LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep IT alive - The daily struggle by Skosnowich 2020-04-21T12:49:04Z

341 seconds, many points, not enough coffee :) Sounds like my day haha. Well done. I actually quite like the idea and implementation. There might be some notion of making it to day end and the next day being harder but that's just another layer on top for later, not sure if there is currently an end game, seems like it could go on forever! If you continue working on it, some variety of task descriptions and solutions could be cool too, I saw a few problems and a few solutions, maybe there is more I didn't see :)

O Jardim by Tarcisiotm 2020-04-21T23:18:55Z

@tarcisiotm I like it! Exactly what I thought it would be when I saw the icon :) Very simple, elegantly designed, I was worried there might not be an "END" and then there was! Looks like a cherry blossom tree from Synty Samurai :)

Take Care Of Health Care by mlho7 2020-04-24T11:31:07Z

@mlho7 Cute game! Very original honestly, don't think I've seen anything like it. Cheh! I didn't quite understand the timing or if I was supposed to hit the dude, the buzzer, a specific part of the dude at first until I got a hit so maybe that could be clarified given the tight timing :) Also was trying to watch his great speeches so missed some opportunities lol.

Fuel Onward! by Drury 2020-04-23T19:02:05Z

Great work! @drury saw this in ElysiaGriffin's twitch feed and had to try. Good work all around guys, no specific recommendations good LD entry! :) I love the end!

Knyttskogen by Jordgubben 2020-04-25T13:57:46Z

@sotsnut @jordgubben Very interesting interactive experience :) Took your advice and let it run while I worked on some course material (fortunately I do enjoy the sound of fire crackling, nicely done there!). Had some people pass and some stay, but mostly I just let it go and interacted with the fire now and then :) Nice little experience, thank you :)

Mission Control by thedeadlybutter 2020-04-24T20:22:56Z

Decent little game, took me a sec to figure it out but in time to get past the first stage :) Good job :)

A Wild Yeast Appears! by mortus 2020-04-21T14:08:47Z

lol apparently my motor skills aren't up to par, what even happened here!?: brewingwhaaaat.png

Honestly it's cool it reminds me of a lot of VR games where you have to dextrously handle things (at which I also usually fail miserably! I was not cut out to be a surgeon). While I didn't get to really make a drink I did manage to lose many things flinging them around the room :)

Good work, would be cool to see it in VR and with more features :)

Keep Your Town Alive! by CodeChomper 2020-04-21T21:27:42Z

@codechomper Cute game, not too clear on the proper methodology to milk cows or load the truck though I figured it out by trial and error! - Would be nice additions: brief explanation or how to, indicator for what's on the truck rather than the negative notation to required items.

Great work :)

Nest Guard VR by Louspirit 2020-04-23T14:40:58Z

Hi there NestGuard team! I'm not able to test this, but as it shows first on my Smart list I really wanted to pop in and say props for doing a VR game! We need more good VR content out there :) I can already tell this sticks to the theme well, and will be fairly innovative, hopefully you get enough people with the required hardware rating it!

Abidance by Kriss 2020-04-21T16:39:47Z

Well done entry for this game jam! :) Right mix of mood, atmosphere and length here! Future ideas for simple expansion: add extraction point to get to with an aggressive holding off of shadow monster and local fauna (didn't find a use for the laser? Can you shoot the shadow thing?).

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-15T14:42:19Z

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-21T12:12:29Z

Hey folks, thank you for the comments! Some responses to questions or thoughts :)

Missing voting for Audio and Graphics: We removed the graphics and sound categories as we used assets from others for most of those elements. The graphics were largely Synty's Polygon Dungeon set (which definitely is quite awesome!) and the sound I'll add some references to in the description. Our graphical work was mostly on the boy and dragon and the animations, particle effects and lighting.

Missing instruction for Sprinting: Noted, can fix :)

Comments on torch swing about cost/effectiveness, noted: can tweak :)

Comment on the tutorial sound: Sorry! I think we can fix that easily too, when the torch starts it used to start at full volume and the listener was too close to the player. Likely the model in our main menu still has that starting volume.

Character Control: We had some choices on the table and opted for this type of controller, it really works when you get used to it, but maybe we can do a better job of explaining the basics somewhere.

Thanks again for playing and voting! :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-21T13:06:31Z

Oh, and we think the exit is pretty cool (reachable in about 5 minutes or less), so try to get there :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-22T21:21:41Z

@phuong-vo lol thanks Phuong, yeah it is!

