatly appreciate your taking the time out to write this lengthy comment, and the feedback was very helpful. I realize the fact that the gameplay is lacking at this stage, and will heavily develop this in the future to make it ACTUALLY fun.
Great concept, I'm not sure if the game's really hard or I just suck (most likely the latter), but it's really difficult! It's awesome fun, and I laughed at the intro "1,2,5! Three sir! 3!" XD
Greatly enjoyed! Graphics look nice, could do with some music, and the explosions are a bit loud, but it was fun, and I laughed when the game 'glitched' and then I read the text. Good job!
The game was a bit confusing to learn, but awesome afterwards. Fix the full screen though pls, the UI is really kinda broken when you do that! Mad props for the changing platforming, reminds me of my game! (Not even a shameless plug!)
Um, sure. That was one fine Duck.exe, like I stated.
Uh, it was, super deep, and totally expected. Gr8 m8 I R8:
8/8
I loved this while it lasted! The game started as a few lightbulbs, and it became sharper and sharper, it's ingenious! Love it, but I died when I got the colour monitor and it went black :(
Thank you for playing anyway, Asa. Tomorrow I will fix the turning issue,
but I must disagree with the lack of involvement - hanging back will not damage him while you'll get crushed and nuked haha.
Thank you for the praise, Jupitron, MM was my main influence!
Thank you! I have since updated it, as I realized he took too much damage due to a typo by me, and that the turning issue Asaratha mentioned was a bug that has since been fixed. :)
Thanks, Windmill! I'm surprised people like the graphics, I can't draw to save my life!
Thank you, both of you!
Thanks! And yeah, through rigorous testing I discovered that, in rare cases, the Heathen Wizard finds himself stuck, not sure why, but I'll do my best to patch it!
Thank you for the feedback! I've been trying to balance the Heathen Wizard best I can, maybe I've made him too hard? I need to work on it some more.
Thanks, both of you! I actually realized a bug where the flare doesn't actually destroy blocks (which it was intended to) so yeah, oops! Sorry about that, I don't tend to use it, crappy beta tester is what I am! Patched!
RJHunter, that's surprising, but not in a bad way! The audio isn't really impressive right now due to colossal lag when explosions happen, so I'm porting the game into GMStudio. I will definitely take what you have said into account, and thanks TeamQuadratic and Sublustris!
Aw, was sad that I the game turned out to be non-existant :) I actually thought 'damn, that's the catch!' when I saw the first guy chasing you, then I even laughed in panic when I saw the giant horde XD. Hope you turn this into something real!
Amazing tone and graphics, and generally a really charming version of Pong! Love it.
Hilarious confusion, very innovative, but a little impossible to manage eventually. Like it!
Nice concept, a little repetitive eventually, and the music becomes a bit droning (not sure if that's correct use but whatever XD)
One of the best I've played yet! My DK 2 and I thoroughly enjoyed smacking dancing zombies upside the head, even if I had no idea of what else to do :)
This reminds me heavily of Super Hexagon, and that's great! Stylish and sleek, great music, slightly hard too hard to tell which triangle you should be deflecting first, and it'd be nice to have a bit more audio and haptic feedback when you do something right or wrong - flashy, noisy, etc.!
Great concept! Sound would be nice, but I bet levels would be easy to make, so you could really pump and flesh this out!
The instructions o_O they were comical! The clashing information was really confusing at first, but it was pretty fun once I actually understood what to do. Sick graphics! Also, tune down the music!
The overall tone was pleasant, a cute graphic made up for the MS Paint visuals :) but the platforming was a bit too imprecise for me, and the sound was nice, but also a bit lacking. Good premise!
I liked it, the concept is nice, my biggest issue is the pushy download, took like three captchas and a monetisation thingy, little irritating.
I like it, nice particle system implemented too! Slightly repetitive for me though, probably because I don't usually play these kinds of games.
Genius! I would love to play a full version of this, too! Tricky to control all 5 to get them where you want, though, but I'm sure with more time it could be improved.
