I thought this was pretty fun. It was very difficult to be caught and have to start all over just due to the speed of the game being relatively slow. Sometimes its really hard to wait for the kids to turn around at the right moment. I wasn't able to beat it all, I got to level 4. If it's fairly short, I would consider putting like a 1/4 2/4 counter at the bottom right of the screen just to give other player an idea of how much is left. Or , really alternatively, I would fix the pacing. It's pretty challenging to move at the right moment, which is nice that the challenge is there, but having to start the entire level over when you lose feels frustrating. At least, it does to me. Anyways, I like the idea. I would also suggest crediting the musical author, or if you did the chip tune yourself, at least credit that it is based on the author's tune. (or maybe that's in the credits, I haven't beaten it)
Hilarious! and awesome!
That game was solid
Honestly, it's hard to tell what to do here :/
This game was really fun. I felt it would be nice to see a color spread over the galaxy as you gain control. Or perhaps, an image of how big your civilization is, or both! A note though, after a while, the game seemed to become just factory making, which kind of dragged out :p still has a good time!
The platforming is a bit difficult. still a few bugs but that aint no thang. I would have liked a "You win" message if you collect all of the shards. Also, making more re-spawn points for if you die, might be an easy way to re-leave the stress of dieing.
157 was my points! Pretty fun!
I really enjoyed this!
This was really fun, but I felt it could use more powerups. Graphics were great as well as audio, though a song would have been nice. This entry was spectacular, but at one moment I got surrounded by a bunch of dude really rapidly and died. There's no heals! not that I could find.
I am using windows 7 and it is running okay here. Thought it was p fun ^.^
I rather enjoyed this. I would have to say that some of the things seemed a little ambiguous. I didn't realize that the soap bars would harm me for a while. Also, sometimes the soap bars spawn somewhere I was already moving so I hit them with out a chance to avoid. The movement seems a little too fast to try to avoid something like that. If the game was slowed down a bit, I could imagine heading a direction, then seeing a soap bar and moving out of the way, but at the current speed it feels pretty difficult to dodge anything. Perhaps, as you survive longer, the game moves faster (and music speeds up as an effect).
I loved this game!
This game is either confusing or provacative. I can't decide.
I really enjoyed the mechanic and the play on the theme you have. I felt the idea all came together as a whole.
I thought this was cool and intriguing. I wish there was a little more I could learn about these characters, unless there is something I'm missing. Anyways, i like the blend of flat 3D shapes, and 2D sprites.
The control scheme is weird but awesome once you get used to it. I had a score of around 3110 before I stopped. Honestly, I usually have small critiques on these games, but the only thing I can think of for you is to make more stuff. Multi-player, more levels, etc... and the power ups need some balancing, but the game is really fun!
I had trouble playing this. A guide would really help. Even published Point n click adventure games usually have a walk through in case the player gets stuck.
wow.. I'm... really impressed at how much got done in 72 hours!
had a glitch after "maybe your destiny is to run in circles" or something like that. Anyways. thought it was really cool.
I liked it. My time was 14:36 and 52 deaths fyi. I felt there was a lot of story that could have been put in still, but there really is only so much you can do in 48 hours.
This was hilarious! I did feel, though, like there could have been more teasing before the victory
I'm not sure what to say about a visual novel being in a video game contest. I certainly enjoy the notion of the visual novel medium being like a game, but this lacked a certain choice aspect and the interaction between the game and the player was in part limiting, in that it was only clicking, and also, very interesting in that there was a certain mental emotional interaction between the player and the game. That being said though, there is that kind of interaction between a viewer and a tv show, or a reader and a book, so I'm not sure I would consider that to be analogous to playing a game. It would be interesting if, perhaps, there was some small interactions in the background of the game. For example, if it showed the person on the patio, and you could walk around the patio, but were still trapped there. Anyways, the story was lovely, and the music set the mood very well.
A little audio could go a long way! Also, the different enemy types have the same speed and capabilities. It feels as though I could just keep running forever if I wanted to. Anyways, Congrats on completing! A lot of LDers don't even finish.
That was fun! I expected to win just by leaving my computer up but when I found out it had active play I really enjoyed it. It is a bit steep of a learning curve. The game starts before you really know how to play.
p fun. I felt kind of confused starting off, as to how the game worked. The axe felt like it wasn't doing much. Some small sound effects (and some damage numbers popping up) could go a long way!
