great game guys. cool graphics and concept keep up the good work!
I really enjoyed the graphics and the music when you are the bobber. Although the actual gameplay was pretty simple it still got me hooked. I do not regret playing this. Good job!
I like the concept, and I really like the third person fishing scenes. Seeing those utilized a little more in the gameplay would be great. Maybe something like a rhythm type game or something to pull on the line at the right times until the bobber game triggers?
The bobber scenes are a cool idea, and I could see that being expanded to being akin to a bullet hell game with increasing difficulty and complexity. I do think the current transition to them is a bit jarring, mostly the instant switch from rather calm music to the much more energetic and loud music. Easing that transition in a bit might be a big improvement in that regard.
Definitely a lot of potential with this one, good work!
@kovi yeah.. the music was a last minute addition, and so I didn't realize until after that the music cut in so poorly. I intended to make transitions but it never made it in, definitely would've made it feel more polished. Thanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed!
@funemaker was that a fishing pun... that sounded like a fishing pun right there... anyways glad you enjoyed playing it, thanks for your feedback!
Pretty cool! I gave up at the beach since I wasn't good enough to catch the fishes there. Great music and art!
I enjoyed the simple pixel art. Nice job
Ah fishing :) I really enjoyed the game and the really great music! :)
Nice retro pixel art and groovy tunes. classic gameplay in both sequences. Definitely something fun here.
Very fun relaxing game, the bobber parts take heavy influence from the Undertale battle system so it felt somehow nostalgic, I also liked how the bobber kinda fights back your movements a bit, as if it was really reeling in a fish, the art looks great and the music is very pleasant, overall a very very good game, feels very polished to me, just perhaps add some kind of goal? but then again that's not really needed if the goal of the game is to relax and fish a little i guess, great job guys!
@vitor-milioni did you check the paper in the top right? Was unable to make it clear enough, but it allows you to progress through the game if you click on the picture! Thank you so much for the amazing feedback though, really appreciate it :)
This one was well done, and even more impressive when I learned they did this all in a day. Good job on the art and the gameplay is fun, if not a little bit repetitive.
Nice job. I loved the art and music. Gameplay reminds me of undertale combat a lot. Add some new upgrades (different lures maybe) and some new fish “combat” patterns and items and you’d have an excellent game here. It would probably go great with mobile. Nicely done.
Nice little game here! Maybe a feature that lets you know the fish value and a way to avoid cheaper ones would have been a cool addition, but overall I had a great time fishing. Great pixel-art too ;)
This was fun! I like the mechanic of avoiding the bubbles it worked really well. It got hard though, I couldnt catch anything on the second boat so I cant imagine how fast the bubbles get on the third one :D I love the art and th etop hat fish is my new favourite :D Great work!
Amazing game! Good job, guys!.
It was nice. One thing was I felt like all the fish, no matter their price, were the same difficulty so with the cheap ones I'd lose on purpose since it wasn't worth my time. Cool concept.
Wow. You guys had me hooked (no pun intended). I couldn't stop playing. Definitely had some Undertale vibes. It'd be amazing if each fish had slightly different mechanics, but knowing how little time you guys had to make it, I'm seriously impressed. Well done.
To start I will simply say I love it.
To go into more depth, I love fishing games in general and you guys nailed it. The mini-game to catch the fish is fun (although I will probably hear the music in my sleep for the next few days). The artwork was fantastic. I played for over an hour just because I NEEDED to see the next area and then kept going and going. I also had to catch that final space fish just because I had to know what it was. It took a while but I finally caught it. I also love the Galaga Easter Egg.
Bottom line for me is this is easily a top 5 game (My opinion).
Feedback - The game was way too grindy - The bob thing has to be more fast - I got stuck on the 999.99 boat
Really nicely done! I loved playing this. It was really relaxing at first, but in those later areas catching fish became real difficult. I loved that fact that you got better equipment as you gained money, and that you were able to catch more expensive fish. It really felt like a big deal whenever you were able to buy that new boat. I think it would have been really cool if there was a catalogue of all the fish I caught. I could look back and feel a sense of accomplishment looking back at the early fish. It would also be really cool if each fish had their own difficulty in the minigame, but I can understand that there might not have been enough time for that. This is not really a feedback, but what I think could be interesting is if you could use your money for other things as well. Like fishing rod upgrades that let you move faster, give you more life, or lower the time in the minigame. Maybe that is not entirely the feeling you were going for (and I would respect that), but it could add a bit more decision making to the game. If you had not mentioned that you could progress by clicking the paper in the top right, I probably would not have figured that out. Maybe it would have been an idea to make it flash or stand out in some way as soon as you have enough money for the upgrade? Thanks a lot for making this! Very well done :D
Don’t let the first two levels fool you. This game is designed by sadistic fish monsters. I got the Trawler but gave up before attempting the submarine. The pixel art is great. The game play loop nicely alternates between intensity and recovery, so you have as much time as you want to prepare for the next slice of hell. The music makes the game even more fun. I had great time with this one. Thank you so much for bringing this by my stream. Here's a link to the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007852839?t=9h18m44s
Loved the top hat fish!
@meritcoding sounds like ur just not very good at the game :)
I liked the pixel art and the concept of fishing meets undertale! It would have been cool if the bubbles had different patterns for each fish like they do for different enemies in undertale. Also, the yellow text over the white paper for the first objective is a bit hard to read.
The Deepest Fish
When I started this game, I certainly didn't expect I'd be fishing in the moon by the end of it! That was a pleasant experience, and I really liked the juxtaposition between the tranquil fishing scenes and the bullet-hell segment from the actual fishing. The way the tones of the guitar change from the fishing scenes to the minigame really helped separate the feeling of both sections, though I do wish there was just some more slight inclusion of SFX, feedback, and maybe even a few more notes or layers by the latter levels. :fishing_pole_and_fish:
From what you mention from your description, it seems like some folks missed that you had to click the paper on the right corner to progress and it does come out a bit like a menu icon at first. Something like an indicator, an exclamation mark or a notification when you're ready to progress to the next stage/boat would have definitely been a good call-to-action! The first note was also a bit hard to read with the yellow text in the paper, but the subsequent ones were fine!
While I think the bullet-hell minigame was pretty nice, I think that the final level was already a bit too long with the 65s fishing. At that point I started failing the cheaper fish on purpose to focus on getting the vampire squid and anglefish to make it to the final scene quickier. I think some extra variety on the bubble effects (kind of getting some inspiration from Undertale attack) would have been nice if possible! It would have been nice to see a few vertical bubbles alongside the horizontal ones, or maybe even some that would home in your direction. There are multiple ideas to be had!
Finally, I also echo @wuppos suggestion! I definitely would have liked to see some sort of fishing log with the different fish that you've caught, though I can understand that would have likely been out of scope! Some indicator of which fish you've caught in a zone would have still been welcome though.
I did consider the experience oddly soothing overall! Also how did I catch a giant whale from a fishing rod alone? That has to be one very strong rod. Then again, fishing on the moon. Videogame logic strikes again! Cheers! :whale:
The art style and mood fits perfectly to the meditative gameplay! Nice entry, well done!
Bought a boat. Then... hoped for a romance with a fellow she-fisherman - nope. Another boat - 999, really? I though it was a joke, so didn't try that far. Daft Punk'ish action fishing becomes quite repetitive. But liked the concept.
I really like this! Very relaxing :)
The graphics and atmosphere are great. Love the story of the poor fisherman trying to earn money and work his way up. Unfortunately it takes way too long to earn enough money to progress without a lot of variation in gameplay. But apart from that, good job!
