Really solid entry! Loved the execution of the shadow monster - it was very terrifying! Good balance of looting and shooting. Really fun.

This game is really beautifull
Oh really good survival horror game. Cool music and sound efects, shadow monster was well done, I have no complains here. Good job.
Took me a few tries to realize that there were crates and the "protection light" was ASKING for 5 batteries instead of supposed to GIVE me them.
Incredibly atmospheric! Really enjoyed this.
Wonderful graphics style
Well done! I love monster animation/effects. Overall prety good!
Cool idea. I like the menus and story behind the game. Even though no game music is on, that sound effect when the enemy hits the light kept the suspension going very well. If you added an option to skip intro slides that would be great (so that restarting is faster). Nice game overall!
Good job!
Very nice, I wasn't really good ad it but definitly a good work :)
Wonderful style, loved the game's moody atmosphere!
I got scared. I never actually fired a shot in the end, the flashlight seemed like the better option. Could the shadow monster actually be killed?
Very strong mood! I love how the enemies chase and fly around you, really made me feel like a prey the whole time. It took a while for me to understand why i couldn't interact with the safe light at the beginning, maybe it could have helped having some loot very close to the spawn in order to better recognize it more easily later on!
Nice game, controls are nice and the light usage is very good!
I loved the atmosphere. The audio worked well with the light and the monster roar was truly chilling. The shadow monster reminds me of Don't Starve, by the way :). The player character is somewhat too small, in my opinion and it felt strange that he is always facing the same way, independent of movement direction. I also spawned once stuck near the big rock. Could not walk anywhere for a little while, was just walking in place.
Well done entry for this game jam! :) Right mix of mood, atmosphere and length here! Future ideas for simple expansion: add extraction point to get to with an aggressive holding off of shadow monster and local fauna (didn't find a use for the laser? Can you shoot the shadow thing?).
That monster scared the crap out of me. Great mood and ambience.
I liked the game! I beat it at the third time and I liked the suspense as it added a cool atmosphere that suited your game! Really good!
I like the idea of protection light. The gameplay is a bit repeating for me
I think you have a great basis or an absolutely amazing horror experience, but it's just missing some balance. First of all, I think supplies are way too common. I ended up having like 15 medkits by the end of the game. the only think was really balanced was the batteries, as I only had around 2 by the end of the game. I think the encounters should actually be way less common, as it makes more terrifying when it happens. After I understood the game enough, I didn't use the bullets once. There was just no reason to as the light would ward them off anyways. Maybe the flashlight could slow the enemies and the bullets could actually scare them off? I think the light beacon was way too powerful, and using it was just boring because I'd just sit there for a few minutes while I was completely invincible. I also don't really get how this is related to the theme (not that this means the game has any less potential) I hope my criticisms don't come off as too harsh, and I only bring them up because I absolutely love the atmosphere and base gameplay, I just think the balancing needs some work. Great job on this game!
Really great job. I was confused at first at how to survive but once I got the hang of flicking my flashlight on to defend myself, it was easy to explore around and find the crates until the ship arrived. As Tednesday said above I didn't see much use for the gun but it wasn't really an issue, just something that could maybe be tweaked or removed. This game had nice graphics and audio and a lot of atmosphere. Well done!
The monster is really well designed. Game is tense till the end. Protection light feels just like a safe haven and the more the game goes, the further you have to move away from it. Very good entry.
Good mood and atmosphere!
Great job! I liked the atmosphere of it, i wont lie to you, it scared me a few times, but once you played for a while it loses its fear factor, you get used to just aim at it, maybe adding another mechanics when close to the final day fits well.
Also, please check out my game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-last-hope-1
After dying in the first couple of encounters with the shadow monster I think I accidentally glitched through to land where it no longer existed and was able to handle my crate harvesting in peace. That said, the initial encounters with it were so effective that even though the Shadow Monster wasn't there, I was still SUPER TENSE. "Oh it's getting dark right this second? RUNRUNRUN to the light!"
The one thing that could probably use improvement is the visibility of the crates, but otherwise the game is very simple and evocative, and everything worked beautifully (except for that one monster absence). Nicely done!
I loved the mood! Efficient gameplay but pretty hard to survive all these days :D
Couldn't figure out how to fight the monster. I thought the graphics and audio were very well done though!
Hello! Many thanks to everyone for positive comments!
@debuggerpls Hi, there should be music - starting in main menu then follows into the main game. I've checked both builds: Win & WebGl - both OK. Good idea re skipping intro text - will add it in next version.
@tednesday Hello, no - you can not kill the Shadow entity! At least not with the conventional weapons :)
@superpatch Hi, there are 2 loot crates within approx 10-15m from starting location, left and right :)
@fabula-rasa Hi, will address it in next version, thank you for your input.
@picusbgames Yes, laser at the moment only scares off the Shadow Hint: It gives you more "relief" that the flashlight :) (+5 sec attack cool-down)
@brzyrt Thank you for your comment - yes the loot balance will be addressed in next verison. Re main light / beacon - got some ideas how to make it more balanced. In regards to the theme: "Keep it alive" - you are keeping your character and light sources "alive" in order to beat the game :) :)
@vesper Will check the bugs / glitches - Thanks!
@kevin-sun You can't - you can only scare it off and try to survive till the rescue will arrive :)
Loved it !!!
shadow monster creeped me out! well made, i suppose. good ambience.

Version 2.0 has been released!
Thanks for playing my game! It was a pleasure playing yours, the shadow monster was very well done and the sounds were brillaint. This is one of the only game jam games that actually has a real win condition and i felt like the difficulty was tuned perfectly for players like me. I didn't have to stress too much but i also couldn't be idle. Very well done! (Also highest Audio score i've given so far out of over 100 submissions)
Thanks for submitting your game to our stream!
It was fun to play and a bit scary to be honest. I feel like shadows were hunting me
I liked the art and sound and overall feeling of the game. You know about the bugs we discovered ;)