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-22T23:39:33Z

@theqiwiboy @nickw22 @guipuyol @milano23 @raeya @p-dude @landosystems @wubbaduck @bmacintosh : Thank you for your feedback, we found and squashed a significant issue with enemy AI that was causing it to be not very responsive to torch swings! Essentially they attacked even when in a feared state. With that corrected and the visual feedback now working properly, it should be a lot more enjoyable in that regard if you want to give it a go :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-22T23:58:41Z

@finnthepirate Thank you Finn! Appreciate the comment, and totally agree. Given it's linear nature this is definitely a game that could be grown by further level design, variety and a few more mechanics to add depth :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-23T02:39:51Z

@theqiwiboy omigosh he used to be there too! I probably blitzed that in today's fixes thank you for noting it and playing the game! :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-23T03:20:35Z

@theqiwiboy thanks again! after an emergency patch Bobb is back, your brother need not fear, no dragons were harmed in the exit from the dungeon :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-23T13:40:58Z

@mirck782 thank you for playing and for the feedback! We toyed with different controller options but for the isometric view we went with we found this one the most suitable. That said, it seems like this sentiment is common so we would definitely want to look at this for any future development!

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-23T20:16:54Z

@eldar thank you for playing and for the feedback! I can only imagine with a trackpad (I haven't tried it yet). Definitely noted on the controls. The first Monolith on the bridge is not bad, it's about a 5 minute game to the end, and you definitely get better with the controls as you play :) Thanks again for playing! :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-24T01:04:51Z

@prothean Thank you for playing our game and for the feedback! The controls definitely take a while to get used to and I also find I sprint most of the time. We wanted to balance that with the energy so it wasn't too easy to evade, but I understand the frustration in getting swarmed.

Thank you for the kind words too! @badounnm who did most of our level design worked hard to fit all the assets together nicely :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-24T15:55:25Z

@coolguy6316 Thank you! @Runuchok Thank you for the comments, the controls are a bit different yes :) @sandra-jasionowska I'll have to check that out! Yes, we find too that without sprint it's a bit slow, might tweak that a bit! Thank you for the comments! :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-24T16:49:39Z

@tom-stephenson Thank you for playing and the feedback, especially the description of the moment :) I hear you on the controls, we are definitely aware of that feedback as it's completely different from what most of us are used to using :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-25T13:16:20Z

@bitpokit Thank you for playing and the kind words! We definitely chose some great assets and @badounnm did an awesome job with the level layout :) Credit to the creators as well mentioned in the game info :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-25T13:17:19Z

@coolestdoggie Thank you for playing and the appreciative feedback! :) I hope you managed to get the controls sorted since it's quite satisfying when you do! :) It's basically that the cursor is the characters facing, W forward (and shift sprint).

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-25T18:22:51Z

@ancientpears Thank you for playing and the feedback! Yes, we definitely went with a non-traditional control scheme although you do get used to it! :) They don't die it's true, they just flee, it's really about resource management, movement and flow :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-26T11:33:37Z

@oakwarrior Thank you for playing and the feedback! Your username is familiar from one of the twitch channels I"ve watched in the past few days :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-26T19:52:25Z

@midnightmist thanks for playing and the feedback! :)

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-28T13:39:25Z

@amkingtrp Thank you for playing and the feedback! Yes, it seems like that's a consistent trend and we definitely acknowledge that challenge. It was interesting tinkering with a new movement scheme but I understand how it might be too confusing or foreign for people to get into the game :( Thank you again!

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-05-10T17:40:37Z

@elysiagriffin Thank you for playing it and for your feedback, it was fun watching you play ;) You might see me lurking on your stream between now and then too as I haven't seen enough Animal Crossing yet lol!

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-05-12T04:48:30Z

@honest-dan Thank you Dan! It was fun to watch you play it on your stream! :)

Defenseless by Cocosar07 2020-04-21T21:22:20Z

Hi @cocosar07 ! Feedback probably similar to others here:

- I enjoyed the game overall! Pretty cute, I like the angry looking bees/wasps/flying baddies! - Sound would add a bit more depth. You could get away with: fire crackle, guy yelping, flash sound, buzzing, ice. - Score would be a nice addition for some overall goal or persistence but more of a nice to have! - Great work! :)

