LD45 — Start with nothing

Draconomics by CyberStarLight 2019-10-09T00:44:00Z

Love the art and general aesthetic - really cute and funny moles. I would have loved the ability to fire my fire anywhere on the map though!

Soundmarine by Dustyroom 2019-10-09T14:58:49Z

What a stunning game - really beautiful. Chill game and great vibes. If I could add a couple things, I would love to see the targets you hit changing the visual effects too, making it a trippy experience. That was fantastic!

We Are The N-O-T-H-I-N-G by paulhocker 2019-10-10T02:16:24Z

This has a nice game feel to it! Love the glyphs floating above the characters head. It's cute and would love to see more!

Soulbound by ghost-in-the-toast 2019-10-09T14:05:33Z

This is a really cool implementation of a fun shooter system. One of the few games in a game jam I can safely say I would go back and play later. This is the kind of game I could easily see being expanded and would love to see more from you/you're team! Thanks for a great game!

Baby steps by freso 2019-10-08T18:58:17Z

Hi I really enjoyed your game - my favorite one out of this Jam so far.

I really liked the art style and animations of the baby - really well done. Controls were tight and it was fun to play. Perfect length too.

The only thing I would change was that the pacifier was a bit small and hard to find at times!

Once upon a chip by Wakobu 2019-10-09T15:23:06Z

Hi I really enjoyed your game. Packed with lots of charm, and a really great implementation of the theme.

A couple pieces of feedback: The opening was really charming at first, but repeating it a bunch of times because I died it very quickly became frustrating - a checkpoint after the table would have been perfect.

Also, some of the spikes for the rolling section felt unfair with such a small camera FOV.

That said, I think this is a wonderful entry. I really, really like how you conveyed the story really well in such a short time frame, and you did it with lots of cute and fun characters.

One eraser / one rubber by chispaLBC 2019-10-12T01:08:22Z

This was awesome! I love your visual style and graphics - I'm a sucker for wobbly animation. Really on point with the theme too which I always think is an awesome thing.

I thought the puzzles/needs of everyone also made total sense which is really great - sometimes these types of games can be tough to understand but I think you did a great job.

The Daily by huskitch 2019-10-08T01:15:14Z

This worked fine on my end - windows 10.

I really liked your game - beautiful art style and simple controls/gameplay loop that felt very on theme.

Overall this is a really beautiful package of a game.

Congrats on finishing.

Becoming Something. by zoarfy 2019-10-08T19:48:28Z

Thank you @nachtwitch that is very nice to hear! Much appreciated!

Becoming Something. by zoarfy 2019-10-09T00:48:46Z

@theog thank you very much for your kind feedback. I'm glad you liked the transition screens, I'm embarrassed at how janky the code behind that is (that's what happens at 3am Sunday I guess lol!)

Becoming Something. by zoarfy 2019-10-09T01:12:03Z

@twinsides Glad you liked it, thank you for taking the time to play it!

@saltfactory-studio Thank you for the kind feedback! Yes, the bench is a bit weird - the original plan was for everything to be a controllable object, but when I had to cut things, the bench ended up being one of the only things left as a non-essential possessive. Definitely a bit weird now haha but I'm glad you liked it!

@joeshanahan Glad you enjoyed it Joe! (And that nimnimnim noise was definitely not me recording in the early hours of the morning haha) Thank you for that tip - I felt the same way and couldn't quite sort it out in time, will definitely be updating it to include that change. Thanks!

@toppervideogames Thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it! The collision was the bane of my Sunday haha. I unfortunately had to give up on fixing the frog, but it's high on my post-jam fix list! Thanks!

@despdair Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the writing :)

No Kart by HALPCat 2019-10-12T01:13:09Z

Great ending to this and the walk cycles are hilarious! I really enjoyed this.

A couple small points of feedback: I had no idea what I was collecting above my head each lap. Also I think the AI sprites are messed up because there animations looked like they were running backwards. Overall this was really unique and funny! Great job!

Welcome Home by KP_CFTSZ 2019-10-09T14:16:28Z

This was really nice! At first I thought it was cute and fun, but then I tried drawing the "Wrong thing" and was really impressed you had drawing recognition to see that I wasn't drawing a desk! Really cool.

Love the general aesthetic and mood.

As a couple others have said, it would be nice to have the pencil be darker. Would also be neat if you could choose what furniture to add (like a choice between a fridge or sink.)

Adultery run by spider__the second 2019-10-12T01:45:55Z

This might be my favourite interpretation of the theme yet! This was fun with a great sense of humor to it! I did find everything was a bit fast though - It seemed like the people who caught me gave me no time to react. I think it also would have benefited form more stealth areas like the ponds. Overall though it was lots of fun and very funny, great job!

Rainbow Restoration by CrubeYawne 2019-10-12T01:19:26Z

Hi! I like the graphics - I thought they were cute and minimalistic. The ending was cute too!

To add some small feedback, it would be nice if the outlines of things existed before you grabbed their color. I.e. have an outline of the green ramp so when you get eventually grab the block you know where to return to!

Pimp my voxel by TheoG 2019-10-09T01:07:02Z

Wow what a fantastic game! I absolutely loved this. Lots of charm and polish packed into it, and the central mechanic is fun and nothing like I have seen before.

Also I love the depth of field effect.

One thing I'm not sure if it was the intentional solution or not (which I loved either way) was to get up at the table at the end I would jump and then re stack cubes to continue jumping higher to get on the table.

Loved this!

VaultSmith by DigitalLimestone 2019-10-08T20:03:16Z

Hi fun game!

The music is fantastic and the art is charming and funny (I love the slimes!)

I did occasionally die from immediately walking through a door a couple of times though... The other thing is I would love some sort of UI/Feedback for when you gain crafting items. i had no idea I was gathering just from killing stuff.

Seriously impressive for a compo! Congrats on putting it together!

Departure by Nathaniel Jensen 2019-10-09T14:44:58Z

Hi I just played through the full thing. There's an impressive amount of puzzles and content which is fun. I enjoyed playing through it a lot, but the walking speed was WAY to slow, it almost made me quit early, but I kept going because I was really enjoying the puzzles.