Nice idea, gameplay was fun, too! A personal thought was that I found it hard to use V and B while also pressing space, it made my pudgy fingers clump together, maybe also allow the Up arrow for jumping?
Not exactly a game, but bonus points for bringing back the time I used to spend doing these things in PPT as a kid, thinking it could be used to make fully fledged games! Some more interaction maybe, but unique choice.
OpenColorIO.dll missing D:
Challenging! I like it, I hope you add more stuff, like sound!
Stylish! Much nicer than Cookie Clicker, and pretty!
I like it! Alas, I'm terrible at point and clicks, so it took me a while to figure things out! I like the idea of being able to type in significant dates from history and having them appear with a mission to do, nice aspect for a game with constant updates! 'Twas a little annoying to be locked out of my inventory every time the Royalist spoke, though, and I would say you should Opt out of being voted for audio, as (correct me if I'm wrong) I'm pretty sure that's Mcleod's music? Like the game nonetheless!
Hey! I actually have a DK2! I really liked how non-nauseous I felt when I 'played' this. I really like the idea that, if you randomly place an exit around the map, you have to physically search for it by looking around to give your little buddy some top-eyes, all while he has to dodge and kill enemies and such. Awesome potential, if you did that, I'd play it - heck, I'd buy it!
These Owl Physics! Fun, I like it, but difficult!
Fun! Reminds me a lot of the Deathrun games in TF2 :)
Adored it. I had been following your posts (as I have said, soft spot for randomly generated stuff) Kinda annoyed when after evading Theseus who was near the entrance at the time of his candle going out, I didn't realize he'd try and escape.
Luckily, he moves so slowly through swivel walls that I caught up :) made me really appreciate the Minotaurs advantage. I don't think everyone likes it as much as I do, but I thought it was tense, fun, and I love the maze's swivel walls.
Nice concept. I know you probably ran out of time for this. I'm not sure if I was supposed to be invisible during terrorizing, or if there is anything you can do during it, but it has potential!
haha you call this a game?
Immersive story, gameplay is heavily lacking.
You're a funny guy. This is really worth my time.
Humourous yet quite innocent, I liked it! Challenge could be ramped up a tad, like maybe a Dad is always trying to find you, really slowly, or something.
Overall, solid!
Always like a charming Idle clicker :)
Sad and yet quite nice little tale. Surprisingly little to do, I found myself wanting to get revenge on these 'heroes'.
Cool.
Gameplay wise, my brain couldn't tell which button needed to be pressed (idiocy on my part), so I began just spamming F, G and H, which then turned the game into a kind of endurance test to see how long I could spam :)
Just a lazy git, I am.
Best graphics I've ever seen for a 2D entry.
Satisfying murder-tastic gameplay.
That was fun! Extremely difficult
11900. Killing was satisfying, and is a mechanic I'd like to see developed further, else spamming left click can become tiresome! 7/10.
I really like this. It has a great premise, decent music and audio, good execution and innovative mechanics.
Got stuck someways in, clean and calming and clever. Loved it. Theme is a bit irrelevant, but hey! It's a great game.
@Literal Games That's a compliment to me, haha, though I think the game needs to be a bit more forgiving.
@Sprawl Thanks, they are just stupidly tanky, but I'm taking your advice to heart with balancing.
@AlgorithmicsAnonymous If there's one thing I can actually do, it's make stupidly nonsensical similies :)
@Devjo, I'm surprised you complimented the graphics, thanks. The problem may lie more with conveyance than with controls, but it's definitely an issue requiring addressing.
Thanks all for playing!
@reallysketchy Thanks for the praise, I'm actually planning on making it a tad easier, maybe by gaining health from possession.
@DinnerInTheDark thanks for the praise, and I agree, I've the biggest problem with the conveyance.
Thanks :)
@rotpar @SeaMonster131 Thank you both very much!