Keep The Party Alive by tuesi 2020-04-23T13:39:14Z

Great idea, great little game, little to say other than it would be cool if there was some indicator of what's wrong because running to the different areas to find the issue is not as fun ;) Maybe the queues could be different sounds (pretty obvious when the music stops for example). Maybe I missed a proper queue to distinguish the two cleaning scenes :) Either way, I loved it overall! Only ever got my party to 450 :)

Exterminators by Zachary Shah 2020-04-28T13:57:19Z

Hi @zachary-shah ! Fun, interesting and as far as I can tell, quite unique game :) The instruction manual looks slick at the beginning and I read it but still wasn't quite sure on the mechanics I guess (didn't really get that I had to stand on the pads to charge them but I think that was my bad :) For the game itself, it looks good, plays well, but maybe some additional feedback to the player for a pad charged or indicators of what is going on would be good. The final level seems nearly impossible lol (at least for me!). EDIT: Should add that I tried only one character, I assume all are different and kudos for that too!

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-22T16:30:56Z

Beautiful artwork, well organized thoughts and a lot of love went into this project :) Great submission, good fun, good clicker (even though these aren't usually my jam!). The upgrades were well planned and thought out though I didn't catch why my temple stopped doing damage over time (probably that big rock I added! :)).

FirePlace by Zacharia 2020-04-21T19:19:28Z

Hi @zacharia , the game built fine for me in Unity. I did import it to 2019.2.21f , maybe that made a difference? Built for Windows worked fine. Played it in the editor a bit, and the only issue I see is some wood has no color (should that go nowhere?). Seems pretty straightforward otherwise, though it's a large project!

Keep Charlie Alive by Coolguy6316 2020-04-24T11:18:51Z

Hey @coolguy6316 , I quite liked your little platformer, and love the assets (Kenny Assets!). These are the same ones I'm using in a little game called Sam Jones Treasure Hunter :) I think the only feedback I have is that the water by default is difficult (maybe I have old man eyes) to see haha but managed to finish it pretty fast after two water deaths :) Great entry! @bigbadollie , SamJones!

Keep Charlie Alive by Coolguy6316 2020-04-24T15:56:42Z

@coolguy6316 Oh don't get me wrong, using existing assets is a perfectly valid and good option to save time. Also, I'm not artist so I generally go in knowing I will be finding art, music and sound assets to use (unless I'm teamed up with an artist!)

You Live Like This? by LurkinMcClerkin 2020-04-21T15:17:16Z

Haha great voice over work, a bit dark but funny! Didn't realize I had to reboot on a blue screen but then thought "duh" lol :) Good job guys!

Kitty is King by Rixium 2020-04-21T23:40:20Z

It's a cute game! The graphics are interesting and the theme is awesome (I love my cat haha). I'm not really sure what the bed/bath/cushion is for lol, but then again I kept getting my cat stolen :( Great job!

Lantern Lagoon by Quade Zaban 2020-04-23T02:38:25Z

@quade-zaban and team, great work, cute game and good run on the fire/keep it alive theme :) Got to a point with three hanging things that I presume require some skills to all light that I don't quite have lol, but good variety in puzzles (design) cute graphics, solid sound, great little game :)

Civilitris by dasilvacontin 2020-04-21T19:30:43Z

Pretty good! Interesting but not too sure how the wood and sheep meters work, I had both but wood seemed empty a lot of the time lol, not sure if matching them reduces it or what not :) Also fire streaks can be rough (4 fire tiles in a row!? hehe).

Civilitris by dasilvacontin 2020-04-21T20:57:49Z

"@picusbgames “Pretty good! Interesting but not too sure how the wood and sheep meters work, I had both but wood seemed empty a lot of the time lol, not sure if matching them reduces it or what not :) Also fire streaks can be rough (4 fire tiles in a row!? hehe).”

They do not fill up by landing tiles and completing rows/columns. They fill up when the villagers physically grab on stuff (sheep and trees) and bring those back to a hut. Sorry that it’s not as obvious! :)

Yeah, whenever it’s 4 tiles it gets a bit hard, better hope you made some space by that point 😆.

Thank you!! :)"

@dasilvacontin that's awesome, probably obvious I probably just missed it lol!

