Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-27T14:56:00
Flat out amazing. One of the most original entries I have ever seen in LD. You should be proud!

Flat out amazing. One of the most original entries I have ever seen in LD. You should be proud!
I love the idea. Very challenging and I enjoyed playing. Great job!
The fact that people can make games like this in 48 hours amazes me. I love the game play and I love the graphics. You did a fantastic job with this!
From all the reviews I have read, the AI is supposed to be bad but it kicked my ass! Very fun game. I really enjoyed playing it. Great Job!
Really enjoyed this game. Fits the theme well and the audio was good compared to many of the other games I have played. Good job!
Very good idea. I loved your idea. I got stuck after the first jump and didn't know where to go from there. Fun little game for what I got to play.
First, the game is really fun. Second, do not play on the hard difficulty unless you are alone and can drop some F-Bombs without any consequences. Great job!
Very enjoyable. Laughed the whole time!
I thought this was a very cool concept. The sound was a bit loud but was fitting for the game. Enjoyable game for me. Good job!
After reading the instructions, I was quite impressed. Something that looks on the simple side has a lot more depth than I expected. Good job!
Made it through the first two levels but the ice level got me. The controls are touchy but I think that adds to the charm of the game. Good job!
Loved the concept and the implementation. You did an amazing job for 48 hours!
Interesting idea. I liked it. Got stuck on third level.
Fantastic game all around. I loved it!
Very tough! Saturn tends to be a little drunk and Mars always ruins my score!
I loved the music. The story is also pretty good and the meaning behind the story is inspiring.
Fun and challenging. Controls worked well. The music was a good choice and I thought it fit well for what I thought of the mood of the game. Great job!
As everyone else has said, to be a 48 hour game this is very impressive. I love the concept and I enjoyed the audio. Great Job!
I thought the concept was very good. The game play also works for me. Maybe some instructions would help those not understanding.
The artwork is fantastic. You really did a great job with the game. The jumping does feel a bit weird but it is completely manageable. Overall a fantastic job!
Love everything about this. The Zelda item music made me actually LOL. Fantastic job!
Fantastic game. Expected nothing less
I love tower defense games and I enjoyed playing yours. One thing I noticed was that if I was moving my mouse at all the game paused. I can see how this might have been intended but it was a bit annoying sometimes and if it WAS intended I didn't like it. Overall, though, I really liked it and you should be proud of your effort.
11/10 - Made me feel like a complete creeper.
With your help I have spread OliveGardenism through the world and an Olive Garden now stands on every corner. I love these types of strategy games and thought you did a fantastic job. I wish there would have been some sort of end screen for being 100% but other than that I have no complaints. Great job!
I thought it was simple yet fun. I kept trying to go to fast which makes the game harder than it should because I wouldn't pay attention and ended up in oil. Very solid entry. Congratulations!
@Catwheel - Thanks for the info about porting and bugs. I was afraid that this might cause some problems and didn't want to invalidate my submission, even in it's buggy form. I appreciate your feedback :)
I threw a watermelon at the cops. 10/10. Love the music.
Couldn't get past the University for the life of me. Would have loved to check out the other levels. Very innovative game play. You did a fantastic job.
Great little game. Perfect effort for LD. Once I got the hang of the controls (I'm not a huge fan of using Z for anything) I was able to pretty much go non-stop until I started double jumping to make things easier and then I was out of energy fairly quickly. Overall I enjoyed myself. Great job!
Controls lagged a bit for me but other than that this game was perfect in every way.
Well the music is catchy...
At first I was like "WTF?" but when I got the hang of it I was surprisingly addicted. I also liked that you worked in Twitter integration. Good job :)
I liked the concept and the game play was nice. I agree with zzForest, the screen shake and explosions was a little much but over all I enjoyed it. Good job!

First of all, playing with a controller is a great addition. It also seemed to make it a little more easier for me. I'll admit I got stuck time and again trying to get past the first checkpoint area. The thing is I kept playing for a while which I tend to not do a huge amount for ludum dare games. The mechanics are fun and everything fits well together. Great job!
@chris-delta I thought it was fun when I first added it but I regret having the little political jab in there now. Thanks for the feedback. I truly appreciate it.
@armytag That is very solid and accurate feedback. It is something I wanted to do, increase chances of higher payout fish based on the word length, but time limitations prevented it from happen. Thanks for playing my game and providing great feedback :)
@lmb Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you taking the time to provide such detail in your comments. I know it takes time to do that and it means a lot.
I'm concerned about what you said about the sounds. While I did thoroughly read the rules and actually consulted them again during the competition because I had a question about code re-usage, I thought I had an understanding about the derivative stuff. I assumed because the asset was there for everyone that it was ok to use. Sort of like using an engine or and IDE. This has be a bit worried. Should I withdraw somehow? I mean it pretty obvious I'm not going to be a winner of any sort. I just wanted to have the experience of competing and the feeling of completing a game so I've got what I wanted out of it.
I like that it's simple but yet each time you can do different things and you get an option to add more things every time you make it through. Overall an enjoyable experience.
What a great take on the theme! The music fit so well with the game and the mood. I wish there were more levels to play! I think you all did a great job!
