No my chickens! ^^
I *reallly* like the introduction of the game
I like the graphics.
Relly nice graphics ands sound. Probably the most polished game I've tried so far.
All but one chicken ran over by a car on my first go. Truely traumatic experience
I love the entire style of this game. Good job!
Thank you guys, means a lot. Happy you enjoy it :)
Nice idea, I like how one of the chicks is so distracting that the risk of losing the rest increases (happened to me on my first run, gutted).
Great game, realy like the art style
I wasn't prepared.
This is a true piece of art.
Human impact on the environment makes the lives of chicken families even more difficult. great mood, pixel graphics, sound and music. 10/10
The perfect game 5/5
Suprising, Beautiful, emotional, engaging, frustrating.
I wanted more, but at the same time i am happy it is over.
The art is gorgeous! What an amazing style! i liked the gameplay a lot. The hardest for me were the cars... I didnt see the shadows going by in the first time (and second, and third...) , but after that, I was feeling like a worried chicken mom, but a good one. Awesome game!
The intro is really well done. Difficulty curve is a bit steep as timings seem to need to be exact, but the art is amazing and the sound effects are very funny. Lots of character in the little chicks.
Very polished game. Great sounds and graphics.
Well done !
Hard man. This was very hard to watch...
Great game btw!
Yeah, the chicken struggle is real man. :) Glad you all like it, thank you for the kind words.
Looks very nice, but lacks of variety in obstacles, all of them just stay still and kills chiken, but either way great job!
Thank god you made checkpoints! Very difficult, but I managed to get him to the end :)
It was really fun to play! The art style is beautiful. I loved the intro and hox you introduced the game. Great entry!
Thank you :) glad you enjoyed it.
Animaster > yeah we did what we could in the time we had (I was working simultaneaously on 2 other freelance jobs), but we'll be making a proper long version of the game and we'll have plenty of different obstacles then (yes, even moving ones), I promise :) As a matter of fact I'll be starting working on the longer version as soon as tomorrow :)... Excitiiing!!!
Very nice art. That little son of a b*tch was quite disobedient :)
Really enjoyable game, you got the atmosphere just right! And good thing you added checkpoints, it struck just the right balance with having enough difficulty forcing you to carefully consider your actions, but without being infuriating. Really liked the aesthetics and the cover image is so good! Very well done! Sound effects were great too! :D Sound spatiality did feel a bit weird at times.
Eh. I am a terrible hen, it seems :(
Many times I tried to get the last chicken over the road, but the car incoming was very unpredictable, so you could never feel like you have any impact on this.
After some trials I've got over to meet yet another track where my little stupid chicken would get immediately slaughtered...
I think it's an interesting idea and the graphics/video/atmosphere are really good, but found it hard to pass though.
Maybe, some tutorial would help?
Nonethless, good job!
That's so sad and fun at the same time xD Graphics are really on point, and mood is powerful.
It was a bit too hard for my taste to direct the birds, and a bit hard as well to predict when the cars would cross the road. Maybe so preventing sign like the lights of the car would have helped!
Anyway great job guys!
Like the art style and the mood. Good job!
Don't know if I'm stupid (probably that) or did run into a bug in the html5-version. All I can do is walk up and down the path and nothing happens. I can reach the road and chickens are moving to it but the hen gets stuck. Feels like the enemy/obstacle-spawner isn't running.
@smiley you have to make sure one of the chicks are not left behind, if not the path is blocked !
@smiley I thought the same because I was trying to use wasd instead of the arrow keys. Try the arrow keys?
I thought it was a cute game about herding your chicks the right way and keeping the exploring one with the rest, and then you go and kill them off D: How could you! And then just when I thought the road was done and I could relax, it drowns in the smallest puddle ever! D: How could you! My heart! And the stark remindder of my past mistakes and all my other chicks that I failed to save, emblasoned forever on my breast...
