LD33 — You are the Monster

Bad Boss by NebulaOrbit 2015-08-24T11:39:00

Quite nice! The idea was cool, however it was a tad confusing and the controls could have been better. It has quite a bit of charm, though and the graphics had quite a bit of style. Overall, pretty good.

U no take Loot! by Orni 2015-08-26T16:33:00

I like the take on the theme. It is a nice cute spin on the dungeon crawler genre. The graphics music and sounds were simple and worked well. The controls were fluid and the mechanics were solid. It was fun to play. My main issue is: the ranged enemies' arrows were hard to see due to how small they were and how similar they were in color to the floor tiles. Other than that, a solid fun entry (if not a little on the easy side).

The Admin Of The Dungeon -In a MMORPG- by Datamosh 2015-08-29T17:56:00

The visuals were nice and oldschool and so was the music. The idea was quite innovative and at first I didn't get what I was supposed to do but then I realized it's all in the order you activate the traps. Overall, a very polished entry that has quite a bit more depth in its mechanics than most other LD games I have seen.

Fear Syndicate Thesis by Deconstructeam 2015-09-08T20:58:00

The idea for this was fantastic! I love the post-apocaliptic atmosphere and I was especially intrigued by the camera tricks. I might even implement them in some of my future projects, so great job! The gameplay was fun and a nice base for a great game! The story was nice and the trippy-ness was quite well done. A few issues, though. I repeatedly got stuck on the building. It was very annoying as I had to restart. The other thing is that the girls seamed to have the same voice as the guys. Other than that, fantastic entry!

Escape From Twump Tower by 01010111 2015-09-13T19:56:00

The graphics and music were very very charming. The idea was clever and quite relevant to today's times. It was quite amusing to see Not-Trump TRUMP on some peoples' heads. The only issue I found was that the controls would often get stuck. So if I was moving right it would get stuck moving right, etc. Might be an issue on my end, though.

Sewer Monster City by bitslap 2015-08-28T17:48:00

This is one good looking/sounding game. The graphics are fantastic and so is the music. The controls were quite good but took some getting used to. The slippery nature gave quite a bit of weight to the character, however, I felt with how percise the platforming got, this did more bad than good. Other than that, a great oldschool entry!

Up & Away! by bytegrove 2015-08-24T15:11:00

As one of the only few 3D platformer entries I have seen, this one is quite nice. The graphics are well done and remind me of old PS1 style platfromers - nice and colorful. The controls were good and responsive but I hate the fact that you cannot turn to face a particular direction without taking a step in that direction. It just makes the whole thing feel slippery. The camera also needed some work. a free camera would have been much better than the fixed one you have since it made me do leaps of faith with no clue where I am going. Other than that, for a game made in such a short amount of time, this felt cool.

Unwelcome Presence by Hemuuuli 2015-08-24T22:36:00

For a game made in such a small period of time this entry is just breathtaking. The amount of detail in the presentation that was achieved is incredible. The graphics are very well done and the black and white work so well to create a beautiful game. The ambiant music and sounds really add to the creepy atmosphere this game has. The gameplay is also fun with controls and mechanics you'd expect from a AAA title, not a LD entry. They are obviously not as polished as everything feels a little clunky but they're still impressive. Overall, an impressive and good entry!

(You are the) monster gaiden by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2015-08-26T18:29:00

The graphics and music were extremely charming. So was the game as a whole. The gameplay was pretty much non-existant but it is the most well made fluffy monster sim with pointless stats out there so 10/10.

The Red Planet by Zccc 2015-08-28T11:07:00

Lovely retro shooter aesthetic! The sounds were simple, but worked and the story telling was quite well done. My one and only issue is the controls. For me at least, keyboard only FPS just don't work very well. I think I would have liked it a ton more if it had more standart FPS controls with a mouse. That said, this is my personal preference and people might disagree. It doesn't take away from the polish this entry had~

The Werewolf Among Others by arzi 2015-08-28T16:16:00

Ahaha! I love the little nod to The Wolf Among Us with the title. Other than that, solid, good looking/sounding and challenging game!

Takodemon by Split82 2015-08-24T10:55:00

This was a good entry! I loved the graphics. Simple yet effective. The audio was also great and added so much to the excellent atmosphere. The implementation of the theme was quite creative with you literally controlling a M-O-N-S-T-E-R.
However, that is a double edged sword as those lettershave almost no relation to one another which made for really akward control. Overall, a good entry cut just a little short by the theme.

Super Chop by savethejets1 2015-08-26T17:14:00

First of all, I love the take on the theme. It is so unusual, yet works very well. The graphics and sound were good and it does exactly what a good LD entry is supposed to: make one simple mechanic and run with it. It's a very well made entry!

Trullskoll by charliecarlo 2015-08-25T14:21:00

For a 48h game this is very well made. The simple two palette art works great, the sound effects are nice. The controls are responsive and the mechanics are well thought out. Overall, a great entry!

Separated by rxi 2015-08-29T14:48:00

The presentation was fantastic for selling the theme of being the misunderstood lonely monster. From the well made character sprite that captures the emotion of the game perfectly, to the lovely graphics, lighting and music it all sets the atmosphere very well. Other than that, I didn't see much to do outside of soaking in the environment and emotion. That's my one issue with it, other than that - lovely entry!

Klonos by Azlen 2015-08-24T21:04:00

The graphics and sound were nice and simple. The gameplay was fun and the bosses added some much needed variety. Overall, a cool entry!

Micromancer by radmars 2015-09-07T20:58:00

The idea was fantastic! Not much necromancy seen in LD entries. The art and music were outstanding and I especially loved the strategy of limiting the minions at the start introduced. It's all about what order you kill people in. I loved it!

Lil' Drake by bombjack 2015-09-09T10:44:00

The game had a very charming 8-bit aesthetic! I loved it! I also thought that the simplicity of the game mechanics was a great idea! It kept things approachable, yet challenging. It was quite difficult as per NES standard but it never felt impossible which is a sign of great design. I did miss some audio, though. It's understandable however. Overall, fantastic entry!

From SLIME to KING by Druid 2015-08-26T15:35:00

One of the more polished entries out there. The idea is nice and the implementation is also good. I like the variety the random dungeon layouts bring and also the randmoness of the slimes is a very nice touch. I love the triple jump as a way to navigate the random levels witout overcomplicating the algorythm for them. The graphics were very well done and so was the music. The only issue I have is that the compat is quite akward but then again that might be just me not getting it. Overall, very solid entry.

There are Tourists in my Castle by Solifuge 2015-09-14T15:30:00

I loved it! It had so much charm, especially with how bouncy everyone's running animations were. They fit well with the already great music. The mechanics were simple, but felt engaging and the story and humour was nice. Overall, one of the best this LD!

