LD35 — Shapeshift

Arnold Stallion's Pump or Die by arzi 2016-04-19T19:53:00

Nice graphics, gameplay worked, enjoyed flexing a lot!

Not sure about your alt control scheme though, z/x/c is right under WASD and a bit of a nightmare to use (big hands).

Would flex again!

Really liked the graphics and the concept! I had a few minor problems with getting stuck on the scenery.

Really good visual style, liked the transitional effects between the levels!

Not sure you should have considered yourself for rating in audio when the main sound is a Kevin MacLeod track?

Gets pretty frantic with 3 portals, couldn't work out whether the best strategy is to let the enemies build up to shut them quicker, or try and clear the screen! These are fun decisions to make!

Well done!

Trial of Sacrifice by LoHii 2016-04-20T19:17:00

Really interesting! Looked great, the blowpipe is fun, the attack pattern where it splits up is a massive pain though.

Kind of like a Mayan 'Devil Daggers'?...

Good interpretation of the theme and quite a lot of game made for the jam, with good progression. I particularly liked the art for the walking enemies.

THEY CANNOT DIE by Mango Malarkey 2016-04-20T19:50:00

Interesting concept for a top down shooter/tower defence game! My main criticism was that the towers I were dropping didn't seem to help me much, but the immortal enemies were an interesting take.

Fun shooter! I managed to spot the ammo boxes in the end, would have been really great if they were a different colour and easier to find - also if they weren't so stingy on the amount of ammo they give you...

Last in Time by lonesurvivor 2016-12-19T21:50:00

It looks great, really liked the music as well. Great ideas and atmosphere and I would have loved to have found out more about what was going on, but I just couldn't finish it. Couldn't find any f**l for the c******w (not too well disguised there). In that way, it's very classic as a point and click (I always got stuck on monkey island as well)!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Freeze & Crush by levubivenatus 2016-12-14T19:19:00

I had a lot of fun with this! Very cathartic. Looks good, the time stopping mechanic is well implemented.

My recommendation: Play while listening to metal. Great for relieving stress after work.

Would have loved to be able to work towards some sort of goal, but what you have implemented is great.

Well done! Thanks for sharing.

Shoot inside a room is DANGEROUS by Neowedge 2016-12-14T21:33:00

Really like the ricocheting bullet physics and the way the guns blast you back. The graphics where consistent, but sorry I found the sound quite annoying.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Don't Stop You! by Kevin_B 2016-12-18T13:08:00

A tough little game! An interesting take on the theme, definitely creates tension having the pace of the game set by the movement of the conveyor belt.

Areas to continue to work on would be the momentum of the controls (which can get a bit slippery) and the time it takes to get back into the platforming if you die (it's a bit too long).

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Claustrophobia by JOrbits 2016-12-14T21:23:00

Really interesting!

First - areas for improvement - even once you've got the hang of the placing and the rotation, it's sometimes a bit tough to tell where you are placing objects, some of the colours looked a bit similar to me, and it would have been nice to have a slightly longer music loop as you could be playing for quite a bit.

That said, after I got the hang of it and reset, I actually played for quite a while longer than I intended to, because I was really having fun. It's a really good take on a tetris-like game.

Really glad I got to play this! Well done and thanks for sharing!

Mine Escape by Frantos 2016-12-14T20:40:00

Good, creepy sound (would have been nice to have a slightly longer loop - as you could spend quite a while in the game), it was fun hunting down the monsters, but it was quite tough to find the chests.

Got a few nice tense moments, when I only had a couple of knives and the monsters are bearing down on you. Didn't find one of the chests in the end, but managed to find the code - phew, I escaped!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

The Odd Inn by Gabriel Bucsan 2016-12-14T21:48:00

Interesting idea! Is there a way to dump a drink if you've made it by accident? I did that at one point and had to play with one slot full for a while.

Otherwise, looks great, good effort on the sound as well.

Well done! Thanks for sharing!

