Lawnmower Puzzle by Zathnic 2015-12-15T22:22:00
Pretty hard to get the hang of, but interesting puzzle game. I got stuck for a good while in the 1st level because I didnt get the shootonethesapplingtomakeitcollidable mechanic. Great idea.

Pretty hard to get the hang of, but interesting puzzle game. I got stuck for a good while in the 1st level because I didnt get the shootonethesapplingtomakeitcollidable mechanic. Great idea.
Awesome game, had loads of fun with it. I'm not quite sure if the boss battle is bugged or just a joke, but I laughed when I one shot the scary dude. Like the little story part very much.
Very simple but effective! It would be nice if the dropplets dissapeared on pickup so i don't have to look up left so often to see if i got it or not. I need my eyes on the ball!
Pretty fun the way you can make crooked robots. I like the music too!
The grabbing of 2 things at once makes the game pretty unplayable. Love the music thought, adds a great deal to the humorous mood of the game.
Fun game! Those sideway moving pannels are scary! A bit more physics (jumping off ramps maybe?) would be cool, but great job overall.
Very nice entry, took a minute to get what does what, even after reading the How To Play, but I think it's unavoidable. I found it to be very easy, getting a lot of energy is quick and the aliens don't spawn very often and have a very limited health pool. I had plenty of fun building stuff as quick as I can, I like the fact that your clics are all valuable ressources.
Fun game, like the music alot! I think a bit more control over you jump height would be nice, to adjust to those concecutive jump sequences.
Great game! I had a bit of a "defend your castle" feel while playing it. Nice gameplay idea too. Love everything about it.
Nice graphics, awesome atmosphere. Very scenic game. No real goal thought.
Well, I do agree that the two button theme is lame and leads to limited games. I'll take this as a satire. I also used Pygame for my entry, check it out!
Not sure how you cross pits in the level. I don't have enough to buy a bridge on the first run, am I intended to die then buy some? The control scheme feels very awkward. I like the music and the graphics quite a lot.
Timing the music with the orb would be a great addition. I also found the Toad enemy to be not very interesting, since you can hit him in 2 orb position. He's very easy to defeat. Good idea to improve on.
Great game. Impressive graphics, did you do them from scratch? The storyline seems interesting, I want to know what we did wrong! The battle with the Earth Golem felt very generic thought, I think you should drop the two button control if you want to push this further.
Great entry! I enjoyed growing my plant and trying funky architectures. Graphics were good too.
Sorry for the URL problem, it should be fixed now. Let me know if you guys have any other trouble running the game, and looking foward to your feedback!
Had a weird feeling of exploration and discovery while playing. It was pretty good. The sound effects without ambiant music were a bit harsh on me. Liked it overall.
Pretty fun! I liked how much you manage to do in terms of control with only two buttons. You can navigate in all directions and even shoot. The SFX were pretty harsh thought, the engine one gets annoying because it's the main thing you hear all game, and the "laser destroyed" one blew my ear drums. I think turning faster when using only one engine would also increase playability.
Very, very good game! The diversity in the upgrade is great! The level design could've been a bit more diverse I think. Nice music too, I'd love a boss theme.
Good little game! I acutally wanted to type "I LOVE YOU" the first time you chat, i was like "Woah why did it type LOVE all at once when i selected L, how did it know?". Then I got what was going on :P. Finished the story too.
This is incredibly good. Love the concept. Loved how the death zones started to fall on you near the end, and all the meaning it carried. 5 stars on mood for sure.
Level design could've use more work. I didn't quite get how to kill enemies (shoot). Felt repetitive.
The controls were off, but the concept is nice. The game was a bit tedious, like the first level. It could be a tad shorter. The progressive addition of level feature is good thought. The AI was bugged, the anti-cube guys picked cubes then stoped moving for the rest of the level. You built a nice RTS engine there.
Nice game, quite compelling. The sound effects are a bit loud, since there's no music. Very noticeable on lvl12 when you fall down a narrow pit a keep bumping on each side. I found that the red square enemies were an annoyance, since their cycle don't reset after dying. Makes some part of the game quite random and some deaths unavoidable. I found that the level design was very good, some great ideas here and there. Didn't use the slow button at all.
Awesome game, took me very long to find a city, but then i found 3 clustered together. Random maps will do that. Lots of fun. Loved the song selection, took me a while to notice it thought.
Fun stuff! I like the variety of switching abilities at the right moment. All 3 seems to be of use. Nicely done.