I felt like there could be a little more direction at the very start, at least to get the first puzzle going.

Overall I really liked it, it felt like a very complete and whole package.

Roman & Ownin' by mharring 2019-10-12T01:50:16Z

This was lots of fun! Impressive how polished and smooth this is for a game jam game! Congrats to the team for putting together such an awesome game!

Dreamscaping by Kirbloid 2019-10-12T01:40:48Z

This has some great vibes and mood too it! In general this is a really strong submission! I love the character and art style and I love the central mechanic of combining the orbs to make dreams.

I would love if there was a way to decrease the meters though? Maybe there was but it wasn't obvious if so.

Becoming Something by Gossian 2019-10-09T15:11:10Z

Hi I just played your game (because our games have the same title lol). Some thoughts - The mechanic in the first level was my favorite, it was really enjoyable to get a bigger light. I was hoping that subsequent levels didn't use similar mechanics.

Level two was very frustrating going through an invisible maze (honestly not sure if this was a bug, but since it was the only level like this I assume it was not) It would have been nice to do a mechanic like the first level in which gathering the pieces reveals more of the level to you and becomes easier to navigate.

I liked the paint mechanic of level 3, that was pretty.

Unfortunately I encountered a bug on level 4 and had to stop. I got stuck moving perpetually upwards and had no way to get to the goal.

I love the aesthetic of your game and the poetic story, this was a great job!

Alone by Becher 2019-10-08T19:18:05Z

Wow I loved this game! I love the feedback on mining stuff and gathering. Pretty straightforward but fun. The central mechanic of the map growing to make things more difficult is really fun (though made easier definitely by the ability to plant food).

Really impressed with the art style too.

The only thing I would consider adding (I know scope is limited in a jam of course!) is some sort of enemy/pest for crops. Right now it's easy to just grab food and plant it by the home base to stay alive indefinitely. Would be a good addition to shake things up!

BoBoBot by bigwhiteshogun 2019-10-09T15:44:36Z

Hi I just saw your making of post and thought it was great so I wanted to play your game. This is a great entry. The art is fantastic a cohesive, and I love that the power ups are robot themed and not just generic metroidvania upgrades (love the magnet!)

The only point of feedback I have is really that I think the game would benefit from Coyote time, especially in the sections where you have to carry the blocks over the electricity.

P.s. I agree with your dev post about the theme!

LIME by CGIXE 2019-10-09T14:23:19Z

Hi! Very ambitious! Great that you were able to pull it off. I had some issues with collision (Digging under me and I would float.) Which made it challenging to play through the full thing.

But I enjoyed my time with it!

Spook and Deliver by Chauwizaud 2019-10-10T02:52:51Z

Honestly I'm just really impressed to be playing a LD entry that is fully voice acted haha. Great humor in this, glad I checked it out!

Village Simulation Game by JoeShanahan 2019-10-09T01:24:16Z

Wow this is really cool! Really impressive for the time frame of the jam.

Love the art and music I think they mesh really well.

I'm really glad you include the time-skip arrows at the bottom, I think a lot of entries in the game Jam often can feel slow, but I love that I can choose a faster pace. Was there a manual way to eat? I had a lot of trouble keeping my villagers above red/low yellow health.

I really enjoyed this and am super impressed you were able to put this together in 72 hours!

itemless by NachtWitch 2019-10-08T20:01:25Z

(that last comment was posted on the wrong game oops)

I really like the art, and how it is Minecraft-esque. Great content too - and I'm impressed how much you were able to include in it!

Zombug Slayer by jordanvang 2019-10-08T20:25:11Z

Hi - just played the game.

I love how the gun works, it's really, really fantastic. The only thing with that is when buying new guns it would be nice to have a visual indicator (I had no idea I was using the shotgun until I started killing zombies with it.) The art is really cute, it's a nice cohesive art style.

I did encounter some pretty bad lag, especially at the start.

I also personally really like the meta narrative, it was fun. I really enjoyed your entry, congrats on finishing!

Merge Dungeon by ScottDev 2019-10-09T15:34:59Z

Hi I just played your game and really enjoyed it. I don't normally like 2048 but I loved this. I agree with what justcamh said above, but I want to add more thing to it that I think could be improved. I think it should cost health to attack too, (or there could be other solutions of course too) because if I ever had a low value in a bad place (like next to my big tiles) I would just throw it at the monster. It became very easy to just get rid of tiles I didn't like the placement on.

That said, this was really really fun! I played it longer than any other game in the jam so far!

Alien Planet by Steffy 2019-10-12T01:01:17Z

Hi I love to see claymation games - very cool that you tried to pursue it. Sorry you ran out of time - would love to see you finish it because the visual style is excellent :) Thanks for making it!

The Ninja Chronicles by SaltFactory Studio 2019-10-09T01:38:12Z

Hi! Loved the upgrade system - was really fun to have powerful ninja stars that would pierce through enemies! The Ninja Stars in general were really fun - just something really satisfying about throwing them out there.

At first I wasn't sure about the enemies on yellow platforms that I couldn't hit, but then I ended up really liking their inclusion, it added a fun challenge.

One small frustration I had a couple of times was when some of the ninjas on the next platform would notice me early and come right to the edge of the platform. Since you can only face forward I had no way to deal with them except passing them.

I really enjoyed this - it was lots of fun and very satisfying!

The Slime Slayer by Evepto 2019-10-12T17:19:15Z

Hi! Just played your game. I think the graphics are really cute and the makings of a fun game are here!

A little bit of feedback: About 3 different times I died immediately to a spawning slime from above. This could be easily fixed by spawning the player on a lower platform. Also a couple of times the sword was on a platform out of my reach that I couldn't get (jump wasn't working for me.)

That said I really liked the graphics you had going, and it reminded me a bit of Super Crate Box. Congrats on making the game!

