LD46 — Keep it alive

Its Adventure by recursor 2020-04-23T18:06:36Z

I like the innovation here, the mechanic of summoning is a really cool idea, but there were several spots I got stuck simply because I had no idea what you wanted me to type

Ages of New Earth by HitchH1k3r 2020-04-23T04:58:55Z

I'm not big on 4x (if you call this a 4x) games, but this was a neat one. The limited scope gave rise to some neat mechanics. Nicely done.

The Gentleman by micahlg 2020-04-23T04:55:56Z

Ridiculously fun, this concept should not work as good as it does. Love it.

Reeactor by Ace17 2020-04-23T18:13:10Z

I just mashed things together until it worked, the puzzles leave a lot to be desired, but overall it's still a creative idea.

Apple Factory of the Insatiable by nanolotl 2020-04-23T03:54:38Z

A really unique deckbuilder. I'm not really a fan of the genre, but you managed to pull some interesting twists and make something real neat!

A.D.A.M and E.V.E by Almax 2020-04-23T00:04:34Z

Killer audio and I love the PS1 stylization of your graphics. The humor is on point and overall it's just a fun arcadey game. Nice work!

Torcher by Evergreen Games 2020-04-23T04:16:07Z

Some nice puzzles, as others commented, it would be nice to have a tutorial, there's a great game hidden by a lack of instruction here.

Soul Survivor by fakefrogsonly 2020-04-23T00:58:14Z

Nice concept for a game! Love the soul tracking mechanic combined with the point collection mechanic, keeps you on your toes and keeps a risk / reward style of gameplay.

Secret Protection by dcrdro 2020-04-23T18:10:59Z

I made it to 102, alright game, nice and arcade like. I had fun with it, just wish there was a bit more to it.

FlappyDot by mutuware 2020-04-21T02:24:51Z

It's a good flappy clone, but felt a bit awkward to control, even for the genre

Birb Island by ursagames 2020-04-23T03:09:47Z

Liked the scope of this one, one of the more ambitious compo entries I've seen. I liked your graphical style and the stuff to do on the island. I wish there were sound effects, but overall this was really good!

Last Lantern by tacohej 2020-04-29T19:37:40Z

Really good game! Easy to understand yet super engaging. I really liked the stark visual style, contributed a lot to the moodiness and polish of the game. Nice job.

Abidance by Kriss 2020-04-21T16:31:06Z

Wonderful style, loved the game's moody atmosphere!

Socks by rainbowism 2020-04-22T04:56:37Z

I haven't seen too many takes on the theme in this direction, nice job!

Last journey in the sand by squirrelsoft 2020-04-23T03:51:18Z

As you said there's a lot of bugs, but there's still a game to be enjoyed here! It seems you have a nice sart to something and you should be proud of that. :)

I I R O by Dis0rder 2020-04-29T19:35:42Z

This was such a moody game, I gotta hand it to you for that., I love the aesthetic style it had me roped in from the first sight of it.

5G Tower Defence by walnoot 2020-04-29T19:57:18Z

This is hilarious, I was laughing nearly every second of my time with it. It's a fun game too! Nice job.

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-21T02:15:46Z

Really impressive stuff! I enjoyed my time with the game and found it to be a nice challenge with buttery smooth graphics and sound to match. Really quality work, best game I've played thus far.

Robositter Infernal by Phlip45 2020-04-22T23:54:37Z

You really nailed the humor in this one, the game itself I found to be a bit jank at times, but nothing too bad. It's fun to go around and kill stuff as a baby! Hehe

Life: 42 Cells by kara 2020-04-29T19:53:34Z

As a big nerd, I love Conway's Game of Life, this is a really neat take on it! Thank you for making something for John, I was sad to hear of his passing.

Comboboy by Peter Jonsson 2020-04-23T04:53:49Z

Really good game! Nice mechanics, really had me thinking on my feet. Good job!

Burndown by Symnel 2020-04-23T00:13:41Z

I enjoyed the game, everything worked the way it was supposed to and I survived the night. I wish there was a bit more to do, but I'm not sure what I'd add.

Get off my Planet! by CrumblyBread 2020-05-03T03:50:07Z

It's a good shooter and I had a lot of fun with it, but I ran into a few glitches while playing the game.