I like the graphics, but I think the seed design is poor. The landmines are unavoidable, and the high speed rockets are too fast to react to. The controls are also off, I'd would benefit from way more friction.
Nice entry, I like the graphics. Some coins/droplets were located on the edge of the screen, and I died from the "out of screen" collision before I could reach them. I also had severe performance issues when the particle effects kicked in on the web player for some reason.
For some reason, I could not build the plant to expand the green area, which means I stayed stuck at the starting area. I felt like the two button control theme was very poorly used, as you had a good idea that required more than two button and then tried to reduce it to an annoying control scheme just to fit the theme.
Nice visual feel, but I find the controls tedious. I had more fun figuring them out in the menu than to control the caracter.
Fun game! The controls were creative, but sometimes you wouldnt take the intended path and run in a ghost. Also, the teleport always teleport the side your caracter is looking and not the side you are clicking. But overall very nicely done!
It could use some instruction/tutorial, maybe just in the description page. I can't get the circle to reach the green square when linking the green color with dopamine, but it does work with the light sensor and dopamine. I don't know how to delete entries on the board (like color) or links between them. I do really like the concept thought, it has a lot of potential as a puzzle game. Make more levels!
If you wish, you can also rate my game: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-34/?action=preview&uid=44126
"Dandelion.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer". I usually find that linking direct .exe for download causes problems. I can probably configure Windows to accept it, but I'd rather not disable that security feature. Maybe you could just zip it?
Interesting game, I didn't really get the story at first. More story paths would encourage multiple playthroughts. I'd also work to make the story a bit clearer.
I can't sadly download the game (broken link). I'd like to tho!
The game is quite nice! I like the music and sound effects, they are very fitting. I found ONIs hard to dodge, especially those you needed to jump over. They look like you can slip under them just barely but then you die trying.
Really like the music. The theme was very original.
Very solid entry, I loved the thought-out map design and the music. Congrats!
This seems very promising, I hope you keep working on it! The graphics are top notch for a LD and the audio is nice. I enjoyed my 30 seconds in this game.
Nice Game! I really like the graphics. Good little puzzles.
Maybe too easy. Would have been nice to have sound. Graphics were minimalist but very nice.
Very good game! The graphics and animations are very well done. The ambiance is very fitting too. Makes you want to know more story wise!
Fun game! I liked the music and sounds. The platforming aspects takes a bit of time to get used to, but was fine.
Really like the graphics. Would have been nice to have some sound.
The character moves a little too fast to my taste. It was hard sometimes to attack without rushing in an ennemy.
Cool concept. I like the fact that there is more than one answer. The sillyness reminds me of WarioWare.
For the music, as said in the credits, it's not ours.
It's from Visager. (I will add this info in the description)

Thanks for all the comments :)
Nice little game. Loved the gaphics. Getting into the elevator took a while.
Realy nice game, I loved it.
Great job!
Nice little game. I had problem with the full screen version on the web: couldn't get out easily enough. I agreee that the game is a bit slow. Maybe more energy could let you do more simultaneouly?
I think sound effects would add a lot to the game. Some knockback when you get hit too, it was hard to tell, especially with the slimes. I liked the battles and the leveling very much. The slime boss was cool too. I found the stamina limited the action more than it added strategy to the game, so maybe if it came back faster out of combat it would be a better balance. I couldnt get health from enemies inside the fire temple, I don't know if that's intended or just bad luck from my part. It made it very difficult to complete, and after 4 attempt I gave up. The death = restart mechanic made it quite punishing, especially in a game where there's a bit of grinding. Overall very entertaining game!
Nice music and good startup for a possible game.
Keep going.
Interesting idea: really into the theme. Would like to see more though, way too short, not enough depth. Some of the items were funny.
Really nice game, congratz!
I did to the lvl 5, after I stoped.
I enjoyed the graphic and the tone of the game. At first, I was a bit scared though because I thought it was some kind of slenderman-game thing. However, I just ended up walking and exploring the map. So simple yet engaging.
This is a type of game I really love, so I love your game.
Some point to ameliorate it maybe :
- Add some animation to kwon who attack
- The campain is around 50/50 chance to win depending of the starting location, maybe to add more strategy, you can add
- More differents units.
- Some obstacles.
- More actions choices for each units.
Cool music.
Great job.
Good idea with the storyline. Loved the music. Explosion sound is a bit too high compared to the rest though. Ship doesn't go fast enough to my taste.
Last level's corridor is too tight and vessel keeps hitting the walls. I won and I'm happy anyway!