JamBear by samt2510 2016-12-14T19:47:00

A *really* great looking game. Nice sound, nice concept, solid mechanics.

My areas for feedback would be that the 'letterbox' aspect ratio is slightly frustrating in a vertically scrolling game, would have been nice to see a bit more - I think this is what makes it so hard - can't really see enemies above you until it's too late (especially that ghost - damn him!) - or if you miss a jump, you have no time to recover because the play space is so restricted? Can make it feel ever so slightly unfair.

On the whole though, a really solid entry, you should all be very proud!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Muto Locus by mechagk 2016-12-18T14:49:00

Fun game! Lots to compliment, fun animations, good ramp of difficulty and escalation/variation on each obstacle before introducing the next one. Liked the animations for the different objects being switched out of the rooms and good work for having an instant respawn.

Would have loved some more sound effects, but on the whole very good.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

For Whom The Bear Roars by caryoscelus 2016-12-18T12:08:00

Interesting! Good work producing an intro video as well as the game. I must admit I was a bit lost about what I was supposed to be doing... I understand that the outcomes to your choices might be a bit more complex than 'good' and 'bad' - but a bit of feedback to know that you were advancing might be nice? Or maybe not, perhaps that's the point!

Well, you definitely made me think - so good work, thanks for sharing your game, well done!

Room for Improvement by Recursiveanomaly 2016-12-14T19:32:00

Really interesting interpretation of the theme, liked the static graphics, made it feel like a board game (in a good way).

Found the combat a little bit confusing - overall though, great work! Well done, thanks for sharing!

Me, Myself And The Room by Artylo 2016-12-14T21:58:00

Really interesting! Found it tough to get past the title screen, after that I enjoyed myself.

You did a good job with the voice acting and the low-key music. Definitely fit the theme and I quite liked the aesthetics as well.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

The Library by Stending 2016-12-14T20:12:00

Very good looking, coherent art style, good music, solid game play.

Found it very tough to follow the notes when switching to the next page and it would have been so good to have some sort of score/% of notes hit at the end of a song, so I could replay and try and do better!

On the whole though, fantastic, really well polished presentation, a complete little package.

Well done! Thanks for sharing!

Doom Tomb of the True Room by Flatgub 2016-12-18T16:56:00

Tough game! Good graphics and sound. Like the touches like the bloodstains after you've been spiked/smushed. Would be good to have a bit more of a difficulty ramp up into the hard bits (introducing the moving saw blade things and stuff) but I understand the LD time constraints for that kind of thing!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Panic room by Smiley 2016-12-14T22:06:00

Fun game, good ramp of difficulty, nice graphics. Would be nice to have some more tools to get out of a tough spot as it gets harder, some sort of smartbomb equivalent?

Thanks for sharing, well done!

Ultra Violet Humanoids by seano 2016-12-18T12:41:00

I quite like the aesthetic of this, the sound, music and graphics make me think of some sort of lost Atari game (but with much more animations).

Some of the hit/hurt boxes can seem a bit wonky at times - and the music/atmosphere sound could get a bit repetitive - but you definitely achieved a a game with frantic melee combat - there a lot of ways you could continue to develop this (which is very promising).

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Feather Gladiator by Garris 2016-12-14T21:00:00

I actually really had fun with this! I found the controls pretty responsive and intuitive, and liked the sound.

Would love to see more enemies to mix it up further.

There's a fun game here, well done and thanks for sharing!

EscapeJam by Kalm004 2016-12-14T21:10:00

It's great to see a bilingual game! It was a little tough to understand what was a 'good' and 'bad' choice, but it was fun to find out what game I made at the end.

¡Bien hecho! Thanks for sharing!

The Mini-Man 3D by adrian09_01 2016-12-14T20:49:00

A different take on the theme! Clean graphics, clear goals.

Found the characters 'single step' (if you just tap a movement key) to be quite big? Could just be me - made me fall off quite a bit, but i'm willing to admit I could just suck.