Moon Base Shootout by Unept 2015-09-03T21:26:00

The controls were smooth and the mechanics are solid. I particularly enjoyed the vacuum idea. I feel if that part was expanded upon and this was more of a puzzler it would have been all the better. The story was nice and the graphics were simple yet worked so well. I enjoyed the little touches such as shells on the ground and the fact the only really colors were the enemies. Speaking of the enemies, I think some of them bugged out as I was unable to kill them. Other than that, this was a very solid entry!

The Monster Files by Literal Games 2015-09-04T21:54:00

I really like the narritive, music and graphics. Point and clicks as a genre rely majorly on content and having lots of it so I don't think it's the best choic for a jam. That said, with the limited amount of time what you managed to create was impressive and well done. The fighting mechanics were quite clunky but that's understandable. Overall, great entry!

Monster in the House by Jani Nykänen 2015-08-24T12:41:00

Nice little arcade game. I think the take on the theme is the most morbid I have seen so far. The raphics also fit and add to that, as well as the music. The game is quite difficult but also rewarding. Overall, a good entry!

Mobs, Inc. by Pietro Ferrantelli 2015-09-07T20:34:00

The presentation was outstanding. I loved the way the pixel art looked and this was very polished in terms of screen shake and effects and everything really. The upgrades all worked very well and the combat while simple at first was surprisingly engaging and challenging. I loved the take on the theme and overall loved the entry. Only thing that needed some polish is some more feedback when the player is hit as I found I very easily lost track of when I was getting hurt. I did play without sound so it might have been the issue for me.

Intergalactic Love Machine by Slothmachine 2015-09-11T19:03:00

This was a well made simple game with a great presentation. I would say more depth but it's already good as it is so great work!

Monster Break Out by careless 2015-09-09T15:52:00

I loved the look of this! Very dark and cold much like a prison actually would feel. The setting also made up for the lack of music as the graphics and sound effects were more than enough to get the atmosphere across, especially with such good lighting. The story was interesting although the ending was a little forced. Either being more subtle or being more blunt would have made it better(example: Having a snipper from a paper saying: "Convicted serial killer now on the loose!" or something like that). I did find some bugs. Rolling seemed to get me stuck inside of walls quite easily. Other than that, I would say keep working and adding things and this could turn into a fantastic mix of platforming and point and clicks. I like it a lot as is already!

The Troll's Toll by baykush_figtree 2015-08-24T14:29:00

I liked this entry a lot. The aesthetic was charming and the fairy tale like narration was a good contrast to the twist ending. Speaking of which, why would you have the first screenshot be your game's ending. Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot but still. I was sort of spoilt. Anyway, the actual RPG mechanics were okay, however, I feel like there were two issues. The lack of sound effects and the fact that anything less than the most gentle of taps on my arrow keys seemed to shoot the selection off by like 3 squares. Other than that I feel this was one of the more creative and well executed entries of LD.

Hell Court by chuckeles 2015-08-29T18:16:00

The idea was very creative and the execution was quite good. I feel like a more fun way of actually punishing people would have been better. That said, I didn't make it far but what I did play was very creative and well made. Overall, good entry!

Corruption-5 by hexagore 2015-08-26T18:52:00

Let's start with the graphics. They were very simple pixel art much like most Ludum Dare entries out there. That said, they were well done and what helped them stand out a ton ware the screen effects and lighting. That and the creepy ambient music and sound effects made this a very interesting narritive especially considering how short it is. This is definitely the best and most touching narritive experience I have had this LD. Other than that, the gameplay was simple and to the point and everything else felt very well put together and polished. Overall, a great entry!

Stealth Yeti by cottontrek 2015-08-30T16:19:00

This game was very well made! The visuals were very well done. Not only were they pretty but also had some thought put in them beyond that. The choice of color as orange for the levels was easy on the eyes but also allowed for the Yeti's cooler colors to stand out. The sound was rather simplistic but it was functional. The choice of monster was quite original and the game was pretty difficult(couldn't get past the second level. Overall, a great entry!

Death of a Lich by managore 2015-09-14T11:20:00

This game is a looker! I loved the art style and just the general polish of everything! I was particularly impressed with the fire particles. Spectacular! The game had a great atmosphere to it, too, despite the lack of music. The mechanics were very unique but I feel a way to attack without getting hurt would have been cool. Then again, the theme is that you want to end your suffering via death so I guess it's fitting.

Lady Bug by dickpoelen 2015-09-14T19:15:00

This was stellar! I loved the simplicity and despite it it was really engaging and having a good run in a level feels so amazing. It also looks and sounds great, too. It's hard as hell, though. I'd say that's the main fault with it. I tcould have stood to be a little more forgiving. Other than that, fantastic!

The Net by Rasmus Dyhr Larsen 2015-08-24T12:01:00

The graphics and mood fit the hacking thing you had going. However, it did not fit the theme at all. Nothing in the game implied being a monster, or heck, even being remotely related to one. Also I could not figure out the controls. They seemed unreliable as I kept missing the shooting even when aimed.

Fairycula by dusho 2015-08-24T16:55:00

I like the idea of the character xD The game was nice, but the infinitely spawning enemies and the lack of animation dragged it down a bit IMO.

MISHMASH by bodsey 2015-08-24T10:34:00

Fist thing that caught my eye was the graphics. The simple, yet adorable artstyle was perfect for the competion. The audio was also great as the music was ambient and fit the environment. However, the game felt unfinished due to things like the cursor being a black box, for example. The gameplay also felt a bit unbalanced as the randomization often screwed me over (the worst case being stuck with no planets on screen and dying due to not being able to move). Overall a decent game, with an awesome presentation.

Terabyte by Knighty 2015-09-03T08:22:00

This in my opinion is a perfect example of a great game that was unfortunately plagued by the time limit. The graphics which were finished were fantastic and I especially love the palette on the main character. The mechanis had thought put into them and I liked the concepts. My main criticism is the fact it was not really finished and it showed. Placeholder enemies and such. I won't really be harsh on unfinished work, however. My only issue with the finished parts was the control scheme. For a PC I feel a mouse controled top down shooter 9 times out of 10 works better. That's my only gripe. Other than that, this has a lot of potential if it is completed!

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-26T18:08:00

This was the most oddly satisfying game I have played this LD. The graphics were sleek and the audio was good. Not sure if it fit the theme as it was stretching the term monster quite a lot. The gameplay was fun and simple, though so I don't mind. Overall, a really solid entry!

A Heart between Parts by LeafThief 2015-08-26T17:02:00

Another very solid entry! I feel the art, music, writing and overall atmosphere kept it together the most as they were outstanding. The gameplay was by no means bad, it was simple, but effective. Overall, a really solid entry that maybe could have stood to be a touch longer. But being left wanting more is definitely a good sign of the game's quality~

Consume by Rocketship 2015-08-24T22:40:00

As a mood piece it works quite well~

Player Rush by Hot Box Games 2015-09-07T17:39:00

The presentation was fantastic as both the music and graphics were well made. I especially like the old TV sort of effect the whole game had. The voices were amusing mostly due to how generic they sounded xD The gameplay was simple and to the point however I felt it was overly simplistic. One attack just wasn't enough to hold my interest for all too long. That said, this is impressively well made and I congratulate you on a great entry!