Loved the music and sound effect. Nice drawing and style. Had a bit of trouble with drag and droping the ingredient thought. Also, some ingredients seemed to appear twice, but couldn't put the same one... still, nice game.
Nice graphics. I like how you actually put a game in a game: nice way to play with the theme. Simple and yet engaging: played twice.
Nice little game, maybe too much particles to dodge.
Cool music.
I couldn't find a way to get past the first brown wall in the first level :( . I suspect it has something to do with the computer but I can't find a way to use it either, everything is greyed out in the interface and it just has a few cogs spinning around. I like the art style and the animation very much. The music was very nice too. The screams of the dying enemies was a bit too much, but I get the caricatural intention behind it. So I guess it just lacks clearer instruction/tutorial/interface for me to clear the game.
Cool and well polished.
When I sacrifice all but one people, the game end and tell me I sacrified all...
I loved defeating ennemies with the talking. Good job on the writing. The 2D graphics was really nice. I was surprised by the fact that the game was in 3D. Nice music too. The quality is very impressive given the amount of time. I did finished the game actually!
Hi, very nice little platformer. Simple, yet very enjoyable. Though the physic was a bit weird though: low gravity felt as if were in space. Also, I don't know if it was intended, but when close to the walls, you slow down a lots.
I played only a little, but I like the desing.
Keep going!
Interesting idea. I'm not sure about a good strategy to ensure that I get the right symbol. I would like to see more of the concept.
Nice concept. Love the torch idea. It feels like and exploration game. I would like to see you explore the concept more.
Quite fun, I managed to get to the 4th weapon and T-4 after a few tries. Good diversity in the weapons, could use one or two more enemy type. I like the screen shaking when you shoot and the general humor of the game (those instructions, lol).
Nice game, very simple yet still engaging. Loved your drawings, thought your ennemy were really cute. Design is good too. Had some problem crossing the bridge: collision box might be too big... Also, music and sound effect would be nice. I'd also suggest a health bar instead of the numbers. Good job though.
So simple, and yet such a nice game! Loved the art style and the graphics overall. Music was very nice too: soo engaging! Nice play on the theme: the setting is so cute.
Also, the game was very fair. I agree that this game was very polish. Definitely one of the best game I've tried here.
Game was too hard for me. Not very intuitive. I only made it through the first level. Missing some sound effect also. Interesting idea though.
I like the general feel of this game, very retro! The controls are a little slippery for my tastes, but it might be a design choice. The game is quite hard, as I think it should. I got to almost the end of level 2 after about 15min of playing. The music is repetitive, but that contributes to the retro feel.
Interesting story. Good storytelling! Some music would help a lot settling the mood. Also, sometimes, the ''Missy'' option wasn't available.
Simple, yet so engaging. I love puzzle games, and you did a good job on some ofthose, with a very simple mechanic. Good job on the puzzle design.
I think the time delay between each command could have been shorter, especially right after moving a pellet. I couldn't move right away and it was frustrating to me. Also, the control to go from the top or botton to the side were not always working as I thought they would.
I may be a bit too difficult, but I think fast and I love puzzle that I can rush through: if not, I get annoyed easily...
But still, it was a great puzzle game: some nice brain teaser there.
Love the idea (thought about something like that myself actually). The music is very nice. I would have liked to be able to hold space bar to shoot. Also, it was hard to aim properly since you had to walk in the direction you wanted to shoot. However, it makes it pretty hard to shoot when escaping. Good job still!
Interesting concept. Once you get behind, I felt it was almost impossible to come back: I got around 9 letter on each roll even though I haven't made any mistake yet. I felt really overwhelmed. I tried the hard mode, and it felt more like a typing/memory exam.
Once I ran out of ''checkout time'', the game just stoped and I got an error message.
I'm not a fan of the handwork style art in general. But still, yours is nicely done. The shooting mechanism felt a bit too slow for me, and the level were a bit too repetitive. Some sound effect would help, especially since it's ashooter: makes thing more engaging.
Nice little game. Your coice of music really helps setting the mood of the game. Took me a while to get the hang of the control though. When going toward the bottom of the screen, it's hard to keep going in the right direction: adjusting the camera would be nice. Also, the ball felt a bit too slow to my taste.
Great game! I liked the overall mechanics. I found that seeds were too numerous because batteries were plenty enough to refill your energy. A discreet ambiance music would add a lot to the mood too. I managed to get all the beacon parts and had a good time doing so!
