The game is super fun, and it really pretty. The humour in the game fantastic. It is very difficult to catch the cows, and perhaps a bit too difficult. But overall a great game.

I feel like I'm missing something. I lasso the cows, and then they fly around for a second, and then they go back to the cow-cloud. I tried dragging them back to the planet, but they don't seem to react to my movement, just fly around on their own a sec before returning to the cloud. Is there some control I'm missing?
Hi, I didn't have the time to make a complete tutorial, sorry. After you lasso the cowmet you have to chase it down until it stops (the lariat turns green). Thank you for the feedback!
Amazing, words can not describe I never seen a game like this before, it will make an excellent #ldjam38 game for the collection. 5/5.

This game is the best ludum dare game I ever played. It has the best graphics, audio and gameplay. The only problem that I encountered is that you can still lasso a captured cowmet but other than that this game is great. 10/10
I have now also rated your game.
Awesome game! A bit frustrating but I need to watch some other people play it now to see if I'm just really dumb or if it is a bit frustrating. It took me a while to get three cowmets and then I broke the game so I gave up for now :)
My playthrough (with game breaking): https://youtu.be/-72c4B0jZhs
I love this game. The quality is incredible for a 72 hour game jam. I would love to see this expanded.
Great job and polish as always, Nick! Amazing visuals. Like some of the other commenters, I found it quite challenging to capture some of those cowmets. It's not easy being a space cowboy. I love the humor and unique innovation in this game. Well done!
Very funny and looking very polished! The music is great and I love that it changes once your'e onto a cowmet. Tho when you actually catch it there is no real indicator to that, a sound cue or text/symbol popup could have clarified that. The legendary cowmets were surprisingly easy to catch. I walked around the planet and explored a bit, would be cool if there was a little something there, hidden. Amazing job all in all!
Really cool and more importantly fun idea for a game. I loved being a Space Cowboy chasing down those rare Cowmets! I also like the fact that you have a fully functional gameplay loop, heck even an intro! :cow:
I love a good pun. When my LD teammate suggested me to try Cowmets, I knew I was in for a treat. Now that I've become a space cowboy with 3 legendary cowmets on my custody, I still want more. Just don't tell the people I got lost while exploring the tiny planet. Such an embarrassment :P
The game is fun and simple enough, and very intuitive. I actually lost track of the first cow I tried to catch, but I nailed it from the second one. Not much to it, but the choice of music and the constant movement made it way more enjoyable than it could have been otherwise. Thus, the game has a great presentation.
From the graphics standpoint, I also rate this one highly. I'm the art guy of our team, and I like seeing what others did in this regard with their time. 3D is something very alien to me, and I usually tend to assume that stuff done in 72 hours should be simplistic and rushed. Then, stuff like Cowmets prove me wrong. The characters look more than fine, and the models have a very fitting aesthetic. I jiggled whenever I saw the round horse. Kudos for making something that's not only functional, but also memorable.
If I could leave some feedback for the future, should you decide to further enhance this game, it'd be to add more features while keeping the game's core mechanics mostly intact. I mean, I found the game somewhat easy, even with the hardest cows (I mean, I'm no expert, but I read the previous comments of people saying it was too hard, and I just don't see that). Maybe, say, add upgrades or power ups or something for speed boosts or better lassos, or a time limit, or hazards or something. Maybe even more types of cowmets, and allow the player to see their collection and what not.
All in all, I don't think I could be any more satisfied. Kudos for making something this fun in so little time. I'm looking forward to see what you can come up with next! :whale:
Fun game, despite me being unable to catch a single cowmet. Perhaps I should just spend some more time training .
Graphics are awesome and so is the sound, especially the music that plays when you're chasing the cowmet :joy:. I'm glad I found this one through random game finder! Keep up the good work!
Go cows! :cow:
Haha this is adorable. It looks and feels very well polished and the music fits perfectly.
Although right now I only have a track pad so I couldn't really play it properly. I will update this post when I can.
Nicest looking game so far. Fun and easy gameplay. Music fits perfectly. All around amazing game especially for a game made in 72 hours.
This is really really good. I have no suggestions to improve it, nothing bad to say and I want to finish this review so I can go play it again.
Charming art, funny characters, great music, better transitions from planet to space than no man's sky, and freakin' cows.
Superb entry, my highest rated yet.
This one is a masterpiece, it's fun to play, even tho still bit buggy, buy oh boy, I can't believe u done this one in 72 hours, you must have worked hard on this one. Well done!
The only game I have rated FULL STARS for every single category. Totally loved it! I cannot believe you have created this only in few days. It is awesome, cute, damn funny, and boy, I will not talk about the music! It rocks! I cannot say in word how much I (and my girlfriend) enjoyed it.
As said freyby - you did a masterpiece. Hilarious. Great mood with a pleasant background music which fits the theme. I would like to know how you did the lasso. Efficient mechanics. A great entry ++
Very neat game. I caught the red flame cow!!! I like how it was more difficult than the other. I also explored the small planet to see if you had placed some Easter eggs but didn't find any. Overall a very solid submission, great work!
My Game is HTML5 too, Please feel free to rate my game if you have time [Not So Small (HTML5)](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/not-so-small)
Neat game with really impressive art for a jam, took me a few tries to figure out how to lasso a cowmet; wasn't sure if I needed to touch them or herd them to the planet or what (and I picked one of the rares to start I think without realizing). The camera seemed way too easy to move around at first but after playing more I realized why it had to be that way; might be rough for people sensitive to motion sickness :D
There seemed to be some hitches at least in the web player version which could be a bit frustrating (hitching while trying to catch one of the red cows was nearly a guaranteed escape for them).