The Hero of the Hamlet by theyellowgreninja 2020-04-22T16:19:03Z

Hi there! It's a cute little game but it's extremely fast! I'm not sure if I'm just terrible though :) Simple concept, decently executed, just needs the pace slowed down a bit at the very least :)

Sunlit by palsina 2020-04-26T20:06:44Z

Just an amazing experience overall, it might get a bit stale but the challenge ramps up so that doesn't matter too much, really really good in all categories, truly great job :)

Save Me! by BankSho 2020-04-23T02:27:17Z

@banksho Hi there, interesting wave based shooter :) Personally I found it pretty hard lol... Reload times felt long to the point where I just couldn't prevent zombies from reaching the damsel. Agree with @honey-pony about the shop pause, I think that would help the pacing a bit and noticed the same bug on restart :)

Last Light by PORTABLEWAFFLE 2020-04-23T14:50:53Z

Hi there! I love the original art and that you shared some design thoughts! :) I'm not 100% sure i get the mechanics though. My flower grew, I planted 3 little ones, but what happens next? Is there a fail mechanic?

FLOWER by ShivArt 2020-05-05T23:56:45Z

@shivart cute game for sure :) As you say, there isn't much to it as a game but as a short story it's pretty sweet :)

Cat Shelter Simulator by Fat cat 2020-04-22T17:07:07Z

@fat-cat I love the approach and the theme, and more importantly my girflriend adores it though she did ask @ifidamas 's question about dogs :) It actually seems fairly well balanced to be honest, though having enough content in a Sim game can be tough in this tight a time frame!

The Last Raccoon by IceBox246 2020-04-22T12:37:23Z

Really solid little game! I don't think I have any suggestions, definitely didn't encounter any bugs, and clearly if you did want to expand on the experience you already have the right path laid out for you :) Great work all around!

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-21T02:49:30Z

Beautifully drawn, interesting take on the theme. A choose your own adventure with board game type elements :)

Pet Sitter! by Sockyman 2020-04-21T15:12:14Z

Hi there! Super cute style and I love the theme (Tamagotchi styles!), definitely something we considered :) I understand how it should work I think but the happiness tanks fast and I don't quite get playing (Granted I suck at playing with our cat!). I tried both one and two balls, hitting him and not hitting him as well as a room of balls. ballmadness.png

Faire L'Amour aux Plantes by Jenny Bourke 2020-04-25T18:21:30Z

Interesting choices and game :) I don't know who Neil is but I will google that lol :)

Keep IT Alive by anhel 2020-04-21T12:28:15Z

I love this haha. As someone who used to repeatedly say "Hello, Georgie, would you like a balloon?" for months after watching the movie, this is priceless lol :) The nitty gritty: Everything is quite well done! I like the music, it's super appropriate, the sound fx are a little basic but it's ok it's retro look fits imo. The twist on the theme is ridiculously good (I'd give you 6 there if I could lol). Gameplay is pretty self explanatory and doesn't need a lot more intro but for some reason I wasn't aware my paths were switching off the first time through, figured it out later.

Anyway, great job with this, and best of luck :)

Zima by Stefan0198 2020-04-22T00:33:31Z

The idea is awesome, the setup is great too, great work for a short period of time :) There might be a slightly better indication of what wood/temperature ratio might be needed to not freeze in the morning as that's probably the worst way to wake up! (IRL and in game!), you could have some sort of book with notes in it to keep in the theme :)

Zima by Stefan0198 2020-04-22T04:55:01Z

@stefan0198 thank you! I love the intro video but probably missed that or misinterpreted it! You have awesome posters on the wall you could probably incorporate that somehow in a way that fits in the theme (just sharing thoughts!) :)

Someone called for an ambulance? by Bauke Regnerus 2020-04-23T20:54:30Z

Very cute little game! :) Saw it on stream and decided I had to try it! Good music choices, fits the theme, great interface, good controls (sure it's hard on keyboard but you say it up front lol). Could easily be an app store game, really great job in the tight constraints of LD!

Power Defense Game by SciDev 2020-04-21T19:53:39Z

haha nice victory message :) Sorta fun idler, I like it well done :)

Hard Beat by FinnThePirate 2020-04-21T15:21:45Z

A decent little platformer with a whiff of Corona :) It lacks a bit of depth to be completely honest! Something persistent like a score would be a nice little addition so there is something to work towards :)

Hard Beat by FinnThePirate 2020-04-21T18:21:06Z

@finnthepirate , thanks for the follow up! And I know the feeling. This is the reality of very short time budgets! :) Just saw that you did this solo, great job man :)

Goblin Slayer by Blacked 2020-04-22T12:51:08Z

Pretty solid little game, great first entry, no need to apologize :)

