very elegant puzzle design, probably the game I spent the longest in this gamejam (level 21 is though!)

very elegant puzzle design, probably the game I spent the longest in this gamejam (level 21 is though!)
Soooo juicy! the art and gameplay is very awesome, just the theme feels underexplored... i still very much enjoyed it
Art and idea are awesome (elevator Action-like) I struggled with the controls, particularly to interact with the stairs.
Hey very nice! the art, mechanics and puzzle design are quite good! I was mad at myself because I found some mechanics that look like exploits (grabbing jellies while in mid-air, or suiciding to get a star), and had to control myself to not use them. I think if removed would make the game more challenging.
We might have a bug with the fade in/out :/
@beardmage glad you liked it! the next level should have loaded automatically... that sounds like an unhappy bug :(, you were just about to reach the end
@m4cgregor thanks! the multiplayer sandbox was the first thing we had in mind (we were going for a tony hawk game by the end of the first day), but the game ended up narrative... life, huh?
The graphics are nice!
<3!
The game is beautifully minimalistic! The controls are a bit painful, but I guess it would work great in mobile
The mechanics are very clever, giving some long-term puzzles. I think it would be great to be able to undo as many movements as possible, several times i felt i made a mistake but did not want to relaunch the game.
I like the music and the main mechanic! made me laugh several times. The physics are buggy (shooting is not very predictable and several times I fell through the floor or got stuct on an enemy) I would play it again and again if the physics/controls were fixed :D
Very thematic! I have to admit I got disappointed I could not multitrack drift :(
Hey, I like the idea, but I do not know how to advance once I select a decision. If you could explain me that I will replay it :)
@huf0001 Oh i did not see the "finished" button, my bad
Beautiful and cryptic!
I like the artwork and music, but sadly have no controller at hand (so I could only move). I think you can add a patch to support mouse+keyboard
@Beardmage Thanks! tested it, quite a challenge!
simply excelent
hey, good work! As everybody said, the art style is great! and the game is fitting to the theme.
Hey, good work! The idea is very fitting to the theme, and the art is appealing!
My only comment is regarding the controls (maybe because i am using keyboard), it isnt very clear what is the object you are interacting with.
excelent job
Hey, solid submission! the trade-off of life and weapons works very well, and the art, sound and text has a nice retro feel to it. If you decide to push the game further, it felt a bit punishing not having any mechanic to recover health, and the third level was extremely hard (no turret placements) Anyway, good work!
hey, thank you everybody for the kind feedback! We had some time today, so we took the liberty of fixing the problems you mentioned.
@mister-ornicar, we reduced the fireball build-up animation length to make it more responsive
@flywolfe there was an issue with the jump that made it affected by framerate, we fixed that
@lurkinmcclerkin the fireballs not breaking cages was an idea from an early design that stict in, we removed that now (plus making the purple water region overall more forgiving)
@finnhax there was indeed a problem with the hitbox (not the player's one, but the large enemies instead), it should be better now.
I am not sure we have the right to submit an updated version, worst case we will push it online after the reviewing process is over. EDIT: it seems that fixes are acceptable according to the rules, so i pushed the changes.
super good submission, i was not expecting to enjoy it that much!
ok, this is amazing, the ambient is so well achieved. A friend sent me the link and I was pleased with the quality until i saw it was also a submission to the jam, and said out loud "are you kidding me??" because i could not believe you achieved such a polished style in 3 days. Awesome work!
Hey, it was hell to control the game, but i havent laughed (at myself) so much in a while! 5/5 would recommend saying "wah wah wahhhh!!" in panic to reload to everyone! (The art is also beautiful)
hey, nice work! the art and concept are very good, and it works nicely with the sound.
That said, i think the gameplay is a bit confusing, particularly with keyboard controls (sometimes you interact with things by attacking them, sometimes using E). You have a good base here, i think it deserves an iteration!
good work!
Woah, amazing submissinon! The production quality is outstanding, voice acting, art, illumination, everything! I have to admit that I found the controls a bit frustrating sometimes (small platforms, fast movement and short jump), but I kept playing to reach the end of the story... that said i am not a platformer person and i tend to struggle anyway. Congratz, among the most polished submissions i played so far!
hey, as everybody is saying the art is completely amazing! The controls are very confusing, i guess you designed for a controller. You could just use right-click for camera, or otherwise use a 2 handed keyboard design (not great given keyboards multikey limitation) Anyway, it is very promising! good work
very nice work!
excelent! an original take on the theme, good art and sound... a bit fast for a clicker in my opinion, but that just increases the challenge i guess.
good work!
super nice game, the characters and level design are silly in a good way, and buying your way into completing the decoration feels great.
good work!
hey, the game looks awesome! I recommend you to upload compiled versions (ideally webgl, you can host it easily at itch.io) to allow more people to play it. Poke me if you do, i want to test it!
Very nice work, the art and ambient work excelently, and the small narrative/control details were great!
again, excelent work!
Hello!
Nice idea, and congratz on your first jam!!
Regarding packaging, it is recommended build the project in order to submit it. Itch allows you to add compiled versions (the best option is WebGL, it takes a while to compile but it is multiplatform). You can still do this even after the deadline. This is only the code (git included data) which makes it heavier. The code is easier to submit as the git(hub?*) project URL.
very nice game! it took me a while to catch it, and i wanted to use other pieces than the default ones for wheels.
I played it until the end, so that means it is engaging! well done!
Quite good! the take on the theme and the progression are very nice. If at some point you do an iteration, having clearer expectations of the spawning would be great.
