LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Leaving by My Sweet Whomp 2014-12-09T22:18:00

This game is a sick old dog!

Just kidding :p

I really liked the main character and all animation. The gameplay was fun and it held my attention to the end! It took me a while to remember who's who and 3 hits on the rocks felt a little much. Overall, I really liked this one. Really nice work.

Visual Out by madameberry 2014-12-10T18:00:00

Aghh! This is a stand out for me! I just liked your approach and how it all came together to make a powerful atmosphere. The music is soo good I'm still listening to it!

discrepancy by reheated 2014-12-11T20:34:00

Wow! Great game. The story mode with going to war is strange. I don't really like the idea of enabling a robot to go to war by playing this game.

The game play is really fun. The puzzles were fairly challenging and really satisfying. The music was also really nice.

Nice work!

Lycklig's Stone Toss by cardboard 2014-12-09T19:39:00

I'm sure your finals are more pressing that this, AND you said not to leave a comment asking for it -- but I just want to echo that this looks interesting and I want to play but waiting for a build of some kind.

Cell #327 by Aurel Bílý 2014-12-09T18:55:00

Aw man. This was awesome! The mood is really well constructed. I liked the idea of the control scheme with the 'quick select', even though it took a while to get used to for some reason. If you plan on continuing development or make something else like it you may want to consider making a button like tab that cycles through the actions. I realized that this is what I kept wanting to do. Also, I thought it would have been really nice to be able to queue up actions by holding shift. Like an RTS.

I think you should keep working on it :) Nice work!

Tiny Adventure by FrankieSmileShow 2014-12-11T21:02:00

hai guys old gw'er here and i remember you two. i'd love to play. any chance for a mac version in the future?

UON by cabezotta 2014-12-11T19:27:00

Wow! This game is really a stand out. Well done@ I really like how the sounds play with the background music. And the gameplay is so much fun.

My only criticism is that you have less time to see the black cubes moving up and down because the space to play is not square. This makes the fast-paced decisions much more difficult in a way where I don't think it's a positive aspect of the game.

Santa's Seasonal Slayfest by GarethIW 2014-12-11T20:42:00

Haha! This was fun. I like the idea of Santa's evil gladiator death pit. I agree with one of the other commenters that some more feedback on when you've landed a successful hit would be helpful.

And as much as I loved all the bodies on the floor it got a little visually confusing. Maybe a body zamboni could scoot through the stages? Lol.

Anyway solid work!

AroundIsland by uchiro 2014-12-09T06:02:00

i wish i could get past the tentacles! but i really dig the art style. well done :)

OBSIDIAN by gene-z 2014-12-11T21:12:00

Man, this is hard, like really hard. I was really struggling to jet around and get water without over boosting and smashing into the wall. That said, it is fun and the graphics are nice.

What do the other stats do?

ASDF ASDF by alesys 2014-12-09T19:16:00

I liked this one, but it could have been nice to make the kick and the punch, more different, if they are at all. Maybe kick knocks them back? It could be helpful when dealing with the hordes. Well, it was fun anyway!

BBQ DAD by Luke Molnar 2014-12-09T06:18:00

i think i overcooked everything. :P
it was fun though and i love the voice acting!

Tiny's Adventure in TV Land by Kate Kligman 2014-12-11T21:26:00

Whoa. It took me a long time to figure out that you could jump on the clouds, and only found it by holding down spacebar and bouncin around like a bean. It's not a bad thing though. I like moments like that in a game. Where they make you question your own assumptions.

After that I was hoping for something more unexpected challenges, but it was all over so quickly! All in all, it was short and sweet and had a nice a-ha moment.

Entomophobia by DoubleS 2014-12-10T17:43:00

I love the gameboy concept! Also technically, nice idea to use a low res render texture.

Almost arthromited when the lgc bounced my brain. The game has so much charm though. Yayy!

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-09T20:08:00

Oh wow. In the very beginning I was confused why the bomb timer was so long. Then I figured it out. I liked that shift in understanding. The levels are well designed and the mood, thanks to the art and effects, is really special.

I got stuck a few times though and the only way to get to where I wanted to go was to jump off the edge.

All in all, this is probably one of my favorites so far. Great work.