Capybaba by matthewi 2020-04-21T02:40:41Z

Works with the theme, a tiny bit janky but it was a neat idea for sure! Throwing babies to beat shadow babies hah :)

The Last Flower by Unimaginable_Code_Studios 2020-04-26T18:14:24Z

@unimaginable-code-studios great job :) I got stuck in an infinite death loop at the start of level 3 (damn flying octopuses!), a pause menu to exit to main menu would be a great addition later (no worries though, not many games had that!). Really interesting 2d action game honestly... I love the sword chucking with zero gravity :) In the time frame and with the limitations, you did a fantastic job overall. Next stage would be work on some player feedback for damage/death and maybe some running animation for the hero. The platforms behave a bit strange too, maybe by design though :)

Project Kepler by LucaVazz 2020-04-21T12:21:09Z

Honestly I love the look, simple, elegant and detailed like you would expect a clean ship to look :) There should probably be a bit more explanation since there is a degree of complexity here. I'm not 100% sure but this felt like a sim/builder type game where I had resources, research, balanced services that consume resources (I assume) and things to build. I saw the direct impact of thrusters was what I expected but beyond that I wasn't too sure what would do what :) Great looking game though and likely the math working behind the scenes is well tuned too, just wish I knew more about how to approach it!

Biorunner by purenickery 2020-04-25T17:01:56Z

Awesome little action game! :) I enjoyed playing, thank you for sharing! Not much in the way of feedback, although I found I got a little lost at times :)

Live, breathe, beneath by t3ch 2020-04-21T14:55:05Z

Hey, I don't want to rate the content since there isn't anything playable, however don't feel bad at all! One of the biggest and easiest traps to fall in is overextending the scope of your game and missing your targets. AAA studios fail on that every day, not to mention countless indie devs :) If it's your passion, keep trying, you got this next time!

Dungeon Farmer by TheQiwiBoy 2020-04-23T03:25:24Z

Well done @theqiwiboy for your first entry! :) WebGL can be tricky (I had some issues with mine earlier!). Some great ideas already shared by others for improvement, maybe later on you can allow the sword to move the full range and have the farmer randomly move around and plant things too :) Neat idea!

Power Glove by Prothean 2020-04-21T15:36:02Z

I had to try this when I saw the assets used! Love Synty's stuff, and you can see more of it on our game (we used the Dungeon Pack, this would be the Town Pack).

Great little concept, pretty unique, good interactions, love the idea of quests to get batteries. Missing a few colliders and a pause menu and I didn't see an overall score or anything? (length of time you gave your bro to play?). Honestly though, pretty darn good imo :)

Dino Volleyball by PoignantBanana 2020-04-23T17:38:59Z

Pretty simple and fun little game! I'm pretty terrible, but got to 6 rallies lol :) Well done :)

Wife Is Life by AncientPears 2020-04-25T17:09:41Z

Couldn't quite win the game, but interesting and unique for sure :) Yep some in game instructions like people said might be good as you start (even how to start the game!).

Yakka by MidnightMist 2020-04-26T18:01:14Z

Hi @midnightmist , same issue as @cliff-lee-cl not being able to progress... oh didn't find the plank though lol! Nice little game, and big props to your sister indeed, that's some beautiful hand drawn scenery and characters. Just some thoughts: Animation on the main character could have done with a little more motion on movement I find (not a big deal) and the tongue kinda moves strangely (not attached to the parent's y position it seems? Restart froze the game for me both times I did use it (though I played a few times anyway!), maybe not setting time.timescale back (I had that bug too on pause menu restart!).

Yakka by MidnightMist 2020-04-26T19:49:02Z

@midnightmist so I read the guide to the event wondering the same thing (my first LD and first Jam) and it seems you can bug fix but not add features or content so you should be fine for fixing the timescale thing if that's what it is :) Thanks for the tip haha I was sure I was missing something :)

For The Band by Asemic 2020-04-23T21:12:35Z

Interesting, but not sure I quite get it, I recruited like 5 ppl in a row and in the next scene they said they're all leaving and it seems to freeze? O_o Might be missing something key hehe :)

Party - Sea Battle - Keep your battle fleet alive... in music by rlods 2020-04-21T14:01:37Z

Interesting concept, will come back to it in a bit when maybe there are lobbies or players! :) The music is sort of fitting! I like the twist on the classic Battleship of being able to move ships but it seems like it might be Battleship other than that?

Block Pusher by Pixipit 2020-04-21T02:37:18Z

Pretty fun little game :) Very simple, but maybe something persistent would make it a bit more enjoyable :) Good job!

