Generic Adventure Game by Jezzamon 2014-04-28T06:42:00
Game slows waaaaaaay down for me when I enter dream mode. Which is a shame because this game is gorgeous and I want to play all of it.

Game slows waaaaaaay down for me when I enter dream mode. Which is a shame because this game is gorgeous and I want to play all of it.
Tried again with the less intense web version and everything ran great :] One of the best entries I've seen so far. Charming, beautiful, challenging and really fun!
This was great. There's an almost dwarf-fortress level sense of impending doom the whole time you're playing, it's balanced just so to make it seem like you have a chance. Fun play. Good entry.
Apart from being beautiful and sounding great, this game does a great job of building on itself as it plays. The pacing and learning curve are both well implemented, the puzzles are great. Really nice game!
Fun game. And hard! The physics of the jetpack feel just right, and destructible terrain is always a nice touch. It really adds an extra level of depth to a shooter like this.
I love when tower defense games add resource management that's more than just "Kill all the things to get more things". Good use of theme, and it's just really fun!
I think the slow pace really adds a lot to the tension and mood of the game. Yes, it can get a little bit frustrating if you're in a hurry to get to the end, but the atmosphere was so gripping I didn't feel like I needed to rush.
So good. 5/5
This is. . . This is so good. Can we have more?
You really blew it out of the water in theme and mood. I didn't really find this "fun" in a typical game sense, but it was a very impactful experience, and I'm glad I played it. The frantic mouse wheel scrolling and clicking really makes you feel the desperation of the player character's situation.
Wow, this is a great example of getting as much as possible out of a simple concept. It's impressive how much depth (haha) is here for just using one button.
This was pretty cool. I think it would help anyone having a hard time to mention that once you inspect an enemy, you can then move away while you look through commands. It was kind of tough to figure out, but once you get it, the command swapping mechanic was really interesting. Good entry.
This is funny. Like I laughed out loud reading the directions. I love your idea, and the graphics work well with it. I do think the controls could use a little tweaking, but overall, quite well done.
Well done. It's pretty, and it's fun.
Well made game. The controls were smooth and responsive. The graphics looked good, and the sound and music was great. I found it a little too easy to just stay direction above the base and strafe up and down, but when I made myself actively hunt the enemies, I had a lot more fun. Good job!
Oh man, so many points for that E.T. The functionality and use of theme are very impressive considering how quickly you put this together. I did find the "move all the way to the right to win" mechanic a little difficult to grasp though. Was that an E.T. game reference? (I haven't actually played the worst video game ever made)
This strangely reminded me of ecco the dolphin. The controls really felt like how I remember it was jumping out of the water. This is a good thing. This game plays very smoothly, and it's very challenging for how simple the core mechanic is. Well done!
Incredibly difficult, but the kind of difficulty that hooks you and won't let go.
Well done. It's simple, and easy to pick up, but fun to keep playing as well.
The way I constantly had to keep rebuilding towers was an interesting spin on the tower defense formula. Fun game!
This made the little sociopath in my so happy. Solid pipe puzzler with charming graphics and fitting sound. Good job.
This was a lot of fun, and the graphics and sound were really top-notch. I had some minor text issues (text outside screen even with my monitor's resolution selected), but nothing that was more than a tiny distraction to an otherwise charming and fun game.
Very strong use of theme, having to figure out everyone's loyalties/intentions beneath the surface. You really get a sense of time and urgency from seeing the planet get closer with each click, and it made me really stop to think about what to say.
Very arcadey. I feel like I should be playing this on a cabinet in a dark room smelling of pizza and quarters. Nicely done. The ship looks cool, and the geometric-looking asteroids keep the screen looking interesting.
I honestly have no idea what I just did, but whatever it was, I loved it.
Oh orangepascal, you always deliver!
I found the audio pretty grating, but the UI was really nice, and platform shooters like comfort food to me, so I had a good time.
Fun game with a good story! Kept me interested the whole way! Good job!
Simple, but well executed. I think it would have been nice if the camera would recognize when you're getting ahead and speed up a bit to keep up with you.
I love well executed minimalism, and this game is the perfect example. Every individual piece is simple and well crafted, and they all come together to create an experience that is very engaging.
Worm only showed up once in four plays, BUT killing the worm was a blast! I'd love to see a full release of this. Good job.
Cute. The graphics are good, and the music is really nice. A little pathfinding in the walking code would have been nice, but it worked okay without. I found the ending hilarious for some reason. Good work.
This game made me so happy. I played atari games as a kid. These graphics. These sounds. They made me happy inside. The controls are good, the game looks great, and it's a lot of fun. I'd like to see this developed more post LD. So much potential!
This was extremely well done. The sound design especially. I wish there was more to it than those freakin' bats.
Cute game. I like the look you were going for, and the mole and raccoon models are pretty good. I feel like this was a little too ambitious though. It feels like it needs more polish and balancing. The controls feel a little muddy, and the camera was a bit annoying. However, it was fairly challenging, and the level layout was interesting.
This was beautiful. Excellent use of the theme in a literal and metaphorical sense, and foxes are neat!
This game terrified me. The screen shake and the sound effects of the stone beasts made did a great job of creating a sense of paranoia. The camera angle wobble while moving made me a bit dizzy, but it was worth it!
Very good use of theme, and extremely innovative/unique. It felt a little janky on pc, but you some things just work better on tablets. Good job, and that was a rad alligator.
There's a staggering amount of content in this given the time constraints. That said, I think it would have benefited from scaling back a little bit. All the individual aspects are well done, but it's pretty overwhelming from the start, although the help screen is useful. I'd like to see where this goes if you decide to work on it more.
Generally, I think it's safer to have LD games run in windowed mode by default with the option to full screen if you want. Niggling point aside, this wasn't a bad game. The controls were mostly smooth, and you can tell the sprites had some good work put into them.
Fun little game with tight controls and beautiful pixel art. If you actually get through the whole thing, you see how amazingly well it fits the theme. The ending was a little depressing actually. Excellent use of emotion in game.
Well done on ramping up the difficulty curve. It really felt well-balanced.
I just jumped into this without reading the description first and will now have nightmares xD Seriously though, this is a really unique idea for a game, and once I tried it again with a little context, I really enjoyed myself. I'd like to see this fully developed eventually. Well done.
This was incredibly silly in the best ways and I love it!
This was so much fun. It's really refreshing to see pure and simple gameplay done this well. The controls are tight. The graphics are charming, and the action is pretty addictive. The hit sound was a little grating, but don't get hit bro. Non-bleeding ears is the reward for being good! : D Well done.
Incredibly charming and well executed. GUI seems to have a bit of a depth issue with one of the table tops. I want a gubble.
Great atmosphere. Great art. I wish there was a little more to do, but what's there is well done.
Excellent use of theme, and I'm a sucker for a game with unconventional combat.
Good game. The mushiness of the controls make your sub actually feel like a big, underwater, missile firin' submarine instead of just a little sprite. Also solidarity points because the final boss in my game is also a shark.
The goal was made very clear right from the start, and that's a very strong point. I like the pixel art, and the water looks really nice. After the initial goal though, I found myself pretty lost. Jumping around was fun, but I had a difficult time figuring out how to progress. A little more polish and direction would really make this game shine.
Hughes was pretty fun. The collisions are a little funky, but it doesn't really affect gameplay that much. Thanks for pointing me to that chrome extension!
Very well done. Good writing, and beautifully somber mood. I grew up on myst and riven, so this was like a bit of childhood for me. Good job.
Good concept. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but turned out pretty enjoyable.
