This is a great concept. Archimedes was actually the first thing that popped into my head when the theme was announced. I could see a really cool tower defense game from this mechanic. Well done!

Mirror mechanics are great, low poly water is perfect.

I love the art, the reflection mechanics were very interesting, good job! I was able to get to about 7500 before realising it wasn't getting harder :P The shields were an interesting challenge, nicely done!

jeremyfa 2016-08-30 13:55

Very good idea! Found it a bit difficult though. I felt sometimes that whatever I do, some ships will pass through.

redhotalex 2016-08-30 14:04

Am I the only one or is this pretty hard? By the way, great game idea. I love you graphics. Sounds matches well. Perhaps there could be a local multiplayer? ^^

Great concept and really fun to play.

allthebees 2016-08-30 15:38

Love the low poly art and the mechanic feels good to use.

bushmango3 2016-08-30 16:34

fun game!

stenol 2016-08-30 16:42

I love it. It's not always easy. The sound effects are good but maybe a little bit of music would have been fine. Great work :)

fisher007 2016-08-30 16:45

A well made game with an interesting mechanic, the only problem is that it's a bit hard to utilize the mirroring feature. It would be nice if you could control the mirrors more easily.

nino-nagy 2016-08-30 16:45

Very good executed idea, simple and nice. :D

juaxix 2016-08-30 16:50

pretty neat revamp of the classic history, love the 3d lowpoly art and realization. It should go more up in difficulty (bigger ships or harder)

adsilcott 2016-08-30 17:12

Good graphics and a cool idea. It became a lot more interesting when I realized you could control the big mirror on the other side!

mewsoul 2016-08-30 21:02

First of all thanks for the feedback ^^
Nice game, I really like how you interpreted the theme, that's original!
Easy to control, the graphics are nice too, actually I was wondering what did you use for this low poly style?
Just two things I would point is the fact that we don't see very well the health of the ships (a bit covered by the sails), and also when the ships cross the finish line.
Good job for this entry! :)

great mechanic idea and take on the theme. the art assets were also a good fit. the controls were a bit awkward, i found it hard to quickly adjust the mirrors. id like a ghost ray showing where they would go if a ship wasn't in the way.

great work!

panicthefirst 2016-08-30 22:31

Thank you for the feedback, too. :)
For the models I use Blender. For the import settings in Unity I set normals to Calculate and Smoothing Angle to 0. That should give them the flat look. :)

avalanche-games 2016-08-30 23:31

Yay mirrors! I did something similar using mirrors too!

Very well made and love the graphics.

cushycode 2016-08-31 06:39

Oh, yeees! I love games with mirrors and reflections and yours one was quit good.

However the movements is a bit to harsh for me. At first, it was very hard to setup mirrors as I wanted (I got better results do not moving anything at all! x))

Also, it was frustrating that small mirrors work as lasers and the big mirror is just a mirror. Maybe, you need to add "the sun" or any other visible source of light to the scene to make the game more.. realistic, I said.

monkeybit29 2016-08-31 22:25

really awsome game mechanic, my only feedback would be to be able to change the position after you release the mouse button as opposed to having to click again, nice job!

jupiter_hadley 2016-09-01 17:34

Really unique concept! I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/PNJkv1swd3I

cyberstarlight 2016-09-01 21:43

Very interesting idea, and simple but fitting graphics, I managed to last for a while, but not sure how long is considered good :)

Hitting the single mirror on the other side is hard though if other ships are blocking you line to it.

I like the life bars on the ships but it's hard to see on low HP, maybe they should be more bright,or hover on top of the ship model.
A bit of music would have been nice to set some atmosphere.

nice entry, well done.

pickensincorporated 2016-09-02 16:10

Nice idea! Got a high score of 8600. Low poly graphics were beautiful. I found I got survive for a really long time by just always having one mirror selected, and just putting my mouse cursor on the ship till it sank. To remedy this, I suggest playing with the positioning/quanitity of mirrors, and to perhaps have more "shielded" ships. Played it on stream, please watch the VOD if you like! Good job.

Gave this game a go, video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PJ8EgxVQFw

Fun little game, though a bigger map with more towers or more enemy types would do a lot to improve the fun, after a while it seems like just aiming the beam at ships, which can be less fun over time.

frederika 2016-09-10 01:07

Great job! I really enjoyed this game, the only issue I had is that it would have helped to have some idea which mirror was currently selected. I really liked the pacing, which allowed for coming up with a strategy and adjusting as needed.