Found the music loop a little bit grating, but on the whole, great effort!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Bugroom by erik 2016-12-18T14:42:00

Really ambitious for a LD game (I approve!), all the ingredients of a fun RTS are there, loads of room to continue to develop it if you wanted.

Would be great to be able to have a bit more control over the guards (they kept wondering off), but on the whole, really good.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

The Changing Room by Mr.Chippy 2016-12-18T13:18:00

Fun game! Like the constraints you introduced for yourself with the constant room size. Fun graphics, good escalation of difficulty.

You could definitely continue to expand on this idea.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Orb Room by ZpeedTube 2016-12-18T14:56:00

Interesting! I liked the way more elements of the 2nd level were introduced as you progressed through it. I didn't find it too had (but I love a puzzle platformer, even in 3d) and thought new elements were introduced at quite a good pace.

A few issues with collisions, got a bit stuck on the side of a few objects at points and it would have been good to have some more sounds.

On the whole, really good work, I had fun playing.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

CatChaseZero by donvermo 2016-12-18T12:27:00

Damn those mice, stealing my cheese.

I liked the graphics, I particularly liked the idle pose for the cat (where it sits down), a nice touch. The music was very authentic for an arcade game. Good work also taking the time to put together an intro.

I think the area to work on would be when you get down to just a couple of bits of cheese? It's possible to just sit on them and grab the mice as they come to you - some sort of escalation at this point would be good.

On the whole a fun game! Well done, thanks for sharing!

MFBFS by pixelpotions 2016-12-18T13:43:00

Played this for quite a while, an interesting concept, pushing your luck to get as many crystals as possible then escaping, good idea.

Like the graphics and the sound.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Sweet Dreams by TheTeaGuns 2016-12-18T15:09:00

A very sweet game. Firstly, areas I would love to see improve - the controls are quite awkward, it would be great to have some more sound effects and some more feedback that you are hurting the knights.

Now my many compliments, it looks fantastic, animations are nice, the music was incredibly well suited, the concept is really inventive, the mood is excellent (particularly the baby's dream - terrifying, how could you!) and the simple little narrative is genuinely beautiful.

Very well done, thanks for sharing!

Kitchen Defender Ants Attack! by KunoNoOni 2016-12-19T21:30:00

My favourite part was the Megadrive-esqe music which changed with each wave, very authentic. Gameplay was solid, everything worked - personally I would have like a cross-hair to line up my shots, but I understand if that was a specific design decision.

Screw those ants!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

RoomEscapeEscape by ijona 2016-12-18T12:53:00

Thanks god, finally I am free.

I fun experiment, I actually smiled quite a bit as I explored. Definitely for me captured the confusion of trying to play an escape room game.

Would love to see even more interactions and voice lines (they were fun).

You are insignificant - NES GAME by team_disposable 2016-12-14T20:00:00

I died in squalor, but screw you Quacking Jack.

Massive respect for doing something interesting (in this case coding for NES). I actually quite liked the tiny graphics - would have loved a bit of classic NES sound (though i'm asking for this with no idea of how tough it would be to implement).

Found the hitbox and jump a little bit frustrating - but to be honest, that made it feel quite authentic to me!

Well done! Thanks for sharing!

cubica woo by image/31 2016-12-18T12:33:00

An interesting game, really good looking - clean and clear graphics and I liked the audio a lot as well.

Think I got the hang of the game eventually, I think the main are for improvement would be the AI of the opponents. They seem a bit stupid and kill themselves constantly, meaning you are playing more against yourself than them.

With a bit of refinement, it could be really good - could particularly see it working as a frantic multiplayer game.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

LD38 — A Small World

Signal? by voxel 2017-05-10T18:03:19Z

The Adventurer Davidson by Hlavik 2017-05-10T18:09:02Z

Good looking game with an interesting core concept! Found that I had a few problems with hitboxes on the hazards and because i'm playing with the keyboard, it would be really good to be able to restart with the keyboard when I die.