Intro scene was very well done, and the graphics were clean, if a little simplistic. The music was great, and really added a lot to the experience. The only thing I really didn't like was the constant reclicking to dig. I think it would have been less frustrating to just be able to hold the button down to drill and having drill speed affect a timer. Overall though, this was very well done.
Once I figured out what to do, this turned out to be one of the most unique game mechanics I've seen in a long time. It feels like a tower defense, but kind of plays like tapper. I think a little more clear guidance would be good, but overall, it's a great entry.
Addictive. It's really nailed that "just one more" motivation and keeps you wanting to try again.
Oh man, this was great. I love seeing an entry that isn't afraid to be simple. You picked a thing, and you did it really really well. This was so relaxing, I'm keeping it in my "kill some time" folder on my desktop.
I got the same error, but just running the SWF seemed to work fine for me.
Gameplay-wise, this is a pretty old formula. That isn't a bad thing though. The mouse controls feel pretty good, and the graphics show a good amount effort. Pretty good entry.
There's a bit of a lack of guidance. I wasn't quite sure what I was meant to be doing, but the graphics are beautiful, and it handles nicely. Good job.
Wow that was cool. The player's evolution of power and play mechanics as you collect fragments is really interesting, and the subtle bit of story that's there gives the game a good sense of intrigue and discovery as you play. Played more than once. Would play again. Very well done!
Good little match game! Smooth animations and pretty good sounds. I think it could benefit from a more hands-on tutorial. It took me a bit to figure out how to make color fusing actually do anything after reading the instructions, but it all came together eventually. Well done!
Very atmospheric, with good controls and a very good sense of scale. Solid entry! I like it.
Amazing! This was so good. It looks simple on the surface, but it's challenging, interesting, and intense. I got so far, and then lost on day 30 >< so close. Well done!
There's an impressive amount of polish on this game. The puzzles are interesting, and the controls are effective, if a tiny bit oversensitive. I think adding some subtitles would have helped since I had a little trouble understanding the audio at times, but that's a nitpicky point for this sort of thing. Well done!
The swinging mechanic is what saved the gameplay. The graphics are good, and the sound is good other than the damage effect being too loud compared to the music. Music was really nice. The swinging mechanic took a somewhat tired gameplay formula and made it interesting, challenging, and fun. Good job!
Fun game! That deadly blast of arrows just feels so satisfying. Your graphics are really nice, too. I'd play more of this if you make an enhanced version later.
It's cute, and I found it very relaxing. The slow pacing, and gradual controls make just moving around and exploring feel pretty satisfying.
Fun little game. You've made me hate rabbits xD It took me a bit to figure out what I was doing, but this is pretty addictive once you understand how it works. Damn rabbit. . .
It's a little bit overwhelming at first. I would have liked a little bit more guidance through the game at the start, but once you get into it, it was a fun playthrough.
I used to play Seawolf on Atari as a kid. This really brought me back. Well done.
98 seconds. Man that was fun! Honestly my only critique would be that the game gets a little bland fairly quickly. I'd really like to see a more developed version of this with difficulty ramping and some more content. This was a legitimately awesome concept though. Very well done!
I see a lot of potential here. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I couldn't seem to get past that first switchback.
Very nice pixel art. This game is beautiful. Your sound effects are simple, but effective, and the music was great! I love when a game takes a simple mechanic and really runs with it. You exploited the hell out of "don't get hit by fire" and the result was a good game. You should develop this more.
This was very unique, and very fun. It's one of the most unusual, and unexpected ideas I've seen, and I really wasn't expecting it to be so enjoyable when I saw what it was. I was very pleasantly surprised. Well done!
Game was cute and the music was nice. The squid was helpful in moving the game forward, but I wished there was more direction.
Very cool. One of the best looking pixel art entries I've seen, and I love the minimalism of the audio. It really makes the world feel more haunted and dangerous. I feel like the hop-back could have been pushed a little bit farther to make the best use of it, but the combat was fun, and challenging.
This is a really nicely made arcade game. When the audio of me playing "CRAP! *restart*" more than 3 times in a row, I call it an addicting success. Lots of fun, and it's impressive to see achievements implemented in a game with such a short development time. Well done!
Oh man, this was CREEPY! Great atmosphere, tons of tension. This was scary. Well done.
Great entry. I love resource management/strategy games, and they seem to be a bit of a rarity. The graphics are great, and the concept and mechanics are solid and well executed. It was a little bit laggy in places, but never un-playable for me. Nicely done.
There's a lot of good things going on for this entry. I did have some issues getting it to load properly, but once I started, I had a good time.
I had a good time with this. The voice acting was pretty goofy, but it came off in a fun way, and gave this a lot of character. The controls were clean, and the graphics were simple, but consistent.
I found the randomization to be a touch game breaking, as it would very rarely just block your path completely or not put a reachable bubble some place where it's needed, but that's forgivable for how beautiful and atmospheric the game is. Good presentation on a simple, but very functional concept.
The music was very good. I was a little frustrated by the eel, but this game was full of interesting puzzles and charming graphics. Solid entry.
This is a really solid puzzle game. The pieces are all useful, and most puzzles seem to have more than one solution which is great for a logic-based game. Graphics look good, and the audio fits well. Good job!
Oh man. I love tower defense, and every time I see a game that's tower defense AND other stuff, I get excited. Digable Planet did not disappoint. The mechanics were well-designed, graphics and sound were nice, and it was just fun!
Simple and short, but fun and well designed. Good job.
Cute game. The controls feel like they need a little more refining, and some more audio would be nice, but the graphics are charming, and well done, and the levels are nicely designed.
I'm afraid I'm really really bad at this lol. I didn't actually progress very much, but man did I ever have a blast just flailing around and breaking stuff xD
One of the most unique entries I've seen so far. Clean and simple graphics and sounds make this fun little puzzler just feel right.
I don't really get it. It looks really good though, and the fact that I didn't get it did sort of create a sense of mystery. That combined with the graphics and writing gives it a strong mood. A little confusing to me, but still good!
5 stars in humor for "Heart pounding soundtrack". Congratulations, you have pun.
I love that Captain President is wearing a presidential suit. . . and flip-flops.
That escalated quickly! I really enjoyed this unique concept for a game. The controls were well done and eating a ship full of sailors was really satisfying xD It did feel like the difficulty ramped up really really fast, but this was really fun.
This was great! I haven't played a good pipe game in a long time, and the addition of planet spinning and protester satiating was a great feature to add.
This game felt like it was smarter than me haha. The concept was interesting, and I really liked the greys. I didn't manage to get every last secret, but it was fun. It seemed like there were some little collision issues, but other than that, it was very smooth and well put together.
Neat idea. I think it needs a little polish to truly shine, but the concept is strong, and it's a very unique game.
This art is gorgeous. The combat was a little bit janky, but it worked, and I had a fun time exploring/getting lost. Obviously time constrains don't allow for the level of polish a game like this deserves, but for the time limit, it's very well done, and I'm excited to see where it goes, post ludum dare.
Heh :] this was fun. And cute. And well made. And silly. And I liked it. I think some goofy music as a soundtrack would have made this even better.
This was very well done. I'm a little surprised at how few endless runners I've seen so far this LD, and I love a good endless runner. Good job!
Great music, and interesting graphics. I didn't quite see the need for 2 different movement speeds, but the game was a fun playthrough.
Very well done. The writing is great, and throwing people in holes and burying their awful, awful faces made my day. Some animations would have been a nice addition, but this is a solid game, first time or otherwise. Good job!
This was hard. Like megaman hard. It also had super tight controls, and challenging level design. I found the audio to be a little grating, but the destructible terrain was a cool addition, and every time I died, I wanted to try again so I could shoot first next time. Good job! I'd also recommend compiling as a standalone executable. Saving that step gets a lot more people to give it a shot.