Cool Game. Pun not intended :3. I didn't read the instructions at first and was really confused on the controls. Learning curve seemed a bit sharp, and not being able to attack someone already in your square was kind of aggravating.
This is the best entry I have played in the LD so far, and I've played about 50. This game is awesome. I do have some irksum things though, that I would like to note. These are my small criticisms:
The creatures are impossible to escape. It gets really annoying to be trying to figure out something visually and then these stupid guys start eating at you. There should be some means of escaping them, or perhaps you could make like the green shard thingies a deterrent for them (like they won't go near the shards), then you could place the shards in places for a safe haven for the player to use while they look at something and plan out their next movement.
The Magni screen is useless. I have no idea what it does, it certainly didnt help me find any craters. I saw that it turns a light on at your feet, and I tried lowering the screen and using that light to move, but it's just not possible to see any craters before you are already in them.
I was not able to beat this game dues to frustration. There was one crate left to check for me, but I got really tired of falling down craters and mapping out the ground using trial and error.
Anyways, those are my criticisms. Again though, this is my favorite submission so far, so don't let those detract from my how awesome I thought this was (atmosphere, idea, gameplay, exploration, graphics, fun). Yeh.
Was pretty cool! I really liked the mood of the game and the idea. I have noticed that spinning while collecting blocks, sometimes causes you to lose. Anyways, cool game!
pretty fun! High end version got blocked by chrome (chrome said it was malicious???) low end one worked great though!
kinda difficult to punch dudes. Also, I'm not sure how to get more water, or if I can get more water.
Cute game! I did get hit once after I had finished a level. Also, I didn't beat it, but growing didn't seem like a useful maneuver to use.
So I played this one player. The game definitely seems like it would be a lot more fun with multiple players. Moving a block left and right was a bit difficult. Also, its hard to tell where your new block is until it is about halfway down, due to the camera angle.
Thanks for all the comments! If you are getting stuck please let me know where so I can put some hints in ^.^
I thought this was pretty cool, but I ultimately felt there wasn't a goal. I think it could benefit from some goals or achievements, something similar to incremental games, where the next goal seems to close that you keep going. keep it up!
This game intimidates me :(
I enjoyed it. Could do with some graphics and audio that help set the mood of the game.
Contrast made it difficult to see. Also, the first enemy is really hard to get past. You might consider writing some kind of script to produce a white light on the top of surfaces near the player (like the light coming off the magma dude to light up nearby surfaces. It would make it easier to see the edges when you are platforming, but would maintain the dark cave look. You could probably achieve this using ray-casting, to put light pixels on al nearby surfaces, with each light pixel being brighter if its close to the player and more invisible if it's far from the player. sound is awesome. I'm surprised you opted out.
For some reason, starting this game on my windows computer causes it to log me off ??? Anyways, I did not rate it because I was not able to run it. Just letting you know
I beat it! Score was 715:45 secs. I liked it. However... I did notice that there was a pattern that I could use to get to the top. If there were spike along the left side, this pattern wouldn't have worked forever but it did. If you look at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4BQnEaFh_gvMmdPR0pkNVZCbFE/view?usp=sharing If you number the parts from top to bottom. the very top piece being 0 and the very bottom piece being 11. the pattern I used was 6>2>6>3>repeat. Anyways, I thought it was a cool idea, and I can safely say that it ran on my windows 7 computer :)
very awesome. Wish it was longer!
Really neat idea. The controls system felt kind of challenging like I could place a balloon to kill a clown but I had to be careful not to be too slow or I may hit an object. I felt that some of the sound effects were overlapping, which was kind of grating. I think if the main menu played the background song so that the player was already familiar with it when they started a level it would be a lot easier to listen.
Most of the times I got stuck was because I was very carefully placing crumbs, trying not to place too many because I did not know how long until the next check point it was. Might I suggest you have a slow slow regen on bread crumbs, or alternatively, have bread crumbs pickups, just so players , at least early on, get a sense that they can spend them liberally.
This was fun and cool. But it was kind of more of an interactive experience then a game.
Cool game! Looks like you could have really used a bit more time to add in sound. Very fun
I figured everything out fairly easy. It was very cool. The graphics were stellar. Very awesome myst mood to the overall game. I enjoyed this.
Controls are difficult. It's kind of hard to see what you need to do. Visual this game is beautiful, and perhaps too busy.