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-04-24T16:24:55Z

Cool game, great atmosphere, as others said, definitely has Limbo vibes :) Good use of tools too! Well done! I particularly liked that I thought I was safe having cleverly given myself a big lead and then... nope :) haha :)

Garden of Error by Soulcube 2020-04-21T02:47:05Z

Interesting, didn't quite get it in the first 5 minutes though and a bit hard to read the font (maybe it's my old eyes or the 4k:) )

Green Space by stanlkm 2020-04-22T16:57:47Z

Hi @stanlkm ! Great first entry! It gives me a bit of a Star Control Vibe :) Maybe to build on @kaijiro 's observations, Earth probably shouldn't produce Greens if you want a game with a bit more urgency (it also fits your intro and concept). Earth should probably be stripping Greens and maybe that even accelerates over time and can be countered with tech investments. I think the above alone would probably make it feel more like a game! Couple of other questions: Is there anything beyond transferring greens or what would you plan if you had more development time? Currently, is there a reason to have HP? (I didn't see anything that would damage me)

In general, I quite liked it and like i said maybe it's the planets and top down but I get a star control vibe hehe (Nostalgia!).

Green Space by stanlkm 2020-04-22T20:05:29Z

@stanlkm Awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed it. TBH my first jam too and loved building and now the playing and discussion is neat too :) I definitely understand not sure how I missed the planets shooting or maybe I just got lucky haha :) Ohhh, star control 2 is a classic! Humble's bundle just ended that had all of them :( (at the top tier mind you).

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Loopy Planet by bigbadollie 2020-10-05T13:47:59Z

Great Compo Entry man!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Someware by someoneman 2022-10-05T02:55:03Z

haha definitely fit the theme :) Some pretty straight forward mini games. I'm glad I gave it a second go to see there were more than 4 too hehe :)

Motor Dime by Ale 2022-10-05T00:46:32Z

I was so very terrible at this but it's a great game... I already have trouble with driving games, throw in another thing to watch and ... over 1 minute laps lol :)

Sonar by erikiene 2022-10-04T20:35:44Z

A lot of fun, as others have mentioned a smoother transition on end (failure or success) would be great (as of now it just exits!) :). Can't rate maybe because a team mate did or maybe it missed the deadline? Not sure.

Tiledom by Austin 2022-10-04T02:06:45Z

Not bad :) Is the path to victory just fast placement? The way the taxes goes up seems fast and linear?

Maze Runner by HagamosVideojuegos 2022-10-05T15:39:07Z

I liked it, I was sort of trying to figure out what was happening the first time and somehow managed to glitch and fall through the world near a door hehe. But second playthrough I managed to get to the end... I like the cause of the issue lol :) There might be an issue pausing before hitting start with the mouse cursor disappearing I managed to work around it but it is probably a cursor focus or hide call where it's not expected (pausing before starting). Good fun, and a solid entry! :)

Coffee Rush by Trusty 2022-10-04T02:29:51Z

Great job on the custom assets :) A nice, cute little barista game, not sure I expected to see one here but it's very nice, relaxing and sweet :)

Medieval Politics by sillyman987 2022-10-04T20:08:37Z

Unfortunately I kept getting the NaN issue but played enough to get the gist :) Cute game, lots of fast clicking haha.

Singularity Protocol by CookieRA 2022-10-05T16:59:22Z

Wow, this is a really great game! :) Kudos for getting this done. Graphics, sound, gameplay everything comes together really nice for fast and furious experiences. Nicely done!

Ruins by frax 2022-10-05T15:24:39Z

Liked the style and the mechanics seem super cool but I can't get past the very first segment lol :) Tried a few methods but probably missing something! :)

The Internship by MrBamboo 2022-10-09T21:43:12Z

Très drôle comme jeu, je l'ai beaucoup aimé! Et comme l'a dit @mrbamboo, semblable à la nôtre! I think now I've seen the only person who drinks more coffee than I do lol :)

Super Auto Crusaders by Savolae 2022-10-05T00:36:01Z

Loved this one! :) I had a lot of fun playing it though I could never quite get 5 done haha :)

Fall Girl by civmaniac 2022-10-05T00:24:34Z

Fun little game, and cute graphics! I really hope the fatality rate of window washers is not that bad! Oh and I love the game name... simple yet adds to the cuteness somehow :)