(remember that in order for people to see your game, you must play and rate other games (the system is based on karma))
Very neat submission, clean and good sound design. good work!
small comment: I found a bug that after losing my job i got a new job notification every month.
good idea, solid implementation. It is an interesting challenge to not die while also preparing the right words.
Thank you for the kind comments!
@$162477 we just pushed a patch about that performance issue, we were hunting that problem for a while, it should be a stable framerate now (you can toggle framerate display with the 'p' key).
The boss is not particularly smart, we struggled to balance it, because it was too OP, so we kept it dumb for the jam submission.
Really nice art and concept! I struggled with the responsibity of the jump.
I simply loved it! simple, incremental, minimallistic... it just works!
I would love to play a longer narrative version under this concept.
it is a nice idea, and the animations are very smooth. My only comment echoes others': the animation cancel makes it very hard to play, being bare-fist fighting the easiest.
but you have something rich here, you should push it further!
extremely polished, the art, sound and gameplay are super solid, and the overall feel is perfect. Little to question, awesome job!
Utterly solid submission, from the theme to the art and the sound. The simplicity makes it very elegant! The progression is a bit grindy, but as it is the main core mechanic to discover the recipes, I won't complain.
hey, nice concept and art! The gameplay is a bit confusing (i guess because the controls are non-standard and the inteactions hard to predict). That said, good work and keep it on!
the atmosphere, sound and art are outstanding! bravo, the best one so far.
very well done! Sound and graphics are awesome. The gameplay is a little repetitive, and I am not a huge fan of mouse camera and motion blur, but overall I enjoyed the feel of the game! Good job!
You have a very rich original idea here! Killing the enemies and stacking them is a very creative way of navigating the environment!
If you decide to push it forward, i would recommend you allow to pick and move the enemies (like Mario does with Shells)
Good work!
Incredible submission! From the start, it is clear you have a very polished game. The tutorial is perfect, plus the story is simple yet engaging. ... and the mechanics, oh boy! it is incredibly well balanced and complex for such simple inputs. The art is a plus, but nevertherless is also excellent. Congratulations, you might have a winner here!
Excellent submission! The game is funny, fun to play, the visuals are beautiful and the procedural arms are very well done.
@adinimys @systematic Hey, glad you liked it! Controls: The W/S key invert is clearly a bug (sorry!), because we programmed it for AZERTY/ Arrow keys and added the QWERTY support at midnight... I pushed a quickfix. The speeds are intentional (to force you to drive around).
Thanks everyone!
@delunado @miki-keyo It is true that the gameplay is a bit shallow, we spent too much time building the engine and the map... But we will work some more on it, for sure!
@kristian-kurktchiev @lintfordpickle controls are not great. Probably testing tank controls in the next few days (thanks!).
Very nice submission, the zoom mechanic works extremely well.
Very nice submission! it's always a good thing to use a jam to learn a new technology, i want to try DOTS too.
Ok that was more emotionally intense than i expected!
Congratulations on your first game! Beyond the fact that it works without any issues (bravo), Very good use of the theme, and the controls feel very smooth. Single interaction with double effects is also clever. Good work!
Solid game and a proper challenge! good work!
Took me a few runs to have get it, but it is a great game! The art is awesome, and the gameplay is very engaging! you have a lot of potential here! Small comments: camera controls can be a bit annoying, and I would have loved to have the sources of materials also marked in the map. Very good job!
The ambience (sound / visuals) is awesome! The combat felt a bit limited, but otherwise incredible job!
This game has many things to like! it is absurd, the legs limiting inventory aspect, the mechanic is solid (even if a bit hard to keep the damn fire up). Clever! Good work!
Love, love, love this submission! From the intro, to the super minimallistic gameplay and amazing graphics... congratulations, this is just an epic entry!
Very nice mood! very sneaky feeling.
Nice work! The combat and controls are very fluent, and I like the art too! Some more feedback in what is happening to that old man would ease the decision making.
This is a superb submission! the art is incredible, there are some very rich mechanics in the game, and the visual polish is outstanding! The difficulty felt a bit flat, until i died for the first time and then i did not manage to reach the specimen again. Super good job!
The perfect game 5/5
Suprising, Beautiful, emotional, engaging, frustrating.
I wanted more, but at the same time i am happy it is over.
Great solid submission. Art and controls are very crisp.
Great job!
That was a beautiful game, and a hard one. I ragequit when my first baby died. And those geese, as pretty as they are evil!
Ok, good take on the theme. Why is it almost 400mb?
Extremelly polished, amazing work as always! The aesthetics are top notch and the controls and progression feels nice (even when i died at lvl3 :( ). Thanks for including the arrows, a.k.a. left-handed controls. I would use more of the malus creating enemies, and use that as part of the level progression. Again, excellent work!
@ctpeepee glad you like it, you can backspace to cancel the run
This has a lot of potential! I love the art style, continue the good work!
Very nice submission! the visual polish is great, and the puzzles are interesting. I honestly brute force my way through it, except for the last level that required me to think. A small issue: the lines are not visible in window mode, you should consider having a thicker trace, or at least recommending full screen. Good job!
[DONT READ THIS, JUST PLAY IT]
this is incredible, i did not read the description and went right in attracted by the graphics, and even I must say you perfectly captured the caretaker's work feel. It gave me chills! not in the classical horror way, but in a clear lost of conciousness way. It works perfectly as a conceptual piece, and you should be very proud of having such a solid narrative project in 3 days. That said, you should consider extending this, as it simply WORKS. Bravo!
Very cool ! Everything works well together: the art looks crisp, the characters are megacute and the gameloops works very well! the perfect amount of challenge. bravo !
