LD30 — Connected Worlds

Trade Empire by BenW 2014-08-25T02:42:00

I liked the concept. I couldn't find an objective or anything there. Was there a win/lose condition?

Minor gripe - number formatting in the UI. Restrict to 2 decimal places. Ideally whole dollars make more sense.

Twin Souls in Parallel Worlds by ramoncb 2014-08-27T01:06:00

Nice job. The paper like art really served the concept well and the chill music kept me relaxed while trying to platform away from the adults. The platforming was a bit floaty, but maybe that was intended since the player characters are people?

SpaceTrader by clearlyspam23 2014-08-25T03:08:00

I like the pop out menu on the right. Couldn't really track what effects my trade was actually having. I just started clicking trades and had no idea if they were "good" trades or not. I was swimming in money before I knew it and wasn't really sure what I was doing.

I like the concept though. I hope you revisit after the compo.

Afterlife Dance Party by Wertle 2014-08-25T11:27:00

Good job, Wertle!

My mind just couldn't get that "the devil is going to go a different direction" and I ran him into too many spirits!

Drunken Space Fleet by polarkac 2014-08-25T02:44:00

I liked it. The graphics are simple but they work. This is a classic asteroids type / beginner game.

Data-Man by Hyoga-3D 2014-08-27T01:33:00

Very cool take on Pacman. I like it!

Life (and your choices) by anserran 2014-08-25T03:11:00

Cool game. I like the graphics. I didn't quite understand how the "see evil spirits" thing helped me, as most of the time I couldn't avoid whatever it was he was doing.

Great concept and I'd like to see more from this.

Galaxies by Jeasonfire 2014-08-25T03:20:00

Steering was difficult at first but after a few upgrades I managed to tunnel vision asteroids until I ran out of fuel :(

A Space Trade Game by callumW 2014-08-25T03:02:00

Good entry. I appreciate what you were going for, as I did something similar. I bought a ship and couldn't figure out what it was for, though. I assumed it was to move goods from planet to planet but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Warp Corp by seantheartist 2014-08-27T01:41:00

Push effect is a tiny bit drastic but it was still playable. I prefer WASD to arrow keys, especially when I'm also using a mouse. Just feels more natural to me I guess.

Planetary Devourers by Deozaan 2014-08-27T00:57:00

Good take on a classic style of puzzle. I felt like the art style choice obfuscated the puzzle design and maybe the art should've been simpler, but it gets the job done.

LD30 - Connected Worlds by wobbleboxx 2014-08-25T11:38:00

Really like the presentation on this one. There's a good amount of polish that you don't find on most entries.

The objective wasn't immediately clear in the gameplay. I didn't figure out what I was supposed to be doing until I actually read the entry page.

Zeit by Waterman7 2014-08-27T01:59:00

Super trippy. Took me a few runs to get it, but once I got it I thought it was an interesting idea.

HopSlide by managore 2014-08-26T01:08:00

Very nice. I love the take on the theme and I never thought to connect two separate games.

As a side note: Chrome told me the game .zip was malicious and wouldn't let me download it. I got it fine through firefox. Surprisingly Chrome let me download the source, fine.

Hop Hop Planet by SnoutUp 2014-08-25T11:59:00

Very nice entry! Like the graphics, controls take a bit of getting used to but once you get it they work well.

R-elink: A link between worlds by RaycoSantana 2014-08-25T11:45:00

I liked the music. The concept is great. Like another user said I felt a little disoriented afterwards.

Close Your Eyes by nonetheless 2014-08-25T12:33:00

Good game. Smooth gameplay without wasting time on graphics. The graphics are simple and work really well because they don't distract from the puzzles.

Clashed by dusho 2014-08-27T01:56:00

I thought the click and drag worked pretty well. I got stuck a few times because I'd click and drag and the guy would attack, but not physically move, but logically move. So I couldn't move him again until I figured out where the game moved him to. Usually it was whatever spot on the map didn't have an empty ground tile.

> Continue by ratking 2014-08-25T02:55:00

I'm not typically a choose-your-own-adventure type of gamer, but I like the fact that you can enter your own path and upvote/downvote others. That's a great concept and I may bookmark this and come back to it later in the voting to see what other people have added.

Infected Dimesions by icedvariables 2014-08-25T02:52:00

This was a fun one. Keep it up!

It was hard to tell how to much damage I was taking from each hit. Keep making things!

OmniCorp by tigerbyte 2014-08-25T12:09:00

Oh! You're not just earning gold. Whenever you trade, you don't always get gold. You get whatever the planet produces. Sorry, I should make that more clear.