Looks like you have to spend a lot of time learning framework. Might be good to spend time doing that before the LD. Also, you might check out something that faster to dev with, like gamemaker or unity. You can get a lot more done faster. but do what suits your taste.
Cool idea. Has a difficult learning curve that may put off some players. You might consider making the start of the game easier or adding an easy and hard mode.
time: 4:48
The mood of the game felt good. However, I was not sure how it was possible to figure out who dunnit.
It was fun, but I ran into some bugs.
Enemies stopped spawning. Some of my dudes would pile up on the enemy base and block from attacking it.
Also, By the time I was able to spawn abe, I had won. Possibly because no enemy units were spawning.
Overall I liked the idea. There were a few bugs holding me back from getting the full experience though. The title made me smile and I bumped you up a point on humor just for that. Be aware that you can fix bugs and do porting after you have submitted as long as it is just fixing something that doesn't work and not outright adding new features.
Incredible mood. The game play was strange though. I often felt that the only reason I died was because I could not click fast enough. The story was very provocative. It was a nice mix of mystery content to gameplay content.
Was pretty fun. I got into chapter 4 and was expanding like crazy when the game crashed. I would like to have seen the end.
The polish on this game is great, however, I was overall confused as to how the game worked. At some point it played the "!" sound from metal gear solid and then the boxes on screen started shooting at me and my opponent was scoring points by just standing still. The boxes kept respawning. It took me a while to figure out that every time I got hit, the enemy would score a point. Also, I hit a glitch in the main menu when I looked at settings and hit escape to leave the settings menu. I didn't count off for the bug but just wanted to let you know.
Fantastic!
Wouldn't run for me on Windows.
So cyuuuuuuuuuute!
Could use some sound effects. If you expanded this into a full fledged game (maybe zelda-esk) I would consider buying it. I actually really like the mix of 3D terrain and 2D enemies.
It worked fine on my Computer.
The story in your description was great, and I really liked the idea behind the gameplay, that being said, I think your execution was off. Running from zombies is only interesting for so long, also the screen is very small so it is difficult when zombies pop in from off screen from not very far away and you have to react. but it seems like you have the core of a really cool game,
I really enjoyed this. Played up to wave 73! around wave 10 on wards the game gets really fun but also really easy. The green barrels occasionally beat some of the levels for you. I think it could do with just a tad more difficulty added to the later stages.
level design was strange because I was unsure of the path to take. In the end I actually enjoyed finding my own path, sort of open world style. fun submission. Keep at it!
I was playing on amateur and I got to around level 20 when the game glitched and just started sky rocketing my level and multiplier.
Pretty fun. Had a hard time just getting through the original hack, but after that it was easy.
Death Toll: 676
Post-Terrorism Trauma Days: 230
Hacking Speed: 5

Total Score: 911
This was awesome! My only wish is that players either, had more health, or players would respond after a while. I would love to see a post compo version with a few more maps and on of those things I just mentioned implemented so matches last longer. So far they last ~1min. It would be nice if they lasted ~5-10 mins.
It was fun until I recognized that I could kill enemies easier by just letting the ball sit so enemies run into it. Also at one moment the ball fell dead center from the top and the enemies stacked on top of it. Cool art. cool concept.
I was able to beat everyone, including the final boss.
This was a pretty good submission and I'm glad you posted it. Here's my feedback. The puzzle platformer aspect of it was really fun. However, i found myself often frustrated with the spikes that fall. They don't always seem to have a distinct pattern, and it was irksome to plan out a solution to a situation, and then attempt to implement it and get killed and have to start over the entire game. I think that if every level was it's own checkpoint, it might help to alleviate a lot of this frustration.
That was surreal. Definitely unconventional.
High score 125.
Fun game. Anyone who makes a game in java is impressive in my book.
a lot of nice polish went into this :3
Cool idea! I did feel that the mechanics of the game were hard to understand. I was able to catch bombs, but I saw a lot of things that I was not sure if they were interact able or not. I think just updating you entry description with something about the controls would help a lot.
175.77 seconds. I have to say the idea of smacking dudes with your cursor would have never occurred to me. This is one of the most innovative ideas I have so far.
I hit an exception when I shot the grandma and the bottle near the end.
please consider adding keyboard controls. Couldn't play it. Didn't rate.
this was crazy fun. The graphics were fantastic. I was surprised what you were able to have done in 48 hours, and in 3D too! Spamming my abilities was super fun, but it felt like the game was not too challenging overall.