@RiverAndRun Thank you for the praise! I wonder if I should make it easier.
@Jofra thanks! Conveyance isn't my strong point.
@TakeNapEveryday thanks! Hard seems to be the consensus, apparently.
@Team Klapperman How did you know I got stuck :)? And also thanks a lot for the praise! I'm considering making it easier, because sometimes as a developer you forget hwo good you are at your own game!
Thanks, and yeah actually it is. I figured somebody would have a similar one, though I guess it's sort of reversed!
Thanks for the feedback, haha. Will take your subtle hints into consideration!
Thank you very much for the feedback! I was concerned your complaint would be an issue, if I had more time I wouldn't have just made it 'kill everyone', but more objective.
Thanks very much for the feedback again, I'll definitely revamp this!
Thanks a lot. Seems a few people had the possession idea.
@RockhopperGames thanks for your feedback! I will definitely try to implement a cone of vision feature for a post-compo version, and unftorunately I was aware of that particular bug.
If it's any consolation, the murderer is in the final level, as the game was initially just going to be only the 'survival' mode.
Thanks for playing!
@Druid Thank you very much for your praise. I know my visuals are worse than a burlap sack of turds.
~OadT Thank you for your honest and thoughtful feedback! I realize, ironically, that feedback is one of my weak points - the murderer is actually the boss, and it is just plain bad design due to time restraint that it takes so long for enemies to turn up. He was intended for survival mode initially, but I thought I'd end the few levels included there.
I will definitely add checkpoints and polish this game soon, taking in your feedback. Thank you!
@HotBoxGames Thank you very much for the praise. :D
Would love to make a post-comp version, some time soon!
I don't know why the appeal exists for Idle clickers, but that fact remains that it is appealing! Cute little idle clicker.
Gorgeous graphics, cute concept.
Nice sfx and the music was... interesting! However, it was a tad too easy for me, so it could make the completion of levels not very compelling as a result. Art style was quite charming.
Nice dialogue, sleek minimalistic graphics. Unfortunately, I felt this fell short in the gameplay aspect, as it became repettitive to sit there and wait for pain levels to be adequate. Nice concept, too!
Humourous context with an interesting premise - nice!
Web link doesn't work for me, unfortunately.
Kind of a cool goomba-murdering simulator, though I did sometimes get killed by being bounced.
You sure have a lot of ratings! I'm jealous of your skill! I felt a lot of Dark souls in this, it was visually stunning and had fluid controls. The gameplay was fun for a time, however, but to me soon became a tad repetitive.
Chrome does work (for now), if you right click it's complaint and click 'run this plugin' :)
With regards to the game, I loved it. Good thing my family are out of the house, because I really went all out. I like to think I was actually not the Mimic, but like his coach, so I would shout really loud encouragements!
Quite niche, but I really liked it.
Satisfying destruction engine! Some more stuff to destroy would be fun.
Enjoyed it! Nice balance of challenge and fairness, especially thanks to the 'S' key! Some sound would've been nice, but I can hardly talk. Overall it was nice.
One tiny thing is that you mention you have music on your 'info' page, and (super nitpicky) you misspell the url, haha.
Nice little text adventure. However, it seems so depressing for a game :( But I suppose to the themes effect that this is a good thing.
I like how missing the review session turns the test into the advanced test.
Incredibly fun amassing an army of skeletons and setting fire to houses!
4692! Probably horrendous! Cool, odd game that reminds me of a (good) Bubsy 3D
Really cool, innovative concept, with useful and humorous sound.
I'm afraid I can't rate this, but I will say that I really enjoyed it. The art is great, the gimmick fun to mess with and the levels clever (although I didn't get to finish all of them, nor did I get all of the gems!) there's a real nice balance between compelling gameplay and challenge. Good job!
To improve, there were a few bugs such as characters being teleported when only one portal was open, and some music would be nice.
Cute graphics, a tad too small to see without zooming in a whole bunch, but a nice MOBA-esque defend-them-up, which I like!