Could use some polish. Too much copyrighted stuff for my tastes. Too short.
Very nice game! Graphics are really cute. The control were a bit hard though. Using the wheel or the 1,2,3,4 to change weapon is hard to me, considering there are also some abilities on Q,w,e,r.....
But still, I though it was a very good game! Really polished.
A clicker game is a good way to work with the theme. It took me a while to get what the upgrade were doing, because there don't seem to be a grphic change with smoe of them. I would like to se through the upgrade panel to see what I am doing. Also, it would be nice if those upgrade gave you something more to do, or a new ability in the game. Still, you're on the right path. Music was nice by the way!
Yay! Cool first game! I liked the lava childhood theme. The platforming controls were nice but the top down parts had a very slow acceleration which made them feel unresponsive. The Super Mario sound effects are too known to reuse them in a game, it sounds weird in another context xD. Very fun and complete with even a boss fight. Good game!
Well constructed maze, i like the layout. At first I was skeptic about the navigation and the slow acceleration, but I found that it added a nice challenge to get right and get a good time. It took me a while to get that when you collect a coin a wall gets destroyed, at first I thought that the red thing was a timer and I needed to reach that location before it ran out. The maze looks weird at first too because the exit seems unreachable. Good concept overall, it just needs some polish with menus, sfx and music.
Very intriguing: the music sets the mood nicely. I agree that the beginning is a bit too long. But stil, nice little game.
I didn't enjoy the experience. It's very repetitive and confusing. The storytelling mechanisms are not evident and I had to go through it twice to get most of the things. I would've also liked to have access to the web compo version, as the post compo should not be rated.
Very nice game. Simplistic but well thought out. The letters are a great addition to set a mood/story in a simple way. Great game!
Ok, this game is awesome. I love hard game and puzzle game. The limit of 100 lives add to the trill to pass the game before a game over. Nice job! For me it's a complete game.
Did it in 175 lives (2 attempts).
A bug I saw : When I was in full screen, some text box did not show all the appropriate text (the line jump is not well placed).
Maybe you can give the player the choice to use arrow keys or awsd keys.
Incredible entry! Had so much fun with it! Very responsive controls are a must in such games, and you nailed them. I used all skills but the dash which I found less useful. Congrats!
Great game! I would have liked more feedback when the laser hits the spider. I'm guessing they need more than one hit to die? It was hard to tell if my aim was right or not. I really liked how the room got darker with time, it increases the difficulty and makes you panic a little :P. I couldn't save my dude, I'm guessing the spiders are meant to overwhelm you at some point anyway, which is fine. I had a good time!
Nice game. I found a bug where if you stand in front of the door and spam C, you can skip some rooms. I found jumping to be unresponsive and delayed, maybe you could trigger in on button down instead of up. Nice work on the story.
If the game crash on mac, check if you have xquartz. It's necessary : https://www.xquartz.org
Aww, this is cute. Not really a game, not really respecting the theme, but I get how things can get convoluted sometimes. It's nice that you still did something!
The atmosphere is very well done. Maybe some sfx when you touch/inspect stuff would add a bit of depth. The unfolding of the story is interesting and makes you want to keep going until you get answers. The ending was very anti-climatic, as everything you discovered earlier seems to become irrelevant in what seems to be an effort to say "haha I got you". Maybe add a bit more foreshadowing. It's too bad you can't really guess/catch the culprit. But overall a very polished game and a great experience!
Neat idea. However, since there was so little I could do, I didn't feel involved in the game.. It would need more things for the player to do. Also, music or at least sound effect are always a nice touch!
I liked that some of your choice affected the story and the dialogs, and especially the ending. There was some good humor. Game was a bit static though. The music helped setting the mood though.
Nice game, good job!
Great game, but veeery hard. Takes a good while to understand too, the in-game explanation is not all that clear. Your comment helped clear it up. I find that when a single lane gets blocked, it makes it very hard to navigate and inevitably leads to other lanes getting destroyed. A good concept overall.
Amazing puzzle game. Loved the design: the idea is so simple, and yet, some of those were real brain buster. The controls were very intuitive. Took me a while to get used to the double layer though.... maybe a half-tile discrepancy would help?
The graphics were just so nice, and the music so soothing: felt I could keep on trying forever.
My only complaint is the following: maybe something more to diffrentiate the open and close button. I just kept forgeting which one it was.
I can see this concept getting bigger with switch or new types of conveyor belts. Then again, I just loved your game so much.
By the way, thank you for your review on our game! Great insight.
