Innovative but I felt like it was missing something really unique, something to make it stand out

Thanks for making this! I found the use of the minesweeper mechanic really interesting. I thought it was a really cool way to design a strategy game. You also added a lot of cool details on top which worked really well. I was a bit disappointed by the balance of the game. I found just clicking and attacking everything was the best way to play, which meant it lost the strategy element. With better balancing this would be super fun!
Is there a way to mark a tile that is known hostile? There were times I knew that a tile had a bad guy but I couldn't mark it.
I thought it was an interesting new take on an old classic.
Fantastic idea. Really cool twist on minesweeper. Was happily surprised to see how much depth there was mechanically.
@cheesepencil unfortunately no :( I didn't quite have time
I've played a lot of minesweeper.... too much... I loved your approach to dealing with unknowables. a lot of minesweeper implementations like to generate a level with no guessing required and I always find that really boring. Having multiple types of expendable resources to probe with is fun.
Nice game! I like the mecanics! Great Job! The rpg mecanic is the best!
This is a really fun way to play minesweeper... well done :D
The combination of Minesweeper with RPG mechanics is a really nice idea. Congrats on implementing a shop and those various powerups in the course of 48 hours!
this is super fun and so polished! love it great job!!
Really cool minesweeper game! Love how you add the radar and monster battle mechanics to the minesweeper game. Having upgrades is also nice.
I'm amazed by the concept and gameplay. I really think this could be a commercial game if you expanded it and improved the graphics.
Fun new version of Minesweeper, I love the extra stuff you can buy from the shop. The one thing I really missed was the ability to mark a tile as dangerous.
I have played several different minesweeper games from this jam and have like this one the best! Here's why:
1)The different elements you could excavate added a level of mystery to an otherwise straightforward game.
2) RPG gameplay elements forced me to think about my moves instead of clicking around mindlessly
If I could add one thing to this game it would be music. Having something playing in the background would have made the whole game come togeather and taken away from the harshness of the sound effects.
Overall, awesome work! This game was fun to play and felt very complete for a 48 hour jam game.
I enjoyed this very much! I've never seen this take on minesweeper before with the enemies.
A cool take on Minesweeper! I see this has already been suggested, but right click to mark a tile as dangerous is a feature that is badly missed. Also, an option to show resources AND dangers on the tiles at the same time would be nice, as it would make decision making much faster.
All of my gripes have already been covered - great job! Love me some minesweeper
Enjoyed it very much, nice blend of good old minesweeper with progress. But yeah, marking the hostile tile could be really usefull hope there will be an update sometime)
This is a great example of how adding progression can change a game in exciting ways.
Cool concept, I haven't beat it yet, but will post the screen shot once I do. I want to write down the comments before I forget.
I really enjoy the mechanic of minesweeper, and I like the twist that not all danger are bad. I actively seek out bio to farm the damage and I kind of thought that was really good.
If you implement the click on "0" danger to open surrounding, that would be great. I can see myself coming back to this once in a while when i have the itch of minesweepr so maybe put it on itch.io so people can bookmark it
Ooo nice idea, my first LD (the 32 I think) was a minesweeper as well. It's very nice to mix multiple level of minesweeper. Maybe having a UI that allows to see all the layer at the same time would be nice.
NOOOOOOOOOO I misclick a few times and forget to heal =(... i had 20k ..... and I couldn't screenshot because it just go into the gameover screen...
Some final thoughts
1. The level is too big for a LD game, cut it by half will probably make the game a lot more enjoyable for more people. (people like to feel like they beat the game) 2. I like how the 3 layers add various level of deduction to the game. I mostly use danger + bio but when there isn't any safe spot after using those, I switch to Loot. 3. I misclick a lot of time while trying to move the map around, so either make the map smaller or use other button (like right click) for moving the map.
I'm still salty about my misclick-death, but I really enjoy the game. Good job
Quite the interesting take on Minesweeper. I enjoyed digging around, trying to avoid danger while getting treasure. The idea of having multiple types of tiles that can spawn adds more variety compared to regular minesweeper. I also liked how there isnt just one type of danger, or that a single miss = death like in regular minesweeper. There are things like the rocks, sure, that can hurt you with no way of fighting back, but the addition of the combatable dangers gave me a reason to buy stuff like the hull upgrades. I think with a bit of balancing and perhaps a deeper mine, there is a good idea here!