But yeah, I really liked the game. - The graphics are really nice, in a weird cute but kinda postapocalyptic way that works really well, - the audio just reinforces the overall feeling of the game (some games have audio, animation or theme that are jarringly different from the graphics (like Limbo, or Happy Tree Friends), and sometimes it works really well, but yours does the opposite, where audio and graphics work hand in hand, and it works really well) - the gameplay itself was also original and interesting and fun (even if it broke my heart several times :( ) - and I really liked the autosave feature :D
Nice game! I really liked the art and the idea. I started using the wasd keys but I couldn't go to the left, then I realized I should be using the arrow keys. The sounds got a little bit repetitive but overall it was a fun game. Good Job!
love the setting the style - and everything feeling so sad - some questions: * is it on purpose that every chicken except one dies at the first street? * the mother cant be killed by cars? - or I didn't get that far :D - superhard game^^ - well done
Thank you so much everyone :) thank you for the kind words. We just started a Devlog on the making of the game and also the making of the real game/longer/better version of it on which we'e working as we speak.
You can come visit the devlog here any time to see what we're up to:
https://gregoire-d.itch.io/the-path/devlog/141002/the-path-the-devlog-by-the-boredom-ministry
Nachodl > The sounds, yeah we'll fix that by using a lot more of them so it will not repeat as often, same for the music which will be extended and refined.
Nolafa > Ahaha yes, it's a heart breaker... and it's going to get WAY worse with the longer version we're working on.
Ekilibr > The car thing, which I love cau's it's just brutal will be clarified... It'll still be brutal, but easier to understand at least :)
Sorko > thanks, yeah he sound spatiality...I had a hard time with it at the begining but it's growing on me... it might get to have a purpose later, we'll see...
I really enjoyed my time spent with the game, though i didn't finish it. Honestly I could barely get the chick half way across the road without them dying haha
But, I did take the time to explore the map without the little chick, and honestly the game has a really nice mood and atmosphere. The graphics really add to it as well. It's just a shame I couldn't get the hang of the chick's controls, I'd love to experience everything properly!
Really great job regardless though!
I cant move onto road, also a key doesn't move character left, whereas left arrow does it. rest of wsad keys does work. Unfortunatelly i don't see any way for me to play the game properly
Ok, nvm one small chickens were stuck behind. It would be nice to get some info like "you must gather your party before venturing forth" :D
Having a hard time rating Humor. :| it's super hard to play, but well done :)
Great graphics and atmosphere!
Wow! This game is really amazing. I like the graphics and the mood! Well done.
Very polished game. The graphics are among the best I've seen this LD. Very well done.
I was at first unable to pass the first road (after I lose all but one) for many tries. I was at the verge of giving up. But I'm glad I was finally able to go thru and reach the end.
Keep up the good work.
This is so fun. I loved every second. The controls are solid and herding the little chicks is just wonderful. I really enjoyed the voice sound effects, reminds me of hidden folks. Very clever idea!
I'm really shocked when my chick become to tomato sauce T^T Keep it Alife!!! PS. your car sound is amazing LOL
It was a challenge to wrangle that one rogue little chick! Great art style and overall awesome job!
Love what you have done here, against all opposition! Simple, but so effective. The concept and execution reminds me a bit of Oddworld or Badland. Fantastic pixel gore! Wonderful job and thanks for the game!
chick.jpg
Guys! Where is THIS coming from! Wow. I am really impressed. I love the way you play with darkness and the colors. And the pixel style is amazing. Great job!
ahah thank you all, means a lot :) Really happy you had a good time and that you liked our little game. We're currently working hard on the better/longer/more polished version of it (more than 10 times bigger with new ennemies, mechanics and traps) Come and check our develog. We update it every 2 days or so. Thank you again for the feedback :)
I really love this game. Graphics, Audio, Mood its awesome. The controlls are a bit hard in the begin, but it gets better. Keep up the good work! :)
Wow, awesome graphics. The art style in combination with the fantastic music creates an intense mood. I also found it very innovative to have to kind of indirect control the small chicken. Maybe the difficulty is a bit high.
Amazing submission. Incredibly polished and amazing audio/visuals.
Short, simple, atmospheric experience! I especially liked the sound effects who, to great effect, contrast the gloomyness of the artstyle with silly cartooniness!