Law Breaker by deepnight 2014-12-08T21:06:00

It's very well done! Being in the tank was really fun :)

Arena by Poupi 2014-12-10T14:50:00

This is such a nice concept! The design is great, I especially love the enemies. Really nice work. My only criticism, which I'm sure you guys know, is falling off the platform is very very easy to do. Maybe the jump is a tad floaty. Regardless it's a really good one. Nice work.

0000 : Press Z by alvarop 2014-12-11T20:09:00

Everything about this game is so spot on, and I want to keep playing, but I find the controls frustrating. The sensitivity combined with the tininess makes it way more difficult than it should be and caused me to step away. I don't want to sound overly negative, I'm just trying to be constructive.

Everything else is so well done, that it pains me to be pushed away by the controls/sensitivity. I love the way you cycle through rooms when you die. I love the enemies. The level design is spot on. Just the controls ;_____;

Contact Cowboy by jrap 2014-12-09T20:16:00

Aw man. This is so cool! I also lack a player 2, but gave it a go to get a feel for the game.

I really love the knife and the gun graphics on the side, it's a really nice touch. Great design.

Terra Kata by jmborden 2014-12-08T20:54:00

I really like the colors and the yingyang :) My only criticism is that some of the tile combinations end up being really annoying, and if they were more deliberate it would vastly improve the overall experience.

I like it though!

Elendow Dungeon by Elendow 2014-12-11T20:52:00

This was fun! The graphics were really well done. Dat skull guy. ughh. So hard! He's so powerful! At some point I was hiding from a horde of skull guys and they wouldn't move because they didn't have LOS. Then one of the slimes spawned and pushed the skull to a spot here he could see me. It made me think that it could be interesting if the skull men had limited movement but they could join with the slime to make them join together and be somewhat like they are now.

I dunno. Just a suggestion.

Overall, it's still super cool. Thanks!

Office Gaming Inception by AMS 2014-12-09T21:23:00

Haha! I love how his hands start to shake.

Cuberot by guldlock 2014-12-09T23:33:00

The characters from our games seem to be related :)

The use of space is really nice. The music and all the glow really helps set the mood. I'd definitely play through a bunch more cube puzzles!

Nice work!

Mutatoons by kingpirux 2014-12-09T18:31:00

The animations are amazing. They're punchy and funny. The camera zoom is a bit confusing though. Overall I really like this one. Nice work.

Soul Sleep by Technomancer Game Studio 2014-12-11T20:56:00

Fun game! I really like the graphics and the effects. Plus the game in a game while I game is fun. It feels weird that the enemies are able to move so freely but my movement feels restricted.

SIRTET by stray 2014-12-09T21:19:00

This is great! 779 highscore! I was able to get out of situations where I thought I was going to meet my doom. I think it had a lot to do with luck. My only criticism is that the game doesn't allow you to take much risk. I would love to have some high risk/high reward mechanic. But the balance seemed to be up to the random generator.

Really really fun!

Business in Tokyo by 2dgamedev 2014-12-09T23:45:00

I really like the graphics and the idea. The control scheme seemed a bit off though. It feels like it could all be done on the keyboard which would make a much more comfortable experience. Overall though, I had a lot of fun. Nice work!

Don't Fall by SeriousDeath 2014-12-09T19:47:00

I really like your interpretation of the theme and the mood. It all works very well together. Cool game!

Case #31 by Pestel Crew 2014-12-09T19:56:00

Wow. I love your use of space, with the transforming scene. It feels a lot like a play, which I love and works so well for a noir type drama. The mood is on point. My only criticism is starting over is kind of a pain because I have to ~space~ through so much dialogue. In a game like this, it would be nice to restart at the beginning of the scene that I'm currently in.

Really well done. Thanks!

Labyrinth by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2014-12-09T20:11:00

I really want to play this because I loved your last LD entry (and you're a really talented musician). However, the link appears to be broken! ;_______;

Labyrinth by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2014-12-09T21:41:00

I got it :) tyvm.

This game is amazing! I wish there were an award for level design. You definitely have my vote in that category. The music is epic and inspiring. I guess my only criticism (though I fully understand why you did this) is that the puzzles are a tad easy, but in the end I don't mind because the way that you introduced each new element was so well done. It just felt really good to play.

Also the respawn feature is key. Thank you!