Spiffy mechanics, nice atmosphere. A bit too all-the-difficulty-right-away for my taste.
Neat little game. Explosives as a weapon in games is an idea I really into. The controls felt a little mushy, but it wasn't too difficult to get the hang of them. Your tilesets are really interesting to look at. Good work!
This was good! It's been a long time since I've seen someone make a reference or variation to Snake. You took something old, and gave it a very effective new twist. I'd say this was a great success.
Lots of fun. The controls feel a little wonky, but the idea is fun, and the enemies are challenging. The magic is a blast to use.
Clever puzzles. Good graphics and sound. I wish it was a little bit more clear who's going to go which way when you hit a direction changer. Would totally play more if you make more levels.
This is well done. It took me a bit to figure out how it works, but this is a cool idea, and I really don't think I've ever seen this done before.
This seemed pretty buggy, but it was still pretty fun, and I can see what the intent was which helps a lot. Overall, it's a well designed game that just seems to have had some hiccups in execution. If you plan to work on this more, I'd really like to see what it turns into with a bit more development.
Strangely addictive. This game looks very simple on the surface, but it's the little touches that really make it shine. There isn't anything particularly revolutionary here, but the graphics are consistent, the sound design is solid, and the controls are tight once you get used to the movement system. Well done!
Good pixel art, interesting puzzle aspect. Gravity felt a bit extreme.
I am absolutely terrible at this game. I love it though. It's simple, but with just enough complexity and speed you keep your brain in panic mode. The graphics look a little MSPainty, but they're consistent and all the pieces go together well. Solid entry.
Good concept, good graphics, great audio. That deep tone that runs while you play really gives a sense of danger. The difficulty could stand to scale a little slower, but overall, this is a lot of fun.
It's amazing how much personality and character fits into this little game. Excellent!
As a concept demo, this was great. I love river raid and making it a multi-level 3d shooter is awesome. It would have been nice if a couple more core features had been finished, but not ever LD48 goes as planned.
Neat idea. I found it a little frustrating at times, but I liked the music, and the graphics were nice.
Well done. There's a solid sense of style to the graphics, and the levels are challenging and engaging.
Very challenging. Very rewarding once you get it. Good job!
Can't seem to get the game to load right now :[ This looks fun.
It looks really nice. It's easy to pick up and play, it feels a little bit more luck-heavy than I usually prefer, but at the same time it has a bit of a slot machine feel to it that makes you want to try again when you have some bad luck. Overall, a great entry.
Innovation points for multiple perspectives! Bonus points for having voice work. This was really tough, but fun, and good looking.
Pretty good game : D the dick more is too much fun to not do though. Even with that exploit, there's some really solid puzzles here. Well done.
A brilliant first try. The game is very simple, but well done. The controls are smooth and responsive, and it's fun!
This was really cool. I didn't really get how/if it used the theme, but I had a blast playing. The controls were smooth and the graphics and animation were good looking (and full of nudity?) Chiptune music did a good job of staying interesting through my tons of deaths. Well done!
Controls seem like they could use a little work, and there was a bit of unexplained floating, but this was a fun game. The mech customization was cool, and the music and graphics were very nice.
This is a really interesting core concept. I'm not really much of a fan of being this heavily text-based, but it really made me take a look at life in a different way. It's as if a computer is running life.exe, and I'm watching the console log. Very thought-provoking, and very unique.
Man, I am REALLY bad at being an indie game developer. Free movement would have improved this a lot, I think. It isn't necessary, but I think it would really offer a great opportunity to simulate the shambling, sleep deprived, hopeless gait that goes with the profession. Very clever game.
Good. Game. Would I play again? The short answer is yes. The long answer is yes, please. I'd like to see some music added, but this was a really fun, well-built game.
This was really hard! It's tough to pull off such a precision skills based game without it feeling unfair, and Toxic Below did a pretty solid job of it. The controls are responsive, if a bit difficult to master (I played mouse only version) and getting the timing right to hover over a spill just feels great.
Very well done sound and music. Good sounds really pulls you into a game. Drifting was a cool idea, and seemed like it worked pretty well.
I really enjoyed this. I don't quite get it, but it was a very relaxing experience.
Very nice. Good use of theme in story and atmosphere. I am very bad at this game, but I want to keep playing anyway. That's good stuff right there.
I didn't quite understand the rules, but I managed to stumble through. The cards were well drawn, and the music was nice. Card games are tough to make interesting, and this was interesting to me. Good job!
Very cool idea. Who would have thought that just matching shapes could be so much fun or interesting. It's fairly addictive, and the music is a big help there. Very nicely done.
Good game! The controls are nice, the graphics look consistent, the music is good, and there's a lot of incentive to keep trying even when you die a watery death.
This was absolutely ridiculous and I loved every second of it.
This is very well done. The difficulty is ridiculous (not in a bad way) and the running narration creates a great mood. It got a little too frustrating for me later in, but I'll be coming back to it later. Well done!
Like a 2d Tomb Raider with a lot of snow! This was tons of fun, and just the right kind of difficult to really make me feel stupid every time I died, thus making me try again. Well done.
I found the music very catchy : D That's in addition to how well put together the rest of the game was. I'll be coming back to play this more.
It's very pretty. It's very smooth. It's fun. I like it.
Liked the idea, but it felt really hard to control. Even though I was jumping and dodging, and shooting, I was still hitting a BUNCH of stuff. I did really like the music, and using mail as an origami weapon was neat!
I really enjoyed this, but I can't quite say why. Couldn't stop laughing, and the whole "fall over whenever you attack" thing was pretty interesting.
This. . . I dunno. This was fun. Weird in concept, and well executed. I enjoyed it!
Nice looking graphics and cute sounds. I would have liked some music accompaniment, but the concept was good (and hilarious) and a lot of fun. Good use of theme too.
This game was quite silly, and that was a good thing. Hugging was a very unconventional way to fight, but I liked it. Very nice.
I was a little confused about what I should be attacking at first, but once I figured it out, it was fun. Loved the teddy bear idea. Unconventional weapon for sure.
Really nice graphics, and the music was cool too. Nice game!
Negative first: Controls and performance felt pretty sluggish, BUT this may have been my computer/browser's fault so I don't weigh much on that.
Positive: This game is beautiful, and have one of the most unique graphical styles I've seen so far. The concept of bridging and melting took a bit of getting used to, but really made what would otherwise have been a fairly straightforward platformed into a more memorable experience. Good job!
It started with a giggle, and then it was a fun game as well! The controls felt a little clunky in places, and the BoozeHound felt a bit floaty, but it all worked.
Very well put together. Graphics and sound were excellent, and controls were smooth. It was a little hard to see what was going on when the screen had a lot of enemies on it.
This game was really creative, and I love the actual hand being used to crush the animated enemies. The voice acting was hilarious, and the game play was smooth. Wish it had more difficult levels.
Good idea and concept. Everything runs pretty smoothly. It would have been nice to see the concept taken a little bit farther than survive until you die, though. Music was really nice.
I liked this game, but as you said, the theme wasn't really there. Music would have been a good touch, but it was a fun game for someone who was learning to type. Nice job.
This game flipped out on me a little when I found my ship again, but it was fun. Using cleaning product as a weapon was quite unconventional. I liked it!
Excellent entry! This game was polished, engaging, and original. The idea of blood as a weapon, and "your health is your ammo" turns a twin-stick shooter in a precision experience, and I had a blast playing.
This game was fun, but I felt like some of the controls were confusing. Upgrading my cannon didn't seem to actually help speed up the process at all. But this game was really fun, and the theme was quite present. Nice!