Nice concept: wish I could try it with someone. I didn't find the trick to beat the AI: he seems to stay on his own trail, so I can't approach it. Graphics and music are sooo cute. Very nice game.
I'm not a fan of sketchy style graphics, but the overall feel of the game is fine. The controls are quite smooth. The collisions have a weird behavior with the car shaking back and forth. I had a few runs where no towers in the map would drop the flag, which prevented me from completing the game and made me sad. I liked the MicroMachine inspired theme and the use of pencils as weapons.
I love time managements game. This one, considering it's a 48 hour game, feels very polished. The music is very good too. Good job! Also, it reminded me of my week-end! I really enjoyed it.
I like how at the beginning you have to press space to continue dialogs to get told to press space to continue dialogue. The atmosphere at the start is very gloomy and well done. The lack of death animation/game over message makes it quite confusing when you die and the game instantly restart. The fourth room is pretty hard, I couldnt get past it in many attempts. Great game overall!
Fun little game! I liked the music, I didn't get tired of it even through the 5 levels. I found the soft particle effects on the fireballs to be weird considering the rest was pixel art. I also think the collision on spikes was too forgiving and confused the player as to where he could go through or not. The physics were retro but I was very fine with them, they contributed to the overall style of the game. Good job!
Such a great game! The design is very well done, from the blood flow encouraging you in the right direction to the visuals, everything is well thought out. The music was nice and fitted well with the rest of the game. The intestines were quite livery, but I'm guessing it's the LD time constraints showing there :P. Some of my red blood cells got caught on some edges in the vein between the stomach and the intestines, but they rejoined as soon as I went back for them, I'm not sure if that's intended. Very good job overall!
Very intriguing game. I liked the feel of the game, the weird atmosphere. I also liked the funny guy who tells you what to do and all his pose.
That was a very original concept. However, I do agree with some other users that says it doesn't really feel like a game. There are few gameplay elements, and it doesn't quite is an exploration game.
Still there is an impressive amount a work here, so well done!
This is a pretty good game! It's rare to see a 3D game with quite polished graphics. I liked the humor of it and the country music that fit very well with the game. I had trouble at the beginning as I tried to fire with left/right click while walking around on foot on the planet and thought my game was bugged. I finally understood that the round thing in the pen was a horse and not a cow xD. Maybe put an arrow over it to guide the player, or maybe I'm just bad. I had a good time playing your game!
Thas was amazing! The music was so engaging. The game felt very polished overall. I loved how you'd zoom out when changing zone: that was really cool. I also laugh when I saw the death screen (won't say why, 'cause I don't want to spoil it).
The game was quite hard though: I like it when there are some checkpoint. Also, I prefer when I can hold down the mouse button and keep shooting.
Still, that was a fantastic game, and I kept the clicking the mouse button long enough so that my finger si hurting. Congrats!
Nice concept for a compo. The game is however quite hard: I got to the point where I depleted one island and everyone on the main land started to starve. It would be nice to add some upgrade, so that you can keep up. Also a more detailed UI would be helpful.
I enjoy a lot those kind of game. I can see that yours is on a good start.
Very interesting game! It's quite fun to go around destroying and eating planets. I wish you could destroy missiles with the laser. It's very hard to get to a big size, I only managed 9 before getting nuked down to 3. The planets are hard to eat sometimes, I couldn't quite tell what I could eat or not. With a bit of diversity (upgrades?, levels with goals?), this could go quite a long way. Good job!
I liked the concept of the game. The orbiting and launching from orbit with space mechanic was solid and original. I didn't like that you could shoot yourself with your own lasers, especially when hitting the police doesn't destroy your laser. Surviving felt a bit random because of it. An ambient music would've been nice, but the SFX where good for an arcade style game. Good job!
Good job here: you've done so much!
The physic is a bit weird to my taste: jumping feels like you're on the moon, and there is too mouch gliding. It made the game more frustrating than challenging.
Still, I love the theming of every level. Too bad there is no music. Again: well done.
I really loved the music and the overall atmosphere! There was a kind of melancholy floating around that fit well with the winter theme. The platforming gameplay was quite basic and the puzzles could've been a bit more complex, but I enjoyed my time in the snowglobe and got my cosy fire in the end. Great job on this game!
Fantastic game! Reminded me a lot of overcooked. Played in coop-mode and we had a great time. Music is awesome, as always. I loved how each new level brings a new difficulty. It's so simple, and the game is very polished. So, as always, very good job!