This is one of the most atmospheric games I've seen so far, well done! The art is great and the sound and the music nicely fit the mood. Overall, I wish the game was longer (and I'm wondering what happened to the poor hen that it lives in such a dangerous place).
Absolutely fantastic. I see this game as kind of a frogger but with a real focus on animal struggle for survival in a world conquered by humans. The very first part of the game, when the other chicks are killed by the rubber wheels of a fast and loud shadow that makes the floor tremble... that's devastating. I think it really makes the player get into a chicken's point of view.
Moreover, you chose the right control scheme for the game: the chick obeys your orders but his moves are a bit unpredictable at the same time, which gives me a feeling of constant tension. Graphics and sound are just perfect to create that crude atmosphere.
Can't wait to play the extended version. You did an amazing work guys, congratulations!
P.S. We've also made a game about human impact on animal life, but with a very different approach. We'd be happy to hear your thoughts.
Not bad at all, I really enjoyed it and it was soooo difficult but this die and retry was really nice to venture on! :) Pretty melancholic but yet funny at some times. Well done!
Graphics are cool! W and A did't work (only arrows). Anyway the game looks great!
The most beautiful pixel art I saw in this LD. I really fell in love with art. The sounds were very good too and I loved the car sound. I dare say it is a very difficult game. This chick is very stubborn. If it were my son, I would slap.
Congratulations for the game!
This was...a scaring experience...which is a big compliment! The mood, art and music is outstanding and left me with watery eyes because i was so overwhelemd of its entirety. The simplicity and iminence of the controlls really brings you close to BEEING the Hen. Amazing job in storytelling. Now excuse me i have to contemplate my life and why i am able to feel so much for a pixel chicken and its kids....
Thank you so much :) We really appreciate it. Reaaaallly happy you got sad ahahahah. No seriously, happy the mood got through. Glad you enjoyed it. We're working on the long version now. You can check the Devlog here:

PIOU.PNG My baby chick lives on!
Art is just amazing, am stunned. At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to protect the chick, so I went on by myself just to admire the scenery. The sounds are fantastic, probably my second favorite thing in the game, after the pixel art. "Piou!"
That was surprisingly distressing. Poor chicken...that first bit with the car really took me by surprise. Initially it was a bit difficult to gauge when the car was coming so some more sound/visual cues might have been nice there, but then once I realised it wasn't randomised it was easy enough to overcome. Full marks for mood, and the mechanics were great, so simple but so intuitive. You guys did an amazing job.
This is a really well-put-together game. The cars at the beginning were frustrating, as there's barely enough time to race across before the next one comes, but the rest of the game was a lot fairer and managed to hit that sweet spot of being tricky but not frustrating. The mechanics were really intuitive, and it was easy to get the hang of guiding the chick where you wanted it to go. I really appreciated the use of checkpoints so that I didn't have to go through the whole thing from scratch when the chick did die, though.
The cartoony, *a capella* sound effects kinda detract from the general dark tone, especially as the surroundings grow gloomier over time. The result is this odd contrast where you have cartoony birds walking through forest fires and pools of battery acid while chirping merrily. I guess it adds to the innocence of the chick that you're trying to save... poor thing just doesn't comprehend the dangers around it...
A beautiful and haunting experience. I may have to check out the full-length version, though I do have to wonder how long the gameplay can last without getting stale.
What an amaging artstyle, Very impressed in that regard! the music is also a perfect fit for this. Gameplay-wise, a very intuitive game to understand, but difficult to master, with a powerful and moody setting. Amazing job guys! :D
Thank you, happy you enjoyed it. F1Krazy > Yeah, hopefully now that we have time to come up with better traps, puzzles and ennemies we'll make it more diverse and interesting.
Wow, great job. Loved the art, super polished pixels for such a short time. Really loved the unique human made sound effects haha.
I wasn't fast enough to get past the tyre tracks to get to the other parts, but great job on the graphics and unique mechanic. It already sounds like you guys are working on this post-jam, so looking forward to seeing more levels.
The sounds is soooooooooooo funny, a great game here. Bravo !
Damn this game is brutal :D both theme and gameplay, well polished tho and sticking to the theme nicely, pixel graphics also fit well. Good job!