An interesting idea! Liked the easy to grasp gameplay - but thought that eventually the difficulty ramps up a bit far and you end up shooting a lot of your own cells trying to defend them (maybe kind of the point - but I still had to try and keep them alive).

Gaia by PowerSpark 2017-05-08T19:39:59Z

Really good looking game with a fun core concept. It's probably just me, but I really struggled with the controls - not really being able to get the clouds to go where I wanted to! Great atmosphere though.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Enlightenment by XenosNS 2017-05-10T19:40:55Z

Like the art, music and overall atmosphere a lot. The core mechanic is very interesting, but is very punishing - I mean by that, that if the player is bad, you are then punished with no visibility, making it even harder to find what you are looking for. The 'pick stuff up to see more' thing is a good idea though.

Spider Collider by mooncalf 2017-05-08T20:07:50Z

Absolutely love the vector-style graphics, as well as the music and the sound, really cool. As with others, I cheesed my way though the whole thing by hammering space - but - I did get through the whole thing because of the way it looked and sounded.

ANTIVIRUS by KappaIX 2017-05-07T10:11:52Z

Massive thanks to everyone who has played and commented so far! I appreciate the positive comments (a lot), but I also really welcome the criticisms - trust me, no one knows the flaws in this as well as me!

I'm going to try and take the time to play all your games as well.

Be brutal and thanks for playing.

ANTIVIRUS by KappaIX 2017-05-07T10:13:51Z

Also @meronsoda - Nope - I did not see your custom mouse coming at all! You win the 'innovative ways to break the game wide open award' - congrats! Thanks for the other critique as well - much appreciated.

Cell Division by steve 2017-05-08T19:21:13Z

Great looking game and fun concept.

The mouse movement is good for aiming but not so much for moving - also thought that the shooting feels a bit inaccurate? But that might just be the way the rockets fly out (which looks really cool by the way).

Really interesting. Well done, thanks for sharing!

Evolve by Rudra Nil Basu 2017-05-08T19:33:20Z

Great looking game with a good core concept - really feel like the camera is main thing holding it back? As soon as you get out of the small circle, you can't really see anything going on (and when the enemies explode, the camera kind of pulls towards them). Liked the sound effects that were in the game a lot, a bit of music would go a long way I reckon.

Gnome Digger by bobsleigh 2017-05-06T17:52:19Z

Always a fan of the classic Motherload style gameplay! The first pickaxe is a bit slow, which I think makes it tough to get into at the beginning, but things pick up when you can get a drill.

Neuroso by gamechoy 2017-05-10T18:30:21Z

I like your ambition a lot - good looking game, nice sound and music. Found some of the gameplay a bit frustrating - you have to be really on point in the first level to stay ahead of [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS] and in the second level the spikes are really tough to see.

Blackhole Escape INC by teekeks 2017-05-01T17:43:08Z

Good atmosphere and stylish art. Really struggled with the controls, just couldn't get my head round them!

Well done! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Koffer by pragmascript 2017-05-06T17:30:08Z

Really interesting, I like the opening and the 'tilt-shift' camera type effect. Couldn't quite work out the scoring, but enjoyed watching the ivy growing!

Little Remains by nilead 2017-05-01T17:08:18Z

Really liked it, great looking, nice sounds and great atmosphere. It was sometimes difficult to work out where I could go - but I managed to finish it.

Little Worlds! And a pixel by Luis_Antonio 2017-05-06T18:29:14Z

Cute game! Obviously short, but everything that was there worked well - nice ending as well!

LOST PLANET(oid) by mrnyarlathotep 2017-05-01T17:36:40Z

Nice little world - I couldn't finish it though - just couldn't find one of the items (last on the right of the inventory?).

Either way, I was having fun exploring to see what was around - the controls remind me of Smash TV (which I played a lot of on the Megadrive) - so got the hang of it. Just the delay between hitting space and actually firing feels a little bit sluggish?

