ITERATION SUCCEEDED.
The sprites and lighting effects are really good. The lighting combined with the CRT filter give the game a good looking unique style. The music was varied well and did not become repetitive, good track too. Also varied was the new enemies that kept popping up. Thought I was going to get lost the way the path splits multiple times, but was able to use good ol' video game logic of "There are enemies this way, must be the right way."
Wow, thats a really good jam game. Hard to fault. Audio is good, music is good, art style fits prefectly and the gameplay works well. Love that you basically need to use the thing your trying to protect to defend you. If theres one thing I'd like, and I'm being super picky here, it would be more weapon variety. Top job, well done.
@nillard @selftitled Thanks for the comments! We were planning on adding in more weapons and a clearer direction for the map, but we were working straight to the last minute on just getting a base game finished! If things turn out well maybe we'll make a post-jam version with more weapons and maps!
This was just fantastic - especially the song, omg. Does the composer have a soundcloud, lol? But everything was super solid in this. The quality & quantity of art, the theme, the combat, and the overall visual style was amazing and it all comes together really well. Awesome job.
I really liked the art and shooting the enemies was fun, but I couldn't beat the game, although I got to the end, because the pod couldn't fit through the rocks. I even saw the end portal(?) but I had to detach from the pod, and I lost. But over all, it was a fun game.
the effects are top-notch - the laser, the damage noise that pops across the screen, the music and sound and how it provides direction for the next threat. i really think you guys hit it out of the park with the mood here! plus, i think the amount of health you receive for enemies is very well balanced: you can still get careless and end up having to respawn, but careful management of your specimen's shield and some dodging can help you get back that lost health in no time. nice work!
Hey guys, (Art/Music dev) Thanks for all your detailed reviews! There was so much we wanted to add to the final version but i'm glad you guys like what we have so far. Here's the link to my soundcloud @ghast-neoh https://soundcloud.com/dvotr Just as a personal note: i haven't posted any new music in a while and i honestly think the quality is terrible compared to what i'm currently working on lol.
Art style and audio are super cool. Looks very polished. Also it is very hardcore. Enjoyed playing it
This is a great jam game!
I think the music is the most high-octane action music I've heard yet this jam. It ramped up the excitement and intensity.
The art looks fantastic!
There are good crisp sounds for all the core game elements.
If there were a couple things to improve, I think it would be this: - Would be nice to be able to play in fullscreen - Add 1 or 2 more weapons, so that they core gameplay loop evolves a little more more - Having a slightly larger field of view would help with combat. It's tough shooting at enemies that are above or below me when I'm strafing.

Really nice game! Art and sfx were great. One small issue with DPI scaling, the game started in a really small window, and windows 200% dpi scaling didn't affect it. Normally programs that aren't DPI-aware will be naively scaled by the os, so I guess gamemaker is saying telling the os it's dpi-aware but not actually scaling? Anyway, it's a small issue. Well done!

Very cool, don't really know if you were aiming to this but I fell a very DOOM-like vibe. The only fault is that you can put the game on fullscreen which makes gameplay a little hard for me (I am not old )
@silas-reinagel @wheybags @rodel77 Thank you very much for the feedback! I have decided to upload a version of the game with fullscreen to the page, it was our original intention to have fullscreen and it was a simple checkbox flip in gamemaker to allow this :) please feel free, everyone, to rate the game as if it lacked a full-screen mode however!
Nice game! Graphics were very nice, and the music worked well. It definitely got a lot easier when I realized you could shoot enemy bullets :)

Such a nice looking artwork! Well done andt he music with all the sound effects where tooop! Did you made them by yourself?
Amazing experience! Great art, sound, gameplay, and concept! My favorite game that I've played so far. My only suggestion would be to make it clearer where the player is supposed to take the specimen, as I was unsure during my play through. But very nice game! Would like to see it expanded.
This could be easily seen as a prototype for a good complete game! I enjoyed playing very much. It has such a good atmosphere, and my favorite part was the oscillating shield around the specimen.
Awesome little action game! :) I enjoyed playing, thank you for sharing! Not much in the way of feedback, although I found I got a little lost at times :)
Fun game. The graphics and mood work great. The cooperation between the player and the alien is interesting. The aliens force field is a bit overpowered, and that along with the abundance of healing makes the game a bit too easy. At points, the aliens slow bulky nature makes it feel a bit too much like an escort mission.
I really like the tether idea, and how it creates this symbiotic relationship between you and the specimen. It wasn't clear that the game had an end though? I played for a long time and had no idea how close I got to the end, or if I was even making progress. I think it'd be nice if the checkpoints told you how far you were just so you could tell that you were making some kind of progress.
The music was really cool too!

This is a superb submission! the art is incredible, there are some very rich mechanics in the game, and the visual polish is outstanding! The difficulty felt a bit flat, until i died for the first time and then i did not manage to reach the specimen again. Super good job!
What an AAAWESOME entry!!! Loved the artstyle, both audio and visuals where great, and all the little details that made this feel soo much more inmersive, like the way the recoil makes the player go backwards just a tiny bit. Congratulations!!!
THIS IS A JAM GAME!? I am extremely impressed with how polished this is. I love the art and the music. They work so well together. They create a very solid environment, and keeps up a feeling of suspense and tension. I especially like the concept of having to care for another creature, while at the same time using it as a shield. Which is something I find funny. The only problem I found, was the complete lack of progress tracking. I couldn't tell if I was going anywhere, even though I followed the road. But that's the only problem I noticed. Incredible job!
wow good game
