I loved this concept. It is just like a protect the president kind of deal but it was really really fun! Awesome game my friend :D
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → Vote Jack!

Cool game!
Really good choice of audio and I loved the pixel art. It took me a while to realize that I had to wait to see their actions as I was just shooting all the black silhouettes haha
fun game, the zoom in/out mechanic with the scope overlay was a nice touch
Interesting concept, shooting innocent people should give you a malus though! Didn't realize I was not supposed to shoot every shadow :D Really like the zooming effect.
The zoom effect looked great! I found it kind of hard to distinguish between civilians and snipers but I think I just didn't know what I was looking for. Also after killing what I think was an innocent it displayed some code and mentioned the fps had dropped below 30 or something? But besides that the mood was great, it felt very tense and the music helped a lot!
I liked it, it fits the theme very well! I also didn't realize you had to wait for the snipers to pull their weapons out before dispatching them for a while. Well done!
This was a super cool game. One of my faves for this event for sure. I really liked how the suspense was driven by the music and suspenseful use of pauses. Excellent!
@raphy Oh actually it should give you a game over message if you shoot even one innocent person. In the later stages there's more than one assassin so maybe you hit one of them out of luck. There should be a kind of "Which stage is this" and "How many assassins left" display in the game.... but there was no time
Awesome game, good choice of music, gives a very tense mood as intended. Aiming was kinda laggy, especially when zoomed in (nice zoom animations!). Some levels felt waay longer than others, would prefer more snipers spawning and a faster pace.
Really enjoyed it, although I think for me it was a little slow, was starting to get bored by the time many assassins started appearing.
Of all the protect the king/president games in this LD, this is definitely my favorite. I found it a little difficult to aim when zoomed in on the shooter though. And I think one game I was zoomed out, but couldn't tell where the shooter was before he killed Jack. I loved the music. It was very suspenseful and totally made the game more immersive. Excellent overall job. Writing this review with music playing still in background -- love it.
Nice concept, nice choice of music, game is simple but fun, very well done.
Love the intuitiveness and art style! For me I think their was a bug because whenever I shot someone the game froze it would not let me do any thing? Over all great concept, and good job! Keep it up!
@guille Thanks for playing. Did you play by any chance with Chrome? For me those mysterious freezes also happen sometimes.... And I'm not yet quite sure why.... Do you try to shoot someone immediately in the beginning of the game?
Yes I did play on chrome. No I did not try too shoot some one in the beginning. I might try it again on something else. Thanks @kfischer-okarin!
@guille Thanks for the feedback... I need to do some local debugging but since the game engine is still in active development it might also be something out of my control....
Okay thanks @kfischer-okarin.
nice, very intuitive, control when zoomed in seems too sensitive for my taste, or maybe that's intentional for the challenge?
At the moment this is a really good once-off experience in my opinion. With work maybe it could be more than that and be replayable. The music was a great touch, as it definitely made me start stressing a bit that something was going to happen and that I had messed up; that said, I think having audio cues like that might end up hurting it if the game is not a once-off experience.
The zooming felt a tiny bit off, but it's a really great idea. Maybe completely capturing the mouse and making it scroll quite a bit slower while zoomed in. Like other players I also unsure if I was doing the right thing; in ignoring all the silhouettes until I finally found a sniper and shot him. That said, the game also froze when I shot him, so I didn't realise there were multiple levels even.
Playing on Chrome WebGL, the music has some strange glitches in it? The whole time it sounds like it's raining or something, completely drowns out the music :(
I really liked the use of pixel art to be able to make all the far off people look the same, I think this game wouldn't have worked in a higher resolution because you'd be able to see who is who from a distance. Creative use of the art style!
I enjoyed that! I enjoyed the slight tension when you zoomed in on a person and not being about to see the rest of the building. I later found it was easier just to stay zoomed out and you could tell when the people were pulling a gun out, which removed some of the fun. The music adds a good amount of tension, and a good take on the theme!
Nice game. Maybe it's just me but the zooming animation made me feel a bit nauseous after doing it so many times.
I really liked the graphical style you chose, and the sound design was great; The music set a tense mood that kept me on edge the entire time!
I really liked how you had to keep checking in on the silhouettes in each window to see if they'd changed, once you got to the later levels, because it gave you more of a purpose than just waiting around - Along those lines, the only real critique I have is how long some of the early levels went on without anything to do. The first few levels were pretty slow, and didn't require the player to do much, which pulled me out of the tense mood that you'd set.
Overall though, this is a really neat game! Good job! :)
Managed to save Jack. It's pretty intuitive and the zooming effect is nice. Perhaps it would be beneficial to add some sort of story and some different silhouettes for assassins.
Nice little engine, I'm sure you can improve this a lot after LD!
Very nice submission, the zoom mechanic works extremely well.
@thelemba Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it... Yes I intended the zoomed in controls to be a little bit shaky and hard to handle
@ramperkash Thanks for your feedback! The zoom controls probably need to be adjusted a bit... but it was intentional to have them shaky and hard to manage to have also a bit of a motoric kind of challenge... The freezing bug unfortunately happens on Chrome at the moment as mentioned by someone before.. Have to look into that...
@natpat Thanks for playing! At the moment I'm really just using a really zoomed out big pixelart picture.. which sometimes causes random grey pixels which (unintentionally) give a away the rifle sometimes even in a zoomed out state. In a more polished version I would add special sprites and animations for the zoomed out version.... so it's harder to distinguish
@koolruz Thanks for playing and your feedback.... Yes at the moment the only thing I change between the stages is the number of people appearing at the same time and the total number of snipers.... The probability of a particular person being a sniper is always the same.... which causes the first level to be a drag if you're unlucky.... definitely a pacing point to be improved!
A fun and very cool little game. Well done.
Nice take on the sniper game genre. The zoom mechanics work quite well. To keep people engaged longer you might want to add some more things going on in and around the house.
Reminds me of that one level in Rescue: The Embassy Mission (also known as Hostages). The mood in this game is fantastic! I liked how it wasn't just a "be quick to shoot all people appearing on windows" but you really had to take your time to carefully look who is soon about to shoot. Loved the graphics too. Also the way the controls move faster and harder to control when zoomed in was great. It kinda made it feel I'm holding a heavy weapon and having hard time to keep the aim, felt great!
Haha, fun little game! I would like some kind of explanation on how to play tho!
Fun little casual game. I like key controls and how you manage zoom. Clever ++
Whoa- very intense little game! I played HTML and it worked very well. I love the controls. It reminded me of the sniper sequences in Golgo 13 for NES and La Croix Pan by Joshua Nuernberger. I love how the music rises- I only wish it kept going- maybe a Shepard's Tone would work better? Creating the illusion of constant rising? Less dynamic across the track tho- Very well done- thank you for the game!
I didn't know what to expect going into this, but Atari 2600 hundred sniper wasn't it. I low key loved this lil thing! Music really sold the tense mood too, very well done!
Audio seems to pop a lil bit on the browser, and it'd have been nice to be able to restart once done.
