I wasn't really sure how to play it  I did click around for a fair bit of time. I enjoy the cell "simulation", I just couldn't figure out how to beat it before I got too bored. Good job anyways!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → Life: 42 Cells

interesting concept but very confusing
Well done, though I could only get up to 26 as my best score! I also used Conway's Game of Life as the inspiration for my entry (as you know). Yours is a clever take on the Game of Life.
i think is good, but maybe you need to put some menu or tutorial for new players nice job
Really unique! It took me a while to grasp the principle but in the end I got there (43 cells).
Cool little game, wasn't to sure how to play tho. :S
But cool simulations! Keep on going!
DAAAMN IT WAS SO FUN! It was a very good idea to turn Conway's game of life in a little game like this! The way you have to experiment to understand how the particles works is very cool! Great entry!
Game of life for the win =) Very cool idea to use it like this!
Way more fun than I thought it was going to be! I actually feel like I've learned a lttle bit about the still-lives in game of life. To win I needed to find ways to consistently transform one still life into another (or group of others). A lot of fun! My only request is that you let me keep playing beyond 42 points
Its a great idea, although a bit hard to try and predict what would get destroyed and what would live. The cell behavior was a bit too random for me. It'd be really nice to see a system where it is easier to predict how the player's actions might influence the game to enable more skill-based playing. Just felt a bit too random for me
A clever way to gamefy the game of life. Good job! I wish there were a tutorial-reminder of the rules, so there would be no need to look it up.
Brilliant idea to combine the rules of GO + the rules of Game of Life. Now, the game of life is an actual game.
With a bit of trial and error you start to discover certain stable patterns, and you can actually manage to go more-or-less towards a goal.

I fear, once you've figured out how it works, the replay value is limited. Perhaps you could do a two-player mode, where the computer keeps track of who captured which area?
Have you thought about submitting to Conway's jam of life as well? https://itch.io/jam/conways-jam
As a big nerd, I love Conway's Game of Life, this is a really neat take on it! Thank you for making something for John, I was sad to hear of his passing.
This is a great homage to Conway, and a fun experiment with his most well-known work. Kudos!
