Really nice game, great puzzles.. you're onto something!!
Great graphics, nice sounds and the enlightments are funny (those remind me of Pascal from Animal Crossing a bit) Nice work!
I like the idea of a combination of typing and fishing.. I haven't seen that before.
Disco is life! Nice disco ball and variety in the levels as you go forward. Agree with previous comment on resetting a level, it takes quite some time to try again which is frustrating.
Quite polished for 48 hours, congrats!
Great graphics and sound/music! Could be onto something with this, like another poster commented, it's hard to understand why I'm getting sent back to the start. I'm sure you were running up against a time limit on this though!
Nice graphics and music and gameplay as well! Was pretty fun..
I liked the concept of using tone as a consideration for your weapon..
Very ambitious game for 72 hours, great work!
Pretty cool game, I like being able to collect the bones to fill out skeletons (one of my favorite parts of Animal Crossing too :) )
I like the idea of collecting evidence via fighting mobsters.. it would be cool (outside of compo time limits) if the evidence actually led to bits of info toward a larger plot
Impressive given the time constraints of the compo! If you take the game further, having a shadow where the player will land would be handy (hard to judge sometimes where you'll end up after a jump)
Great mood, nice art, good narrative.. having the player with a torch revealing things as they move added to the impact. I'm sure time constraints hit you guys but in a polished version it would be nice to be able to skip text (if you accidentally interacted with something you previously read and not want to read again) as well as being able to speed it up if you want to read faster. But overall great job!
The combination of Minesweeper with RPG mechanics is a really nice idea. Congrats on implementing a shop and those various powerups in the course of 48 hours!
Nice game! I like the shop aspect, and overall it reminds me a bit of an underwater Downwell, having to shoot spears while descending makes for some challenge.
Had fun with this! Nice graphics and sound.. you could be onto something here, maybe adding a time limit at some point to increase the difficulty (so person can't camp out waiting for a super safe time to surface)
@jason-wilson thanks! yeah the building on the right was intended to be a research center where you could buy upgrades.. longer hook, faster sub, etc etc.. but had to scrap that to make it in time. :)
@sheinxy thanks! I really wanted to add music, prior to Compo I was watching videos and playing with 1 Bit Dragon (https://1bitdragon.com/) but ya simply ran out of time.
@sanemsky thanks for the tip, if you're trying to go through a bunch of runs I imagine the 3 sec gets annoying after awhile..
@fargred thanks I'm planning on filling out the rest of the game if I can.. the fish get spawned in a similar area each time as do the obstacles.. so I'd like to add some variety there for all of those elements. maybe as you get deeper some of the fish hide under an obstacle a bit to force you to navigate an obstacle.
@pvp thanks! I was thinking about mobile, maybe if you hold down the screen you can move your thumb left and right to move the ship, but if you take your thumb off the screen it launches the hook, that way you could play it one handed. And having you stay in place while the hook launches could add a bit of a challenge too.
Great music and art and gameplay was fun as well although pretty challenging for me. nice job!
Nice job for a first attempt! It takes work to make scrolling and jumping etc going. And ya Aseprite is great! Good job with the sprites.
very polished for 3 days of work! Great job!
I like intro which gets you invested in the gameplay, and the enemies in pursuit add a good amount of tension.
Screenshots look nice but still a 404.
Neat idea with basing ideas on recursion, not sure if I ran into a bug or didn't understand something but got a blue screen after going inside a robot
I liked the variety in the levels and the "drill is coming!" added some intensity which is a good touch. I agree that the controls felt slightly off as it was tough sometimes to get the down and x right to pick up and put down vs. just kick it. if you had a separate key between pickup and drop and kick that might help.. but overall good submission!
