@Brent Oh crap. I will fix it immediately.
awesome idea. A suggestion that would make it way more fun imo -- instead of being random (which very easily leads to impassable areas), have it be more like a puzzle game and have a fixed map and card deck. That way you can come up with some interesting challenges people can figure out. (And more importantly, is guaranteed to be possible to figure out)
Pretty fun.
It's a nice little game - a number of people have been showing that cards mix well with a lot of things this LD :-)
Really cool ^^ I would really enjoy to hear a music, but anyway ^^ I liked the graphism, but you should make them more "arcadish" I think.
And the speed of the scrolling is perfect ^^
Cool game, keep coding :)
- Couldn't figure out what you could shoot. - Gameplay was interesting. - really needed some sounds
Infinite runner + card game is definitely an incompatible pair of genres, but you made it work. There were a few places where I had no cards to get me out of a sticky situation, but that's card game luck for you. Visually this was well done, but I would've liked to have some audio. Overall, nice work.
Loved the idea. Even in this state it is kind of addictive. Doesn't need advanced or complex graphic imo, just some polish :)
Very easy to get into game. Smart design, some art is missing here, there is no reason why not to go mobile dude.
Nice game. Easy to understand, except for the wall laser I didnt even need the how to play. Sometimes it can be a bit unfair if you just not getting a move card and are stuck to one side, but otherwise really cool game.
Pretty cool idea. The one thing I would say is the laser seemed pretty strong. If I had no jump cards I just lose.
Fun game, sometimes a card that should have moved me several lanes only moved me one though.
Really fantastic game! The gameplay is super fun and the graphics are perfect for this kind of game. Some sound effects and music would have been nice. Personally, I enjoyed learning what you can shoot/jump over by experimentation (after all, there are only a few different obstacles). My best score was 1342.
I like this concept, maybe I add something to discard a card in exchange for life/points or speed in order to get better cards.
Some games require a lot of time ... others require just a lot of great ideas! Your game is awesome to play! No matter what graphics it has or how creative it is at the end of the day its a lot of FUN and that's what matters. Congrats and great job!
Hey this is a great idea. I like the simplicity and that you can start it up and play some rounds without great explanations. Good Job!
Great concept, nice use of the theme and the balancing is quite impressive for 15 hours of work ! Only real problem : sometimes you have absolutely no chance to win with the cards that you have. At one time I only had 3 shields and a jump !
Infinite runner + card game is a combo I never would have thought of, but in practice it seems to work well. I kept ending up wedged in the far-right lane because I drew next to no 'move left' cards. Is that part of the balance, or was I just unlucky? The controls are smooth, and the only critique I would have is the shadow behind the player makes timing jumps feel somewhat tricky when just starting out.
Feels like it would be a really good mobile game! You should probably have a set 4 cards that you start with since I started with a really bad combination occasionally.
One of the most interesting ideas i've seen yet. There's a great risk reward in deciding whether to hold your cards, or burn them to try and be ready for any eventuality. I'd do some more tuning to the difficulty, some graphics and sound and it could be great.
Well done, thanks a lot for sharing!
@Budaniel My "algorithm" for what card you get is 50% to get a random movement card and 50% to get a "action" card and there is 3 left and 3 right cards so it is 25% chance of getting a left move card. I didn't have the time to balance the game enough. I thought of do a pseudo random card draw where it would give you a left move card if you didn't got one for a while but i didn't implement it. Thanks for the feedback.
This was surprisingly fun
My high score was 1077. Nice genre combination! Game was pretty solid, although I swear once I did a Move 2 Left and it only moved 1 left... but it was pretty frantic, so I could have been mistaken ^_^. I think perhaps having a pseudo-random "deck" where you're guaranteed to see each card with some frequency would have perhaps helped the randomness, I did often end up on one side with moves only toward that side, though it felt reasonable to have to burn those to draw new cards.
Very interesting! My first half dozen runs ended really fast and I thought "wtf I don't have what I need, that was impossible." but then I realized the tricks, and after a couple more I got a run with a score of 721. I see that @Jimbly did even better, but hey I felt okay about 721 given my first few runs!!
I felt like there was a delay I never fully understood between the clicking and the doing. Several times I was hammering the card like COME ON DOOO ITTTT. I got accustomed to the delay and started playing cards with the idea that there would be a lag before they kicked in, but I think the game would have felt more potent and alive if the card instantly took effect, or if whatever that delay is was strongly visually indicated why it exists.
But once I got used to the couple of odd things I really started to feel good playing, and I wanted to keep it all on a roll! What finally did me in on my good run was jumping a little too early (was getting jumpy I guess!) and landing on top of a spikeball instead of jumping over it.
Very cool concept and a nice entry, good work.
Interesting casual game, not bad for 15 hours. My major gripe is that the level and the cards appear to be generated at random, without any link between them. I mean, often it felt as if luck was the major factor to have higher scores.
Interesting mash-up of genres. Pretty nice for only 15 hours.
i like the game, but because of random card i had many inavoidable deaths
Pretty fun, I like the minimalism. I was a bit confused at first about the use of the shield, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Good game.