210 MB is quite a big ask for such a game, which is why I wouldn't use their assets, because it can be annoying to install the huge library.
Nice sokoban-esque game, though.
Something about swooping down and laying down rivers of fire over a village is really satisfying! I enjoyed this.
Hey, it's the annoying question asker from your stream.
Had a lot of fun, really liked watching the Hero get pummelled. First time, he did get stuck on a corner, but it worked fine besides that.
Music and graphics are nice, too.
Thanks for the time you spend making GM Tutorials, they really helped kickstart my time in GM, all those years ago :)
Is this just a clone of Snake? I can't tell :(
Nice, catchy music, though.
Enjoyable!
With a better theme (I realize it's a parody, haha) this could be quite fun. However, I found no real efficient way to handle large swathes of enemies, so I resorted to just spamming crosses on the final ladder till I lost.
As a side note, you probably have very few votes maybe due to low coolness level (that is, the amount of games you yourself have rated is very low) as the higher the coolness the better the visibility of your game.
Had my cat-loving sister dying to play it, enjoyed it thoroughly. Art style is charming.
Cute idea, very hard.
Insanely hard, might be because I'm a tad colourblind ^^.
Really innovative, challenging concept, cute implementation :)
Ah, love Cameltry-style games :)
This one is pretty solid for a 48-hr game, and I like the absorbing and splitting mechanic! Strange choice of control, though, haha.
The thing I would gripe about is that it might not the camera fast enough, or at least it doesn't react to the changes fast enough. Sometimes I found myself holding down rotate trying to get to the centre, but the guy would just 'orbit' it, haha.
Good, though, and nice art and music!
Great concept, very challenging! I like how you pretty much learn the pros and cons to each ship on the go.
Only niggle was that the only time I died was because the ball would approach a laser, and I had no time to get in between and kill the laser.
Great visuals, clever concept, entertaining. Music was nice too, but had an annoying bug on the Web version were it was only coming out of my right ear. Nice entry!
Very addictive and brutally difficult. Nice music, would be great if you added a difficulty curve by increasing the size of the holes, then decreased them for ever wall.
Had fun playing it on stream!
Great fun, lovely graphics and SO POLISHED! A great FPS game. Damn difficult, too!
Only criticism really is that I have no idea how this links to the theme.
@Cameronpenner Thank you haha.
@SkullPixel Wow, thanks a lot. High praise! Now I HAVE to check out yours :)
@Erdiizgi
Thank you for the praise. Not sure what you mean by the fist bit, but that's probably me being slow, haha. Thanks for playing.
@Bigbatardyt Thank you for playing it live - the whole stream was enjoyable :)
@Marjie62 thanks for the kind praise :)
@TinyHugger Thanks, I think!
@jcmonkey Thanks for playing it live, sorry I disappeared after you played it.
@ciw1973 Wow, thank you very much for the more detailed comment. I'm really glad you saw its strengths. I hope eventually to learn how to make it flash too :)
Thank you very much ALL for playing. I really appreciate all the kind words and suggestions.
Thank you those who came to my stream. Hopefully I'll return to it in a little while, around a half hour or so.
And @Studiosaurus... an HOUR?! Wow, that is the highest praise. The game caps off at a difficulty, so I have yet to see an impossible situation, but it definitely needs tweaking.
Thank you so much for playing.
I really appreciate taking the time to check it out so thoroughly, @Studiosaurus. Yes, actually, the way it was intended was for the Wizard to sweep across the screen, and what you saw there was a bug hitting you in the worst of ways - occasionally the wizard somehow flies past an x-ordinate limit I set on him, then flits back and forth between the edge and that limit. Definitely something I need to fix. Thank you for playing it, and I'm super glad you enjoyed it nonetheless.
A little clunky, and I was quite confused at first as to what was going on, but I really like the concept. Distracting enemies with my own shadow and pulling off little moves that would syngergise my shadow and normal form's movement felt badass, haha. I like it, though sometimes your cover was a bit harsh, so you ended up dying to a previous enemy while waiting for you shadow to move out the way.