This game was ridiculously hard by itself, HOWEVER as a multiplayer experience, it's pretty much the best thing ever. Kind of made me think of co-op lethal league. Passing the frisbee between two players as a weapon is just great on so many levels. Excellent work!
Break out the five cannon! Seriously. This was great in pretty much every way.
Loved the art. Once finished, I think it would be fun!
Loved this game! Use of the theme with pianos as the weapon was really clever, and the character design was really nice! This was a fun game!
I like sticking my tongue out. . . BLEP! Some more sound effects would have been nice, but the music was good, and my wife couldn't stop giggling, so bonus points for that!
I died pretty quickly. The music and sound was really well done, and I did really enjoy that everything was dancing. While turn-based combat isn't really my thing, it was an impressive system to have put together in a LD game.
This game was really fun, and the graphics were really nice. I liked the flying cows. Both sides of this game had unconventional weapons. Well done.
Loved this game! It was clever, cute, and fun! The graphics were very nice and the music fit the feeling of the game. Really enjoyed attaching different garden tools to my hose, and seeing how it affected my hits! Great job!
::gross sobbing:: so sad! My only complaint would be that the controls make me feel like my character weights 600 pounds and is covered in butter. I'm impressed with the number of levels, and the humor is. . . humorous. Good job!
I liked the idea of this game! I agree with above comments that a goal would be nice, but even something as simple as a points system would fix that. The sound was good, and the mechanics worked well.
This game was really pretty, and the music was very nice.
I liked the music and of course, the bananas! Having a banana gun instead of a laser gun felt pretty good. Good use of theme.
Presentation is really nice overall. I found some of the sound effects a little bit grating, and some guidance would have been helpful, but the concept is really interesting, and the bits I did manage to figure out were fun.
I liked the music and it was a fun and challenging game! The use of time as an unconventional weapon was neat, and defeating the enemies with time was clever!
I felt like the laser was a bit of a crutch that kept the other weapons from truly shining (haha). However, the graphics and sound were consistent, and I had some fun killin' monsters. Well done.
Link fixed! Thanks for the heads up.
That's actually a pretty good idea Davikin92. I may give that a shot for the post-compo version.
High five! :D
Interesting idea. Could have used a little more variety of insults, or a more clear way to determine which ones we were using.
This game was confusing but adorable! I had a lot of fun playing it, actually!
The blow horn was hilarious and it really killed those birds dead. Fun little game, good use of theme.
That ending line, though. This game was hilarious, and I enjoyed every second.
Love the graphics and the art! Very nice! The spikes seem a little too unforgiving, though. I liked the idea of the game, and how his weapon was a pencil.
This was a weird one haha. I enjoyed it! The music was nice, and the theme was certainly present. Very odd, but still very fun!
Nice use of theme; toilets aren't often used as weapons to help save the world! Would have liked some background music instead of just beeps and boops. As said above, the cooldown would have been better if it was a bit faster. It's hard to actually use the correct laser in time.
I killed a man with a plunger and that was pretty great, but it was pretty hard to squeeze my broad shoulders through those passageways. It could have been more fun if there had been a bit more music and also if my shoulders didn't always get in my way.
Very pretty game. The graphics were amazing. Music was soft and relaxed, which I liked. It seemed that no matter how many bombs I dropped, it didn't really make them love each other more. But Maybe I was dropping them in the wrong spots. Overall, I really liked the idea of this game!
This game is really nice. The music and graphics are good, and the interpretation of theme is great. It is really short, but it was enjoyable the whole way through. Good controls, making the yoyo do double damage was really nice. Would like to see this as a more full game with more levels and a storyline. Awesome job.
I would like to have seen a couple more levels, but what was there was good. I liked the music, but it seemed like my browser was having some trouble playing it smoothly. Good use of theme.
The controls all worked well for me, and it was nice to have music, though it sounded a bit too intense for how slowly the enemies appeared. Pretty fun though.
So this was hilarious, but I didn't really get it. It was a blast jumping around, getting stuck and throwing cardmen everywhere, but it seems like the controls didn't always respond. Still fun though, and that's kind of the point. Good job.
Fun game! And also really funny! The controls all worked nicely, and the use of theme here was pretty hilarious!
My head was filled with Zohan quotes while playing this. I really had to stretch to come up with any critique or complaint for this game. The only thing I came up with is the jump key felt just a touch unresponsive here and there. Excellent work!
I like the idea and the art is pretty cute, but it stopped working for me after the second battle. Right when I was about to hatch some more dinos! Wish it had music and sound, but I liked the concept and would have liked to play a few more rounds!
This game was fun, but it did seem like it took too long to poop, which got me eaten a few times too many. Also the pig was a bit hard to control. But it was really cute, and enjoyable! Good job!
Original idea, and it was visually interesting. I liked the idea more than the play, because the controls were a bit hard to use. Enjoyed the music and use of theme.
I didn't really get it, but it seemed to be working pretty well. I beat a boss! And there were kittens. A net positive.
Interesting concept, and good use of theme. Some kind of background music would have been nice, as well as a little more direction as to where we are supposed to end up, or where the target was.
I liked the music, but it seemed like the fruits and burgers blended into the background just a bit. The idea isn't all that new, but it was fun, and it was a good use of theme.
Man this was fun! Really bare-bones, and the controls felt just a bit clunky, you made up for it with humor and simplicity. Well done.
I love seeing games that use an indirect approach to combat. Using bait to get your pet to attack was a cool idea, and the art was consistent and good-looking. I did find the music a little grating though.
Solid graphics and sound really make this. I see a pretty heavy zelda influence, and that blended will with the concept of weaponized plants. The attack distance was a little bit of an issue at first, but I fixed it by getting good. Well done!
I really liked this game! The graphics were really cute and the music fit nicely! I thought the controls were nice, and they worked well. Had trouble considering the theme, though. As none of this really reminded me of any kind of weapon...
Graphics were well done, and the concept and puzzles were solid. Also it's nice to see a ludum dare game with an end. It makes the whole thing feel more packaged. High scores are a nice touch.
Oh man, lego land mines. This was clever and made me chuckle. Excellent use of theme.
Music was excellent. The game was well made, if a bit simple. I would have liked to see a bit more enemy variety or movement patterns. Good game though!
Pretty fun, and a funny concept with the unconventionality. Controls felt a little sloppy, but they got the job done. I shot a man next to a wagon and he became another wagon.
Really fun game! Interesting concept, and well made! The music was nice, the theme was well executed! I really enjoyed the challenge! Good job!
I liked the bubble gun and how you could create solutions to your puzzles by blowing bubbles into platforms. Collecting lost cookies that had been taken away by a monkey was a bit perplexing, but it worked, I suppose! Nice graphics, and the music was fun and bright :)
This is a really cute game! Reminded me a bit of Zelda, map-wise. It was a realllyyy big map, and not many enemies to kill along the way to finding Johnny. Also our character was a really slow walker for the amount of map to cover. But I liked this game! Really nice, smooth controls! And the lollipop was a really cute weapon.
Loved this game! Very cute, and actually pretty challenging. I liked the specials we could use by saving up pink clouds. It was a game I wanted to keep playing. Nice music, and also really good use of theme!
I enjoyed the concept for this game! Using a tennis ball shooting grandpa as a weapon is hilarious. I was a little confused as to why my enemies were bros, but I guess pop-pop has no tolerance for the youth of today. Fun game, though the shooting control tended to stick a bit, I guess. Sometimes his walker would go up and nothing would be shot out.
This is my favorite game so far. All of the elements of it combine to make a hilarious and really fun game play! Love the graphics, love the music, and the use of theme here is perfect. Really well done!