In the end screen you get scored for resources, not just gold. It's important to keep all of them as high as possible.

Styx by alpha_rats 2014-08-25T11:54:00

Pretty good. I like the graphics. I'm not sure if the little souls in the boat were supposed to be taken away when I got hit, but they weren't. All three were in the boat when I got gameover.

World Portals by Keevinw 2014-08-25T12:20:00

Difficult, but not sure if the controls are the main contributor to the difficulty or if it's something else.

Planestroller by ShaunJS 2014-08-25T02:05:00

I like the main menu. Good job with this. As a follower of your videos I can't say I'm surprised!

Earth <-> Krethys by BethhhB 2014-08-27T02:05:00

I think I locked up the character's movement by shifting back and forth too many times.

Lethal Reflection by steve 2014-08-27T01:22:00

Loved it. There's so much polish here. I played with both a 360 gamepad and the mouse/keyboard and I can't find any issues with either. The fact that your bullets come back to bite you is a mechanic I've seen, but don't see often.

Some might say it's a stretch on the theme but I totally dig the take.

UltraRealistic Moon Wrecking Ball Simulator by ZirconCode 2014-08-25T12:28:00

The game made me smile. I love the fact that the humans look like muffins. I only made it to 145k or something like that. The game gets difficult after level 9 or so.

InterDimensional by Kinta 2014-08-25T11:51:00

I like the concept.

Kind of irritating that you need a config utility to set up controls.

There's no way that the single file you included is the entire source.

Intergalactic Delivery Services Corporation by sP0CkEr2 2014-08-25T12:53:00

I couldn't not rate this one, since I did a similar take on the theme (different mechanics)

Copulus by zapaman 2014-08-25T12:48:00

Fun little game. I managed to kill all my guys in record time!

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Survive the doodle! by DigitalQR 2014-12-08T13:30:00

Nice concept. I'd like to see it taken further and polished!

Zombies 'N Spies by Wezley 2014-12-09T01:39:00

Lighting cones are great. Controls felt strange, I guess maybe because I was expecting to hit S and go down instead of backwards? To each his own, I guess. Game was pretty difficult. I didn't get that far. But I liked it. Neat concept, too.

Coming off of a week of Far Cry 4 binging, I also appreciated the guard banter.

Tv Simulator 2015 by Carl Graves 2014-12-08T04:55:00

I have some mixed feelings about this because I don't see the "gameplay," per say. But every channel had me in stitches and I can't NOT give it a great score just for that.

ZedHead by dokidoki 2014-12-08T03:45:00

Nice take on frogger. I also have a feeling you secretly wanted the snowman to win the theme? :)

Difficult, but lots of fun. Classic.

Blind Maze by FlashRocks 2014-12-09T01:45:00

Makes me dizzy!

GrayGrid by Pixelsalt 2014-12-08T04:18:00

Nice take on a classic.

Fibonacci Grid by Andrew Adams 2014-12-08T03:35:00

Good game. I had a programming teacher that was obsessed with the Fibonacci sequence, so for better or worse I think of him every time I see the word.

Took me a while to figure out how the numbers were actually coming out though, like which tiles were used in the calculation.

If you want to continue to polish this, maybe offering a tutorial round that shows you how numbers are calculated would make this great.
I was thinking maybe just by hovering over a tile, it would show you what tiles would be placed when you clicked.

This seems like it'd be great on mobile, not sure how the hover tutorial would work on mobile, but I'm sure you got it! :)

One Does Not Simply Walk Into More Doors by Wertle 2014-12-14T21:30:00

Great jam project! Terrific art style, as always, Wertle! Great concept, too. Took me a minute to figure out the doors were matched. Love the music. Difficulty was a bit high for me, but I might just suck at video games.

Screen One by Ranmara 2014-12-09T13:43:00

Interesting take on the theme, and innovative concept. Don't think I've ever seen anything where you seat customers in a movie theater. Nice job.

Sorry the Snowman by Dezzles 2014-12-11T02:46:00

What?! This is ridiculous! I burst out in laughter!

Mini Minotaur by ljdp 2014-12-08T03:50:00

Very neat. I didn't realize at first that the sound was used for proximity.

One life hero by komjaur 2014-12-09T01:31:00

Liked the audio a lot. It's not common to have such good music in a 48h submission. What did you use to make it?

There is just nothing on by taaboo 2014-12-08T13:24:00

Nice concept with the theme. Controlled pretty well. I might second the "dark" comment by CustomPhase.

Small (but ultimately unimportant) bug: Seemed like the channel didn't reset to 00 after death.