LD45 - Start with nothing by oHNQApWJgcPr8vAI9CxO1MMonUgLJxwi 2019-10-07T22:33:05Z

Hi I just played your game.

I really liked it - incremental/clicker games are something I really enjoy.

A couple small bits of feedback:

It would be great if you could place multiple of the same building without having to re-click the buttons at the bottom. (I want to spam houses haha)

I wasn't sure how to get the iron mine at first. It felt like I had to place a storage before I could build one? I did end up building it it just took some trial and error.

I then got stuck at the tools - I couldn't figure out how to get any.

Congrats on submitting!

Nothing Found a Ludum Dare 45 game by despdair 2019-10-08T20:15:15Z

Hi I just finished your game. The story was nice and clear - the third story beat is strong, especially the spider painting that's hidden. The music is really great too!

A couple of bits of feedback - The last note in each scene prior to the scene change didn't work, it would always change too quickly, which is too bad, I definitely want to know what they said! I also found the walking SFX a little annoying as it was a little loud and repeated (but the music was so good I didn't want to lower it!)

It was a really nice game, I hope you continue to develop story-based games like this!

Dante's Infernal Dig by TwinSides 2019-10-09T01:39:37Z

This was a really fun clicker game! I like the progress of moving progressively down - I think that kind of fun visual feedback is something that a lot of idle/clicker games are missing.

Ludum Date 04:50 by irys 2019-10-12T01:25:05Z

Hi! This was really cute and fun. I don't think I've ever seen a VN in a Ludum Dare before so that was really fun. It's great building your friend's character too!

Overall a nice, chill game I think we can all relate to! Great job to the team.

Pile of Corpses by TORT60091 2019-10-11T21:15:24Z

This was fun! It's really satisfying to build up a pile and run around on it!

One minor suggestion I would have - is you aren't actually able to shoot directly down, because of the way the character flips. I was standing on the roof and wanted to get the zombies but had trouble.

Outside of that, this is a fun and charming game! Nice job!

SlimeySlime by WhatNameGames 2019-10-09T14:52:24Z

This is really impressive for only having 15 hours! The art style was really charming, and I loved the animations. I did run into a couple of collision glitches where I should have died but that's it!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Adrift by cdunham 2020-05-10T17:40:13Z

Great job with the game! I like the mechanics you continue to add over the first few levels to add variety. The boost pads were interesting (and I liked the SFX with them too) although the turrets didnt feel that bad because often you could use them to push you where you want to go (maybe that is intentional). It did feel like the best way to play though was just to slowly tap out fuel so you drift more and are in control which is not the most fun way to play. And I got stuck unable to restart when I was caught in between 3 turrets and had no fuel but they kept pushing me so it wouldnt trigger the restart. Overall congrats on your game!

Bear Naked Polar Party by stuckne1 2020-05-04T17:34:36Z

Hi I just played your game and it was hilarious! I love the dancing polar bears lol. It took me a few tries to get a longer party than lord of the rings. I did find your game rather challenging, I think adding some sort of visible cooldown meter could be helpful to understand what might be fresh - though I understand it would be to do that and maintain the challenge of your game.

You game really excels in the details though! You have great humor and I love all the different effects you can do! It was really fun experimenting with the polar bear party! Congrats on submitting!

Party Pooper by kookiedough 2020-04-24T19:28:06Z

Hi I just played your game and really enjoyed it - one of my favourite interpretations of the theme so far. I also really liked the character art - it suited the tone of your game very well!

One suggestion I would make is making the difficulty increase faster. The start was a bit slow, and I found it to be best at 30 seconds left.

It was really fun and had great mood - congrats on your game!

Keep IT Alive! by flynn 2020-05-04T17:24:53Z

Very cute game! I loved how the game progresses as the various team members die. When the artist died I had a total "oh Wow!" moment, seeing what you did with the art change.

Speaking of art, your artist did an absolutely brilliant job! The creatures are so cute, and there's a really smooth animation style going on. The VFX artist also did wonderfully, as I love when the chromatic abrasion effect comes on screen.

The two suggestions I have if you keep working on this game: 1) It would definitely benefit from a tutorial. It took a playthrough to really understand what was going on 2) I found this very challenging even once I figured out the controls. I felt like I was letting my whole team get murdered, lol

I really, really enjoyed this entry, I hope your team is very proud of your submission.

Agewalker by Tom Robson 2020-04-28T21:00:54Z

Wow, honestly amazing job with this. I think this is easily the most impressive game from the jam Ive seen so far. It goes without saying that the art is phenomenal and together with the music and SFX it creates a great aesthetic. There was also much more than I was anticipating from a game jam game! You could actually explore and get other abilities like the dash and shield which is so cool. The screen transitions were a bit annoying since they lasted a long time, stopped the music and then sometimes put you right into an enemy to get knocked back to the previous screen. I also accidentally would run out of the boss room because I got too close to the screen border without knowing, and resetting was a bit annoying. But overall incredible job!

Job-Changing Janitor Fights Off Zombies And Tries To Save Patients At A Hospital by Grentacular 2020-04-25T16:22:27Z

Really cool idea, and good job executing too, congrats! I think it was really interesting to swap between different roles with different abilities but still have to manage the fact that you have a limited number of uses before needing to buy more. It goes without saying that the pixel art is stellar and the music and SFX were great to help tie together the aesthetic. I liked that there were NPCs there that were competent but it also felt like you didnt really need to do much and everything would be okay. As some have said above, as a local co-op game where there were no NPC's and you could all change jobs to fit the current scenario, I think it would be really really cool. Overall really great job!

Wanted: Alive! by Dan Colman 2020-04-25T20:52:52Z

Just played your game and this has been one of my favorite takes on the theme - it's really unique! A great twist on a classic western trope too!

It's obvious you guys put a lot of care into this game - it was especially cool to hear different sound effects depending on what the bullets hit.

A couple quick suggestions for you if you decided to continue developing this:

1) It would be nice to have a visible cooldown for the dodge-roll. It was a fun approach technique, but I was always a little hesitant to use it because I wasn't sure if I had it.