Great level design. Mechanic was simple yet fun. I like the introduction of platforms you can shoot to activate.
The dialogue in this game is fantastically hilarious.
Played through it twice. Loved the dialogue and the aesthetic appeal. Takes me back to Roger Wilco days.
I'm kind of confused on how to craft weapons, and what combinations work. Maybe you can post some sample combinations? Also a sound effect whenever I hit would be nice to hear so I know i didn't miss. Great graphics. Great audio. Cool concept.
gameplay was little redundant and kind of boring, however, whenever a monster appeared, it often ended in death. The audio is fantastic, that combined with the visuals and the little narrative in the beginning give a great atmospheric mood. I played this longer than most entries just for the feeling you get, even though the game play feels a bit aimless.
Yo, many compers don't even finish their first submission so pat yourself on the back. You might consider opening up to a few more rating then just humor next time. Keep at it!
I beat it!
That was a surreal experience. I would advise you add a spot of music. It's also hard to tell the distance between the cube and a donut. The game was fun though. The donuts and bananas look great. I also love the sound it makes when you break a donut.
It was really fun. I like the mood and the idea of going through a spooky area and listening to recordings. I also like light as an unconventional weapon. However, I hit 2 bugs, one is that I collected one of the caches and it just played all of the audio recordings at once. The other is that half my screen got covered in blackness so I couldn't see. I ended up heading for the not shadow swallowed section of the screen for maybe 10-15 mins before I got caught.
This was awesome! My one qualm was writing "Daniels fires his weapon over and over". If you expanded on this to require other options than shooting I think this would be a really great game. Interpreters are difficult to write though.
Omg I was so scared
OMG! I have to make a game like this now! It's brillant!
I like that the game was really chill and fun to play. I also didn't expect it, but I liked that the game window was tiny. It really makes me want to make a game that you can kind of play in the background while your doing something.
Humor is hilarious. I will be showing my friend this game for that. Game is pretty hard though, and sometimes you can get moving really fast and not have enough time to react to an enemy. The level design could use some re-designing, but the mechanics are cool, the different forms are nice a varied and using a spectacle at the end of each level really felt like it keeps the player into it. Great job!
A little music can go a long way, even if it's just from a simple free music generation program online
Not sure how to get the tacos. :/
Great game. Amazing for a compo entry. A few small bugs still, but great all the same!
Didn't rate because I got stuck after going to bed. I Couldn't figure how to turn on the lights or even if I was just glitching out.
OMG such awesome visuals. It looked like I was so set up for a great time, I'm super sad you weren't able to finish any levels! I hope you make more after the jam!
Thanks! And yeah I am still sick but feeling much better. Thank you for your feedback! Loving the Feedback everyone!
I want to go to another world with the Inari! As long as it's a cool place :3
Awesome! I'm so glad people enjoyed it!
How do you generate your music? It's ultra chill!
I actually came back over to your game to ask again. hehe. How do you generate your music? Also, I tried to grab your music file out of your source to listen to it but all I can find is a .exe and a .mfa which Idk how to open.
Pretty fun. Funny idea. A little music could go a long way!
It's not very challenging, but it's surprisingly fun to move the ship around.
The ideas is good, the level design is great. The only thing that really kills this is having to start wayy over a level when you die. A very good submission though!
Damn yo, Dem Jams! Music was good. Gameplay was good but having to start entirely over when you lose was really frustrating. Maybe add some check points?
I REALLY Liked your game, but maybe that's because I really like exploration games. I really enjoyed moving around as a bird, but I honestly felt that the hawks were a bit unnecessary. The main joy I got out of the game was exploring the world while being able to turn into a bird, but when I see a hawk it pretty much broke up that play, but not in a fun or interesting way. Dieing after 2 hawks was rough, and not being able to restart in a close position really killed my fun. However, I really think that with a good theme and set of 3D art, some refined world gen, maybe some puzzles, I'd buy a game like this that was all about exploration.
Pretty good. I really enjoyed the puzzles and there general format. I did however get stuck in when I got to the area with the break room and the door. Not like stuck in the wall, but like I didn't know what to do exactly. A short walk through could really be good.
Good Game. Moving the body parts still feels slightly too difficult.
Pretty fun submission. Idea was cool and audio was fantastic. I'm really think you could have majorly kicked it up in a notch with a cool looking background and some small camera shake and just more input feedback in general. Anyways, nice game!