HexaQuest by qleonetti 2014-12-08T13:53:00

Fantastic concept. Nothing that I haven't seen before, but a great take on the theme. I'd really like to see more development on this. Visual cues, like those mentioned by other players, would go a long way.

Also, not sure if intended, but you can interact with monsters and potions that are not next to you.

Block Dungeon by Lancelot Gao 2014-12-11T03:38:00

Felt like a great frantic dual stick. Gameplay was pretty tight. I personally like dual sticks where the movement is a hair more on the floaty side (just a hair) but I could see where moving too fast would be too much for the smaller room.

After playing some of these entries, I also appreciate the simple controls.

Was there a way to heal? I kept picking up A/B and just powerups.

Good job!

Reluctant Rudolf by ainokaisa 2014-12-08T13:27:00

Difficult! It'd be cool if, when Rudolph starts charging, you could hop on his back and it would confuse him enough to run him into the wall and stun him for a few seconds so you could get a few shots with the whip in.

Pretty solid for 9 hours.

Manly Games Mini by Spacemyname 2014-12-08T03:42:00

Sparks a bit of nostalgia for the old game boy. Nice idea, and nice take on the theme.

Might want to double check the controls on the color matcher, Sometimes J would work, sometimes K would. Does it depend on what I start with?

Maze Escape by Gins 2014-12-08T03:56:00

Neat take on the theme. Classic platforming. I actually laughed out loud at the zipline. Didn't see that coming.

Contact Cowboy by jrap 2014-12-09T01:22:00

Thought the graphics were great, I love the knife and gun, very well done.
Gameplay was solid, but I felt like the knife guy picking up the c4 was a dead giveaway.

Man on the Field by Double Zero One Zero 2014-12-09T02:04:00

Fantasic. This would win the 48 hour no contest.

Crowdsourced by tigerbyte 2014-12-08T01:08:00

@BKGH - So far, Avast! has tried to block every jam/compo entry I've tried to play. Just gotta tell Avast! to can it once in a while, y'know?

Crowdsourced by tigerbyte 2014-12-11T14:02:00

@DomNomNom I agree wholeheartedly. The stats were kind of just thrown in toward the end. By the time I coded in the AI and the four items that you could buy and add, it was already Sunday afternoon. At that point I had to spend some time tweaking numbers. I threw the stats in as just a sort of landing page after the fight ended.

I guess at this point, I'd say the goal is just to last as long as possible, but in a future iteration I would make sure there was some other goal or some other way to measure. The audience wouldn't realistically want a fight to last too long!

The whole game is kind of an experiment/proof-of-concept.

Fido, Fiona & Fidel by pjimmy 2014-12-09T01:49:00

Entire game on one screen eh? Can't see the screen eh?

Well it's a difficult game. Can't really tell who I'm supposed to be paying attention to! When the dog tells me to go up and the cat says go left and both directions lead to a wall!

Box by ShaunJS 2014-12-08T01:24:00

Really neat use of the theme. Took me a while to figure out I had to dig my way down to the exit. Took me a while to figure out I could hold the mouse down to gather up more than one block. I like the "stack" style gathering.

The whole concept overall works well as a 48h submission.
The death animation also made me squee. And I don't squee.

Well done. I'll rate it properly when the judging is officially underway. For what it's worth I think it's an improvement over your last entry.

Sawrvive by MCPGNZ 2014-12-08T04:21:00

Nice take on the theme. Controlling the ship takes a bit of getting used to (and I admittedly never got used to it).
Liked the music.

Random Name Attack by bnmkt 2014-12-08T04:02:00

I agree with sharp911 on the controls. Right click for laser maybe.
It seemed like maybe there was a delay or cooldown on the laser? If that was intentional, maybe a visual indicator for the cooldown would be helpful.

Not a bad first game at all. Hope you learned from it!

Chromashift by andrewjoy 2014-12-11T05:20:00

Interesting gameplay. I couldn't manage to get past the second shift, and it was sometimes hard to hit the blocks or tell whether I was doing okay or not, but not a bad game.

Bejailed by bufferoverflow 2014-12-08T04:06:00

Web and Windows links are broken. Concept is super intriguing so I'll bookmark this one and come back to it hoping the links are fixed! :)

Bejailed by bufferoverflow 2014-12-08T04:11:00

Oh my god the music is hilarious. The sound effects in general are just great. I love that the enemies try to push you off of the center to activate the room.
Definitely polish this one up. It's worth another look.

Summoned by jelly 2014-12-08T03:59:00

I keep falling off!

