Nice little game. I really liked the portals. The sounds seems a little bit to fun, but it fits very well to the graphics :)

Nice little game. I really liked the portals. The sounds seems a little bit to fun, but it fits very well to the graphics :)
I love this game! Nice Idea!
Was the art custom made or from another source?
hi @joamd
Trees, Gras and Flowers are from: https://opengameart.org/content/zelda-like-tilesets-and-sprites
Also the player, but I modified it (Idle animation).
The pirate is a modified version of the player (wooden leg, colors, sleeping)
Everything else is custom made: for example all items, the crashed plane, the HUD, the portals, the switches, the radio ...
Also the music and sound effects are custom made.
@linluk Cool! I took all the art from opengameart as well for my game, since I was no artist :p Cool game btw :ok_hand:
Hey, your game was great! I do think that adding a way to reduce the speed the fire's life decreases would be a nice addition. Well done!
Nice mood of your game and great use of the theme. Nice to see more Godot made games (and thanks for the Linux build)
Really nice mood ! That music is somewhat relaxant :stuck_out_tongue:
Hi! Nice work! I want to make a video with the best games of LDJam46. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOdTsWE7iIk . Can I find your game also on indiexpo website? The channel is linked with them.
hi @torh,
glad that you like it.
i would love it to see my game in one of your videos! the game is currently only available on itch.io and i try to keep my number of online accounts as sparse as possible. i currently have no plans on uploading it elsewhere.
but i like your videos and subscribed to your yt-channel :-)
@moi93101 thanks, really this is also the first time i (kind of) released music i made :-)
@blackquiltro linux build is obligate, the windows build was the bonus ;-) glad that you like it.
@krassenstein thanks! and a good idea,... we will see if i continue working on the game when the rating is over.
@bohrmaschine2000 thanks! glad that you like it!
Nice and peacefull game, well done ^^
thank you @hectorpather :-)
Congratulations for making this game ! Woooh that was so stressful ! The graphics were very fancy ! That's sad that the audio is minimalistic !
Nice little game. I like the concept, the interface and the sound design.
Gameplay-wise, the movement felt a bit erratic. Seems it's physics-based with a bit of "gliding" but I'm not sure there's a need for that on grass. I didn't manage to enable the wheelbarrow which was a nice idea, but I didn't need it. I don't know if you lowered the difficulty at the last minute (jam games tend to be too hard due to lack of playtest), but I never found the need to use all these branches.
Atmosphere-wise, it would have been interesting to think of a correlation between all the props. The portals and the switches feel particularly out of place and kind of suck you out of the world.
Congratulation on making all of this alone and with open-source tools (big Godot fan myself).
Keep making games!
What a cute little game, i dont really know what to say for a jam game you likely picked one of the hardist types of games to make and you pulled it off pritty well. hay its rough around the edges but for a jam game its bloody brilliant. well done to all involved.
Nice short and laid-back game. Only thing is maybe the music was a bit repetitive? Good job nonetheless!
thanks @wakobu for playing my game and the constructive feedback :-)
hi @reddashgames glad you like it and thanks for the congrats i take them alone :-D
hi @rolodophone thanks for playing and the feedback
hi @drjedd, you are right the wheelbarrow is a little bit buggy,... you can drop/pick items on one side and "activate" (attach it to the player) on the other side. anyways: thanks for the feedback! and thanks for playing.
Very nice job! The exploration was awesome! Didn't quite understand how to use the wheel barrel but otherwise the puzzles and mechanics are awesome!
thank you very much @lurkerrip
you are right the wheelbarrow is a little buggy,... but its not necessary to win the game :-)
I liked the game, it's simple and has a cool concept, and the pixel graphics are very nice! Sometimes it turns a little bit rough to control the player because some colliders are out of place, especially when you are carrying the wheelbarrow. Anyways it's an awesome game for a jam, well done!
hi @ldf-productions, glad to hear you like it :-)
That was great! I didn't get something though: the radio says to keep the fire alive until the rescue plane arrives, but I got a victory screen shortly after jumping through the yellow portal. I played it again just in case it was a coincidence with the timing, but I still got the victory screen at the same place.
Anyways, I really enjoyed your game. Nice job!
hi @ale,
thanks for playing. there is this area on the map (as you say after the yellow portal) where you win the game. it wouldn't make any sense if the radio tell you that you have to keep the fire burning until you find the yellow portal,... but after that you have solved all puzzles i have programmed, thats why you win at this point.
the text on the victory screen says, that there is a plane descending towards the island so imho that makes (at least a little bit) sense.
thanks :)
I kinda felt the end was a bit abrupt for the style, the game was building up that the rescue would happen because of the signal fire, but the abruptness kind of made it feel irreverent. I never figured out how to use the wheelbarrow but the game didn't require me to use it so... okay?