2) Though i loved the sound effects, I might recommend adding a sound effect to telegraph a bullet is coming. Maybe a quick gun-click before he shoots so you know it's coming!

Overall a great entry guys! I loved the VO too! I hope you're proud of your submission, it's excellent.

Reef Rush by Sam Dower 2020-05-10T17:49:44Z

Nice job! I like that the setting is something we dont see that often. Underwater and protecting a reef that you build is a really good idea. I think there are lots of ways to take this and expand on it in fun ways, so you definitely have a strong base. It was for sure really hard at the start before I realized the spawning was fixed in an order, then it was just about constantly killing the enemies and if I could sneak in planting a plant. But once you planted them all it would just be repetitive killing in the same pattern. Overall good job!

Polygons of Light by Poulpint 2020-04-28T20:34:49Z

Great job with your game! I really enjoyed playing through it. I like how you designed some of your levels and the way in which you used moving shapes and light sources to create areas of light and dark that you had to move between. It was interesting too to first figure out that you had to go through the light to complete the level and that you wouldnt die immediately. As others said, there were some framerate issues but not too big of a deal. I wish the levels weren't too much of a waiting game at points and that there was more difficulty with how precise you could move. But great job! Love the music too

Ethereal Tale by Optimans 2020-05-10T17:31:38Z

Awesome job! I feel like you dont often see rhythm games during a jam and I feel like that is because they are hard to do but you did a great job. I really liked the idea of mousing over sections and then using key inputs. It took the first song to really get a hang of it but the escalation of diffculty across the three was really well done. Good music too! The theme was a bit light but thats alright. Congrats!

Hive Mind by whycardboard 2020-04-28T20:43:54Z

Awesome job with the game, I thoroughly enjoyed this! First of all great job with the art and the music, it creates for a great atmosphere overall. I also loved the title screen with it's SFX and even the animations when you lose the game, really great! Definitely a stressful experience that ramps up in difficulty super fast. I think it would be cool to make holes opening up more obvious, like some flash or animation and sound to draw your attention. It would help to also maybe color code things like wasps vs bees because when they are attacking or moving around each other it gets confusing. It also eventually devolves into just sending all bees to your queen when too many wasps get in, but I suppose thats just how it goes haha Overall it was really good! Really impressed!

Alien EMT by Zypo 2020-04-25T20:45:19Z

Love the art style of your game! The buildings were all super funky and cool, and they definitely felt alien. I'm also impressed by the scope of your game - it feels really good to zoom far out and see how much there is (and the clouds are a really nice touch.)

A couple suggestions if you were to continue developing: I would get rid of the auto-pathfinding, because I found the most effecient way to play was to just fully zoom out, and click on an alien's location and then the hospital. With the pathing system, the ambulance did it for me. Maybe it would be cool if you could leave the road, but it slows you down if you're not on it?

I also would suggest a UI/arrow element to show where the hospitals are. Once I found them it was easier, but i did have trouble finding them the first couple of times.

Over all a really fun and bright game - I hope your team is proud of your submission! Congrats on finishing!

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-25T19:31:59Z

Hi I just played your game! I really liked your take on the theme - the little buddy was super cute. The way you coded his path finding and movement really made him feel alive - by far my favorite part of your game.

A couple of things you might want to add if you continue working on it: 1) A couple more sound effects for the buddy - especially one for him eating, and maybe a couple happy noises would be cute? He is such a great part of your game, I would love to see him be developed even more.

2) The first person controls were a bit challenging. I would add a crosshair in the middle, because I kept thinking I was looking at a fruit but it wouldn't grab it. I would also add a small shadow or something to properly indicate my footing. I found myself falling off when i didn't think I would.

Overall a really wonderful entry - congrats on finishing and submitting!

Blinded by the Dawn by WiredOverload 2020-04-24T21:35:42Z

Hi I really like the concept of your game. I did find the controls a bit confusing/difficult - it's possible that I wasn't pplaying it properly, but it was fun to move them strategically as a clump to avoid the sunlight. I also love the mood/setting you have going on - I've definitely never played a game as moss before, and I really loved it! Way to go, congrats on finishing.

Peculiar Farming by Arcus 2020-04-24T19:59:21Z

I love farming games nice job! The quest system was definitely a nice touch and I think things were generally paced out rather well. The art was cute and suited things well.

Circus Daddy by PatteDeCanaard 2020-04-24T19:45:36Z

Hi I just played your game and really loved it! Dropping the baby on jump was a really fantastic mechanic. I'm also super impressed with how many assets, obstacles and levels you were able to make in the jam!

The one suggestion I would make is to make it harder - I think honestly dropping the baby a single time should kill it (maybe I'm just cruel haha).

Loved your game, I hope your team is really proud of your submission!

Keep On by irock 2020-04-24T21:46:22Z

This was really fun - definitely felt like a complete package. Felt great to play with the SFX and the trail coming off the little blob creature. I think it would be great to see a little more of that if you were to continue working on it (would love a little trail whenever the player jumps.) But it was really fun and smooth - I could only get a highscore of 28 though I think I was pretty bad haha

The Few Who Stand by sadzanenyama 2020-04-25T16:13:21Z

Awesome job! Really enjoyed playing your game! Love that there was a cutscene with VO to introduce it. I think it was really cool that you implemented AI to fight with you, and they worked perfectly too. It was a nice touch to have the weapon not be perfectly accurate, its scatter felt real too. Upgrading was fun, especially buying the Allies to help, but I feel like the curve at which you got money felt a bit off. I started out being able to buy maybe 1 or 2 upgrades (which felt good to start) but then after the next wave I had so much money I could buy whatever I wanted, so I felt like I just spammed upgrades. If there was less of a jump you'd have to be more selective with the good choices you offered. But great job! And also the music and SFX were a great touch. Congrats on a great job!