This game was actually quite fun, though it felt like it sort of set you up for failure on a few runs. Poop is indeed an unconventional weapon.
This game was really fun, but I really was wishing there was some sound! Music would have made it really great. That said, I really had a good time playing, and I thought the mechanics of blending colors was clever and fun! Really an awesome game!
I really enjoyed the random tuba sounds as music, and the concept was good! The art was cute and interesting. Use of theme was well-played, but I was a little underwhelmed with there only being one level and the combos were a little confusing.
Interesting concept. I felt the game needed something more to it. It may have been my browser's fault, but the laser beam only rendered for me using the windows download.
Anyone having trouble with the web player version, try a download.
This game was really fun! I would have liked to be able to see my mouse on the screen before it was time to choose my rhyme. It threw off my timing on a few and made me lose. But I really liked this game!
This game was really unusual, but I liked it! I liked using music as a weapon, and the character itself was weird, but in a good way. Fun game.
Either you are correct and this was seriously hardly a game, or I was missing something. Either way, it's a hilarious spoof and I enjoyed myself. (I blew it though)
I think maybe I didn't fully understand the mechanic for pulling, but I had fun squishing enemies with push. Good use of theme.
I don't get it, but I laughed xD and that's cool.
This game could have been more fun if it had been easier to click the letters. Having to scroll by dragging was hard to accomplish while still having time to get your word in. Cool idea though, and good use of the theme.
This game is really funny and also fun. Loved the squeaks from the rats when you hit them with the paper planes. Nice job!
Simple, to-the-point, and who doesn't love a good fart bomb?
I wish this game had has some sound. It was really lacking in that department, which is sad because it was a really fun and interesting game! I liked the different chickens and it was a really smooth game!
Wow. This game was unique in concept, used the theme well, and was a lot of fun! Excellent entry!
This game is weird but also fun. Simple, but pretty great.
I liked the music but the other noises this game made were really screechy. It hurt my ears a little. But! Really really cute, and surprisingly fun to play! Nice job!
This game's concept and presentation is laugh-out-loud hilarious. I wish there had been a little more variety in the move set, but the animations were so stuffed full of character and personality, I didn't really mind. Good game!
I liked the concept for this game. It's a creative idea and I like that the weapon here is jellied toast! The music felt a little repetitive, but overall it was fun!
This cart was really hard to control! That said, I thought the game itself was really original, and I liked the story! The music was really nice too.
Wasn't really sure how to win this game. The directions were a little unclear. But visually I liked it.
This game was solid. It was simple, yes, but it did it's core thing well. It's a good shooter. A little more depth would have been nice, but again, solid core. Well done.
I managed to get through several enemies, but the farther I went, the more confusing it was to see how to defeat them. I did really like the graphics, and the music was pretty nice.
Really cute and really fun! I loved the music, it fit really well!
I liked this game but with there was more to it. It was fun, but I wanted some music, or some scoreboard, or something else. Really cute graphics, and nice use of theme!
This game is really cute! I love the lanky fisherman, and I love that I'm using a fish as a weapon. Really enjoyed the art. Nice job!
Very nice. It was a little hard to figure out if the order you chose was actually correct or not, but it was a really fun and cute game. Nice graphics and music.
Very nice. The environment and menu were beautiful, and the player and enemy graphics were consistent. My only critique would be that the ink attack mechanic felt a little clunky, but I got by. Thematically, this was excellent! You really did a good job of making all the elements complement each other.
It was pretty hard to stop the mice because they were going to fast, and it seemed like the cat was just spinning too slowly. The power-up I managed to get made my cat spin like the blazes, but when it wore off I was back to losing my burger. I did like the art though, and it was a good use of theme!
Math R Hard D: Clever game though. really interesting idea setting up attacks beforehand and then running real time.
I launched the gophers into space! : D I liked that items in bubbles would let you collect fast things by hitting them with your noodley body, but I wish hitting an item with your head was an instance collect. But I LAUNCHED GOPHERS INTO SPACE! : D
Love this game! It's so cute! The music was adorable, and the controls worked very nicely. The only thing I might add is different enemy types for the different levels. The level names seemed like they could have dictated what the enemies could have looked like, such as lollipops and lemon drops. Overall, this game was fun and looked great. Awesome job!
Reminded me a bit of WarioWare. The minigames are interesting and there seems to be a lot of them :] I'd recommend some music, and a check to make sure keys that represent left and right are actually left and right of each other. I found that a little disorienting. Also I am the GREATEST at climbing that ladder.
This game was weird, but really fun. The timer made it more challenging, and therefore more addicting to play. The audio was pretty simple, but it fit nicely. Cool game!
The two button controls worked, but they were pretty slow to respond, which made it hard to control the balloon once it was inflated past a certain point. I liked the music, although it got a little repetitive. Simple game, but fun!
Very nice work. I like the minimalist, high-contrast graphical style, and the game is very easy to read in terms of getting the hang of what to do. The only thing I might recommend is maybe some rotation inertia. I think it would help a lot with precision movements to have the rotation speed start slowly and speed up the longer you hold down the button. I found myself running into walls a lot because I overturned slightly when I just needed a tiny little adjustment.
Great graphics. All it needs is a little sound, and some powerups/downs! :D
This game was really neat! I liked the incorporation of the theme, and the game play was smooth and interesting. Nice audio, and I really liked the little lady character and her bird. Very cute.
Everything seemed to work for me. I haven't seen a tamagotchi in years! Great artwork. Great sound. The basket catch minigame could use a bit of speeding up though, I think.
This game is super cute, so it would have been fun to have a complete game from it. But what you did manage to make was really cute!
This is a really fun game to play! The theme "growing" has definitely taken on a new meaning here, but it was still fun, and it controlled well! Bravo!
I really wish there was more to this. The graphics and audio are gorgeous! I wanted to play more.
Really fun game! It's just challenging enough, and the graphics and music are nice! I really enjoyed playing!
Cute graphics. I think a little movement or scrolling from the background would really add a lot to this game though.
This game is appropriately named, for sure. It was so fun, and so awkward using only my two buttons to save the land from a firey bomb death. Love the music, and it fit the theme well. Awesome job.
This game confused me somewhat. I wasn't really sure that what I was doing was working, or that it was what I was supposed to be doing at all. I got 900 points, though I'm not entirely sure what I did to earn them. But it was very pretty, and an interesting idea!
Taking a really simple mechanic like a clicker game and putting it online against other people also clicking just somehow makes the whole thing seem more epic. A very light game, but I had fun with it! Good job.
I like the way you used the two button controls here! It made the game a little more challenging because the arrow and the cannon weren't pointing the same direction. I had a fun time playing. The graphics were pretty simple, but well executed, and the controls were smooth. Cool game!
This game was really clever! Love the name, and the audio was very nice. Good interpretation of theme, and it was a really fun game! Controls were good, if a little intentionally confusing :) Nice game!
Cute! Also very well presented. I loved the depth of field effects, and the shoes really made it. I would like to see it a little faster on the pacing though. I found myself just waiting for the screen to scroll in a few places. Also creative use of theme.
I submitted a little bit early specifically to give myself time to shade the rose : D
YinYin, was the dash not killing enemies for you? Unless you have the glasses, a dash should 1-hit an enemy.
A little. The whole thing was meant to be a bit creepy though.
Great concept, animations are smooth. This is a lot of fun. The controls felt a little bit sluggish, and I did encounter that issue with enemies getting stuck in the player, but I still enjoyed it enough to play up through the sai and armory. The shop was a great addition.
Clever. Good concept, charming graphics. Frustrating. Very very frustrating, and a lot of fun!
Best. Voice. Acting. Ever!