I love the concept. It played great and I think the game was well done. Music is a bit loud for my taste but it fits the mood of the game well. On my second playthrough the species counter only updated when I found a species that I didn't find the first time. Not sure if intended. Overall great job!
Very interesting concept and take on the theme. The sound effects might be a little harsh on the ears without a slider but it wasn't anything that turned me off. I think you guys did a great job.
What a fantastic entry! I love the mood of the game. The art is just amazing. Everything fits so well together. For some reason I couldn't get over how cool it was that you went from the title screen straight into game play. I thought that was really neat. You did a fantastic job!
At the start I thought, well this is going to be an easy little game. Surprisingly you will get smooshed before you know it by trying to move to fast. It has some decently addicting gameplay. I think the art style was fun and the music is catchy. Over all I think you did a great job!
Hard to say anything different that what has already been said. The bosses are hard and I like it. The graphics and sounds are great. I'd love for space to be jump but I assume that was a design decision. Great game!
The first thing that sticks out is obviously the name. I laughed when I read it and was immediately intrigued. Then I started playing and fell in love with the concept. Going deeper into a sort of new "level" when you hit the I thought was neat. Then I realized that there was a timing aspect to all of it because the snakes didn't stop moving while you were in the deeper level. I really enjoyed playing this and love everything about it!
To start I will simply say I love it.
To go into more depth, I love fishing games in general and you guys nailed it. The mini-game to catch the fish is fun (although I will probably hear the music in my sleep for the next few days). The artwork was fantastic. I played for over an hour just because I NEEDED to see the next area and then kept going and going. I also had to catch that final space fish just because I had to know what it was. It took a while but I finally caught it. I also love the Galaga Easter Egg.
Bottom line for me is this is easily a top 5 game (My opinion).
As others have said, the visuals are great. I like the puzzle aspect of it as I spent more time than I would like to admit trying to find the red key. I did finally find it but I kept getting killed in the same room. Obviously there is a mechanic I'm missing or maybe I need to enter from a different room. Regardless I enjoyed the game and I think you all did a fantastic job!
This has crazy depth for a LD game. I agree with the person that said it was more like a puzzle game than a builder one. I love the voxel art and the music. The voice lines were funny as well. You did a great job!
I'm not sure where to start. I liked everything about this. The music was great. I loved how it was minimalistic when not playing but ramped up during game play. I'm a fan of endless runner type games so this was a lot of fun. The fact that I could turn on my controller and play was also relaxing. Great job!
I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with this. I wish I could have played longer but I ended up crashing. I noticed one crash happened with I got too many ores and didn't bring them in. For what I got to play each time I thought it was fun. The graphics I thought were great and I liked the gameplay.
The artwork is great. The combat is difficult which I like. I can see how it would be greatly improved by the things you wanted to implement but couldn't because of time. Closing doors when you enter a room would have made it much more stressful (in a good way) when choosing which way to go. This is a fun little game as is and could be the core to something more fun. Great job!
I think there is a bug. When I got to the end I couldn't make out what the meaning of life was. If you could just go ahead and tell me that here that would be great :D. In all seriousness I enjoyed the playthrough and thought the game played well. The music was good and the gameplay was flawless. Overall a solid entry.
I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said. I loved playing it. I loved the sound effects and the music. I loved every bit of the humor in it. I'd be surprised if you don't end up with a top 10 effort here.
I think this is a great little game. Plays flawlessly and its the perfect size for a gamejam. It's very satisfying to play. The only suggestion I would have is to either turn the music down by default or have a slider. I wanted to hear it but it was overbearing. Other than that I believe this is a fantastic game.
At first I thought I was the good guy. Helping this guy sleep and eliminating the distractions. But as the time passed 10 hours I thought, well maybe this guy needs to get up. Then I realized that I was the bad guy. There is clearly some sort of natural disaster outside with all the sirens going by and he needs to get up to check on his friends and family. I was eliminating the phones and dogs trying to warn him about what's going on but I just kept him asleep. I have decided that I am the bad guy.
In all seriousness this is a very fund game to play. It's tough to add to what others have said. Maybe cut up the game into nights and such or ramp up the difficulty but it's super fun to play and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Great job!
Simple and fun game. The artwork and the sounds are great. Everything is so minimal but added together it all works fantastically. These are the types of games I love where it was clear there was a lot of work put into it but nothing sort of jumps out at you as over the top. A lot of room to add new things as well. Simply a job well done!
Enjoyable. Controls took me some time to get used to but it was actually intuitive when I figured it out. Music and sound effects were solid. Fantastic concept!
I LOVE the music. It's brilliant. The game was also fun to play once I got the hang of it. Finishing it left me wanting more. You guys can be proud of what you made!
Very fun to play! I loved the visuals and the music. It all fit together very well. It also seemed very thought out when it came to certain parts of the world. The difficulty in some areas was frustrating, but in a good way. The kind of way that made you have to slow down even though you still wanted to get through it as fast as possible. Great job!
I love the concept of the game. The tripping is a great aspect of a horror game and being chased. It's just like the horror movies when the hero is being chased and trips over everything. I think there could be some benefit of explaining exactly what the goal is. Is it just trying to last as long as you can each time or running somewhere? I played several times and couldn't quite figure it out. Overall I think this is a good game with potential.