Living Light by zubspace 2020-04-28T21:11:29Z

Really great job, I actually had a lot of fun playing this (and coming second on the leaderboard on my first try was cool too: Jeeroy). I like the way you brought the players cursor to a spot to begin, and the messaging on it was fun and an interesting way to converse with the player. The art and music was really fun and well done. It was fun to zip around the level grabbing the light pellets, although I felt sometimes that they were really closely grouped and you could just grab them quick and finish without even exploring half the level (so Im not sure if they were placed randomly or not). Great job making so many levels though, it is fun to see the massive enemy. Overall Im super impressed! Loved it!

do not go gently by nsadie 2020-04-24T20:18:38Z

Loved playing your game! The mood and ambiance was fantastic - and I really like how you play out the results of the cards in the 3D environment. My favorite part by far is the eyes on your beasts, though, its awesome!

Very well done, and congrats on finishing the game jam.

Go Cockroach go! by Ulisses 2020-04-24T19:31:22Z

Nice game - I love the animations of your cockroach, they're really funny and suit the game very well! The music is also very well suited.

Bullets & Babies by David Bohan 2020-04-25T21:01:11Z

Hi I just finished playing your game! It was fun and had a really great gamefeel!

The shooting felt really good, and I like how you're able to snipe enemies from far away. The AK power up was also a lot of fun to use.

I like the mechanic of the baby dropping when you get hit - funny and fun!

A couple suggestions for improvement if you were to continue working on this after the jam: I found the auto scrolling to be a bit frustrating, especially when I have a meter ticking down that I have no control over. I would also suggest placing a few more enemies - I would say it erred on the side of a little easy. The most fun parts were definitely when there were the guys who would repeatedly shoot at me!

This was really fun, and unique - congrats on submitting!

Signal Fire On Mystery Island by linluk 2020-04-25T20:38:16Z

Hi I just played your game - I enjoyed the nice peaceful island mood you had going. The art was really fun - reminded me of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire in all the best ways! The pirate was a fun addition too.

My biggest suggestion for improvement would be to update the hit detection, it was a little frustrating trying to navigate some of the smaller/narrower areas and getting caught on trees and the shore.

The other suggestion I would have is making the sticks not fill up the fire to 100% - as it was I had no need for the wheelbarrow, but if it didn't fill it up I would have to load it up to stay lit.

I really enjoyed your game, and it was a nice take on the theme - again I can't say enough good things about your art style. Congrats on submitting!

Battery Life by Morriekken 2020-04-25T16:01:02Z

Great job! I definitely enjoyed playing your game. I love the concept of having minimal vision as you try to maneuver your way through the maze. It is really thematic and sells the idea really well. I also love the art you made for the cover up above and the gif along with it, super cool. I agree with some other points already said above, some music (even basic royalty free stuff found quickly) wouldve made a big difference. And yea unfortunately the character drift made it quite hard sometimes, you could end up hitting a wall and taking a really long time to turn around. But I totally think with some small tweaks this game would be awesome! Great job and congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Hermann the German Dough by conrad 2020-05-04T17:29:24Z

Hi I just played your game and really enjoyed it.

You did a fantastic job with the art and general vibes of the game. Love the goofy little animations, and all the humour you injected into the details all over the place.

Grabbing the ingredients felt really nice, and I love how they wobble back and forth.

I definitely struggled to keep Hermann alive (even being a sourdough baker myself lol!) but I really enjoyed the experience. Congrats on the submission!

Keep the cube alive by Dante2001 2020-04-25T16:52:08Z

Awesome job, I had a fun time playing this. I like the music accompanying the game and the explosive wave that triggers when you level up is done really well, the game feel on it is great. I wish when you click to shoot the balls that they come from the screen moving straight at the spot you clicked rather than from one fixed point and angled towards the cursor. But it was a neat little arcade game and the leaderboard is cool. As others have said you definitely get shot out of nowhere with the small green balls and then go flying, so that is unfortunate but it adds to the challenge! Awesome job overall and congrats on submitting!

Don't Die Of Donut Hunger by laorixu 2020-04-24T19:49:46Z

HI I just played your game and really liked it! Doing a jam by yourself can be really challenging, but you did really well. My favorite part by far is that I think you nailed the difficulty. Felt challenging and fast paced, but was definitely doable - it kept me playing until I was able to cycle back to the start.

The collision on the main character can be a little funky at times but glitches happen in jams so no sweat!

Great game and congrats on your first solo jam!

Anti-Matter by MikDionio 2020-04-28T21:17:34Z

Nice job! I really liked this small arcade-y game. Made me keep wanting to play for a little while to try to do better than last. As others have said it definitely was quite tough, especially right off the bat when I had no idea it was going to move that fast at all. It would be interesting if the speed increased over the course of the game, starting at a low amount to ramp up difficulty. I like the reflections of the screen off to the side though, it was cool, made it feel like there was more going on. I also really liked the game over animation with the way it covers up the screen. Good job and congrats on making a game in such a short period of time!

Battle Box by Likai 2020-04-28T21:24:00Z

Awesome job! I thought this was really clever actually. A really interesting take on a twin-stick shooter almost. The idea of moving around within a ship to activate certain guns that then auto-fire and having to move your ship into the right position to hit is quite cool. A little bit of audio wouldve gone a really long way, dont feel bad to take some royalty free stuff really quickly online! It also wouldve been cool to have the difficulty ramp up since it was just one enemy per X seconds which was pretty easy. Overall I love the idea and I think it could go quite far. Nice job!

Feed the Chinga by dreamcastgh0st 2020-04-24T19:58:35Z

This might be my favorite ludum dare entry of all time. Absolutely hilarious, and fit the theme amazingly. The art for the Chinga is just too good!

One suggestion I have is it would have been nice to have the three meters on screen at all time, so I don't have to flip back and forth quickly.

Overall though, absolutely fantastic. I think your team is going to crush it this game jam. Congrats!

