LD46 — Keep it alive

Subsea Demon Hearts by JonasMumm 2020-04-22T15:54:00Z

I really liked this game. Interesting mechanic that losing makes improves the visibility the next time and the fact that the gun reloads and rotates so slowly means the player is forced to be more tactical with their shots and which enemy they choose to target. For example in my case I found it was better to focus on completely killing one approaching group of enemies at a time than alternating between different groups. Great game!

Keep it alive by smirnov48 2020-04-23T08:29:03Z

Nice game. I liked the music and it's a good game concept. After a few waves it seems to become impossible to hold off all the zombies though.

Useless Machines Inc. by herniewise 2020-04-25T16:53:47Z

I really like the graphics and audio. It's a fun game. It sort of reminds me of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, with the obscure controls. Maybe making a companion manual with unnecessarily verbose instructions (like in KTANE) would make the game more fun for someone who's never played.

Vote Jack! by kfischer-okarin 2020-04-25T17:05:40Z

Nice game. Maybe it's just me but the zooming animation made me feel a bit nauseous after doing it so many times.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Pain by ProdigalSon 2020-04-22T15:42:15Z

Lovely short game. The cute graphics and sound make it happy and enjoyable. Maybe it was my fault for not reading the controls you've posted here but it would be nice for the game to tell you that you can also right click to rain water. Good job!

The Hero of the Hamlet by theyellowgreninja 2020-04-22T16:07:25Z

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I find it impossible to prevent the zombies from breaking all the houses. They're just way too fast. Also, next time write down the controls on the post. Nonetheless, I like the concept, and the music is great!

Save Our Ship by Laurari 2020-04-22T13:12:35Z

I really like the mechanic of picking up the modules to shield yourself and give you oxygen and energy. A pretty hard game, but it was all the more satisfying to complete

Operation Trepidation by Rolodophone 2020-04-21T11:53:29Z

@sami Hi, at the moment I only know how to make Android apps, but you can install BlueStacks and easily play my game from there. I'm glad you found my game appealing

Operation Trepidation by Rolodophone 2020-04-26T11:28:32Z

@prodigalson Hi, yeah, I made this using Android Studio so producing a PC/Mac/HTML version is not as easy as ticking a box. I make mobile games because I think they fit my style of game better, and I think there's a larger audience for smaller, less complex games. However, I realise that maybe Ludum Dare is more focused on games for a desktop computer, so for the next one I will see if I can port it to HTML or something. The downside is that the games won't be designed for a keyboard and mouse.

 I wish I could make iOS games without a Mac.

@samboyer276 @federico-giorgi @adonisdevs @laurari Thanks for the feedback! I will take all your advice into account for the future.

Don't fall behind by Dinorex 2020-04-22T15:08:08Z

Nice and tense, I like it!

Protect the Sand-Worm! by Jofish 2020-04-25T16:30:51Z

This game is fun and it could be even more fun if it had mouse controls (but I understand why you didn't add it). Although I guess actually it also could be argued that the keyboard controls add another layer of skill to the game (apart from the strength control).

Elnelis by Rodi 2020-04-21T09:59:00Z

I can't jump high enough to get onto the first platform. Am I doing something wrong?

Signal Fire On Mystery Island by linluk 2020-04-22T15:23:50Z

Nice short and laid-back game. Only thing is maybe the music was a bit repetitive? Good job nonetheless!

Now That's A Cool Sun by Raxe612 2020-04-21T13:07:33Z

Nice little short game. I enjoyed it a lot

Genki by GOD COLO 2020-04-25T16:09:36Z

I like the music and it's a fun, enjoyable game. It's hard to think of any improvements that you could have done in only 7 hours . Maybe the sprite for the enemies could be more interesting? That's literally all I can think of.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Brickwalled by exilegl 2021-05-08T13:20:04Z

The game was very satisfying. Music, sound effects and graphics were really good. Maybe the only thing was the gameplay was a little simple. There is no threat to the player. One way to improve would be maybe some things you grab actually build the wall instead of breaking it. Or they could hurt the people.

Space?Space!SPACE by Meta-link 2021-05-07T19:41:59Z

Cool graphics. Would benefit from some music and sound effects though

Little Submarine by Steven Paw 2021-05-08T13:10:06Z

One of my favourite games I've played so far! Really nice, relaxing atmosphere. Good choice of music. Difficulty was just right. The only problem I had was that after I got really far, I seemed to run out of moves and then I couldn't move any further. I might be missing something here, but maybe the 1000 undo limit accidentally limited moves to 1000 as well?

Tiefenmesser by axelrinaldo 2021-05-03T19:56:07Z

Cool game! I think the different things you were able to do, such as change the speed and depth of the submarine, add depth to the game and make it more fun. It makes sense that a submarine could change the depth level. In other words, the actual gameplay and the context of a submarine are integrated nicely.