Cool little toy. Some challenge would've been nice, but I am pretty impressed you made it in C#. I have no idea what MonoGame is, and now I'm curious :).
Maybe a simple time limit would make it a bit more interesiting?
Great atmosphere and fantastic implementation of a cool, addictive concept. Really nice.
Great concept, very sleek aesthetic. Nice!
Great twitchy arcade game that I am clearly the best at. Beat 198! Really great graphics. Nice job!
Played your game on stream. Really enjoyed it. Platforming collision is a tad buggy, but everything is made 100 times better with the humorous narration!
I always have a soft spot for randomly generated mechincs in games, so I like it.
The content was lacking, so it became a little repetitive fairly quickly. Perhaps a graphical element would make this easier, with a map that fills in.
I know the content is lacking, but I appreciate the algorithm itself, and that's why I like it.
Clever premise, little difficult to distinguish AND select marked targets, but besides that, excellent implementation.
Sorry for playing yours so late. Played it live on the Kappa_Barsavi Twitch channel.
Well made Bosses are a rare treat in the Ludum Dare! Great and insanely, insanely hard.
One of my favourite entries so far.
I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this, but I've said it over a dozen times to Unity devs - you don't need .pdb files included! Haha, they are DEBUG files that take up 138 MB!
As a physics student, I don't QUITE think that's how energy works. Surely, if you were to float at all, you'd have potential energy enough to float higher, therefore giving you MORE potential energy therefore, infinite floating, haha?
Regardless, it was a really interesting game that was gorgeous, fun, and atmospheric.
Nice little puzzle platformer with cute graphics and sound and nice atmosphere.
Cute graphics, nice animations, and a solid mechanic! Quite fun indeed!
Really great atmosphere, extremely tight and precise controls. It would've been nice if the different elements were a bit more cleverly unique rather than simply to open doors for the most part.
However, it was still a thoroughly relaxing entertaining game dripping with atmosphere. Nice!
You're one letter change away from making this a VERY different game, hahaha. May I suggest a change in name, perhaps to "Quadromancer"?
I was definitely surprised when I slammed my self into a wall, rendering myself into a ball of viscera and blood, haha, definitely elicited a chuckle. Nice!
This looks cool, please make the Windows build!
Great atmosphere. A little difficult to figure out where to get cash from, but great tone makes it worth it.
Hilarious and evil when you play with a single person. I'll review my rating and recomment once I have found/caught another person to play with.
404! :(
That was... surreal, haha. Very unique take on the theme.
Love the menu music, by the way.
Lovely little pachinko game. Nice simple use of shapeshift. Cute yet really nice art.
I like the music!
The concept is solid, too. I got misted a couple times without touching the mist, but by being close to it, which is a little frustrating (most notably on the second level), but it's a neat puzzle game.
Kappa has your back! Great concept, smooth animations, challenging in the later parts. Awesome!
Gorgeous graphics. I always enjoy a fun take on a roguelike. Wish there was more. :)
Thank you for playing mine on your stream. This is a pretty neat take on PacMan, and trying to land that last level was pretty addicting - I kept JUST hitting the last border, so it was satisfying to beat it.
Caught me completely off guard, funniest entry I've played yet, in any Ludum Dare! Great little stealth game with a really humorous premise.
I really like the star parallax in the background.
I'm not such a fan of the slightly discordant music, sorry, haha.
Sweet and simple! I think the vertical shift is a little too sensitive, personally, so I think there should be a short cool down to a shift, to prevent the occasional "scrolling" that I did, costing me several shifts both in the mistake, and in fixing.
Nice graphics, sweet and simple again, and a neat difficult curve.