- Score 4540 caught legendary ,2 rare in first attempt .. - music , Art, and gameplay +10 for every thing . - i enjoyed a lot . - was curious to know that was i the only one who just presed the mouse right button when i was chasing cows ???
lol! It was nice! I catched two legendary!
My opinion about this game:
Good: - Funny game - Jokes - Funny character design, "cowalicious" some people will say ;). Look at my horse, my horse is amazing! - Good music that put you in the cowboys mood, yihaaa!
Bad: - The web version in fullscreen is unplayable, the lag is too damn high! - The cows supposed to be hard or very hard aren't hard enough. Also, the game needs some challenge, like a timer (you have to get your six cowmets in 2 minutes for example) - The dialog is a bit too fast, no auto-skip would have been better - I targeted and shooted an already captured cow. The game acted like if it was a wild cow, but my gun was blocked on this cow and I wasn't able to target anything else. So ... look at my horse.png
This is just phenomenal.
This is a pretty good game! It's rare to see a 3D game with quite polished graphics. I liked the humor of it and the country music that fit very well with the game. I had trouble at the beginning as I tried to fire with left/right click while walking around on foot on the planet and thought my game was bugged. I finally understood that the round thing in the pen was a horse and not a cow xD. Maybe put an arrow over it to guide the player, or maybe I'm just bad. I had a good time playing your game!
Wow this was incredibly polished. I think this is the best game I've played in LD38 so far. I have to rave about a bunch of specific things before I go into the generals: - The character art fit so well. They look like they're from some strange universe where wrangling spherical cows is the norm, and I love it. - The feedback for player input (i.e when you enter "aim mode", a little sound plays and the reticule rotates a little) was fantastically done. It makes it feel so polished. - The spherical animal art was hilarious, as well as the moos of the cows when you eventually wrangle them. - I love how there are different "Grades" of cows. Once I learned that there were "rare cowmets", my insatiable thirst for rare cowmet blood made me hunt them exclusively (until I captured them all). - The game controls so smoothly. I love the way the aiming works, where the reticule turns green for a potentially-successful shot. Chasing down the cows was very satisfying, and the music change fit really well.
Amazing job. Such a ridiculously polished game for a gamejam.
Very polished game, the graphics are really nice, the game is fun, innovative and the controls are fluent! Good job! The design of the game is well done and it easy for a new player to grasp how to play! Good job!
Just tried playing the game through the gamejolt site on my Ubuntu laptop and it kept crashing my browser. Not sure if it is my setup, the site, or the game. Just figured I would mention it encase other Linux gamers notice the same behavior.
@wareification thank you for the feedback! Have you tried to run the Linux build?
Hello, I got a little seasick from the chasing part of the game, so maybe a smoother camera follow would have been better? But I really liked the graphics!
Its a really fun game! I love the cows are so cute and funny hahaha. The idea its really good too.
Maybe the camera its a little bit dizzy.
Well, this is awesome. Great game, all around.
Pretty fun and really outstanding, best polish I've probably ever seen in this Ludum Dare. Like this looks like it was created by a team in months, awesome work. I found the lasso trail pretty satisfying. The gameplay felt a little lacking in depth (probably just me), I realized you don't have to worry about catching up with the cow, only staying within range for a certain amount of time matters. I personally found it a bit too easy after a couple of cow(met)s for this reason, but it seems most actually found it too hard haha. There should probably be a mouse sensitivity option in a future update also. Other than that the game is so fun and polished; knocked it out of the park! :D
Best space cowboy ever! Super unique gameplay and great art!~ For catching the legendary cowmets, window mode is much easier than fullscreen.
I hope there is a lifelong job like this. :joy:
This was awesome! The graphics and the overall polish of the game is top notch, congrats!
This is one of those games that deserve 5 stars and be on top 100. Amazing game with awesome graphics. Soundtrack and sound effects are perfect and the game looks and feels very polished. Congrats and good job!
It's really new idea and beautiful implementation. Art and sound is very good! Great job!
Yee haw, that was a darn good game y'all! But seriously, amazing concept, the graphics and the whole theme really worked well together and overall this was an amazingly fun and well made game! The mechanics were actually very clever, especially the chasing part! Moving the mouse around so much made the chasing really fun and exciting! Even if you didn't make the music, it was well worth it to use such great music that fits the theme of your game and makes it even more funny and whimsical! Your game is definitely one of the best I've encountered so far, and I'll be really upset if you don't end up in the top 100. Congratulations and well done!!
This was really super fun to play! I think one of my favorite design choices was the fact that there was nothing stopping you from picking your difficulty at any point, and for someone who hasn't read through the whole game description, you couldn't tell at first which was easy and which was not. So a really stubborn player could really keep trying that red cow, or give up and decide to try another one. Having that freedom as a player was really cool (as opposed to being forced to capture the easy ones before the red ones appear).
Also I love that "cowlicious" was the only graphics option XD
I think one thing that was a little confusing was exactly what it took to successfully catch a cowmet. At first I thought I just had to reach it, but it seems to be more timebased, like I just have to be within a certain range of it for a certain amount of time? It was a little hard to tell so I wasn't sure whether it was my fault that I couldn't capture the red cowmet, or if I was just doing it wrong.
Wow, this was so fun! It was super hard to catch the red cows, though. The graphics were, of course, cowalicious. Good job!
Really dialed in and smooth.
critique: I would like to have different ways to "pull" the cowmets, and have more of an indication of how well I'm doing. Sometimes I'd be at a close range for a while and I couldn't tell if I was pulling them closer to me. Overall really fun and original.Good Job!