I really like that kind of game. It is well executed but too short. But I prefer a good short game than a badly long one. A really good first entry, good job !
Luved the pirate.
I would like to try your game. But I only have MacOS π . Anyway, the story is very interesting and super inside thematic. The art are beautiful too. As I am a big fan of survival and pixel art I already consider the game wonderful. Thanks for the feeedback and for exposing the game I made with Dahoo studios. I hope you also liked the music and sound effects βΊοΈ
@wolfier thanks for the feedback, you were not the only one having problems with the wheelbarrow,... it definetly need fixes and also a situation where you have to use it. and of course the game should be longer and shouldn't end so abruptly, that was mainly because of time issues.
@pndaa thanks for your kind words! glad that you like it.
@willians-rodrigues i don't have a mac around myself,... so i can't test and therefore not uploaded a mac build ... sorry. but anyways thanks for your feedback so far. maybe some youtubers or twitch streamers will play it so you could check it out this way. and of course i really liked the music and effects of ignis :-) it was a great concept for the theme and all (sounds, visuals, gameplay) fits together very well!
Genuinely excellent and really quite cute.
thanks @jajo!
I was not expecting this game to be this chill X)
I really like the nice atmosphere, you are crashed on a tropical island, and even if the fire was a timer, I did not felt the need to rush to rescue it, and honestly it is nice to be able to take your time. I tried to use the wheelbarrow, but since it's not required (and the game is not hard, thus making the wheelbarrow optionnal), I just did not use it ^^
Overall very nice entry, I liked the atmosphere, the music would be repetitive for a longer game, but fit really well into the mood and gives a holiday feeling that is cool to have in these times ^^
Cutest and most polished graphics I have seen on this Ludum Dare! Love the pixel art style and all the different things available on the island.
hi @dodormeur, thanks a lot for the good feedback! very glad that you like it!
hi @savvu, thanks for your kind words. i am happy that you like it.
@linluk Also forgot to tell it in my last comment, but you can assign q and z to be left and up keys, so that azerty keyboard can play the game without switching layout :)
(Also congrats on getting a pixel art praise from @savvu, since his game is also really gorgeous, i recommend checking it out ^^ )
@dodormeur You are awesome thank you !!
@dodormeur you can also play using with the arrow keys, thats what i did all the time. but i have to get into kb layouts for my next game, or an update of that one. thanks for the tip!
and oh yeah, you are right @savvu s pixel art is really top notch! its an honor :-) his whole game feels very polished!
@linluk The honor is all mine thank you so so much!
Cool to see a Godot game, and a linux build
It was probably too easy, but I know it would have been annoying to have a weaker fire... I didn't really need the chariot, and I did the rest of the game without coming back to the fire. You hit the theme in the spot though! The movement were too strange, the character takes time to build inertia but loses it too fast; the chariot was really problematic for how it changes the hitbox size and shape: I needed to go to an empty space to rotate at the correct position to go on the right part of that island... And seeing the space left somehow would really have been nice. Also the pirate blocking the passage wasn't really clear, I initially thought I had an issue with the tree collider. Makes me think of some old RPG Maker 2003 games on a world map with enigmas to free the way! It was nice. I don't know if the fire mechanic would be other than annoying if it was on a full sized game though. It's a nice game, I would have played it longer if more content
... blub
hi @zessirb,
thanks for your feedback. ofcourse there are some things that could (Should!) be improoved, but time, you know. the game is quite easy and short, thats true,... but hopefully thats also the reason more poeple can play the whole game :-)
@linluk Sure, that's a good thing too! I'm just stating possible improvements because that's the most helpful thing I can say, but I really liked the game :)
Super solid entry! Up there with @notch stuff. Got through the rainbow portal, but rage quit due to having to run too far back to stoke the fire all the time. Never the less, I was super impressed by this! Well done!
thank you @lars-erik, you should have played for one more portal, then youve had won the game :-D
Chill game :) I like the idea of figuring out what to do on a mystery island. Would have been cool if it was a little longer but its a jam what are ya gunna do π I liked the art a lot too! It felt very comfy. Really well done and a great entry!
thanks @curleysam, glad that you like it.
Hi I just played your game - I enjoyed the nice peaceful island mood you had going. The art was really fun - reminded me of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire in all the best ways! The pirate was a fun addition too.