Keep LD Servers Alive by Johnny Turbo 2020-04-23T02:37:57Z

Funny concept

Retrospective Sparks by kikiriki367 2020-04-23T18:02:25Z

The game is neat, nice art style. I found it challenging, but I think that's what you were going for. I got through it, good game!

Beam Slinger by egawag 2020-04-23T21:51:49Z

Wow! Great visuals and a really neat mechanic, I really liked this one.

Hunting a Cure by jellycopter 2020-04-23T22:07:53Z

Really like your pixel art style, nice and strak, good choice of color and serves the gameplay well. Nicely done.

Courier of Fire by Balgorode 2020-04-21T04:59:18Z

Really liked your game, had some good fun throwing the fire around and trying not to extingish it. A few of the levels are janky and difficult to navigate. However, it's a really creative take on the "dont let the fire go out" kind of games!

Don't Crack by Weirdybeardyman 2020-04-21T05:01:47Z

Had to grab a friend for this one, not too many multiplayer games in Ludum Dare, so this was a nice change of pace. Had a lot of fun being the egg try to not get smashed.

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-20T21:37:27Z

Controls a bit rough, but it's a good bit of fun once you get used to it.

It's Just a Burning Memory by Kent Reese 2020-04-21T14:07:46Z

@sausty huh, I thought I had made it keyboard agnostic by using GetAxis instead of strict GetInput, thanks for letting me know!

It's Just a Burning Memory by Kent Reese 2020-04-22T14:41:25Z

@lakrits yeah I had trouble with it in testing and gave it a ridiculously large collider, but it didn't seem to help, if I had more time I would have tried finding out what the issue was.

It's Just a Burning Memory by Kent Reese 2020-04-23T00:17:42Z

@johannimations it's an admittedly obtuse connection to the theme but the whole sense of you're doing this ghost's? man's? thing's? wishes to regain a sense of the past and "keep it alive"

It's Just a Burning Memory by Kent Reese 2020-04-23T00:31:27Z

@uberardy yeah I'm not sure *why* the web build can't be fullscreened, I never explicitly disallowed it, as far as Linux builds go, I can upload one tonight, only reason I didn't in the first place is that my internet is super slow so it's hard to upload anything.

TIME TO BREATHE by Dmitry Kaidash 2020-04-21T17:17:33Z

This game is amazing! Wonderful graphical style and a level of polish you don't really expect from game jam games.

Press 'Till The End by Baesama 2020-04-23T04:07:26Z

Nice game, my main criticism is that you're using rar, I'd advise you use zip to ship your files as not everyone has WinRAR or other programs that open rar files.

Outpowered by LCStark 2020-04-23T18:47:58Z

Nice game! I really like the tower defense combined with exploration aspect to it, felt original!

Conway's Garden of Life by davidsheadgames 2020-04-23T18:51:08Z

Nice way of making a tribute to Conway. I really liked this entry.

Virtual Pet: No escape from Life by MickM 2020-04-22T23:42:33Z

You don't give yourself enough credit, this is a good game! Really like the aesthetic you chose, and the game play elements fit well with the theme. A solid entry!

Memory of the Fallen by Axefall 2020-04-23T03:46:45Z

As someone who took a similar approach to the "Keep It Alive" theme, I have to give you kudos for that. However, there's a few problems I had when playing, the biggest being there's a lot of empty navigating with nothing else happening alot of the time. This is a really ambitious game for a jam though and good on you for getting it done and submitted.

To The Bunker! by BBApps 2020-04-23T01:00:36Z

Funny game, nice execution of what would otherwise be a dull bob and weave fest. Controls felt good, difficulties felt appropriate, really enjoyed my time with this game.

The Great Return by Attala 2020-04-21T04:13:03Z

A nice frogger twist of a game with an interesting mechanic, took some getting used to but I got it! Nice work.

FTL ON by rolferm 2020-04-22T05:05:58Z

I liked the overall game, it's a bit simple, but a nice game overall. Keep at it!

K.I.A.-MANIA by yanoshick 2020-04-23T18:31:38Z

Played this on my Android phone, it's a nice game, but felt a bit odd. Also if you borrowed or derived assets you should opt out in the respective categories.

The Well of the Past by Chocolat-Endive 2020-04-21T04:32:01Z

Nice story, I loved it. The premise is novel and it fits well with the theme.

Crab Castle Crisis by Spex130 2020-05-01T02:55:04Z

I had to clone your git project to get things to work, even then I don't think I got them work quite as intended. you guys need to fix the download ASAP.