Chaos by Sthealthinator 2020-04-25T16:30:22Z

First of all, great job! I actually had a lot of fun playing this game. It is a really simple concept but I think you deliver it really well. The music adds to the chaotic nature of the game but I definitely think some SFX (as others have been saying) would add a whole lot too. I like that the game escalates to add different means of difficulty, and they arent just reskins of the same threat, they act functionally different so that is good. On the area hazard that shows up as the white circle, I think it would be good to put the exclamation mark or hazard symbol in it so the player knows something bad was going to happen there. Part of me thought maybe it would be a good thing for me (but of course I shouldve known better :D ) Awesome job though!

Chaos by Sthealthinator 2020-04-25T16:56:38Z

@sthealthinator hahah I like to be thorough and give some good feedback! Plus I had a great time with your game!

The HeartBeat by pomelouncia 2020-04-25T16:41:27Z

Wow, honestly Im very impressed, this was great! It goes without saying that the art here is really really well done, so congrats there. The music is also done exceptionally, it adds to the stress and the rhythmic sounds of the heartbeat are great too. Even the visual distortion when you press the heartbeat is really cool. The idea of having to focus on difficult and confusing paragraphs and make tough decisions while beating your own heart is really unique and cool. I wish it started off a bit easier with some shorter paragraphs and easier decisions to ramp you into the idea of what youre doing and then from there really make it confusing. But otherwise awesome job!

Spoon by Cadstor 2020-04-25T19:39:48Z

I just played your game and I really enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised to have an angry ostrich chasing me, great humor! The sound effects added to the overall experience nicely.

A couple suggested improvement if you are to continue developing the game: Perhaps adding a smaller jump as a second option would help improve variability. Clicking the space bar quickly versus holding it down for example. I personally felt the difficulty to be a little on the easy side, but perhaps I am in the minority.

I thoroughly enjoyed your game, congrats on submitting!

Mission of Hope by ZenAndAnna 2020-04-24T21:40:49Z

Played through this a couple of times and was really impressed with how different the outcomes were. Reminds me of old pulpy choose-your-own adventure books I used to read. Congrats on submitting, that was a fun playthrough.

Seymour by ruiznick 2020-04-25T19:24:06Z

Hi I just played your game and i LOVE the graphics! Your game has a really nice mood and feel to it - the animations, sound effects, and retro gameboy art definitely nails the vibe.

A couple recommendations in case you are interested in continuing it after the Jam. Maybe make the waterspout move/harder to get? I found the optimal strategy during the growing phase to be standing right at the door and just going back and forth to fill the different meters.

The second would be just increasing the growth rate during the first phase, it felt a little long to me.

Anyway congrats on finishing, I really liked your game. Make sure you rate other games so you can get more exposure because this is a really nice entry :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Meditation by Evil_As_Shit 2021-05-08T22:04:18Z

Hey I loved your game! The sound and colour palette worked really well together to make it very calming, but then you had hilarious icons flying in. I honestly don't have a ton of feedback, because you did a really strong job for the package that this game is. If you had more time, adding some more juice to the effect of defending thoughts could be really fun. You did a great job, congrats on finishing and submitting!

Dive for fish! by imyellowfish 2021-05-07T22:25:03Z

Hi I just finished your game. The main mechanic is quite fun! It reminds me of a game I used to love called Feeding Frenzy. The camera zooming out as you go up is a nice touch too! One piece of feedback is that it wasn't quite clear how height impacted my diving depth vs. body size, so I ended up just usually going for shallowish fish. Also it would be cool if the light blue line of water extended as you grew as a sort of depth predictor. Anyway, I really enjoyed your game, congrats on finishing it, and thanks for making it!

Digging? by thedarkmagi 2021-04-29T22:26:07Z

Fun game - the art, especially of the guys is hilarious. It's satisfying to play once the difficulty ramps up a bit. Congrats on finishing and submitting.

The Fall of Alice by kr4ft3r 2021-04-29T22:37:04Z

Definitely loved the mood and the background to this one. Honestly showing her bum so prominently was strange - but I get that's partially what your going for!

Sublunker by Fuzzy Lobster 2021-05-04T23:34:52Z

Hi I just played your game a bunch and really enjoyed it. You nailed the mood, and the way lighting works. I personally felt the controls to be fine - though I could see how it could be confusing. One thing I did struggle with was avoiding the sea creatures. It felt like as soon as one spotted me the only way to disengage was to run, but I would just run into another enemy haha. I think it would benefit from a stun on a cooldown, to make it a bit more forgiving if you run into an enemy by accident.

When I wasn't being killed though it was super relaxing, and a wonderful package altogether. The sonar was also fantastically implemented, so well done on that!

Thanks for the game, I enjoyed it - congrats on finishing!

A Psychic's Interview by AronIngi 2021-05-04T23:40:50Z

Hi I just finished your game. First off congrats on submitting - a first LD Game can be a big undertaking, so way to go for submitting!

For some feedback: It was hard to tell when I was interacting with the door. I'm not sure if it was buggy, or if it was loading something in the background. Either way, a little symbol to show you are looking at something interactable would be very helpful. I would apply the same note to the enemy to know when you are in attack range.

That said, the writing is very funny, and the monster's animation is hilarious. I hope you keep making LD games in the future - well done!

BlaBla by Toryf 2021-04-27T21:03:11Z

The art is fantastic and the concept made me laugh! I wish I was able to read more of what the public was saying.

Potatoes Adventure by Articka 2021-04-27T21:29:15Z

This is my favorite game! So funny and the sounds effects made me giggle. At times the controls seemed to be unresponsive, but that did not detract from my experience at all. Phenomenal! Thanks for sharing.

FALL DEEP INSANITY [R16+] by MachMarten 2021-04-27T21:50:59Z

The aesthetic of the vapor wave is really well implemented. Some of the effects are more fun than others; I found hyper focus nearly impossible to play with and usually just waited that one out, but RTX on was very fun and nice that it allowed you to approach the challenges differently.

Baby's First Concussion by Roolow 2021-04-27T21:23:16Z

Loved your creativity. The jump sound effect was not my favourite after grinding out a few levels. I enjoyed playing the game, thanks for sharing!