Mostly, this needed polish. I played one other game with a similar fit through the hole theme, I really think the idea is cool but it's hard to find the right mix of gameplay mechanics to make the idea have longevity. Either way it was a fun experience. I really like the way the dude's arms tear off when he doesn't fit through.
P.S. between the other game and yours, I thought yours was better.
Obviously the game is pretty bare bones, but the concept seemed really cool. I can see you being able to buy more rooms or gaining more rooms as the game goes on, making the sliding puzzle steadily more difficult as the game continues.
I thought this was really good. Only note is that being able to see what your typing while playing video games would be reallly helpful since it needs to be so exact. You might be thinking you wanted it to be that hard, but the issue is that it is extremely hard to tell if you are even on the right track. At the very least, show the last few keystrokes the player put in so that they don't mistype, or end of hitting a key too softly and wonder if it was put in. All in all this was one of the most innovative games I've played yet! Also I almost cried while laughing at the phone conversation at the beginning about the professor who wanted an essay with words that are less that 3 letters

It was rad as a tad mad dad on a pad.
A game that you play in the future and past in 2 tabs. really cool!
I'm all ready for Witches school!
Really fun game. I lost my first time, then I got it and it was great! a versus mode would be cool
Pretty cool game! The visual effects were really cool!
Being that language is an un-intended barrier between english players and the game, it would probably be okay to post an english version and just leave a note in your description that the english came after the working time, but is there so more players can try it for judging
Very solid Atmosphere and that is one of the critical parts to doing a good first person narrative game like this. but I was a little confused? I beat the game 2 different ways but I'm kind of unsure as to what happened. Also what's up with the key pad? Some hints would be cool!
Very Interesting game. I had no issue following the instructions and getting the game to play! The concept was really interest and you had a really cool take on the theme. That being said I was pretty confused when playing the game. I got pretty lost and I never quite figured out how the world worked, which would have been find and perfectly in the nature of the game but I got stuck in an area that was a loop. Eventually I closed the game and tried and again, but I somehow ended up there again. I tried and 3rd time and was able to move one of the cubes onto an orange button looking things, but I went to try and find another cube and I got back in that same loop room that I can't find a way out. Now I'm probably just an idiot and could have found a way out if I was any smarter but it seemed pretty confusing and it looked like there was a cool mechanic, but from my perspective I didn't understand what was happening. Still it looks cool, and I found it to be pretty interesting!
Nice! Wish it was longer
Pretty cool stuff. I actually really liked this. A spot of soft audio could add a lot of atmosphere/
I saw you playing and rating so many other people's games so I figured I'd give yours a shot. Pretty fun! I really enjoyed it. Pretty tough stuff! As a note I should say it was not immediately obvious that I could but stuff. Maybe have the text for Press Q to toggle store blink in between waves?
@Slimabob
Thanks! I'm so glad someone was able to do a 2-player run through it!
yeah that sound puzzle is a bit tricky.
Sorry for blowing out your ear drums with my boop sounds! I will have to turn them down after judging is over. *Cheers*
Oh, and a big thank you to the rest of you as well!
@Artsicle
"Congratulations! We hope you are enjoying you're new found self-kinship! Thank you for trying the ACER TEAM THERAPY!"
@tinyworlds
For some reason when I compile for Linux or Mac builds they never work. I don't have a linux or a mac computer to investigate why, though
@Piscythe
If you happen to read this, any details you can give would be really useful. Is your computer old? Are you outside the US (where the server is). Did you launch the game in windowed mode?
I was anticipating some lag issues (yes they can occur while playing with yourself), but I haven't been able to uncover any in my own testing.
Cheers for trying either way!
@Fuad "Thank you! We here at ACER pride ourselves on making the best quality in self- building exercises"
@Piscythe
Okay. Thank you so much for coming back and informing me. The issues seems so foreign and I'm just one programmer so if I ever go to polish this, I think I will just make a different mode for single player that just connects on your computer (without Churchill Internet). Again thank you!
@Fuad
Also I hope you meant Keep talking.
The other version I would think would be called "Stop Talking and Everybody Explodes"
@fafstudio
"SHAME is just 2 letters away from TEAM" - kinda
If you're arguing over the game then it must at least be pretty impactful. I liked it. It had a lot of polish. The meteor ending was kind of confusing, but it was cool
Really fun! Safe code was hard!
6841 points. Rock on!
Really cute game!