Grave by uheartbeast 2015-08-24T12:53:00

This was one of the few LD entries I can say was really solidly built. I had no issue with the controls in any way. The combat felt fun and responsive and the delay the inputs had was delibarate and made for a much deeper combat system. The graphics were stellar and the atmosphere was on point. Overall, a awesome entry that felt very polished.

Inokan by gillenew 2015-09-02T18:24:00

The graphics were delightful and the atmosphere of the underwater setting worked well, in my opinion. The music was some classic hard rock to get you pumped. The gameplay was simple, but functional. I like the game overall, but I feel some things could have been done better. Mostly the combat. The enemies being semi-transparent was a cool visual choice but I feel threats in your game should be the most noticable visual elements so you can avoid them better. The second issue is the way the enemies spawned. Often I would find myself getting blind-sided by them since they were so abundant and spawned so close to me. The final problem I have is the fact that without any limit on the magic attack the melee is sort of useless. That said, just a bit of constructive feedback. Take it or leave it, I still think this was a good entry~

Was It Something I Said? by ShaunJS 2015-09-14T17:47:00

Fantastic entry! I loved the take on the theme. The monster was adorable it its clumsy-ness. I loved the music, it fit so well. The graphics had a charm to them, even though they were not traditionally impressive(not saying they were bad). I also loved the little touches. The "make friends" button's only purpose was to pick up food crates and rocks. It's like the only thing that understands him are inanimate objects and food. A thing that I feel many depressed people might think. I did find the ending I got(I assume there was more than one) interesting. It took more effort than just going on and pushing forward but was also happy. It shows in a way that if a person tries hard enough they can climb out of depression no matter how down they may feel. That might be me digging too much into it, however. Great entry!

Ancient Storm: Legends of the League of Defence Heroes 2 by 3CGames 2015-08-24T10:43:00

This game was quite interesting. The graphics had that coder graphics charm. The audio was simple but maybe a bit too much. The music could have benefitted from being a little longer and more SFXs would have helped. The chat was quite amusing and the mood you set was cool. However, I did not see the theme shine through besides the fact you're controlling a monster. Overall, a cool little game that just lacks some polish.

Monster Disco by Four Quarters 2015-08-30T16:33:00

The game's visuals are phenomenal and the music is as well. The take on the theme was very inventive and the gameplay was cool. I think a sort of tutorial on the game's mechanics would have been useful. That's really the only issue I have, other than that - brilliant entry!

Ollie's Journey by brombatti 2015-08-25T09:20:00

I have to say this is one of the most functional and leanghty entries of this Ludum Dare. The graphics are nice and work very well and the music is awesome. Made even more awesome by the fact that almost each area has its own piece of music. The controls are nice and fluid and the level design, besides being a tad on the simple side worked. It lacked some polish though. Minor bugs can be found here and there but for a game made in such a short time that is understandable. However, I also encountered some more major bugs such as the E key bugging out and not registering and being knocked inside a wall by an enemy and falling into oblivion with the only option being a restart. Other than that, a very solid entry!

R-ADIUS by MrTwister 2015-09-14T10:42:00

The game looked very nice. The music was very repetitive, however. Understandable, though. I really like the concept. The AI for the ship was very clever and the delay on the attacks forced you to have quite a bit of strategy and timing. I do feel that the minions felt useless, since I never managed to hit the ship with them. Other than that, good entry!

The Devil's Daughter by SinclairStrange 2015-08-25T11:54:00

Best entry of Ludum Dare I've seen so far! The amount of content (and extremely well made content I might add) is astonishing. The art style is perfect for the sort of game this is and it looks great, too. The music is well made and oldschool and the gameplay is not the most innovative idea ever but it's polished almost to perfection. It's also funny and has a charm to it that few LD games have. Overall, as I said, best entry I have seen so far! Only problem is the fact you jump with W. I really wished there was a dedicated button for it.

The Jig Is Up by Odefus 2015-08-24T11:49:00

A cool little idea. The graphics were simple and effective. The movement was smooth and I like the message you get when you die :D:D:D

Some Knights Left by farwyler 2015-09-14T19:03:00

This game was very charming! I loved the sound of it, it was extremely satifying and cute at times. The gameplay was simple, but functional and I simply loved the way the little guy before the waves was implemented. Stellar entry!

Lair of the Scare by RockhopperGames 2015-08-24T13:13:00

This game had tons of personality. The character is simple yet works so well. A gentleman monster. That's just brilliant. And it's not just a story element either, it's gamplay one too, since you don't actually kill anyone but just scare them as you don't believe in violence. It gets even better when you realise the louder your scream is the more scary it is. And that reflects in the sound design as well since your scream goes from a skreech to a cute roar to a monster-like roar. Other than that the gameplay is functional and the graphics have lots of charm to them. Overall, a good entry that put me in a good mood.

The Bear Hunter by Devark 2015-08-29T14:57:00

The graphics were well made but I did suffer some screen distortion sometimes. It was very minor though and the game still looked great. The piano melody was strong and was a nice mood piece but I felt it was just a touch too short and a touch too pronounced to be just a atmospheric track. The gameplay was simple and to the point and the story was well told and was a nice twist on fairy tale, RPG like narritives. Overall, a very solid entry with a few flaws that are understandable with the short time period!

Cursed Monster Baby by vlamaster 2015-08-24T14:57:00

The graphics were nice and worked well. As more of a proof of concept I think it was quite well made. The curse/bonus system was cool and the randomly generated dungeon crawling game is a nice idea. I had a bit of issue with the controls as they felt slippery, yet slow. Other than that a nice entry.

Elven Blood by nihilaleph 2015-09-07T21:04:00

I liked the idea of this a whole bunch and the mood was well done with the music being sinister and the darkness being played up! The stealth aspect was simple but worked well. The controls felt quite clunky but delibarately so - you are a small child after all! I feel this entry would have worked even better with some more time to polish things up but I can say that for almost every entry, including my own. Overall, good job on this!

Do You Understand ? by qkerguelen 2015-08-24T14:14:00

The game was neat! I like the music and presentation, very much oldschool which fit with the theme of making these enemies that for some of have been programmed since a young age to think are bad seem like victims. The controls were nothing special, but felt responsive and functional on a keyboard. The twist on the theme was quite creative and I like how it was short and I was able to finish it which is not something I can say about a lot of entries. It took me some time to understand(no pun intended) but when I did I was satisfied with this short and neat game. I like it!

Unfriendly village by krzymsky 2015-08-24T18:38:00

Excellent graphics style that reminded me of Binding of Isaac. The sound effects were also nice and the music added to the atmosphere. The theme was well done and had a nice twist of something nice being turned into a monster. It was also fun to play. So overall, a great entry!