Well done! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Little Space by KevTukk 2017-05-10T18:42:05Z

Good entry, it's got a nice coherent look to it and some cool music. A bit more teaching of how to play, and some feedback when hitting the interceptor button would be great, I might be stupid, but I didn't make the connection between the blue ships and the button very quickly!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Mr. Smith by unoion 2017-05-08T19:59:30Z

It's a really strong core idea (and looks good). The controls are reeeeealy tough to get the hand of - it's quite hard to find the point between jumping right on the edge, and turning the corner so you fly off into space, and you're punished a lot for small mistakes.

On the whole though, really glad I got the chance to play it. With more time, you could develop it a lot.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Sandelipe Boxenan by MestreRothLD 2017-05-06T17:25:09Z

Cool idea! Coherent looking, I like the 'light', fun atmosphere as well. I can't for the life of me work out a strategy to get my population very high? Should I be feeding the predators? Trying to keep them away from the little ones? Not sure - but had a lot of fun trying to work it out. Like the ranking at the end as well!

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Invaders of Yekithar by skippuku 2017-05-10T18:36:22Z

Good entry, bonus points for a chunky gun with screen shake and knockback! Graphics and sound were fun - I think you were a bit stingy with the platforms (they're really small). Had a lot of fun blasting aliens.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Planetoid Escape by shockeye 2017-05-06T18:03:55Z

The core idea definitely works, zipping around a tiny planet to get enough fuel for you ship. There's lots of stuff you could do with the idea - well done on getting your first LD finished!

The Life Amoebic by Baby Dino Herd 2017-05-08T19:54:16Z

I actually really enjoyed this. Very relaxing. Found the controls quite weird... but you are an amoeba.

My favourite parts were the sound, particularly the little tinkling noise when eating things.

Really well done! Thanks for sharing!

The Land We Must Take (La Terre qu'il nous faut conquérir) by kavehes 2017-05-01T17:25:48Z

I'm playing on my own, but played the two player mode against myself. Took me a while to work out what I was supposed to be doing - but once I got it, I can really see the game in there!

I really like the look of it reckon you could definitely build on this as well if you wanted too.

Well done! Thanks for sharing!

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-01T17:54:49Z

The time you put into the music paid off - it definitely drives the game. Otherwise, it's got a nice coherent style.

Strangeness by philomory 2017-05-08T18:46:23Z

Interesting entry! I quite liked the graphics and sound, gave me the feeling of an old PC demo disk of the front of a magazine (ah, nostalgia). I think the main area for improvement would be to try and communicate some of the mechanics better? For example, it took me a while to realise I could push rocks - so rather than trying to work out the solution to the puzzle I couldn't continue till I walked into the right area of the environment.

On the whole though, enjoyed myself. Thanks for sharing, well done!

Wandering Planet by jlet 2017-05-10T18:19:39Z

An interesting idea - I also had trouble because ctrl does weird things in my browser. Got quite a big cluster of planets though! As it starts to zoom out the background made me feel a bit sick and you can't see the asteroids very well.

Well done, thanks a lot for sharing!

Be Like Bee by athomicus 2017-05-10T18:48:31Z

Fun entry! The bee was quite big on the minimap, and I didn't even know I had a timer - but I did enjoy flying around a bit hunting down flowers.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Hexoworld 9999 by Lugdumdare Team 2017-05-01T17:16:01Z

I really liked the way the planet deforms as it gets attacked - definitely interesting. It also takes a while to get going, but once you get some power ups, it's fun. Sometimes slightly frustrating because you can't control your aiming that well?

Well done! Thanks a lot for sharing!

World Collector by TomBishopSPG 2017-05-16T19:21:05Z

A very interesting and original concept! I liked the core of the gameplay and i'm a sucker for chiptune soundtracks - found it a little tough to work out what I was doing wrong when trying to defend my drills/shrinkers, so a little more direction would be good.

Well done! Thanks for sharing!

Tiny Venture by faemir 2017-05-06T17:45:37Z

Interesting game! I was doing ok on health, harvesting and water, but I couldn't work out how to get more oxygen, so I died... Liked the graphics and eerie music as well.