Spermy the Whale Goes Deeper and Deeper by Flying Dog Fish 2021-05-10T22:21:09Z

Ah I kept getting so close to the bottom but couldn't get past the last clown fish! I really liked your art, I love when art is taken from physical medium and scanned/photographed into a game, it looks really nice. It would have been very cool if you could have done the background as a whiteboard-colored texture too! I found the controls a bit finnicky - which I think is the point haha. I do wish I was able to get just a little more power/speed though, as I found the best strategy ended up being going along the left wall and sliding as best I could. Really enjoyed it, congrats on finishing!

Deep way down by Martynas 2021-05-13T22:34:18Z

Wow man. I just gave you all 5's. I think this is the first time I've ever done that. This is a really brilliant experience. It doesn't need a tutorial - it has the perfect amount of juice, the audio and graphics are perfect together. I'm just blown away dude. Best jam game I've played, a big kudos to you.

New Horizons by Noctuaris12 2021-05-05T00:03:41Z

This is probably the best graphical style I've ever seen in a game jam game - you should be extremely proud of how well you implemented it!! I would say, while I liked the story, you really need to either speed up the typewriting or add a button to auto play it, because the length of the opening almost made me stop - I'm glad I didn't though because the rest was really wonderful! Congrats on submitting!

Into Debt by darqweful 2021-04-29T22:46:29Z

Wow I have to say I'm really impressed with this! It's a really nice cohesive package that was nicely put together all around! It would be fun if the customers were randomly generated and you had to pick up on queues in the chat! Well done on the game.

An Unforgiving Sea by Team Watt 2021-04-28T22:37:34Z

Hi I just finished your game! The ending was really fun! I love games with small windows like yours. The art is really nice and simple and the music is calming. I would change up the pacing of your game though - I think the dive speed should start how it is with the flippers, and I would reduce all the needed scrap. I enjoyed doing it and it was nice and calm though!

Loved that ending, very fun and juicy! Congrats to your team on finishing :)

Cookie Crisis by Uppitydonkey57 2021-04-28T22:40:05Z

Hey I couldn't get the starting "e" prompt to work unfortunately! Not sure what the problem was. Will check back another time to see if I can get it to work. Playing in chrome browser for whatever that's worth.

Cookie Crisis by Uppitydonkey57 2021-04-29T22:09:09Z

Hey I was able to play it this time! Was very interesting and cute! Love the music and art style together! One thing I would say, is maybe put another message before you submit to say "Guessing will end the game." Because I'm a total doofus and pushed the guess button thinking I was talking to them haha. I still restarted and played through it normally and enjoyed it after though!

Where's the water? by Labete 2021-05-12T22:28:26Z

Hey I just finished your game - your art style is cute, and worked particularly well for the final punchline at the bottom of the well. The story is also quite nice and cute, and I think you nailed it there. As others have said, some physics cleanup will go a long way in your future games, but that's exactly what game jams are for. Way to go, and congrats on finishing and submitting.

Deep plat-o-ball by Anshul K 2021-05-04T15:19:24Z

Hi great entry, especially for such a young game dev! Great on you for participating even with limited time. If I can offer some constructive feedback:

1: The ability to move the camera with the mouse would be very helpful! Sometimes (even in the post jam version) it was hard to tell where I was going.

2: You should consider adding a different physics material to the wall of the plates from their floor, and reduce the friction on the walls. You can kind of use the fact that the walls have friction on the balls to your advantage to cheese it a bit

Again, excellent job, I hope you continue to enter game jams and do game development, as you clearly have a great deal of skill for it!

Congrats on submitting!

Goblin Philosopher by Jibberwocky 2021-05-04T23:49:58Z

This is awesome, especially for a compo entry! Wonderful take on the theme, and you've put things together in a package really well!

A couple of things that stood out to me: 1) I felt like the dialogue time was very slow - I enjoyed watching them talk, but I couldn't finish your game when I saw how many goblins + how long each goblin took haha. 2) This is small, but in the tutorial, it wasn't obvious I could drag goblins through walls - maybe some sort of different tile for "hard wall" vs. a backwall might help with that distinction?

Overall though this is a seriously fantastic entry, with a great take on the theme, wonderful graphics, and just an overall excellent, cohesive package. Well done, and congrats on submitting!

Le Gardien by morwoen 2021-04-27T21:15:48Z

I like your idea, I agree with sabasa, a running feature would have taken it to the next level. Thanks for sharing.

Gombo's Deep Cart Dart by Brad M 2021-04-27T21:20:11Z

Hi, you're game was very fun once it started up and I enjoyed gaining lots of speed. I think the starting bit is unfortunately long, as I thought it wasn't starting properly at first. The jump is very satisfying with the momentum, but I didn't find any reason to brake.

Good job on completing the jam!

I'm gonna be the deepest! by trieckaga 2021-04-29T22:30:56Z

This is fun once I got the hang of it. It wasn't clear at first that I could leave the mine and keep my earnings to compete with others. Once I figured that out, it was a nice press-your-luck style game. I would also encourage some way to be able to discern percentages or something, it feels really bad to die in the first layer to total chance haha. Had fun though! Congrats on finishing!

Baby Drill by aburron 2021-04-27T21:09:51Z

Your graphics are top notch and the concept is funny. I wish I understood how to play. Also, a quit or leave button would be appreciated. Thanks for sharing.

WHITE RABBIT by pedsm 2021-04-27T22:01:10Z

Hi I just played your game and had a lot of fun with it. The art style is super nice, and I loved the zoomed out camera. The gameplay is fast and nice which is great - I might suggest (and I know this goes against the idea of a tough platformer like this) adding checkpoints, at least for a jam version. While I did end up finishing it, I did want to give up a few times - and I think for many jammers playing games, they will run into this.

It was an awesome game though with awesome mood, congrats on finishing.

Sunken Tower by Matthewsworld 2021-04-28T23:30:23Z

Hi I just finished playing your game. It was quite fun and I enjoyed it. In particular the items felt really good and powerful and you have great humour injected into it all which is really nice!