The Old One by Chris Olsen 2015-09-14T11:25:00

Gorgeous game! The concept was fantastic as well. It really had a sense of scale with the humans being so small and the attacks being delayed. Good job!

Project Jumpius by kirilllosev 2015-08-26T16:45:00

The main mechanic is simple yet works very well. The idea of smashing things around is very fun. The audio-visual presentation is also good although simplistic. The monster was not the most original design but the gameplay was the main focus. I feel a game that was a little more leniant would have been more fun. But overall, great entry!

Lardum by Grahhhhh 2015-09-03T08:33:00

When I fisrt saw this, I wasn't going in with high expectations, to be honest. I was completely proven wrong, as soon as I opened the game. This might not be the most complex, or length-y or pretty game LD has to offer but it has tonnes of charm which I often find sticks with players much longer than any great pixel art. As soon as I checked out the tutorial I knew this game was going to be something else and I enjoyed it as a whole. It was funny, joked around with RPG and fairy tale tropes well and the voice acting was nice and really added a lot, especially for the monster. Overall, I feel this is one of the most charming and memorable entries I have seen so far!

Investigator and the Case of the Red Herring by constancecchen 2015-08-29T17:48:00

The graphics style was awesome and quite original for the jam as we don't see that many games that aren't pixel-y in their aesthetic. The story was well made and kept me interested throughout. The writing was very solid and I had no issue with it. I loved the characters' destinct personalities and their names especially xD The music worked well to set the atmosphere. If I had a few things to say in terms of criticism would be potentially some sound effects and there being more of a game to this. It was more of a visual novel, which would have been fine, but you include the whole clues tab and everything but we never really get to use it. I understand time limitations but I still felt the need to address that. Other then those two things, it was a well written, interesting and lenghty entry with loads of charm!

Sweet Mom by Grhyll 2015-08-24T14:46:00

At first I was like: "Dafuq is this? Like, a crappy Game Maker game someone made in 10 minutes with collision detection worse than the climate on Uranus?". But then...I figured out it was actually quite funny and pretty interesting. Not to mention actually well made from a technical standpoint. And the graphics have a charm to them, too. "A game where you murder your children 10/10"-IGN

StoneWalker by Jamie Guillemette 2015-08-24T15:44:00

I like it!

Pirate Snail by Sir Spiderlot 2015-08-24T12:30:00

A fun little idea. I liked the character and the art style was also quite good. The movement felt more like I was controlling a race car rather than a snail (ironic as that may sound). The combat could have benefited from some sound effects and maybe some animation. The take on the theme, despite being creative, was a little unfitting. Overall, and okay entry that lacked some polish.

The Supper by jrhee 2015-09-04T18:49:00

The mood was fantastic and the take on the theme was creative. It was quite a fun game as well but much like other LD entries(including mine), I feel a tutorial would have helped~ Other than that, great entry!

I am Death and Fire by derr 2015-08-26T17:58:00

Great art and sound design that set a mood that works amazingly well for being a dragon with a lust of death and destruction. The gameplay was also nice, but simple. I feel a few things would have improved it. First of all, a way to regain health. No matter how skilled you are, you will die. I feel for this sort of game where you're a badass dragon it would have worked best with a way to last longer based on skill. Second, I think some more feedback for the player would have been awesome. Especially when you're taking down the buildings and the balloons. Despite those little pieces of constructive criticism, this was a great entry!

server INFLICTION by krasus 2015-08-24T12:47:00

Not sure how much of a take on the theme this is. Not very traditional but quite morbid for sure. The game isn't much of a game but it's very good looking and sounding. Especially the elevator music. Overall a decent entry.

Werewolf Quest by Yrr 2015-09-02T21:17:00

This was a fantastic entry! So good in fact I would say it makes my top 5, if not top 3. The concept was simple but well executed. The graphics had a retro charm to them and even the slight blur(which I would usually find unprofessional with pixel games) somehow worked, so props on that! The sounds were nice and meaty and the lack of music didn't really bother me. The mechanics were solid and I found pretty much no bugs. The game was challenging and fun, although that one switch part is a little annoying so glad to know you got it fixed. Overall, a simple but very well executed entry! One of the best I have come across so far~

40 and still a Zombie by kmiitz 2015-09-09T18:02:00

I liked this a lot! The concept was very original and the presentation was great both in the music and art department! The gameplay was simple and to the point yet managed to be challenging at the same time. I only found the relaxing section's controls very clunky but that was probably the point. That said, fantastic entry!

Drack's Mansion by pirate_shell 2015-08-24T12:06:00

Thank you so much for the feedback people. A tutorial would have been great, I agree, however, I simply did not have the time for it since I pretty much wasted my first day on a failed idea. Best I could do is list the controls under the info section on the main menu ^^'

Drack's Mansion by pirate_shell 2015-08-24T13:27:00

@Sir Spiderlot Thank you! Next entry I make will definitely spend more time teaching the player things. As far as the direction, the player faces the mouse, not where he's moving to. It's a simple mistake to make, though ^^' Thanks for the feedback~

Drack's Mansion by pirate_shell 2015-09-06T23:01:00

@Grahhhhh Hmm... I am not sure what might be causing that, really. The game doesn't alter the mouse movement and sensitivity in any way as far as I am aware so it might just be an issue on your end :/

Aliensche! by HiVE interactive 2015-09-09T14:53:00

The graphics were very simple but worked well and the music was extremly fitting for this fast paced game. I love the concept of stealing cows and I found the idea of a twist on the grabber machine but with aliens very amusing. It was fun, simple and well presented. Great entry!

Alice & August: A Love Story by nic 2015-09-14T10:31:00

I like the mood of it a lot! I think the lack of animation in the game as a whole was a very nice choice as walking down a huge hallway felt quite unsettling. The story seemed compelling and as a mood piece it felt great. Unlike some of the other commentors I didn't mind the walking speed or the long hallways, I just wished it was a more liniar piece. I also thought the movement was quite clunky as sometiems he would akwardly stop for what seemed to be no reason. The friction he had also didn't feel very smooth. Those are nitpicks, however. I loved it as a mood piece! The music was nice and atmospheric too!

Almost Heroic by xvw 2015-09-14T10:10:00

This was a great oldschool style RPG! I love the graphics, as they feel like a natural modernization of stuff like the old Pokemon games while still keeping that Gameboy style. I particularly loved the reflections of the clouds in the water. It really helped the world feel more alive and real. The music was nice and fitting for the game. The writing was overall nice and a good take on the classic video game tropes that have become second nature for most, but are quite monstrous when you give them a thought. Overall, I liked it a bunch! I just wished the combat was a bit slower, but that's mostly my general video game ineptitude speaking xD

Back for Dinner by Thomas Olsson 2015-08-24T12:18:00

The atmosphere was great and the idea, considering the fact it was done in 48h was very ambitious. It was a little buggy and quite difficult but overall a good entry.