I felt that the gameplay was pretty balanced as well. Turning speed and speed of the submarine itself made it not too easy or not too hard to take down the subs. This made the game rewarding to play!

The music was good as well, and it felt somehow like submarine music; kind of ominous.

Maybe to improve, I would say that it needs some sense of progress. Some examples of how you could do this could be making different levels with an increasing number of submarines. Or adding powerups/upgrades/health pickup items.

Object LD48 by cpv 2021-05-07T19:33:22Z

Cool art style, I liked how the aliens looked. I'm not sure why the foreground tiles were darker than the background tiles. It's counter-intuitive as you expect the parts that you can walk through to be close in colour to the black background.

The game could be improved with music and sound effects; they really add to the mood

Dig Dog Dig by Rolodophone 2021-05-01T13:35:52Z

Hi @phi, thanks for your feedback. The obstacles and stuff are always in the same place, so the idea is that you learn the correct path through trial and error. It's a memory game, essentially.

Dig Dog Dig by Rolodophone 2021-05-03T20:15:05Z

@room606 Thanks for the feedback, I agree.

Dig Dog Dig by Rolodophone 2021-05-08T12:46:11Z

Thanks, @cpv!

Yeah, before the jam started I tried making a standalone game using JPackage and Badass Runtime, but I couldn't get it to work, annoyingly.

Bubble Diving by Lymze 2021-05-05T21:34:09Z

Very nice game! I liked the music and sound effects. The music fitted with the style of the game. The graphics were cute and well-drawn as well. And the gameplay was certainly balanced, not too hard or too easy. Also, the background was well-done, with bubbles and creatures far away.

To improve, one thing I would say is to try to have the pixels in each texture roughly the same size. The background bubbles and the text was much lower resolution than everything else. But that's just a tiny nitpick . Overall a very good game!

Titan Spear by Zackavelli 2021-05-07T20:01:45Z

Nice, interesting game. The music was good and so were the sound effects and graphics. It also had just the right difficulty level IMO. My technique was to pretty much always look at the chants at the bottom, and use my peripheral vision to avoid rocks and get the diamond things.

To improve, maybe some indication that the order of the chants are the same each time you play. Also, a victory sound effect would be cool!

Super Digger by Shimonster 2021-05-07T19:14:36Z

Nice game!

I had an annoying bug where if the window loses focus, the game stops responding to clicks, even when I focus the game window again.

One easy improvement you could make is to add music. It really adds to the feel of a game. Try Kevin MacLeod (he's got loads of different types of music so he's my usual go-to)

Deep Space Escape by leapyearboy 2021-05-03T18:32:40Z

Hi, I think this is a really nice concept for a game. I second the feedback already given above.

Music is fairly easy to add and has a huge impact on making the game more fun. Try [Kevin MacLeod](https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/music.html), he's my usual go-to because he has so much music for lots of different feels and genres.

Get On My Level by LoreTV 2021-05-03T20:10:44Z

It's a very good idea, to have the player get smaller and smaller, and face different challenges at each level. When I started playing, my first thought was that the graphics are really good. There's attention to detail and I especially like the sky and everything in the first level.

To improve the game I would say the main thing is to make the challenges more interesting. For example, instead of just shooting bacteria as fast as possible, have the player also collect water and sugar at the same time to stay alive.

LoweFix by Octopussy 2021-05-03T19:08:41Z

Thank you, I really enjoyed playing this! I love the tense atmosphere. Also, there was skill and stealth involved, which made it all the more satisfying to complete!

Also, I like the exaggerated gore that juxtaposes the fact that you're just a cleaner. That adds a level of humour to the game.

Here are a few small things to improve (that you've probably already realised yourselves):

- The bodies sometimes get stuck in passageways; it feels a bit glitchy when you try to push them out of the way - As previously mentioned, the disc gun was easily the best of the 3

Pizza delivery by Soraksis 2021-05-05T19:35:25Z

Hi, I like the concept and the graphics were good. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past any robots. They would just block my way and whenever I move to the side to get past them, they move back in front of me.

Music is fairly easy to add and has a huge impact on making the game more fun. Try Kevin MacLeod, heโ€™s my usual go-to because he has so much music for lots of different feels and genres.

Space Cave by Timo Gass 2021-05-03T19:29:50Z

Cool game! The combat required skill and I felt myself learning how to be better at the game over time, which is good. The smooth movement made it a challenge to navigate the ship and aim, which adds another aspect to the game. I also like the fact that you die after just 2 hits: it raises the tension.

Some improvements that could be made would be adding different types of enemy that behave differently. This would really make the game more interesting. Also, you could add different types of weapon. These would both make the game feel less samey.