Really solid game! The art was great, and using record scratch to represent rap voice was a fun idea. The UI was a bit sparse. I would have liked just a little bit more indication of what was going on, but it fit the aesthetic well.
As an art piece, this was beautiful. The graphics were top-shelf, and the audio was fitting if a bit sparse. Gameplay-wise, I wish there had been a bit more depth. I played this several times through just for the art though. Fancy!
I like defense games in this style, but I think some more work could have gone into balancing. The game feels a little bit unfairly difficult at times. Maybe some power-ups or a way to help collect seeds. I think something might have been wrong with the shooting sound effect, but everything else seemed like it worked pretty well. Fun once you get the hang of it!
This game was really interesting! It was challenging to understand at first, but pretty neat. I like the music!
This game was really simple, but it was fun! I liked the color palate you used.
This game was really fun, and super cute! Nice music, and the graphics were really good!
This was incredibly charming and took me completely by surprise. I wasn't really sure what the draw was at first, and then I accidentally killed my first litterling. NEVER AGAIN! D: Really, this was great and I'd love to see the concept explored further.
I really love this game as a concept. The control scheme was cool, and the graphical style is really eye-catching. I think the game would benefit most from being longer. You've got the setup for a great adventure and it ends so quickly. Such is Ludum Dare, but I'd love to see this as a full adventure.
I like the concept, and it seems like everything works well. Alas, I am too slow to truly shine at this game.
This game is so much fun! An awesome idea accompanied by cute graphics, and really great audio and controls. Love it, awesome job!
This was a pretty fun game! I think a few more obstacles would have been nice, because it was a bit repetitive, but it worked well! I did have to restart it the first time because I fell backwards off of the platform and I just kept falling into the sky, but once I restarted and stayed on the platform, all was well. I really liked the graphics and the music!
This game was really fun, and cute! The controls worked nicely, and it made me really wish I had those joysticks. Cool game!
This was a fun game! The audio was fun!
This game was really funny and cute, but it was so hard to land that darn potato on his platform. I loved the weird noise it made when you ate a golden potato, and the graphics were nice and potatoey.
This is a silly and hilarious game, and I liked it a lot! Not sure how a tree can lay an egg, but it happened. Nice audio and graphics, and overall, it was just fun to play. Well done!
Headphones definitely help. This was so atmospheric and relaxing after the initial spookiness work off a bit. The web version does seem to be pretty unbearably framey, but I had no troubles with the windows build. It's always good to see a really well done game in GameMaker. Good job!
It is impossible to play this game without a huge, stupid grin. That said, the level generation felt a little trollish. Adding a double jump would go a long ways toward helping the player get through a tough segment. I greatly enjoyed the headband physics.
I took a selfie while falling over dead and it brought me back to life! Great entry though. Graphics are good, and even stylish, and the sound and music fit perfectly.
Nice game! I like how it gets harder with time, and adding the little apples with the worm to give us extra droppable apples was great. The graphics were simple, but cute, and I liked the music a lot! Well done!
Aiming is really tough! But that definitely creates that feel of "I can do better. One more game" which is great! Your art is good, and the sound effects were fine. Good game.
There wasn't really a whole lot here. Would have been nice to see some more to do other than plant one tree and walk around, BUT making a 3d game that looks this good and works this effectively in GameMaker is quite an accomplishment. The music was nice, and there was a good mood to the game.
This game was cute, and I liked the sort of horror piano music, though I do wish it were more constant rather than just a few notes here and there. Also, it would have been nice to have some goal other than just getting points for being alive. Maybe eating the kids or whatever as you get bigger would be a better goal than just points for being alive.
This game was really fun! I like the variety of tracks you have, as well as the different power-ups, but I do wish there were some way of telling them apart. It would be fun to play with multiple people, too. Cool game!
The graphics were quite nice, and I liked the music, too! Wish I had someone to be my player 2, because it seems like a fun game to play with an opponent!
The graphics look a little inconsistent with each other, but everything works. I would like to see a little more depth in gameplay, but the matching mechanic does well as it is.
Nice graphics and the music was catchy. I wish the enemies had a more clear indication of where their attacks were landing. It made it hard to dodge/counter when you can't see the hits. I made it past full-grown tree stage though! : D
This game had some big ups and some small downs. I love the ridiculousness of it all, and the weapon variety and sound effects were great! However, the controls felt a little bit floaty, and the hitboxes were hard to figure out in place. Still though, it was incredibly satisfying beating faces in with a guitar.
Great game! I'd play this on my phone post-compo if I could.
Fun builder :] Ridiculous looking bridges xD Kudos on using both themes. Good job!
I like the art style of your game, but it seemed like there might be a few glitches, or I just didn't know I was doing something wrong. My little man kept floating off the flower and then eventually just biting the dust by being flung off...but nothing hit me. It fits the theme, though, and the music is great!
This game is strangely addicting and very fun! I love the graphics and the music, and it fits the theme nicely. I can see myself playing this over and over again, trying to win. Awesome game :)
Great game! It did make me a little bit dizzy, but that's a risk in every game for people prone to motion sickness. I love the risk/reward system of speeding up, and that's the most stylish method I've ever seen for a tram to put on the brakes.
The game looks good despite having a simple aesthetic. I didn't get the chance to play it with another person, but I fiddled around with the 2 players myself and had a lot of fun even that way.
I won! Wooo! For what's here, you've done very well. I do think a couple more elements to gameplay would help though. Maybe some different movement patterns for enemies or level hazards or something like that. Your graphics are nice and consistent though.
I like the innovation showed here. I don't think I've ever played as sewer water before, and it was fun to reject those chlorine pellets. Nice game :)
Very cute graphics and music, but I did encounter the same problems as Headmade. My timer stopped at 1 and I wasn't leaving any thread.
Neat mechanic. I like rain games with a little depth to them like this. your jump is quite satisfying, and I like tapping to speed up. I'd recommend adding a check to make sure that berries you need to pickup don't spawn right on top of spikes. Red berries are hella rad though :]
Fun game! The way my cat friends stacked up next to me made moving around a bit of a challenge, and it seemed like sometimes, I was being caught by the wolf when he hadn't touched me at all, but the game was cute! And the audio was good, too.
Cute graphics, good sound, a little addicting. This was fun! I'm not sure how I feel about the extra numbers in later stages. When I saw the first 2, I thought the system was trying to trick me. Then I felt like that would be a pretty neat idea.
Good use of theme, and the graphics and music were very nice. Cool game!
This was a cute game, but the response time on the box rotation as well as the hit boxes on those bombs made it pretty difficult to win. Once you got used to it, it was easier, but the controls could maybe use some work. I did like the graphics, and the audio! It was a fun game to play!
Great growing simulator! I'd recommend consolidating the controls a little bit. Maybe E is context sensitive and lets you interact, plant or place sprinklers depending on what you're looking at? The game looks and sounds great though. Good job!
I love the music in this game, and the use of theme was good! I do wish the plant would have been a little quicker to respond to the commands it was given for moving in either direction, but it was fun anyway. Nice job :)
Love the music, and the interpretation of theme here was cute, too! This game is a lot of fun!
I don't think it quite counts as two buttons because movement still uses all four arrow keys, but this was a cute game none the less. I liked the audio!
This game was a lot of fun to play! I kept trying again and again to progress more down the line. I liked your audio, and the two button controls worked well!
It seemed like the controls for the smoothie making portion were really difficult to use. It was cute though, and the music was nice.
I really enjoyed this. You put together a really solid system of mechanics that makes a fun and challenging experience. The only critiques I have are that I found the music just a touch repetitive, and I had an instance or two of a tile placing when I scrolled the map. I can't consistently reproduce that one though, so I wouldn't count it. Also it seemed like all your sound effects were vocal, and I thought that was a cool touch.