Dude, Stop by Patomkin 2015-08-26T18:22:00

Extremely creative take on the theme! I feel the scenes were classic examples of everyday mundane "monsters" :D I feel some of the objects could have been made easier to interact with, but other than that, superb entry!

Bunny Inferno by Stanleys_Stoop 2015-08-24T15:24:00

This was really good! I like the simplicity, yet challenge and addictiveness of the gameplay. I also love the sound effects. They are so cute and yet rewarding. Same goes for the graphics. I also love the creative literal interpretation of the theme. In this game, you, yourself, the player are the monster. And you having fun doing it!

GUILLOTINE by Ibai Aizpurua 2015-09-02T21:50:00

Fantastic entry! I loved the idea of the guy getting his head chopped off and then having to get it back with the powerups being other heads. It was really creative! The control was smooth and had a Castlevania vibe to it with how slow you moved and how delayed your attacks were. The graphics were very nice and I love the old school horror look to it. The atmospheric music also worked well. My main issue is with the level design as it can get extremly harsh at times. Some of the mechanics and platforming challenges just didn't seem to fit with the way the character moved and attacked. Other than that, great entry!

McTremson Bar by collaboration 2015-08-26T17:47:00

The music was outstanding and the graphics were great. Those two things were the main contributors to this game's awesome mood. It really captured that Noire feeling. The gameplay was also interesting, with loads of replay value due to the different endings. However, a way to speed things up on repeated playthroughs would have been nice. Perhaps just a faster movement speed? And the dialogue system I feel could have benefitted from being something a little more standart than the click on the speech bubbles to close them. Other than those small issues this was one of the best enries I have seen so far!

iMonster by chkkll 2015-08-29T14:06:00

The presentation was lovely! The simple, yet well execute aesthetic was fantastic and the music as simple as it might be, added a lot of atmosphere and didn't get annoying even though it was only a couple of notes. The movement was done very nicely and I liked the mirror effect. The game would have benefitted from some more challenge and rewards however. Perhaps a way for the enemies to actually hurt you? Other than that, very nice entry!

Monstre de Coiffure by Patacorow 2015-09-11T18:58:00

The graphics were lovely, the idea was nice and the execusion was quite good. Perhaps a way to extend time depending on how good you are would have been nice, however.

Melody Muncher by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2015-09-13T15:41:00

The soundtrack was fabulous! I loved it! The graphics were basic pixel art but it felt fitting for the sound track. The concept was awesome for Ludum Dare, and I loved that it had only one mechanic that was deep enough to last the entire game without getting stale. Overall, great work! The timing sometimes did feel a bit off, though even with around 50ms adjustments in both ways ^^'

KaijuKrush by Sparrow 2015-09-14T16:26:00

The graphics were charming and the audio was repetetive, yet awesome. I especially loved the remix on the level select screen. The monster could have stood to have some animation. The concept was simple but brilliant but I just wished there was a bit more strategy besides blindly bashing things. I liked it despite that, though!

Monster - Your Worst Is Our Best by Ellian 2015-09-07T20:50:00

This is probably one of the best entries I have seen! The graphics are lovely and so is the music. The concept is great and reminds me much of Papers, please! only less stressful. Keeping the game in one room would have gotten boring but the randomization turns this otherwise lazy design into something spectacularly engaging! Especially with the fact some of the qualities were very vague so you had no clue if you were interpreting it right. It really made me feel like a detective! Amazingly well made!

Glauron by Frozen Fractal 2015-08-26T17:18:00

Nicely done. It's simple but works. Reminds me very much of a mobile game. The graphics were smooth and the gameplay was simple and to the point. Overall, good entry.

Monster Academy by feiss 2015-08-24T11:10:00

Great art! Cool music and sounds and awesome and adorable take on the theme. It felt very polished although some of the mini games could have been explained better. Overall, very nice entry!

Slasher by Miltage 2015-08-28T20:25:00

This was a good entry, however I feel there was lots of room for improvement. Please don't take my constructive criticism as something harsh as I still enjoyed this entry quite a lot, I just felt like it could have been a bit better. Some actual walking animations(even if it was simple two frame ones) would have added a bunch. The killing them in order was a nice mechanic as it added strategy to your murder, but I feel it needed more balance for skill as I found the most efficient way of killing them was just waiting around for them to go in one of the window rooms and jumping in on them. The waiting got a touch boring but it was a nice contrast to the adrenalin rush that was the actual slashing them to pieces. Another thing that would have made it better is to have some reactions even if it is just something minor like chat changing to the bodies. Finally, some randomization of the house to keep it fresh would also have been awesome. I realize these features were WAY too much to add in such a small time frame, but I point them out simply because I feel this game was very well made and fun and just wanted to hypothesize about its full potential. Overall, great entry!

LD35 — Shapeshift

windowframe by managore 2016-04-21T19:00:00

This is probably the best entry of LD I have played so far. I adored the main mechanic which was super simple to understand yet so creatively forth wall breaking it was unreal. I like the simple visual style and the amount of content for a 48h time limit was mind blowing. The only thing that could have made it better would have been some music, but I totally understand if time did not allow for that. Overall, amazing entry!

Cyan by rxi 2016-04-19T21:09:00

I loved this one. The graphics were simple, yet worked so well. I also enjoyed the music which had enough elements that built up over time to make it not repetative. The gameplay was solid tight platforming action that I love to bits. My only two gripes are that the camera movement tends to be a bit stuttery for some reason, and the bat form has just a touch more momentum than I would like. Other than that, bloody fantastic!

Ship Shape by paquinn 2016-04-19T09:46:00

I quite enjoyed this one. I liked the minimalistic graphics and I think the concept was lovely. THe lack of music is usually a problem but here it felt like a positive because it added to the cold loneliness of space. Overall, very good but simple entry!

Flesh Mess by radmars 2016-04-30T20:40:00

This was a neat little game. The graphics were very well made and so was the music - really reminded me of a SEGA Genesis/Megadrive game, which tickled my fancy. The gameplay was also quite reminisent of those types of games as well. I enjoyed it, as difficult as it was. I do have some slight issues with it, however. Mostly the controls could have been better. Either making it a mouse shooter/WASD shooter or maybe mapping the layouts a bit differently(both letting the player use the analog on the controller as well as using something else than space to shoot) would have made it more responsive and fun. Other than that, very solid entry!

ADAPT by cabezotta 2016-04-19T17:09:00

I really quite enjoyed this one. The art was very simple, but had a charm to it, mostly due to the lighting. The gameplay was shape shifting in its purest form, really, but it was polished and well done. I do think the button mapping is a bit akward, but it didn't feel horrible. Overall, I really liked it!