Bearly Fishing by SakuH 2022-10-05T01:00:52Z

Super original and a lot of fun lol :) I'm not a very good grappling fish riding bear evidently but everything comes together quite well in this game :)

Purple Legion by Astoeth 2022-10-04T00:35:16Z

I like it quite a bit! :) Great take on the theme, easy to understand and play but difficult for an old guy like me to master haha :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-04T00:57:40Z

@ale thank you for the feedback! :) I understand, one of our dev's kids had that feedback so we increased the fail limit to 10 (from 5 originally!). It's definitely easier the more you play as you learn where things are. There is also a map in the lobby :)

@migi I hear you! I am not the best at it either... I rarely play my own games well lol :) But yes, trash fires for the win for sure :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-04T03:19:02Z

@anniv4x Indeed, something we knew going in was that it would be tough to find a lot of the "things" so the failure threshold was increased. It definitely takes a few plays to get a feeling, in particular for things needing items (like packages, cofee, mop, extinguisher :)). One thing we pondered was a directional indicator but felt it might break immersion too much :)

@jess-from-online Thank you! The 3d Assets are the work of the fabulous [Synty Studios](https://www.syntystudios.com/) for the most part so we can't take credit, although like I mentioned above, putting all that together with decent lighting is still a big effort over 3 days so any graphics score should be for the design/layout/UI and lighting and not the work on the models since that is not ours to be honest :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-04T14:05:19Z

@hagamosvideojuegos Thank you for checking it out! Sorry for any undue stress! It definitely makes you feel a little like being pulled many directions in an actual office haha :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-04T15:57:31Z

@sleepymenace lol thank you! :) Kate is in the office at the SE (bottom right), she's the CEO of "Running Man". Thank you so much for the wonderful comments :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-04T15:58:27Z

@sillyman987 Thank you for the lovely comments! Haha, we found the best strategy was to carry a few coffees around (they don't seem to mind if they're not hot!) or maybe 2 coffees, a mop and a fire extinguisher :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-04T19:53:10Z

@eugenik thank you! :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-05T14:13:42Z

@parkuhrmd Thank you for the comments! Absolutely, that first play through will likely be over fast as you figure out where things are :) There is a map on the in game wall when you start but it doesn't really tell you exactly where to find things for sure. Perhaps even an "explore the office" mode where you can go see everything casually would serve well. Maybe for post-jam we can add something like this :)

I've definitely also not had inventory space for needed things at some point haha :) There is a total of 4 objects that can be picked up and the coffee cup is probably the one worth carrying multiples of at least :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-05T14:16:05Z

@fabula-rasa Thank you for playing and for the comments! :) Definitely, probably the worst/best thing is how hard it is the first run not knowing anything... but then again probably exactly what it would be like on the first day haha. You got it on holding inventory for sure!

Noted on feedback, we wanted more sounds (some events don't have any even) but we were adding that in the last hour so time just ran out on that. People making noises like "FIRE!" was pretty much next up on the list :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-05T14:26:23Z

@fabula-rasa that's a pretty good score too! I think the highest I've seen is low 5000s (from one of our team's kids). I'll add a note asking people to share :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-05T22:07:35Z

@geronimo Thank you! The mini map has been vastly improved now to include walls (makes a huge difference), but we have to wait till the jam is over to update :) I'll add a section for it up top since we've had some awesome feedback that we have to wait on due to the jam rules :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-05T22:08:28Z

@profundity Thank you for the feedback and for sure! We have some updates coming post jam for improvement. They just have to wait due to the rules but I'll note them in the readme above :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-06T22:21:04Z

@Savolae Thank you! As mentioned above, the models and textures are licensed from [Synty Studios](https://www.syntystudios.com/) (they are amazing, I definitely recommend checking them out!) and the audio is 100% tracks I have purchased as well. That really cuts down on some of the work of course, and allows for 3 days of design and development. Definitely still a lot of work, but without those two things it would take longer to get going.

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-06T22:22:15Z

@justaroom Thank you! Indeed, we didn't do a lot of optimization and we needed some more tweaking with lighting. It is likely the post-jam versions will be a bit smoother overall. Apologies if it detracted from the experience!