You commented on my entry saying "You got me into this" Can I ask what you mean? I'm a little slow, haha. Maybe Tweet me @PolyrogueGames, if you would :)
This is a really cute, simple little game that's actually oddly satisfying to complete, even if I do suck at it, haha. The graphics are great, the levels are solid, and the whole implementation is pretty damn smooth. Froze at level 3 for a bit, but might've been my connection. Nice!
Neat concept! I like the difficulty scaling, but it does get a bit tedious after a while, and controlling it isn't easy.
It's still a neat concept, and I like the name! I don't know what constitutes for a good score, but I got 100 exactly :)
I can touch type.
Nice concept! Simple, yet pretty graphics! Music is a bit haunting, but overall, it's nice.
This would still be a solid game if I were told you spent months making it! It was, I think, a little too easy to become surrounded, but it's a solid game with an interesting take on the theme. Nice!
Really nice atmosphere which is rare for an infinite runner. The premise is fun and the gameplay addictive. A very solid entry.
Clearly, I am the best at it, seeing as everybody else was too ashamed to post their score. Beat 185!
Love the art style, very cute, and cannot fault a game with cheese.
Clues were a little too subtle, but I'm sure that is fixed in the post-jam version. Thanks for coming along to the stream.
Sorry for skipping part of the puzzle haha, really great mechanics, puzzles, graphics, and music. Burn the witch!
Love the concept, mostly solid implementation, I think this would go great with a narrative context :)!
Played it on stream.
It's near unplayable due to lag but I love the concept.
Camera might need a little work, but for an LD game, this is great, and I really liked it. The songs were brilliant, the algorithm was super cool, and definitely evoked a very "Audiosurf" vibe. Great job!
You do not need to include .pdb files with your project! They are debug files for the devs only! Also, it's "Lose" not "Loose" :)
Niggles aside, I really like it! It's a bit too easy, I think. I didn't fail, just wore on me. I think you're given too much time in the freeze mode. I think as you approach it, you're shown a preview of the hole's shape, then as you approach it, you're given a very short timestop just to fix any small erros.
Fun! Reminds me heavily of "Hole in the Wall" - a British gameshow, haha.
I adore the concept, and with more polish and more interesting, possibly darker context, this could be a great game.
Personally, I envision a magical Assassin with his own agenda to keep the war going until everybody is dead. So he shapeshifts, changing "sides" constantly, then backstabbing those who thought he was a comrade.
All while ensuring that there is no clear victor but him.
Very polished! You could easily release this as a mobile app and sell it. The puzzles were just tricky enough, though I couldn't beat 8. Sorry you couldn't make it to the stream, but you can watch the VOD.
An interesting concept and nice narrative experience, but I think some more tiles and sound would have added to it, and perhaps making the beacons disappear when you've opened them.
Quite nice little cute arena murder-them-up. The Gas-can is a little bit overpowered, I think.
Sounds and/or music would've been great, and it would be nice if you could move faster, but what you have made is pretty nice. Good job!
By far the best aesthetics of any entry I've played yet. Cute animations too. The text scroll was a bit too slow, and the controls were a little janky, but great job.
Brutal difficulty. That's two parts of your game you share with Dark Souls, hahaha. I would reccommend adding a restart button, because relaunching the game is frustrating when you die so easily.
Nice art, and fine mechanics. I'd like to see this game remade and completed, and that's what the Ludum Dare is here to inspire!
The concept is nice and so is the presentation. It's only let down by the slightly glitchy controls, and by the inconsistent/confusing hitboxes of hazards. I don't know what is a hazard, and (for example, the sword at the beginning), some hazards kill you just for being near them.
But, quite nice nonetheless. Good job, I'll keep trying to beat it.
Usually, I hate the CRT-effect, but this worked super well. Lovely intro, and general aesthetic. Music was OTT and crazy.
Controls and and animation were a little janky.
Overall, quite impressive!
Solid, fairly polished entry! Not wholly unique, and there wasn't much usage of the theme aside from the skin, and a little too easy, but nice aesthetic.
Agree with everybody else, but I got lost a lot, so I couldn't finish it. I'll try again soon!