I thought the concept was great. The physics seems to be working very smoothly and that's amazing. However, it was really hard to control the shooting. I experimented a bit with diffrent power level, but it was really hard to hit the other player. I ended up just shooting randomly. I think it'd be more fun if you could control the position of the shooter on the planet.
But then again: good work on your physics engine, really neat!
Haha this game is quite good! I loved the overall humor of it, especially the walking animation. The music fitted nicely with the atmosphere. The boss was a bit confusing to fight as I didn't know where to go when I was up left of him, so I just jumped through him to get to the other side. On the last level I also lost my rock the first time by pushing it all the way against the right wall, which was a bit frustrating. I found the plant enemies decent, but I think something more funky to fit with the character would have been nice! Still, good job on this game!
Sorry for the Mac troubleshoot, we added a note to the description. You need to have xquartz, maybe it's your problem.
https://www.xquartz.org
Funny little idea. My simulations seemed to always end into total human domination thought. I found the acorns to be veeeery small, to the point of just not seeing them on my screen. Maybe adding some more features to impact the simulation, like tweaking feedrate or other variables with while the simulation is going would've been fun.
Very nice shooter game: I like the concept very much! It was quite engaging.
However, it was really hard to control my atom (it actually got esier aroud level 8 or 10). The atom was going so fast, and I couldn't turn properly... Also, I'm not quite sure of the 3d, since it's a top down game... It only got confusing for me when the molecule was up in the air...
I still really like the concept, the graphics and the feel of the game. Your choice of music really did made the game fun and action-paced. We actually chose that exact same track in a previous Ludum Dare, so I thought it was a funny coincidence. So in short: well thought game!
Ps. Thanks for the comment on our game! We're very sorry our game crashed... We didn't catch that bug when we playtested the game. Hopefully you still got to enjoyed the game before!
Reminded me of micromachine. But the controls were way too sensible: I kept doing 360 most of the time. I ended up leaving the track and just trying to get through checkpoint. I think that with more control, I'd be a good game (good graphics and music), but it was wayy too hard...
So at first I though it was a planetary systme management game. But the game itself is quite confusing: was it really what you tried to do? I just created three world, three trade route, and everything seemed fine... So there didn't seem to be much to it. I didn't see any technology either. I think it could be interesting with some more polishing, balance and some more guided gameplay.
The game was nice, good work on the graphics and the music! Really helped set up the mood.
However, I played on the web version and I had som problem with the Escapa to safety button. Everytime, I was stuck on the rocket: no controls were working and I had to reload the game... That a bummer because I really did enjoying it up till then.
Very solid little game. You really did an impressive job, considering you only put 10 hours in!
I loved the graphics: the microbe were very cute. I like that you didn't simply recolored and flipped everything: there were many little detail that changed from one microbe to another (like the eyes). Music and sound effect were good too.
Overall, the game felt very complete polished, so again: amazing for a 10-hour game. I'm curious to see what you can do with some more time!
The music was pretty good, and the overall idea is well fleshed out. I found mercury (which is recommended to add on the web page) to be too fast compared to the slow and slippery physics of the paddle. I liked the different abilities of the planet, especially earth's missile which were quite original. Good job!
Good puzzle game! It's a nice challenge to try and beat up other people score. It's actually quite difficult, and it your case, it's a very good thing!
It was hard to keep track of everything sometime, and it would have been nice if you could just replace a building, and the building that don't have the requierement would just be disable for a while (by making them a bit red-ish). Also, it'd be nice if you could place something without the requirement: helps keeping track of your idea.
That really was one the the best game I've played. Very neat concept: nice theming there! My only complaint is about the control: hitting space bar to jump and enter to shoot felt very unatural to me: why not w to jump and space to shoot?
Other than that, as I said, that was such a great entry. The graphics, while minimalist felt so polished. The black red and white made a retro feel and it was perfect. The choice of music was right on the spot: it made the game very engaging. And agin: I really love your idea with the rotating platformer. Well done!!
That was great! Very original and funny concept. The game is very simple, yet so interesting. The game is actually very well-thought and feels very polished.
Graphics are also very neat. The only thing is I'm not sure that I agree with the choice of music: It wasn't engaging enough I think. Still, that was a very solid game! Good job!
Cool little game: so simple, yet quite some fun in it! It was kind a hard still. But I see how this game could be very addictive with some more work.
It would need some music and sound effect to make it more engaging.
I really like the concept: I thought It was funny. I also really like the graphics! Good job!