Through Oneself by Omiya Games 2016-04-19T21:27:00

This is a brilliant little showcase for a very strong concept. I love the idea of it! I believe that with enough time and development this can be a triple A game some day. Fantastic job!

Toyquake by Pickens Inc. 2016-04-23T16:43:00

This was a really good one! The graphics weren't particularly impressive in a conventional way but it had the programmer style art charm for sure. The sound was simple, but it did its job well. What I found in this game that I don't in a lot of other LD submissions is genuine fun. I really like the game's mechanic and the progression of it kept me hooked. I really enjoyed it, for sure! What I would tweak to make it better is to make sure that early on the platforms that spawn are higher and as the score increases, the platforms get closer to the lava. That aspect just feels random, at is. Other than that, fantastic entry!

Lumiania by Yword 2016-04-20T19:42:00

This was one awesome game. It wasn't super innovative or amazingly complex but it took a simple mechanics set and made it super fun. I really love the graphics and especially how much punch the combat had with all the visual flare. The music was really quite good as well which is not something a lot of LD games have going for them. The controls were tight and never felt bad at all and the level was fun and made use of all the powers. Overall, a classic entry, but one the inner platformer nerd in me absolutely adores!

LycanQuest by mactinite 2016-04-23T14:33:00

This was a good entry. The graphics style was quite intersting but simple. The screen effects did look really good and added a lot to the game feel. I enjoyed the music as well. The controls felt tight and the two forms were similar, yet different enough. The enemies were quite tough to defeat, but fun to do so, especially the wizard guys. Overall, solid entry!

10DaysOfDreaming by Polyknight_+_dragonGlitch 2016-04-20T07:49:00

This was a fantastic entry! I really enjoyed the art style and music which I felt set a mood that was similar to a fairy tale. I also really enjoyed the story of it which was a great take on the theme. It was happy and touching at the same time. I also adored the little touches you had, such as how frantic the movement was when you were a baby lol. My only gripes are very minor ones such as the fact that the checkerdboard pattern wasn't amazing background filler, in my opinion. The game did also get a bit repetative in the middle. Other than those very small things you did a superb job!

In/Out Of Shape by Gabe 2016-04-19T08:27:00

The artstyle wasn't anything special really, but it did the job well enough, so I can't fault the game on that. Especially considering how great the actual game is, it's hard to throw flack around. It's not super polished, but it is good geniune fun and feels like a real game which is a thing that not a lot of LD games have going for them. The mechanics were a fun take on the theme and I think adding a restriction to the amount of times the player could switch forms was a simple, yet brilliant way to add depth. Overall, great entry!

Paperchase by DragonXVI 2016-04-20T08:01:00

I really enjoyed the pixel graphics and the flare the lighting added(although I am usually not a fan of smooth lighting with pixels, it worked here). I also like the music, it was suitably jolly. The flavour text was also quite amusing, especially with the little touches it had such as acknowledging the fact you can cheese that first airplane section with the parachute form. What this game lacked is some polish. I think the airplane controlled terribly, but then again that could just be me being bad at games/not getting it. It was a touch buggy as well, but nothing gamebreaking, at least for me. Overall, a great entry to LD 35!

Shifty the Spellthief by vethan 2016-04-29T13:33:00

I quite enjoyed the graphics, and they sure were impressive for a LD entry. The game was also quite solid with a few exceptions here and there. For example, the jump felt way too heavy in my opinion. The map was completely useless(at least for me) and maybe a slightly more fitting choice of music would have been nice, as the current one sounds just a bit like porno. Other than that, solid entry.

Shape Rave by MintArcade 2016-04-30T21:16:00

This was a nice game. The graphics were quite busy, but worked well and the music was also quite good. The gameplay was classic, but well executed and I liked the leeway you left the player, when it came to hitting the shapes right. Overall, challenging but solid entry!

Body Key by vicious_br 2016-04-20T08:13:00

Not much art to talk about but I think for a game like this keeping it simple and clean was the right decision. The music was subtle enough to be enjoyable and not really get repetative. The main mechanic was really quite simple to understand, yet surprisingly enjoyable and fun to mess around with. I also liked how you built more and more on top of it as time went on. Overall, very solid entry!

Moonlight by Phaix 2016-04-20T19:17:00

This was a neat project. I enjoyed the suitably dark atmosphere and the sound effects. The graphics were good and I didn't really mind the lack of music because in this case it added to the mood. I do wish the attacks were a bit punchier and more fun to pull off and also lowering the mouse sensitivity would have helped as well as I think it was a touch too easy to turn way more than I wished to.

Attached by roban101 2016-04-19T09:06:00

I enjoyed what I played. The controls could have been a bit less clunky and more consistant(sometimes I fealt really slow, sometimes I felt really fast). Also for some reason pressing Q on my keyboard did nothing :/ I tried rebooting but it didn't seem to fix it. The graphics were really well made and overall I had fun with what I played so a job well done!

Altered Beard by gillenew 2016-04-19T20:59:00

First off, these graphics are lovely. I especially enjoy the color choices particularly on the buildings for some reason lol. The music is nice and gets you pumped up. It also sounds suitably alien-asque with a techno vibe. The gameplay looks a bit like an usual beat-em-up, but it takes a bit more smarts than that mostly due to how fast the enemies attack once they have spotted you. I enjoyed the entry overall, I only feel it could have benefitted from a bit more player feedback when taking damage(such as some screen shake or a sound effect) and some similar juice for the attacks.

WhereWolf by loet 2016-04-19T08:35:00

I enjoyed the turn based mechanics and I think there was a fair bit of strategy involved considering how simple they were. It was a fun little game and it is nice to see another entry make use of roguelike movement, other than my own xD The art was simple, yet good looking, but I do think more contrast between the spaces where you can and cannot move would have been nice. I did manage to bug out the game, I believe by spamming the shapeshift. I could walk around as the wolf and enter the villagers' vison without losing. I figure the game displayed the wolf graphics while in actuality I was still in my human form. Just a little thing to look out for, but overall - really good entry!

Shape-Shift Dungeon by laluis1 2016-04-29T13:24:00

I enjoyed the low-def graphics style and the sound effects to match. I do have quite a few issues with the actual game, however. Not to say it is bad, more as a few points of constructive criticism. I did not like the controls, or rather: I did not like the controls for this type of game. You see, to me at least, the character had way too much momentum and the delay on the jump did not help the unresponsive feel, either. These controls would have been okay as game mechanics, I guess, if it weren't for the fact that this is a really hard precision platformer type of game where control responsiveness and game feel are key. Just my two cents on the game. I did like the death message however~

Aether Crypt by Tselmek 2016-04-30T20:26:00

So I finally got along to trying this one and it was very well made. I really liked the art, which was minimalistic, but got the job done quite well. I enjoyed the atmospheric music a lot and the whole mood of it was great. I do have some issues with it, as I do with all entries. Firstly, having a lot of forms was fun and inventive (considering they were all named after different elements and things) but I wished there were maybe fewer forms, but more time spent to make them distinct. Secondly, while I understand it was done for atmospheric purposes, but the level was extremely hard to see, making me often feel lost. Then again that might have been the point lol. Other than those points of constructive criticism, this was still one of the better entries I've tried so far and was quite a bit of fun.