To give some feedback, I'm not sure if the chests contained different rewards? I.e. You don't have as many keys as chests, and without any indicator of its contents (maybe there could be a hint that one contains a heart vs. coins) there's no reason for me to not just choose the first one available all the time - which is what I did.

I'm a sucker for a game with a small game window like yours has, so I really enjoyed the compact nature of it! Congrats on finishing and submitting!

Comatoast by crow_seeds 2021-05-10T22:14:37Z

My god this was incredible. I gave you 5s across the board, you deserve it. This is seriously brilliant. I love the non-stop VO, I love the graphical style, I loved the game. More more more from this dev please.

Lets Go Caving by BlackScreenDev 2021-04-27T21:04:44Z

Easy to learn and the smile made me happy. Thanks for sharing!

Deeper and Deeper in the Woods by Mizatorian 2021-05-04T23:54:53Z

Hey I just finished your game. It's of a very nice length, especially for a jam. You have a well put together package here. If I could make a suggestion, I would say it might be fun to have different sounds for each level - so each time you have to decide which is the new "good" noise and which is the new "bad" noise. Congrats on finishing and submitting!

Deep Finger by Sephy 2021-05-12T22:18:03Z

This is really great! I had a solid time playing it. The puzzle design was very solid - especially tough to pull of during a jam. You did a great job with the theming and the cohesive package of the art/finger-growing/SFX was a wonderfully disgusting package haha. The only real feedback I have would be maybe not having blood as the needed collectible? I would imagine that being something you'd want to avoid in a nose picking game haha, but once I figured that it was what I wanted it's obviously no longer a problem. This is a really strong game, and I enjoyed playing it, congrats on submitting!

The World's Greatest Fisherman by justinj 2021-04-27T18:59:18Z

Wow I really loved this! I love the cute little display window, the bending of the line, and the brilliant ending. This is probably my favorite jam game I've played in the last few jams I've participated in. All the game feel and juice was really well done too.

To give some constructive feedback, I wasn't sure how I ended up solving the last electricity puzzle. I just messed around a few ways until I accomplished it - but I wasn't quite sure of the "why" when I did.

Loved your game - congrats on submitting to the jam successfully!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Endless Loop by pschichtel 2022-10-05T17:14:07Z

Hey, I just played your game and really enjoyed it! Love the concept and aesthetic you went with. The rocket boots were also super fun to use! To provide some feedback, I wasn't clear on using space to push the coloured buttons at first (I of course eventually figured it out.) A piece of visual feedback would be nice there to indicate it's being used. I had a great time with this, it's a well put together package. Thanks for the game and congrats on submitting!

The Point of Power by EvoGenGames 2022-10-09T21:50:23Z

I am incredibly impressed by this. To me this totally embodies the spirit and fun of game jams. Totally out there, weird, and different, but in all the best ways. It's totally innovative and makes me want to see more of the awesome stuff you come up with. Definitely following your LD and itch pages. Well done!!

Every 10/X/Ten seconds by GreatVV 2022-10-13T01:23:48Z

It's a cute game - the premise is fun - it feels a bit like WarioWare in a great way! I think my favorite was the 10 EV vehicles in 10 seconds because it flipped things around significantly and changed it up. Would love to see more of that variety in the future!

I did have it advance levels a couple of times even if I didn't win but that's ok because I got to see the whole game.

Also the physics were fun! It was good to click the object and have it push everything else out of the way.

Great job, and thanks for the game!

CHAOS CONDUCTOR by Cope 2022-10-09T22:00:56Z

You have a really fun game here! The art is awesome and definitely fits the demon train aesthetic (which overall is super well done and fun!)

I like the mechanical tradeoff with needing to refill the train vs wanting to shoot! One piece of advice I would have is making the souls a different colour as at first I thought they were bullets damaging me (since lots of the predominant colors on the demons are red/orange).

The shooting and jumping around is really smooth and the characters/demons all have a really fun design to them.

Thanks for the game and congrats on submitting!

Ezekiel by Austin Sierra 2022-10-09T21:44:44Z

Making a temple OS game for a gamejam is a pro-coder move I can only hope to aspire to. Honestly I'm incredibly impressed by this and what an insane amount of effort you put into this. And somehow on brand for both the game jam theme, and the general vibe of TempleOS. Well done!!!

Cabush's kooky Climb by rsninjadev 2022-10-09T21:56:13Z

This is definitely a rage game like Getting Over it lol! Your art and introduction are wonderful and you nailed the theme and mood of your game. The premise is definitely cool, and you pulled off the physics and timing of your character's movements well! I think the core mechanic of you game is not quite for me, but for people who like the genre of games like Getting Over it and AltF4 I think this could be a really great addition to the genre!

Well done, and congrats on submitting!

The World Ends Ten Times by SomeCodingGuy 2022-10-09T22:08:35Z

Great job on your first entry! The first time I did LD I didn't make the deadline (as many don't), so that in of itself is a huge achievement for you! I like your idea, it's fun to have the level change over time. If I could give you a couple pieces of feedback: - When you're high in the air, it would be nice to zoom out more so I can know where is safe to land. - The springs were sometimes hard to trigger

You did great though! Submitting the first time is tough, but you nailed it. I hope you participate more in the future. Well done, and thanks for the game!

The Spacetime Contraption by Craig King 2022-10-05T17:31:39Z

Wow I really liked this! I got 30 runs deep but couldn't figure out the last 2 digits of the password :( Really, nice take on the theme and just a wonderfully designed game! It took me 8 runs before I figured out how to charge the console and audibly said "Wow that was brilliant" when I finally figured it out!

The only piece of feedback I have, is that it would be nice to have the cursor change over clickable objects as that was pretty unclear to me.

Wonderful job, and congrats on submitting!

Press me...or die by Vykri 2022-10-04T21:22:28Z

So I started this thinking it would be kinda dull, but was extremely pleasantly surprised. Reminds me a lot of the Stanley Parable. The turning around for 6 seconds thing was really clever!

I tiny bit of feedback - I found the look sensitivity was really high, a slider would have been nice :)

Thanks for the game and congrats on submitting!