My biggest suggestion for improvement would be to update the hit detection, it was a little frustrating trying to navigate some of the smaller/narrower areas and getting caught on trees and the shore.
The other suggestion I would have is making the sticks not fill up the fire to 100% - as it was I had no need for the wheelbarrow, but if it didn't fill it up I would have to load it up to stay lit.
I really enjoyed your game, and it was a nice take on the theme - again I can't say enough good things about your art style. Congrats on submitting!
Very chill and cute game! The pixel art and sound made really relax! Very nice entry!
Very nice game indeed! Good job.
hi @zoarfy, @saulo-rosart, @lerg,
thanks for your comments and improvement suggestions! i really appreciate that you played my game and i am glad that you like it.
Great concept. Really love the exploration aspect of the game, kinda reminds me of old Zelda games. However it didn't pose any sort of difficulty and the fire would go on for long without needing any refueling, I would have loved if there was some sort of combat or a threat other than the fire. Overall Great work and I like the audio too.
This game reminds me of Left for Dead 2, that time when you bring the gasoline and fill up the tank until the gate is opened or the car. But sadly every wood you throw in a fire will increase to almost max 99%. Not too challenging imo, but hey it's very insteresting concept and I think there's a hidden path I've explored (rainbow portal) but the game is already over. I hope you can make a deeper story in the future.
A nice little game, concept wise great. Gameplay pacing perhaps needs a bit polishing and the collisions are wonky at times too. Aesthetics were great, the graphics and music fit together well and the overall mod was superb thanks to that!
Neat little game, the controls are very intuitive and the puzzles are pretty fun to do. I was a little surprised by the ending because it came a bit out of nowhere, and other then that something I noticed was that the colliders where a bit big around certain objects which made moving around a bit sluggish in certain area's. But all in all neat game and well done!
hi @tony-artz, @larsspawn, @svenerik, @nabo369,
thanks for your feedback! i really appreciate that you have played my game :-)
This is a really good game, I love the graphics and the portals effects
hi @sebeee,
thank you for your feedback!
Nice take on the theme! I was expecting a Minit style game where you had to get as much done as possible before having to race back to the fire to add some more sticks, but the fire ticks down slowly enough that I added 2 sticks and then went and finished the rest of the game. It's a nice idea though!
thank you @natpat!
Game is pretty neat and fun to play. Really love art style and idea, and game can be finished and comleted. Good job!
thanks @nexonium!
nice, relaxing experience! Loved to see Godot used in a top-down RPG fashion! Had a few problems understanding how the wheelbarrow is supposed to work and found myself getting a bit stuck in the bushes, but that's far outshadowed by the cute, chill atmosphere of the game :)
@trexxak, thanks for playing and the feedback. ya the collisionboxes and how the wheelbarrow works are definitely things that have to be approved!
Very charming game, I enjoyed it a lot and got rescued. Keeping an eye on the fire percentage, but still taking risks with wanting to explore further was a great dynamic. The portal system was also cool and I loved the drunken pirate. Great job!
Nice game. I loved the art and the sound. I really liked the portal effects. I didn't quite understood the wheelbarrow. Overall a really good game!
hi @sassykeys and @nachodlv
thanks for your feedback and playing my game. i like the pirate the most too and the wheelbarrow is definetly buggy and also not necessary to win the game, but still a nice gimmick (if it would work).
i made a playthrough where you can see how the wheelbarrow can be used. starting at 1:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXHewd8485A
you can drop items on one side into it and then carry the wheelbarrow from the other side.
Nice work.
This game has very good mood and is addictive. Nice graphics, missing fx when user do interaction (like add batery to the radio). The wheelbarrow is not realy maniable beacause the collision box is too big for the map.
Good job.
hi @duck-reaction,
thank you for your feedback!
Very nicely polished. Cute. Well done.
hey @theblackfrog thanks
I expected a survival game and got an adventure. Nice! I have to admit that it was a bit too easy for my taste (both the fire burn speed and the puzzles - the clue for the five switches was a bit *too* much on the nose). And the wheelbarrow didn't seem to move at all - maybe I just don't know how to use it? Nevertheless, I can appreciate the work that went into making the levels and programming all the systems that work together there. Great job!
hi @tobiasw, thanks a lot for the feedback! the puzzle is really easy, thats true,... and the wheelbarrow is really buggy. If you are interested check out the playthrough video there you can see how the wheelbarrow (should!) work.
**thanks @lazzydev72 ! means a lot :-)**