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-07T01:51:37Z

@pureimprov Thank you! There is actually a Windows and Mac build attached above too (around 100MB) :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-09T21:32:44Z

@mrbamboo The most important mission! :) In our case that would be bringing Kate (bottom left office, CEO) her coffee haha. It's a good theme for 10 seconds since it's a hectic timeline for events and most people can relate to a hectic office :) I'll give yours a go in a moment :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-10T19:20:13Z

@armenbalian Thank you for playing and for the comments! We acknowledge that the learning curve is a bit steep since you have to learn the layout to be able to effectively tackle multiple fast-paced incidents. The first post-jam patch will help a bit by adding a better mini-map and some better audio feedback amongst other things :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-12T00:23:33Z

@langotriel Haha, enough practice and it's not so bad! Granted this particular janitor is also an IT expert, fireman, and tri-athlete :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-20T17:14:56Z

@dreamerflow Thank you for the feedback! For the fires, do you mean the interact button didn't appear to work even with the fire extinguisher in the inventory? In general we have improved the feedback (added success and failure sounds for tasks for example) for the first post-jam version but I'd be curious if maybe the area was too small or something else was causing that :) Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-20T23:27:29Z

@dreamerflow Your English is perfect, friend :) And that feedback is valued, thank you again! :)

Rough Day by PicusBGames 2022-10-21T14:50:14Z

@dreamerflow amazing! :) And I always love to get feedback. Feel free to check the state out with the post jam update either on the above linked itch.io page or my own here https://picusb.itch.io/. Both will be updated most likely post jam at least once. I will probably need testers for a larger mobile project this year too :)

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-04T14:16:20Z

Hey great idea, good execution and a fun little game! Like @human-writes-code gave me a bit of a sid meier's pirates vibe (good thing!) although I definitely got the firing and evading... won the game on the second try :)

Resource: Remixed by Phillip Scott 2022-10-04T16:33:33Z

Very pretty game though there doesn't really seem to be any real danger. Very chill, pretty and relaxing :)

Imminent by T90. 2022-10-04T14:29:54Z

Intense and of course relevant, and made me realize I'm a "doomscroller" some days :) Well done, I wasn't very good at it but pretty clear how it works and the narrative taking place makes it incredibly intense. Good work and for sure chopped features are all part of really short timelines! But great work with the resources at hand :) Would be cool to be able to skip the intro for future play throughs (just a nice to have!).

Imminent by T90. 2022-10-04T18:52:08Z

@fedir interesting, while I saw mention of DPR and Donetsk I figured we were a UKR launcher. Regardless my feedback and opinion is based on the game not the stance of the creators on the actual conflict which in fact do not align with mine at all.

Impact-Effect by IdeasPerSecond 2022-10-03T23:58:40Z

Really well presented game :) I quite liked it :)

HACK THE PLANET by jess from online 2022-10-04T00:05:15Z

Hey there! :) I got to your itch page but the link is incorrect... You have an extra undrescore character on the link here (it should be https://jessfromonline.itch.io/hack-the-planet)

HACK THE PLANET by jess from online 2022-10-04T01:01:20Z

@jess-from-online yep it was fixed but I guess I closed the page before adding my next comment haha... Which was this was pretty fun and unique among what I've seen so far. Looks like a lot of good creative effort went into this :)

THE WORLD NEEDS BISCUITS! by PureImprov 2022-10-05T04:51:50Z

lol, definitely original can't say I've ever seen anything like it! :) I had some issues grabbing biscuits after a bit but that might be my age and eyes rather than anything in the game lol :)

Darkwater Dispatch by Gryph0n 2022-10-03T23:54:24Z

Pretty fun but I don't see any relation to the theme unfortunately :(

Chicken Produced All (Clicker game) by Wendy222 2022-10-03T23:40:21Z

Pretty cute and unexpected :) I got to 10 I think :)

Elemental Shrine by Correia de Brito 2022-10-04T00:53:15Z

It's cute :) I think having the bullets that hit enemies make an effect would help in the first round or so to know that they did something. How to play menu seems broken I'd recommend removing it if it's an axed feature :)

Deep Down There by juna8001 2022-10-04T01:31:47Z

Really great idea and well executed :) Even the how to play menus are very well put together. Great work all around. I definitely got smoked the first game before I figured things out...

Minute Monet by Christina Salem 2022-10-05T00:53:11Z

Great idea and well executed! :) My fiancé liked it though she didn't like being limited to 10 seconds haha :) This was her creation: masterpiece.png

It's Snake, But Every 10 Seconds The Food Turns Into Walls by Aristurtle 2022-10-05T00:20:25Z

A basic idea and a retro game turned into something new for the theme of the jam :) Well done, I quite enjoyed it and you might not have made the music but it fit quite well :)