I love the graphics of this game! It's super cute, and just challenging enough! Awesome game!
I haven't beat it yet, but it's fun! I like that you've got more than a single attack animation. That keeps things fluid in a game with lots of punching. All I'd really recommend is making the dinos' attack telegraph a little bit more obvious. I had trouble telling when to jump in for a hit or move away a couple of times. Punching dinosaurs though; always a good time.
I like the newer kind of take on a memory game, but it did get a little old pretty fast. Maybe having some music during game play or a different background for the different areas would have helped. It was fun, though!
I really hate puzzles, but this game was super fun! It was challenging, but in a good way, and the music was really nice. The graphics were also really great! Cool game!
I didn't really think the theme was well represented, because there wasn't really any shape shifting, just wolves in costumes? But I really liked your audio, and the game was really fun to play!
I hadn't heard of Obake, but having looked it up, I see that they mention having taken inspiration from Kirby, which is the first thing I thought when the theme was announced.
I really love the graphics of your game! I was wishing the man moved as fast as the wolf, because I was more into his laser beam rather than the wolf's barky power. Good controls, though, and over all, I really liked it! Cool game!
I enjoyed the audio and the graphics a lot, but it was a bit confusing, and once I did get it, it seemed my keyboard didn't always want to cooperate with me. Cool game, though!
Solid runner. I recommend making every play start with the slowly lowering ceiling as it almost immediately explains the mechanic, and gives you a moment to compose yourself before the game starts throwing death at you.
I think the physics of this game were a little wacky, and disorienting at times. The graphics of your characters really weren't so great, but I did like the houses in the background! Some obstacles would have been very welcome, like maybe some dogs to chase the cat or something like that. Over all, there just wasn't really much to do, so it didn't really feel like a game.
I liked this game! It was really fun, and cute, but I was really really wishing to have some sound. I liked the art for the different animals! Super cute!
Really beautiful game. Solid puzzle mechanics, and the platforming was pretty well done. I'd add variable jump height, and it would really make a couple places in this game less frustrating. Presentation is great for the time given, though. I'd love to see that post-jam version with more polish.
I really like the concept, and Lequestrius' graphics are very nice. I did find the controls a little bit clunky in spots and it seemed like there were some wall sticking collision troubles in one jumping section, but the music kept me jamming, and the shapeshifting was fun!
Disclaimer: I am very bad at shmups.
Solid game! I only barely got past the first boss, but I love how different enemies seemed to have vulnerabilities/exploits based on the forms. Good use of theme and mechanic!
Being a floor lamp has opened my eyes to all of life's possibilities. Really though; fun concept that works *shock*ingly well (haha)
This game made me feel really good about myself xD Excellent arcade game. The controls are really easy to pick-up and your audio and graphics go really well together. Good job!
Pretty functional little metroid-like. Like tentacode said I'd work in a little more animation, and maybe shorten a jump gap here and there to make some bits a little less pixel perfect, but you've got a good soundtrack and worms that die when you shoot them!
Presentation really knocks it out of the park with this one, and you've made a combat system with just enough elements to create some real depth. I found the vocal sound effects to be a little bit grating, but at the same time, they also gave the game a feel reminiscent of an old Gauntlet game. Does the game have an end? I played a few screens in and plan to go back for some more soon.
That cloud will NOT stop judging me! I like how you freshened up the formula of a runner/helicopter game. The most frustrating thing about the genre is how quickly and randomly it seems you can die, and in your case, death is just a change of mode 2/3 times.
I don't understand the decision to make E the attack button while using WASD for movement. You might benefit from giving the option to use the arrow keys or switch attack to a different button. That said, the game kept me engaged through 10 waves so that's a plus! And your UI is pretty slick for a Ludum Dare game. I had fun :]
I found it a little difficult to get very far because from the very beginning you are bombarded with sharks, and there's not really a clearing for you to get in the groove. But after you get over that fact, it's pleasantly challenging.
I like your graphics and the audio is fun! Cool game!
That was a really cute and fun game! I liked the theme interpretation, and the audio was really nice the way it changed as we grew more suspicious of our kitty monster. Awesome game!
I love the graphics and the audio of this game! And it was really really fun to play! I think it was a bit of a stretch for the theme, but I loved it anyway! Really fun game!
This game was really fun to play, and I loved the music and graphics. Nice way to stick with the theme and also have something fun and original! I really enjoyed your game!
This game has nice sound, but I think it's a little too easy. The other baby doesn't try to attack at any point, so I could basically just pick whatever spot suited me and start chucking my bears at him.
Your gameplay is solid and fun and the graphics and sound fit well together. The controls for the ladder climber felt a little sluggish, but I got used to it. Very fun game. Good job!
I haven't been able to reach the boss yet because the screen shake makes me a bit dizzy, but the knockback when hitting enemies feels pretty satisfying. I'd recommend adjusting the sprite origin for your attack pose. At the moment, it kind of looks like your feet move backwards when you punch. Adjusting the sprite origin would also probably give your punch just a little bit more range which I really think could help take away a bit of the frustration of getting hit by an enemy just as you punch. Still though, this is a fun, simple brawler. I like the setting and aesthetics, so I'd really like to see what you could do with a little more time and polish.
This game surprised me! I have never seen a multi-windowed game like this! I managed to freeze it in the past when I sullied the beard with oil. Maybe I wasn't supposed to do that...but I had a lot of fun trying for all the different outcomes!
To anyone playing, please stick it out and get to the ending. I honestly would have made the game a little bit shorter, because the ending was the touch that took this game to the "hah! wow!" level for me. The game crashed on launch for me once, but I think it may have just been a bug on my end because it's been stable since. If you continue developing this game, I highly recommend checking out "The Producers" and making your music sound something like the room full of accounts scene. Making this kind of a rhythm game to that kind of music would, I think, just be hilarious and really help add to the mood you've created. Good job!
Concept and title are good for a giggle :] While I found the game a bit clunky in the controls, I did have a pretty good time with the first few rounds. The upgrades between rounds really help in keeping the player motivated. Also kudos on finishing a LD project without using Unity, Game Maker, or Construct. Really shows a passion for the process.
It took me a while to figure out that the attack was only a knockback and the way to kill zombies was to push them into spikes or into pits. I love that. I can't get enough of environment based combat. I found the graphics a little inconsistent in terms of the sprites and environment fitting together, but I did like the character art, and the animations were cute. This is a fun concept and with some post-jam work, I would definitely come back to play more.
The rapid snowball spawning was a blast and a half. I didn't really get the hang of actually killing enemies, so I made my own meta-game of trapping them with big snowballs. The game feels pretty unfinished, but I can see what you were going for. Aside from the controls being a little cumbersome (putting a little less controls entirely on the mouse by using a few different buttons could probably help) your system is pretty solid. I bet this could be a great defense game.
The graphics are really nice! It looks like if you had finished and managed to get an actual game going, it would have been really cool.
Congrats on your first time! A Fortress of Ash is pleasantly complete and functional for a first time entry. You did a great job of really creating a feeling of panic and pressure. Invoking feelings similar to a hopeless ship fire in FTL. That said, I found it a little bit too punishing to enjoy for long. A more controlled difficulty curve could really help out here.
I wasn't really sure if there was something I was working towards or if I was just supposed to keep giving my son what he asked for when he called...I was a little confused as to the end goal. It seemed to just go on and on with no end or indication that I was playing correctly.
Cute graphics and your resource management system with the light adds a good amount of suspense to the game. I found myself getting stuck on corners pretty frequently, but everything else seemed to work fine. I could see this being a truly addicting little action puzzler with a bit more polish.