Super Realistic Parachute Simulator by hamrathdoesldjam 2020-04-22T23:51:34Z

Neat little game! Reminded me of old flash games I used to play when I was younger. It's fun and it fits the theme, not much more I could ask.

How It Bites by Fire_phantom7 2020-04-21T16:28:56Z

It says on your itch page that you haven't posted anything yet, perhaps you got the wrong link / your game might be in draft form? Make sure that your Visibility & Access part of your itch page settings looks like this: directions.png

How It Bites by Fire_phantom7 2020-04-23T01:20:04Z

The sire hitbox is a bit odd, but I managed to survive, a neat little game!

Green Dream by Trusty 2020-04-21T16:24:45Z

A nice simulator, but even if the instructions I found things to be a little vague and hard to understand. However, my plants lived long happy live and I'm a proud father.

Lifelink by IanLux 2020-04-23T01:10:23Z

Wow! Really slick style and presentation, was floored by how good this game looks, plays good too! Nice work.

The Wizard Gardener by Crazybot 2020-04-23T01:04:34Z

Super thrilled by the ending of this game, it makes everything worth it. Nice job!

Cardboard Frank by Beardmage 2020-04-23T04:21:24Z

Had an absolute blast with this one (figuratively and literally) what a great take on a city protector sim, nice graphics, solid gameplay with nice controls, everything feels so polished for a game jam game. Astounding work.

Nature of Fear by Omickron 2020-04-23T17:58:20Z

There's a few awkward misspellings "Congratilation" but overall the game is fun to play and has a really nice moody art style.

Cursed Children by Monkey Knight 2020-04-23T21:55:41Z

There's a few hiccups in the experience, ran into a lot of control issues, but otherwise a solid experience.

Enduring Toddel by WhyNotYT 2020-05-01T03:07:34Z

Overall it's a solid experience, but there were a few confusing minigames that have already been mentioned in this thread.

Keep it (Alfred) Alive by DrkDavis 2020-04-23T21:53:38Z

Nice casual game, I could see myself playing this as a distraction while I'm supposed to be working.

Eggscuse me! by ToC 2020-04-22T23:48:32Z

Love all the little details you put into this game! The level design is really well done and it felt good to progress.

Chip and Run by Elektroney 2020-04-23T17:51:34Z

I like the game overall, but the platforming was a bit difficult at times, if anything I'd focus on making the controls as tight as possible.

Jelly Mum by frax 2020-04-23T22:05:20Z

I like it! Really liked your art direction and the game loop you had going. Camrea angles made things a bit awkward at times but nothing too bad. Nice entry!

Starship & Hull by Mastoast 2020-04-21T02:12:20Z

A neat game! Liked the tutorial and narration, controls are smooth but I feel off the spaceship once.

Eggbert II by senar93 2020-04-23T00:52:20Z

A neat concept for a strategy game, surprised you got it all done within the jam. It's really robust and I had a lot of fun, I ran into the known bug on level 4, but I found it worth my time to restart and try the whole game again rather than not see it to completion. Nice work.

School is Canceled by Nick Rasmussen 2020-04-21T02:04:26Z

This is amazing! Wonderful job.

The horse needs help by WhiteFox 2020-04-23T18:15:14Z

A really nice first game, straightforward but really enjoyable. Nice job, hope you keep making games!

Gate Ball by Zyllen 2020-04-23T03:42:01Z

A cool take on croquet, liked the visual style, though as some commentators have pointed out it's easier to just use WASD than to hit the ball.

DiscoPuzzle Flooring Inc. by Marxy 37 2020-04-21T16:19:56Z

This is a really good puzzle game! I'm not sure how it fits with the theme exactly, but it's loads of fun.

Sukiyaki RUNNER Grisha by danek 2020-05-03T03:47:14Z

I liked the weird and abrasive style you put into your game. Very nicely done.

Virus Infect by woody 2020-04-22T05:09:18Z

Overall a really solid first game jam game, nice and simple mechanic with solid execution. Hope you participate in more game jams!

Big Brain Simulator by desces 2020-05-03T02:12:05Z

Really well done! Nice graphical style and your level layout is very nice.

Protect the jar by Luc Arnould 2020-04-29T19:55:49Z

There were a few jank moments where it felt like I couldn't stop the items from hitting the jar, but otherwise it was a fun little game. Nice work!