Thanks a lot for sharing, well done!

A Mote in the Dark by Kirenio 2017-05-10T19:32:57Z

Interesting game - I really like the monochromatic art style, the mood/music and the 'linking' mechanic. You can see the work you put into the mechanics - but none of your big description really translates into gameplay? Ultimately, it boils down to 'click on stuff as fast as possible' with the main strategy being timing about when you click on the other orbs.

Overall a really interesting idea. Well done, thanks for sharing!

The Curious Adventures of Ant, the Inebriated Ant by tdennist 2017-05-16T19:11:19Z

I think I enjoyed this a whole lot more than I should have! The flailing ant was very fun. I particularly liked the horizontal levels with water and the lillypads - and the levels with a lot of vertical obstacles - I found you can get a lot of momentum going. The areas to improve would be sound, graphics, etc - but I genuinely had fun and played till the end.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

The Dark Castle by Joror 2017-12-06T21:04:49Z

On the whole I was really impressed by the depth of options and the overall quality of the writing. Few typos and rough areas, but it was an ambitious task for a Jam and I think you pulled it off.

Well done!

SHADOW by niwraD 2017-12-06T20:11:38Z

Thanks for sharing your game!

I really the graphics and art style - and like the shifting concept. Like others have said, I found it very hard - and I think that's mostly because it's hard to understand what form the game 'wants' you to be in at any time?

Well done!

Trapped by PoundTheGroundStudios 2017-12-06T21:26:21Z

Interesting game! I did like the overall atmosphere - very hostile. Couldn't strafe? Not sure if that's a bug, or intentional, but it felt very strange.

Well done!

Stranded alone by BluesyPompanno 2017-12-06T21:14:35Z

Interesting game - would have been great to have more visual/audio feedback to know when you are damaging enemies/crystals and the music loop is a little bit short, making it repetitive. Did enjoy kiting around a big horde of enemies though.

Well done!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Circuitry by Jesper Fyhr Knudsen 2018-04-26T19:30:50Z

A really good interpretation of the theme! Liked the graphics and sound - would like to see the speed increase or something as well as the work length.

Thanks for sharing, well done!

Mortal Keybat by dob 2018-04-29T21:10:16Z

Really nice meta aspect to it, and appreciate the effort to carry through the 80's aesthetic through the whole thing.

Super Billiard Chalk by Remi Gourrierec 2018-04-29T20:43:42Z

Really interesting idea and a great looking game, a little oblique in places - but a solid core!

Submerge by ectucker1 2018-04-26T19:08:20Z

Liked the art and music, particularly the GUI and card designs, really nice. I got a few too many powerups which made things a bit easy, but that card mechanic for picking the next challenge is really interesting.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Card Runner by sh1rogane 2018-04-26T19:25:35Z

One of the most interesting ideas i've seen yet. There's a great risk reward in deciding whether to hold your cards, or burn them to try and be ready for any eventuality. I'd do some more tuning to the difficulty, some graphics and sound and it could be great.

Well done, thanks a lot for sharing!

Dungeon Solitaire by Scrumplesplunge 2018-04-26T19:19:37Z

Really interesting idea! Loved the low-res graphics and lo-fi sound. The idea of actually trying to complete a game of solitaire in this terrify's me though - well done for doing it yourself.

Thanks a lot for sharing, well done!

MazeInvaders by Jenonator 2018-04-26T19:13:12Z

Definitely a solid concept, tower defence FPS certainly has legs as an idea - would love to see some more polished sound and music - and I can't quite work out why the file was so huge?

But well done! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Amazing Blackjack by tamara188 2018-04-29T21:19:55Z

Definitely an interesting mash-up of genre's, I really liked the painted art as well - the game is a bit tough to play in places - but it's certainly unique.

Well done, thanks for sharing!

Torrejón Love Story by Yahialds 2018-04-26T18:37:35Z

Really ambitious and interesting - a few of the mini-games would have benefited from some tuning and polish, but I really respect the scope of what you were going for!