SteamPunkPuzzleGame by 3T3A 2016-05-06T19:22:00

I'll start out by saying I played the web version, so that is the one I'll be basing my points around. The graphics were extremely simplistic, but I suppose for the concept the game was based around the blocky graphics were fitting. The music was short but pretty cool. It reminded me a bit of Katy Pеrry's "Dark Horse" lol. The core concept was quite cool, in my opinion, and there could be quite a few puzzles you can make with it in the future. What this game's fault was is that it lacked polish. It was qutie buggy(the music seemed to cut out, the cursor wouldn't go out of the game window unless I alt+tabbed, the controls were a little messy) and it also could have been a little improved in some other areas(such as letting the player control the camera and turn it around as they modified the block's shape). These are faults that can be attributed largely to the time limit, but I still felt the need to mention them so you can improve this game in the future. Overall, pretty cool entry.

Transmopig by CodeCast 2016-04-19T09:53:00

I did like the whole pig idea behind this. The art was simple and worked, although some animation would have been nice. Also sometimes the shapeshifting bugs out. Other than that a well made game for the compo!

A Slimy Fellow by Ourson 2016-04-23T13:27:00

This was a superb entry! I loved the puzzle/platformer mix of it and I thought all the slime forms were cute and interesting to interact with. The level design was challenging but fair and I had a lot of fun wtih it. The graphics and sound were simple, but they did the job. My one issue was that the slime moved just a bit too slow for my liking, but other than that fantastic job!

SUBJECT 26 by MSiddeek 2016-04-23T13:51:00

Superb game! I enjoyed it a lot. The atmosphere was set really well by the subtle music and the bleak gray graphics. The gameplay was quite minimalistic but I enjoyed it a lot and the puzzles always felt fair and balanced. I really liked the small touches as well, such as then going under a shower as a butterfly that is colored by paint, the paint washed off. It may not be much, but little things like that really add to a game, in my opinion. My criticism lies in the story mostly, or more accurately the way it was told. Not to say it's bad, but there are a few things I would have liked better in its presentation. For example, if you made it so the boxes for when you read stuff(notes, scribbles etc.) stayed up until you pressed E again and maybe paused the game while you were reading them I would have gotten a lot more out of them. As a slow-ish reader and not a native English speaker, I guess my opinion is biased, but having as much time as I'd like to read through and take in the notes and such would have helped me get the story a lot more. Other than that, I had a lot of fun and I congratulate you on a great entry to this LD!

Sky Panic by ladybenko 2016-04-19T17:14:00

I liked this one. It wasn't super innovative or anything, but it was simple and it worked. The art was nice and as a classic horizontal shoot-em-up, it did its job. I do think some screen shake would have added a bit. Also maybe remapping TAB to SHIFT for the switching (this may be my own personal preference). Also, at least on the web version, it seemed like the sound effects cut off the music, which was a little offputting. Other than these gripes, this was a solid entry.

The Void Walker by Ethan Allwood 2016-04-30T20:52:00

This was a good little game. I enjoyed the art and music, which were cute and oldschool. The gameplay was classic, but I liked the take on shapeshift, as each time you touched the crystals the level changed. It was so simple, but elegant. The controls were tight for the most part, although i feel like the 'combat' was a little akward. Other than that, solid game!

The Skinmancer by derr 2016-04-30T21:10:00

I quite enjoyed this one. The graphics were awesome and so was the sound design! It was tough for sure but quite fun. Overall, solid entry! (I also like your post-mortem on it)

<T.F.O.S> by Tanton-XHX 2016-05-06T18:38:00

This was a nice little game. I enjoyed the graphics quite a lot and the music was very calm and fitting. The gameplay was quite minimal but I did like the small touches you added, such as the way the character wasn't 100% responsive, almost as if outside forces were pushing him. That was very fitting because I assume the game took place in an environment such as water, where currents are a thing. I couldn't quite figure out the goal of the game, so a tutorial would have been nice, but outside of that - neat enrtry!

Eggplant’s Dynamic Chimerization by DAT.NOT.MY.GAME! 2016-04-21T19:13:00

So the presentation for this project was great. I loved the rancho-esque music and the graphics and sound effects were really quite charming. The gameplay for what it was (or at least what I got out of it which was run around looking for doors trying to get a high score) really kept my interest longer than expected. Not to say the game was bad in any way, just that the mechanic was really quite simple and repetative. I did enjoy the timed shifting which kept the pace and interest up. It would be good if you developed this further and made a real game with a slightly more complex mechanics set behind it is what I am saying. Other than that, really solid entry!

Douglas' Escape by pirate_shell 2016-04-19T08:57:00

@donvermo I was really close to the line in terms of time, so I wanted to push out the Windows version first. I will try to port it to Mac and Linux and maybe even Android in the near future ^.^'

Douglas' Escape by pirate_shell 2016-04-19T09:40:00

@SantiHisteria Thank you for your kind words!

@02fc.exe Not sure why it would be freezing, but the music layering is very much and issue. I will try my best to fix it up after getting home from school.

@Danny Gallagher Thank you! It really means a lot~ What do you mean by unresponsive?

Douglas' Escape by pirate_shell 2016-04-20T08:06:00

Thank you so much for all your kind words, guys! I'm super glad you enjoyed the graphics/the game in general. I do think that with more polish and time, this could turn into a full game, yes! About the crate level, you simply have to right click the dirt to make spikes appear that destroy the block. I figured the pun was enough to teach you that, but I guess not xD

The man that changed into a plant. by Digitaldude555 2016-04-29T13:40:00

First off, as cheesy as tehy ware I quite enjoyed the graphics. They weren't spectacular from and objective point of view but they had a charm that few LD games have. The lack of sound is not good, but it's a thing a lot of LD games have going against them, so I can't fault you for that. The gameplay was quite simple, but pretty cool in its execution. Overall, solid entry!

Ghost Bird by torcado 2016-04-19T08:54:00

The graphics style I think really added to the game. I enjoyed it and I also liked how it played a role in the mechanics as well, making some relatively simple platforming a lot trickier. Music or sound would have been nice, but I don't think they are mandatory. It was quite a loose interpretation of the theme, however, but I can't really fault what is otherwise a supereb entry on that.

Disarranged by Sheepolution 2016-04-21T19:49:00

So this is was quite the experience. I went into it expecting a deep game about depression and got Couch Man: Saviour of the Universe. Nothing much to say other than 10/10, best game.