And then I figured out that I could hit enter and pull the platforms to me. And then I still kept falling off!
(neat game)

Stay Frosty by trenchgames 2014-12-09T01:02:00

Loved it. Difficult. Simple. Great gameplay. Felt like getting spotted was basically game over. Not sure if it was just me but I really couldn't hit anything on its way to an alarm.

Picofrio: Shadow Play night by ManuSaiz 2014-12-08T13:38:00

Great graphics. Using ice breath to turn enemies into platforms is great, and since you can't really "kill" them there's always tension (will that enemy thaw too quickly?)
Jumping is a bit floaty.

Project 327 by jn327 2014-12-08T13:46:00

Didn't really understand where the strategy was. If player 1 skips their first turn, player 2 will have the wrong ships pulsing. No indication of whether or not I could "unselect" a ship if I decided to change my mind. Didn't seem like I could.

I could see this being better with some more time into it. Developing the strategy of pushing asteroids around, using gravity in some interesting ways.

SIRTET by stray 2014-12-11T02:31:00

Good game. I ended with a board that should've given me a game over and didn't.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Bubble Trubble by Jon Reid 2015-04-22T00:48:00

the level with the wide gap and 5 enemies had me stuck. good execution on a cute concept. nice style, nice audio, nice bubble physics. great entry.

Harvest Boom by andreimarks 2015-04-22T23:41:00

Good combination of FPS and farm management? That felt funny even to type.

Stone Fighter by Julgodis 2015-04-22T23:32:00

Good music. I liked the style, and the enemy death animations.

Hugline Miami by Figglewatts 2015-04-22T00:17:00

Super cool. Quite a feat for a 48 hour jam entry.
Great music. Did you tweet the Hotline Miami dev about this? he might be interested in trying it!

Crump Rush by OnlySlightly 2015-04-22T00:24:00

Love the music. Super difficult, as one would expect with this type of game. I don't have the coordination to click the green orbs fast enough, but I like the concept enough.

Invictus by coderitual 2015-04-22T23:35:00

Great prototype. I could see people playing this on mobile. It's frustratingly difficult but doesn't make you wait a long time to get right back into it, which is great.

Bits and Pieces by tigerbyte 2015-04-22T00:52:00

@BoxedMeatRevolution - Pickup and shoot are separated because left click is melee if you have nothing to shoot. I wanted to give players something to defend themselves with while they disperse heat from the gun.

@MoogleSensei - The lack of non-enemy junk was simply a time thing :(. Also the lack of power-ups, which I imagine the crates might have.

---
I did notice the buggy movement. That is actually why there's no HTML 5 port; as soon as I port to html 5, movement breaks completely.

Bits and Pieces by tigerbyte 2015-04-22T00:55:00

@Smirnov48 - The holes in the floor are additional enemy spawners! :)

Bits and Pieces by tigerbyte 2015-04-24T00:56:00

@goblin -- Couldn't pick up more junk because there wasn't any? Or did the gun break?

When you run out of junk (none on the floor) - left click to melee!!

Bravery by balom 2015-04-22T00:12:00

Web player didn't stay full screen for me, so it was kind of awkward, but I was able to stumble through it. It was really difficult to play. Tons of enemies on the screen too quickly, maybe?

Word Smith by nevet 2015-04-22T00:35:00

Interesting idea with the sword name controlling (to some degree) the stats. I liked the audio and the art. Unfortunately I didn't care for the slow swinging of even a four letter sword.

Ted's Quest by notrorschach 2015-04-22T00:32:00

Platforming was a little awkward, but it is an interesting concept. Might just be me, but I also felt like it was difficult to get used to "shift" picks up and "x" throws. Maybe another key combination would feel more natural to me.

Keyboard Warrior by DugelStudios 2015-04-22T00:04:00

Good art on the character. That sort of style is perfect for a 48 hour jam. Keep tweaking character control; the weapon swing was frustratingly slow. Not a bad entry. Lots of room for improvement. Good job.

Nightstalkers by TuttiAE 2015-04-22T00:08:00

Not sure if there was supposed to be Audio, since you didn't opt out of the category, but I didn't hear any. I didn't rate you negatively for it.

Chaotic click-fest, I guess, would be an appropriate way to describe this game. Interesting take on a classic formula.

Bad and Breakfast by Krisjet 2015-04-20T13:02:00

Good amount of juice on the shooting. Screenshake is maybe a bit too strong, as some of the other said.
Platforming by launching yourself in the air with toast was a bit difficult to get used to, but it wasn't too bad. I tend to overshoot the platforms when they're only a block wide, but that just might be my bad platformer "skill."

ink by quill18 2015-04-22T00:41:00

Great job as always, Quill! I laughed out loud when I heard the "dsh" sound of the pen.