Devil Egg by devilskeyStudio 2020-04-23T04:18:44Z

Kind of hard to figure out, but it's a really good game once you do! I'd suggest adding some sort of tutorial or instructions on the itch page. Nice work.

The Race Against Death by Salmonmeagar 2020-04-21T04:23:47Z

Honestly scared me that first time. Nice little racing game

Light of hope by retrome 2020-04-21T05:04:09Z

The art style is nice and the game has a nice gameplay loop.

Baby On Board by bittripbrit 2020-04-29T19:51:46Z

Nice to see a Source game in this competition, you don't see these too often anymore. I liked this game's sense of humor and the multiplayer aspect was a lot of fun, my gmod friends and I loved it.

Radiohead by Sausty 2020-04-20T19:11:43Z

Nice game! Really liked your gameplay loop and the microgames.

a funeral. by otterdisgrace 2020-04-23T03:57:21Z

For your first Unity game it's totally understandable you ran into some hiccups, we all do when starting out! Hope you're encouraged to make more things and see your skills with the engine improve over time. Your game shows real promise, if you had a better handle on the tools themselves I'm sure it would have been great. Keep at it!

Dragon Defender by Isiah Brighton 2020-04-30T19:03:42Z

I liked the tower defense mechanics of this one and your sense of progression. However, a lot of information was unclear / unexplained and it took a while to learn the mechanics. However after the learning curve it's a neat little game. Nice work.

BEHEMOTH by wazawoo 2020-04-23T17:56:25Z

Nice game, I was a bit confused at first but whenn figured out how to move it all made sense. Good job!

Bacterium by Alvan Arulandu 2020-04-23T04:09:58Z

Make sure your itch page is public so people can see it, otherwise no one can play your game and rate it! directions.png

Royally F*ed by Daanvd 2020-04-21T16:34:28Z

Very good for a first attempt guys! Hope you continue working it at it and learning. There's a few bugs in the game but it's still very good overall.

BOXBATTLE by Magnus Ekroth 2020-04-22T04:59:06Z

Great job for a first game jam game! Had a lot of fun with my brother with this one.

Patty & the Cannon by hiisileiri 2020-04-23T00:07:32Z

Nice job! It was a bit hard to figure out but once you get the hang of the controls it's a good bit of fun! As @pilarius said, adding a thumbnail for your game can attract a lot more players!

Meet God Under the Neon Lights by Systematic 2020-04-23T04:23:43Z

Very nice style, loved the narrative you've got going on here, super moody environment, I dig it all.

Baby Simulator by EdZ123 2020-04-23T04:45:32Z

The best game of the jam. Wonderful, a beautiful exploration of the trials of parenthood.

Draguinho by Vini Explorer 2020-04-29T21:33:59Z

I really like your art direction and admire you attempting and succeeding game dev at such a young age. The controls were a bit clunky and the audio kind of meh, but the whole game was all done. I also really like your video, good job!

The last tree by DeadBoyGames 2020-04-21T16:36:17Z

The feel of this game is amazing, really like the effort that went into the arranging of all the graphical, audio, and gameplay elements to make something cohesive.

Get To The Chopper! by DevParty 2020-04-22T23:45:41Z

I ran into a few glitches with my copper flying offscreen and some weird missile behavior, but otherwise a fine submission! Nice job.

Dodge & Cover by Gaminghamster 2020-04-22T23:59:16Z

It's a good idea for a game, but there's a few things I have issue with. It's hard to see depth, it's a bit difficult to control, and the game is super exploitable if you just set it up right. It's by no means a bad game, but there's some room for improvement.

THE IMMORTALITY AMULET by abk507 2020-05-03T04:04:47Z

Some things were hard to see with the background and aesthetic you chose, but I had a good time with the game once I figured it out.

Lettuce Be Friends by YaakGold 2020-04-23T00:10:32Z

There's a lot of game here which is super impressive! Hope you continue improving it!

Convaser by DecrementedPalindrome 2020-05-03T02:40:03Z

Nice pick up and play game, like how the difficultly scales.

Crates N' Gates by HireMeDeveloper 2020-04-21T04:35:25Z

Had some issues with the crowbar and a getting past some of the gates and opening crates, but other than the minor hiccups, it was a really fun game with some s i c k audio and presentation