Your presentation is fantastic! I'm already picturing what a full scale version of this game could be. Like some kind of monster-themed, reverse ape escape. I do think a little more responsiveness on the controls could have helped the jam version. Movement was fine, but actions like shooting the dart gun or picking up and moving monsters felt a little stiff or slow. I won, though! Good game!
I had some issues with picking up weapons. The third weapon just wouldn't pick up for me no matter what I tried. Still though, the game made me giggle, and the move n shoot mechanics worked well. I had a good time!
BadRoom's presentation is excellent. Your graphics and sound are good, and I love love love the music. Gameplay was pretty basic, but it fit the concept well. It was a little buggy (I got stuck inside objects a couple of times) but the game's main loop is short enough that having to restart was a small irritation. Good job!
Graphics and sound were very well done. I really like the game concept as well. You've taken the appeal of a puzzle game and given it the arcade element that dusty old quarter crusaders like me love.
Wow. This is cool. The concept itself pretty much carries the game. I would recommend some kind of soft mouse-lock maybe. I died a few times from accidentally clicking outside a window. And some tweaking on the difficulty curve because as a few have mentioned, it does seem really punishing up front, but man this is a refreshing idea. Good job!
This game was too much fun! I don't know why mixing models and chainsaws makes any sense, but it worked! I loved the little chainsaw noises and how you have multiple characters with their own unique descriptions. I played this many times and I greatly enjoyed it!
A good walljump is hard to pull off. I really like the feel you've created with stererojo, and I think with a little more than compo time you could make the walljump feel just as fluid and silky-smooth as the rest of the game feels. I had a ton of fun with this and your puzzle element is one of the more refreshingly interesting things I've seen in a platformer in a while.
I picked up on how to play very quickly. Your first level being very forgiving while still showing the mechanics pretty wall was nicely done. However, I feel like it might have been just a little bit too simple. While it is a bit of a logistical challenge to keep everyone happy and awake, it feels a bit too much like just running a routine rather than planning and executing. Maybe some random events that can all of a sudden affect mood? (someone pees in the pool, injury on the tennis court, etc.) Having a panic moment to manage here and there could, I think make the routine of keeping everyone managed feel a lot more satisfying.
Cool! I really like seeing interesting takes on the choose your own adventure/experience type game. We need more of these and this one was pretty fun. I occasionally found questions that just seemed like they had two wrong answers, and I didn't always understand or agree with the effects of my answers, but that's an issue that I'm sure could improve with more time and polish. Good work!
This was a really fun game, but I wish there were more reason to try to use the brake release button. There was no real hurry to get these people to their proper floor, so there was really no reason to risk using the brake release to get them there faster. I played this game for way too long! I couldn't stop! It was a little hypnotizing! Over all, I really liked it, but wish there were more consequences for being too slow.
Your mechanics are solid. All the systems seem to work, and I had a good time building up my hotel and making money. I didn't feel particularly challenged though. Is there a lose condition? I think the biggest thing to add to really make this game shine would be a customer rating system. You could make it fun, too. Like maybe a fake Yelp with customer reviews procedurally written based on their room stats, and whatnot. Good game, good entry!
I am won! This was a really fun little area fighter. Given the time constraints, I'd say it was executed very well. Things I'd like to see polished would be maybe some variation on attack animation, and either a block/dodge, or multiple different attack types so you can counter instead of just attacking at the same time as the enemy. Nice work!
I have never enjoyed cleaning toilets this much in my life. It was almost more fun to lose just so watch peoples' reactions.
I love your camera system. I didn't manage to find the poster, but I think I probably could with a little more time into it after reading the hints. Music was very atmospheric and relaxing, and your sound effects were just the right amount of subtle. With more time for polish, you could make an awesome puzzle adventure out of this.
Very well done. I love the balance created by gaining magic back from kills. It really pushes you to plan your combat and use all your resources. I'm impressed by how polished this looks given the time constraint, and the sound and music fit well. I had to search comments to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong after I killed all the enemies, so I see that lack of win condition has already been mentioned. That's pretty much the only part I didn't thoroughly enjoy.
I think this game could benefit a great deal from subtitles. The speech audio seems a tad quiet at times. Aside from that, this was haunting. You've created a creepy atmospheric experience with just a few pieces. I actually thought the walking animation, while a bit unusual, really added to the overall feeling of subtle discomfort the room is creating.
Seems like this would be a great party game, and that controller set-up looks like a hilariously good time. The game in its current state is pretty bland, but I can see what you were going for. I think going fully 2d probably would have let you take this as far as you wanted in the time given :]
Couldn't get anything to happen when clicking on the bed. However, the graphics are very nice, controls feel smooth, and I like all the little details in the room like the opening doors and drawers in the closet, and the stuff on the floor.
The presentation here is superb. Your graphics and audio for a 72 hour game are top-notch, and the atmosphere makes you excited right from the start. However, I found the controls to be pretty clunky and tough to work with. With some more time to bring the feel of the gameplay up to the same level as the presentation, you could have an excellent boss game.
I wish there had been some music for this game, because it was a little stark without it. I liked all of the different options for how to change all of the bars.
Appealing graphics and very nice aesthetic theme to the whole thing. I do think variable jump height in the controls would help a lot. Clearly a big chunk of the work here went into boss behavior, and it shows. The way the tentacle eye peeks out of the door before showing up was a very nice touch. With a little tweaking on the clunky feeling of the jump, this could a really great cratebox-like.
That concept. The rotating room refresh is unlike anything I've played, and it was really interesting. I did find the feel of the controls to be a little bit awkward with having all the controls on one hand, and one-hit deaths may be just a little bit too harsh of a difficulty curve, but I really enjoyed my time with shadow wall. Good work!
I liked the music, and this was a fun game! A pickle with legs was a little disconcerting haha! I almost wish the pickle was just bouncing around with no legs, because it would maybe have been less creepy, but then would the game still have the same charm? Maybe not. Fun game!
Very well done. Really the only thing this game lacks aside from the disband button already mentioned is polish. Excellent work for the time constraint. Please make a full version of this!
This was a really good looking game! I wish there had been just a small bit more direction on which way to go to get to your different goals, and maybe less switches, because I was SO confused there for a minute. After I got used to the controls, it was really fun!
I probably would enjoy this more on a tablet or phone, but I played it on PC. Playing with the mouse feels a little funky, but it worked. This is a cool idea, but I think the basic mechanics of it need a little more depth to feel more like a challenge to overcome and less like a chore. Seeing the results of the items you move up is satisfying, but it started to get a little repetitive. I really liked it while I was playing to figure it out though!
I am rubbish at racing games and this was no exception, but I still had a great deal of fun. I love that the car physics really make you feel like a toy car. It made this feel different from your average racer. I did have some issues with wall clipping and the occasional "car flips over for no apparent reason when I hit the brakes" instance, but this didn't really detract from my enjoyment. It mostly just made it feel more ridiculous. Nice work!
Wow. Just wow. This is great. This game is an excellent example of knowing the limits of a gimmick. The very thing that makes this game interesting (the crane arms and room reset every time you go through a "door") could be come grating and annoying if the game were any longer, but the one room experiment has really struck the perfect balance.
I love it. The whole game feels deliciously arcadey and the puzzles are just challenging enough to be solved quickly with little to no frustration while still feeling satisfying. Your high contrast character and enemy art really makes the game fun to look at. My only complaint would be that the environment graphics look a little lackluster in comparison. I beat the whole thing and I might play again! Good job!
I didn't want to stop playing this game, even though it was super hard! The fact that the kids can bounce each other out of their seats is hilarious, and challenging! I really wish there had been some kind of zaney music to go along with this, but it was fun even without it!