@Geared Games Thank you! It means a lot to us.
@Pikas96 Thanks for the praise! I spent ages trying to iron out that bug, but didn't manage to sort it, haha.
@Iseeicy OH WOW. It's supposed to do that, and I totally forgot to uncomment that code. Fixed! Thanks!
@2011petia Thank you! I'm sure Technicolour is flattered.
@DaGamesta, Thank you. You've no idea what code keeps this game in check haha. It has all the mechanics for an exploration game about hunting down torches to light in a dungeon, we just ran out of time to make the dungeon!
@Xinelu Thanks!
@ciaodavinci @NikSorvari @JoJox thank you! You guys should know that the game doesn't end at wave six. If you wait till your the door closes and resets instead of pressing E, your Light refills automatically and wave 7 begins, even harder. Continues like this till either you cash in (every six waves) or you die!
@juaxix thank you! I love Towerfall, so it's a flattering comparison.
@kyyninen thanks! However! Did you bail out at the first opportunity? I myself have never made it past wave 13, and the first opportunity to leave with your points is Wave six!
Trust me, wave 7 onwards is haaard.
@Vaiaphraim D'oh! Forgot to mention that's possible, albeit being slightly tempermental. You can press "S" to drop. Thank you for the praise!
@SuperPikeunicorn Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. You're right. For some reason, I forgot to test for this bug. Sometimes, and I still don't entirely know why, it simply didn't work, haha. Thanks again!
@SkullPixel Thank you! I totally need to check out your entry! Sorry again for the mix up. We gotta collab next LD!
@Ghen perhaps you don't use a keyboard I'm familiar with? WASD is an industry standard control scheme :) but thank you very much for playing!
@Ghen fair enough haha, but I'm sure it would also be awkward to move with the arrow keys yet aim with the mouse ;) thanks for playing!
@PanicTheFirst thank you! I appreciate it, and I'm sure Technicolour does too.
@Drury thanks! Yeah I know, the bug is the fruit of lack of time, after the fact :P
Thanks for the praise, glad you enjoyed it!
@Madsj thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately the game wasn't meant to be a wave-based survival, but a relatively tense-yet-slowish exploration game, so the mechanics you see are there for that reason.
The slow weapon is there for the same reason as why it takes a second to fire up your whip in the original Castlevania - it makes you think your shots through even more - spamming isn't an option that way :)
But yes, I should probably accelerate the wave progression.
Really like the super-low resolution aesthetic, and the textures meld well. The crossbow is fun to use, and strafe jumping is 3hard5me.
Super solid entry!
Thanks for hanging out on the stream! I had a great time playing it.
The concept is clever, makes for a pretty addictive and tense experience. I also really like the art and cable physics. Great job!
Glad to see you made/are making the post-jam version.
A perfect game, really. I wish I'd had the time to be involved in it! Beautifully done, Jim. Nice job.
So polished!
@Skullpixel as do I! Oh, and my pathetically low high score was 5. Gotta keep playing this!
Thanks for hanging out in the stream! Really nice metroid-esque game that you saw I sucked at. The art and animations were nice, aas was the ambient music.
I would improve the control you have over the aim, and perhaps don't let enemies aggro you when they're not in the room!
But otherwise, really solid entry. Great job!
Lovely atmosphere, and I ADORE the parallax stars. Best
part of the game. Had to look up to make sure the 2600 could handle Parallax, and it could so well done. More variety is my only qualm. Great!
Very complete! Nice consistent graphics, good interpretation of the theme, and a very tense an atmosphere. Good job!
Brutal! Visuals were spot on, love the low poly and the accompanying animations. To improve, I would suggest just making the controls a bit more manage-able, for example by making the dudes easier to select.
Really nice.
Man, this game ended up far more complete an experience than I thought. The first level disarmed me somewhat, because then I had a hard time making any more progress! I really like the boss at the end, too.