TRUMP: Political Shapeshifter by Brice 2016-05-01T11:36:00

So as the token Trump game of LD, this was quite good. The graphics were simple, but did the trick and the voice was a nice touch, too. The gameplay was more compelling than I figured, as sometimes a statement didn't immediately form into my mind as something that I'd necessarily call conservative, controvercial or presidential. The thing is though, the joke behind it felt very tired to me. Yes, Trump says awful things and is a bad politician, I think anyone with more than two functional brain cells can figure that much. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that unlike some of the commenters here, I didn't see it as particularly profound or "making as statement" as much as I saw it as a fun game to play.

Kitsune by Lullaby 2016-05-06T18:56:00

This was a pretty dang great entry! First off, the graphics were awesome and coupled with the music created a wonderful eastern feel that not a lot of games have this LD (if any other than your own). The gameplay was a bit confusing at first, but after a couple of minutes I understood the point of the game and it became quite fun. My main issues are that it is very difficult and that it could stand to have a bit more polish put into it. The difficulty point can be countered by the fact I am not very good at video games, but whatever I'm biased xD As far as the polish, it's really not a fault of the game, as much as of the time limit. Nothing was wrong with the core experience at all, I just feel a bit of screen shake, some punchy sound effects and other small touches would make this an even more fun experience. Just as a thing to keep an eye out in the future, if you continue this. Other than that, good entry!

Shape Escape by JoeManaco 2016-04-19T08:43:00

Spectacular game! The mechanics were so simple, but so elegant and fun. It managed to use infinite runner-esque mechanics without turning into a generic entry. I mean, you deserve props on that alone :D I also like the simple art and the music was really enjoyable. I do however wish, it didn't restart after every level, because most of the levels were quite short. Other than that, though, really fun and polished!

Nyamo's Adventure by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2016-05-09T21:19:00

Every once in a while an entry like this pops up. An entry that is just a joy to play and makes me wonder how this was even possible to make within the time limit. The graphics are fantastic, the music is even better and the gameplay while classic is so polished and fun it doesn't matter much. Most impressive is the amount of content this had for a jam game. It's astonishing! I congratulate you on an amazing entry! My only point to make is that an inclusion of a map would have been nice.

Miss Turner's Magical Pet Swap Shop by Rose 2016-04-30T20:09:00

The idea was quite interesting on this one. I enjoyed the whole concept of it and it reminded me a bit of a Newgrounds management flash game(in a good way). The graphics were simple, but did their job and the music set the tone right for the lighthearted game it is. My main issue is the fact that the player is never really taught how the animals are supposed to look. That is understandable considering the time limit, however. Other than that, solid entry!

Don't Be a Square! by KingEthaniel 2016-04-19T08:17:00

I quite enjoyed the pixel style you used, it was simple, but worked. It reminded me a bit of super meat boy actually. The game had an interesting mechanic, but I didn't really understand how exactly how it worked and why some enemies were only affected by certain weapon charges. Overall, a very difficult but well made entry!

Cloud Sculptor by Naca 2016-05-01T11:45:00

As a little mood piece that you were supposed to kill a few minutes with, this worked rather well. I have some reservations critiquing it, because it doesn't aim for the things that most other LD games do, but I will try to give my thoughts within the context of what it was trying to achieve. I enjoyed the graphics, although some kind of texture to fit with the painting aesthetic for the sky would have been nice. The concept was pretty simple, but I enojyed blowing the clouds around for a little while. Maybe some type of game mode where you have a goal would be nice for a future version. The music was nice and calming and I think it fit rather well. I'm not 100% sure how this counts as shapeshifting, as to me it felt more like positionshifting of the clouds. It was pretty cool for what it was though, so I congratulate you on that!

A solid entry. I enjoyed the cute art and that and the nice music set a very good mood. I couldn't quite figure out the point of the game, but that might have been just me being dumb xD Overall, good job on your entry guys!

WolfBit by MatMortatti 2016-04-21T19:36:00

So the mood in this entry was fantastic. The old horror classic black and white look worked superbly and the soundtrack was energetic yet fitting. The mechanics were really simple, or should I say 'mechanic'. The whole switch around of controls was confusing at first, but then I understood the idea behind it perfectly. It was really quite easy to grasp, but compelling as you had the pressure of multitasking avoiding enemies and having to keep an eye out for the next set of controls. I really found that feeling compelling but also really really hard. That's my main issue. Perhaps a bit of balancing will fix it, as having so many things to juggle really is a lot to take in. Maybe I just suck (I do). Other than that, simple yet well executed entry!

Blink by samlo 2016-04-20T19:27:00

This was a very solid entry. The mechanic was really simple, but polished rather well. The graphics were minimalistic but I enjoyed them a lot. The soundtrack was suitably hyping me up so good job on that front! The gameplay was also fun, although I sucked really bad lol. I would have liked some sort of sound effects for a bit more punch and also the controller buttons you had on the level ground were not accurate for me(used A instead of X, RB instead of RT) Overall though - a great entry!

Oh What a Night by Siegfried Croes 2016-04-19T08:04:00

This was a well made entry. I quite enjoyed the GameBoy-esque style, and I found the story cute. If I had one gripe, it would be lack of direction for the player, which lead to me getting lost after turning on the lights. Overall though, it's a well made entry, keeping in mind the time limit.

Crate Shifter by Lumicgames 2016-04-19T09:34:00

I think the graphics for this one were very good. I also enjoyed the dreamy music and especially how it built up over time. The gameplay was also simple, but well made. Overall, great entry!

Cult Quest by solkar 2016-04-23T14:12:00

This was a neat little game. Quite a classic infinite runner take on the theme, but a well made one regardless. The graphics were really nice and reminded me of a well made cartoon show. While the music was fitting and not bad, having 8-bit sound effects really did not fit in with the general aesthetic, in my opinion. In terms of gameplay, the mechanic was easy to understand and get into and quite fun for how simple it was. However, I do have some constructive points to make about it. Number one is the smoke effect around the character's head when they switch forms. It may not seem like much but it almost ruined the game for me. I would very much like to see the head I have equipped immediately after equiping it rather than waiting a second or two for the smoke to clear up. Especially as the game gets harder and a difference of a split second can mean a tonne. You may say it's my fault for not memorizing the order of the heads, but I say the more information you give to your player, the more fair your game will feel. The game also would have gained some value with a couple more obstacles to face and such as you're running along. I do understand time limits are a thing, but keep that in mind if you feel like going further than a LD entry with this. Constructive criticism aside, I enjoyed it and it was well made for the time limit, so good job!

NeoTrap by omarhuseynov011 2016-04-30T21:40:00

As an admirer of the trap genre, the music immediately clicked with me, which is important for a game like this. The mechanics were simple but quite challenging. I did find the jumping almost impossible, however, so giving the player a little bit more room for error in that aspect would have been nice. Also the way the music abruptly ended after dying was a bit weird. Other than that, I don't think it fit the theme super well, but I enjoyed it and that's what matters :D