Cute game. I always kept running out of food: so I guess you really have to know what you're doing right? Checkpoint helps a lot and keeps thing moving hopefully!
I had a hard time picking up fruit since I hab no pointer... maybe some kind of target would be good to see were you're at?
Would need som music, or at least some audio feedback, cause the game felt a bit flat without it. Nice effort!
Sorry that's too bad. I remember my first LD and it was a big rush. You'll get it next time!
Very nice little game. The graphics are really neat. Actually, everything in the game seems very polished. The controls and gameplay felt right on the spot.
I started playing and though: oh, this is nice, and then I got overwhelmed very rapidly. Some upgrades would be nice in the long run. Otherwise, there not much more to do after a while. That's actually my only (but quite important) criticism: the game is too simple, there is not much to it.
However, I insist that what is done is very well-thought and kinda amazing. I'd like to see what you can do with more time! Great work!
Very nice puzzle game. The level difficulty is on spot and the puzzle were simple yet challenging enough. I really enjoyed it.
I noticed quite late that untreated virus were still moving and treated ones weren't. Nice visual aid, but It would be better if it'd be more remarquable.
I like the colour palette, feels retro! The lines return while the text is displaying is a bit annoying as you chase the moving words with your eyes while reading. I had trouble aiming with the cannon as I tried to click where I wanted the bullet to go. Still got the planet without landing hardly any shots on the aliens. I liked how developed and interesting the characters where for such a short game. Good job!
Nice little game. I did play for a good while, wanting to buy everything. I love the fact that you made some kind of (random?) generator: it was more fun collecting ressources that way.
However, it was a little bit buggy: at some point, it acted as though "Z" was constantly pushed and I couldn't advance normally, si I had to stop. Also, I had some trouble with the collision on the edge: some seemed unatural. Some trees would get over some other also, even though they were supposed to be behind.
I think it be good if there were some different kind of trees, rocks and fishes, with maybe different life and value. Good work, and keep going!
The game felt quite polished and was very fun to complete. More diverse features such as different foods and moving stuff would be nice, but the core gameplay is solid and well done. I loved the music and the overall atmosphere. The stretching felt a bit weird at times, like when you stretch for long enough the cell wall you drag suddenly becomes very thin and you can lasso food without really "engulfing" it. But very nice job!
Ok, I figured it out! At first, I wasn't sure there were much to it, but after reading your How to play, I got it.
Nice short story. Music made the game feel very mysterious. I enjoyed it and got into the game quite fast. You should use a bigger font I think. I love the little ghost. Godd idea to make the world a triangle. It works well with the theme.
Good job!
The graphics were really good and the the music too, but the game itself was really not for me... Your physic is really lacking: there's not enough friction, so it's very hard to control your player. Sometime I would get throught the platform from below, sometimes not. Also, I'm not a fan of games where you can't go backward, especially for not apparent reason other than respect the LD theme: a giant wall of flame or semthing would help.
Also, some sound effect would be nice: it would be more engaging.
Your music is gorgeous. Really helped creating a strong atmosphere.
The graphics are very pretty also. I was wondering: why vould the right wing flip when you turn sideway? It felt a bit weird...
The gameplay was a bit too simple for me though: the sidescrolling part was too long.
Nice game! I completed it in about 15min. I found the inventory space to be a bit lacking and the meat drop rate to be very high compared to what you need. The hitting range was pretty long too, I could hit zombies through the walls. A bit of animation when hitting would've added a nice touch to the otherwise well made main character. Good job on your game!
Good job on this game! I had fun crushing worlds around space. The controls are quite finicky, I had trouble falling back down on a planet without getting out of the gravity circle. It would be nice to get a bit more time or to have a winning condition, but maybe I'm just not good enough to sustain myself indefinitely. The sound/music was nice but I felt like the monster's voice could use a bit of work. But overall very well done!
Very nice game. At wave 8? or 9? I got kinda overwhelmed and I couldn't keep up. I'm not sure about what agility does: maybe I put too much or too few points in it. Anyway, I really liked your game! Good job! The first wave felt very balanced!
Nice puzzle game! Very original concept. The last puzzle were quite challenging!
If given more time, you should work on the UI: It would be nice if you did'nt have to select the same type of tile multiple tile. And also if you could see wich tile you placed yourself (with like a black border), and they stuck after you've hit play.
Still I really enjoyed it!