Insanely hard for me, so I'll probably have to go back. Very nice music too. I like the first track best.
Aesthetic was spot on, difficulty was out of this world, design was clever, music was great, what more could you want?
Absolutely adore the art style, quite an amusing concept and interpretation of the theme, very cute. Now I just need more levels and to get that world record!
I like the simple mechanics, they make for some quite challenging gameplay. The sound effects are quite amusing as well.
It seems to me that the turret doesn't fire straight, but that's probably my brain.
Overall, nice concept, good humour and quite addicting, though I couldn't get any score higher than 30. Nice job!
Beautiful game, not sure how to do or how to go about doing it, but it was a nice experience. Managed to get up to the three interlocking twisty-shaped shape.
Pretty! Was a little confused as to my purpose, but I don't really play games like this so that's probably my fault. Nice!
Nice idea! Got a high score of 8600. Low poly graphics were beautiful. I found I got survive for a really long time by just always having one mirror selected, and just putting my mouse cursor on the ship till it sank. To remedy this, I suggest playing with the positioning/quanitity of mirrors, and to perhaps have more "shielded" ships. Played it on stream, please watch the VOD if you like! Good job.
I don't know why you sold it so short, I really liked it! Although the mechanics don't make sense in a realistic regard, it makes for some pretty interesting gameplay. And of course, art/atmosphhere is brilliant.
Thanks a lot for streaming! Great game!
Very cool! A lot of substantial mechanics and it feels very polished. Sound and music would wonders on this. Please add to it!
Cool target practice game. Salute from one CMDR to another!
Great concept, loved the 2.5D graphics, good tension! Sound would have really improved the atmosphere.
@Zeriver Thank you very much for your comment and praise! You nailed our intention right on the head. And thank you to everybody else for the remarks and praise. We are taking it all to heart.
JorgeGameDev thank you very much for your indepth feedback AND for booting the artist out of 1st! Hahah.
And @DevForPizza I discovered this recently, sadly I can't fix it because LD rules, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for my post-LD version, thank you. For now, I will simply delete one of your entries.
Fantastic aesthetic, reminded me greatly of the likes of Voodoo Vince and Psychonauts. Unique twist on a memory game, and lovely 3D models. Solid entry.
Incredible atmosphere! Very ominous, and the whole thing had a very dark vibe to it. I like how the experimenter started off by comparing you to a mouse, but then just eventually just called you mouse entirely.
The "he's doing the vocalisation test" thing was very clever.
The cryptic instructions could have been a little LESS cryptic, haha, but I enjoyed having to figure out what to do. Sorry I was a bit slow! Adding some narrative and a few more puzzles could make this pretty neat and tight! Nice entry, thanks for submitting!
Interesting idea, love the physics collisions, which were spot on.
However, the game felt... cold? Like a German simulator, it felt almost depressing as you tirelessly and endlessly go back and forth between conveyor belts, never interacting with another human being, the only chatter being that of either the motors in the conveyor, or the cold and emotionless instructions relayed by the robot voice, the lack of music adds to this, haha.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Crazily exponential difficulty curve! Really liked it, perfect score up until the fourth day, where I was pummelled into oblivion.
Perhaps balance that a bit more, and add some more ameneties, but other than that, great job! Loved the little voice bites, too.
Fantastic aesthetic, lighting and neon effects were very well executed. The goal after the lights turn red is a bit of a mystery to me. If it is to kill everyone, I think that might be askign a bit too much, as the combat system is a bit janky and makes it very difficult to kill anybody.
A very ambitious entry, and a very nice idea. I would polish this into an actual game to realise its potential.
By far the most fun entry I've played so far, excellent execution of a good concept. I love the room changing mechanic (which is a tad unforgiving at times!) and the art and music was very solidly done. You don't need me to tell you that you need to make full version of this.
The mechanics are there! I think one major flaw is that structures are destroyed instantly. This makes it too hard. I would recommend turning this into a playable game, and you'd have something rather nice! I like the animations.