@zwodahs brutal :sob: yeah the fact that you can trigger terrain tiles while trying to move the map around was not well done on my part. You can zoom out with mouse scroll wheels (and I think trackpad pinch) if need be if that's what you mean by "make the map smaller". But in any case thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback.
What i mean by smaller is to shrink the playable area. I suspect that will screw up the balance a bit, but that would make the game shorter and much more enjoyable for a game jam game. It will not be needed if I can actually save and come back later =/
That's just me tho, I still enjoy the game a lot and might want to tinker with similar mechanics myself :P
Oh, nice multilayered minesweeper, I wish I could see at all the clues at the same time, as well as being able to mark some tiles (even if with a cost), so I do not need to repeat deductions. Combat feature and store were nice additions to bring greater depth (as well as the different enemies and hazards as you descend). I think the idea and core mechanics are very well thought, but the game lacks a bit how to present them to make the game easier to play. Great job!
This reminds me of some shareware games I'd play 20 years ago - really like the vibe and enjoyed it once I got into the flow. Could definitely use more exposition/explanation at the beginning as I found myself initially disinterested/frustrated, but as I understood how it worked I very much enjoyed! Nice one!
Cool take on Minesweeper! I love Minesweeper...
Nice game! I enjoyed it.
Managed to get $1000! The first spider battle caught me off guard, was not expecting that! Very nicely done. I think others have mentioned, but I'd like to have seen the two different modes in the same layer almost, so you could focus more on trying to analyse and pick the best spots to dig.
Nice take on Minesweeper ! Good job overall !
I love minesweeper, and this game adds alot to it, I really liked it
This was a super interesting take on minesweeper, I liked that you could switch between different scanning modes to get new perspectives on the layout of the map. I do wish there was a way to mark tiles that I knew were unsafe though (like flags in the original minesweeper), it got very difficult to keep track of that in my head and I didn't have enough money to bomb all the unsafe tiles.
Cool take on minesweeper, different types of 'bombs' having different layers making you want to click on some 'bombs'. Nice idea!
I really love your version of the minesweeper. I liked that not all the danger were dangerous, i went on farming the bio to get my way through the map and i found it very interesting to find different enemies, maybe if you choose to continue this game you could design another way to combat (like something more entertaining than just clicking on a button). I'm joining the other on the opinion that a way to mark tiles would be very cool too but maybe it should exist in a "normal mode" next to a "hard mode" without those marks ? I feel like the way to move the map should be different too, i didn't understand that i could move the map until i looked away from my screen and my hand followed my movement x) maybe it could be with the WASD ? or the arrows.
But of course you did this in 48h and it's reaaally cool (you definitely should put it on itch.io so we can bookmark it x)) !
Nice game! I feel like there could be a quicker way to see the danger/loot/bio without having to click on the button
Nice game, interesting innovation on the classic
Nice game, I liked the game a lot. I would add a little something extra to let the player know that they get xp by fighting enemies.
I actually really loved this one  I spent waaaay too much time playing  I recorded a video, but I totally forgot there is a STORE! So I went back and played some more, I got to the end and found the... ehm... mysterious creature who lives there  He is not forgiving...

There is my LP  For some reason YT disabled comments on this video and I cannot turn them back on. I am sorry, so sorry. :frowning2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4D7QPvx4vM
@Molpe so cool, thank you for the video!!
Really insightful to see the player's perspective -- looks like my implementation of scanning didn't do a great job of explaining itself. It should tell you what the tile's contents are in the message pop ups on the right side of the screen. It should also show you what the contents are if it contains Loot/Danger/Bio but there is no icon for dirt -- I think most of the times you used it you scanned dirt so it looked like nothing happened. So I should give better visual feedback when you scan an empty tile!
Thanks again!
Congratulations on your game, it is a great evolution of the minefield game, I believe that in the future with some visual upgrades, I may be making this game a much brighter, a big hug, if you can give your feedback regarding my game I will be grateful.