Great game! The concept is well executed and fun. I found that the base soldier was as good/better than the other options considering its cost, so there is no incentive to diversify your army which is too bad. The music was repetitive but still very nice. A few sound effects (globe exploding for example) would add to the game. I had a bug where when my army came back from a globe, sometimes some soldiers wouldnt stop moving right and fall down my globe to their death. The fact that you can put down soldiers in the pit when you buy them is funny but may be frustrating to people wasting costly units by accident. Great game overall!
Nice game! Took me a while to get how to hurt the dome.
Good concept, it was quite engaging. It gets really insane at the end (when the dome is low). I ended up blowing up the city myself... I think some music would be nice.
I really enjoyed it: well done!
Ps.: thanks for the comment on our game! And well, you really did miss something at the end: there was a treasure to be found (not just some rocks). That's too bad for you I guess! ;)
Cool game! I like the mechanics of changing my hand position on the keyboard. I didn't get what i needed to do at first because I didn't notice the message on the left changed after the first pillar was completed. I kept pressing all the keys at random and thought the key mapping was broken xD. Maybe just a small animation or change in color would attract the eyes on the message. I enjoyed the music as it fitted very well with the game visuals. Some SFX on input would have added quite a lot to the rhythm of the game.
I also did a game in python using pygame! If you want to check it, it's over there: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/gnome-digger
I used pyInstaller too to package into a single .exe. I wrote a detailed answer on how I did it at: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28033003/pyinstaller-with-pygame/36456473#36456473 I found the existing documentation quite incomplete and obscure so I wanted to share. I think the "ressource_path" function suggested by the blog post is very tedious to call each time you have a path. My solution was to only add:
``` if getattr(sys, 'frozen', False): os.chdir(sys._MEIPASS) ``` at the beggining of my code to set the relative directory to the correct place and everything worked great.
So good job on your game, it's great to see other users of pygame!
Neat idea. However, the web version seems to be lagging a bit somehow...
Some of the puzzle felt not that intuitive: I didn't know what I was supposed to do. Also, it felt weird that the box wasn't in 3D, but the wall were... Some of the text was also hard to read.
The graphics and the music created a spacy-lonely-mysterious mood: good job.
Great job. I loved the graphics and the music very much. With the story and all, it really felt as though you're in a bowl and dreaming.
The game felt really polished: the bouncing off the walls was a nice touch.
I also really loved the concept: I thought it was very creative. So all in all: godd work!
Haha I had a good bit of fun with this game. The graphics are decent but could use a bit of polish. I feel like the player's hitbox was clear enough to dodge with confidence. I could get through the last phase of the boss, but that might just be me needing more practice. Good job overall!
Fun concept! Having a sound effect when using your thrusters would be a great additions! I liked the other SFX, very retro feel. The controls are adequate, finicky but responsive (I liked the sharp U turn when you keep a button pressed). I discovered that you could wrap around the map only in the last stage, it would be a good information to put on the page. Good job overall!
Very nice game! I liked the graphics, it fit very well with the story. The fade-in transitions also fit very well with the beautiful art style and mood of the game. I liked how you reward the player for winning the game, it was very cute. Great job!
Nice game! I liked the tutorial page at the launch, very helpful. The sound effects are nice and welcome. The fact that you keep going forward needs some adaptation, like when you try to shoot the enemy planet. Maybe a slow down button would be a nice middle ground. The right click was very strong but I was pleased to see that a nicely balanced cooldown was in place. Good job overall!
Very atmospheric game, I liked it. The tutorial voice was a tad weird and could've used subtitles. The Telepad mechanic fit well with the environment. I found a bug where when you spam the left then right mouse button you just die. Which was unpleasant indeed xD. I'm not sure why but I didn't really get the goal of the game. I wandered a while collecting crystals. But overall solid entry.
The intro with the candy bringing the buttons in from the side was a pleasant start. I suggest posting your controls on the game page, as I had to leave the game and reboot it to click on the Controls button in the menu to learn how to play. I also like breakfast. The story has a good length for a game made in such a short time. I like how the characters were well developed. I got stuck after the first ending and had to close the game. A restart of the story after a few seconds would have been better to keep people playing. I enjoyed the game overall!
Great graphics with smooth animation. The buttons where a bit buggy: the Move Right and Move Left buttons dissapear if you press them in a certain order. A sound effect or visual effect to acknowledge the button press would help too, especially for the safe. I couldn't crack the safe, I found a date but I'm not sure what to do with it, no combination works and I sadly gave up. A bit of spelling check would help the intro a good amount. Great atmosphere with the music. Good job on this game!
