Hi I just played your game and had a lot of fun with it. The art style is super nice, and I loved the zoomed out camera. The gameplay is fast and nice which is great - I might suggest (and I know this goes against the idea of a tough platformer like this) adding checkpoints, at least for a jam version. While I did end up finishing it, I did want to give up a few times - and I think for many jammers playing games, they will run into this.
It was an awesome game though with awesome mood, congrats on finishing.
hey nice use of theme! controls are almost perfect. (a bit difficult with the keyboard as most of the times it requires going tiny bit of left or right.) love the atmosphere, i don't know why but i really enjoy games where the main character is tiny. overall I really enjoyed, great job! *just a question, does the music progress with the distance in the game? if so, great! if not, maybe the beginning part was a bit too long. I was about to complain about the music but then it got interesting. really fits the mood.
Geez those controls are rough, feels like playing super meat boy while drunk Strangely appealing, this game
Also, why cant I rate the graphics, I quite enjoyed the zoomed out view, and the pixel art? It is an easy 4 from me anyways
Good pixel art, nice atmosphere and good audio, thought it was pretty good.
Really lovely graphics - the jump didn't always work for me but it may have just been the way I was playing. If I took my time and stopped moving it always worked for sure, just seemed to maybe be a slight lag issue with moving and jumping (could have just been my browser, though!). I second @batiali that for some reason I really liked the tiny character, it just felt good.
Very fun to play! I loved the visuals and the music. It all fit together very well. It also seemed very thought out when it came to certain parts of the world. The difficulty in some areas was frustrating, but in a good way. The kind of way that made you have to slow down even though you still wanted to get through it as fast as possible. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback: @zoarfy that is a good point should have considered for the sake of the jam @batiali yep music progresses depending on which section of the game you are @luddegodofpain I opted out of graphics since we didn't make any of the assets but I am glad you enjoyed it :D
@pedsm alright that makes sense x) solid experience, this game all in all
@batiali yep the jump has a few issues, but it worked most of the time so we skipped polishing it for the sake of time. @breadstix Thanks! spent a lot of time in very specific parts of the map to make sure things worked
the graphics are cute, but the jump felt a bit...sticky at times? it felt a bit unresponsive. i didn't finish, but i enjoyed what i played, and might give it another shot later!
I liked the art style overall. I had a rough time with the character movement. I think its also a bit hard to deal with the platforms which are background/not collideable, they are possible to distinguish because of their less bright color, but the other platforms which can be stood on also fade to that same color when they are a bit further away because of the lighting effect, it makes it a bit frustrating to select which platform to jump to. I started out having fun falling as fast as I could before realizing I took fall damage, and slowing my pace down. It could help to have an indicator to show when you've fallen too far or are going to fast and will take fall damage.
Neat game! My only suggestion is to give the camera a little bit of lag time on the follow. Love the art!
Neat game, a puzzle platformer where the puzzle is searching out the exit to a maze. Liked the simple cute art style, good audio, nice bloom sort of effects. The controls were a little finicky sometimes, but it wasn't too bad. As far as suggestions, I agree that having the camera lerp towards the player position would probably be nice, but also some zoom effects, particles, and maybe screen shake could have a pretty big impact. Nice work!
