I had a hard time in the level with the spinning thing. I love the game concept. The gameplay is very fun. I missed some background music. Also I would like the "water" to have more contrast, it was hard for me to see on some parts of the game (colorblind). Nice work!

This is cool! Really well-designed puzzles—the levels do a good job of introducing all the mechanics. Platforming can be a little finicky in places, but at least you can easily restart when you mess up. Nice job!

batswinger 2020-04-21 00:37

Nice game, love the idea and the execution. Some parts were a little hard, because you could't reach further out than the resolution when shooting. But i made it though! Awesome game, well done

jaschez 2020-04-21 00:37

Very nice level design and variety of mechanics. Overall is a pretty funny game!

jproclaimer 2020-04-21 00:38

It's a fun game! I liked that you were able to implement a variety of mechanics, and the introduction levels were did a good job of teaching the player how to play the game. As just a minor critique, I think you should get rid of the "E" button as interact, and just use the mouse for throwing and opening doors. I don't know if it plays out later in the game, but having two interact buttons (mouse and E) seems a little redundant. Great game though!

SUCH GOOD LEVEL DESIGNS. Really polished puzzles were fun to play and rewarding to figure out, nice :D

thefoppian 2020-04-21 00:53

Solid game! I liked the different wall types and the level design. Could have maybe used some music, even just some royalty free stuff from online. Pretty fun!

henriquecanella 2020-04-21 02:36

Very nice puzzle game. Really liked the mechanics :D

fizzyapple12 2020-04-21 04:51

While I have seen a lot of "Keep the fire alive" games on here, this one is truly unique. The way you keep this fire alive is unlike any other I have seen. The puzzle aspect of having to throw the fire around while trying to not douse it in water was super fun and the simplistic art style was nice! Awesome game!

kent-reese 2020-04-21 04:59

Really liked your game, had some good fun throwing the fire around and trying not to extingish it. A few of the levels are janky and difficult to navigate. However, it's a really creative take on the "dont let the fire go out" kind of games!

shouji 2020-04-21 05:08

Good game! I like the concept a lot! The wormhole challenge was really hard though!

triggthediscovery 2020-04-21 05:09

Cool physics mechanics + good level design = a pretty good game. As mentioned by others, the way mechanics are slowly introduced, and then combined in new and interesting ways keeps the game interesting long past where most of these games peter out.

kookiedough 2020-04-21 05:10

very good game and concept. i think i did the black hole levels incorrect but nonetheless a great game.

balgorode 2020-04-21 06:11

@triggthediscovery Thanks! I'm actually so glad people liked the game, I haven't really made puzzle before, so I spent some time during the compo watching videos about what makes a good puzzle. xD

balgorode 2020-04-21 06:18

@rjerez192 Thanks for the feedback! In terms of music, I wish it had some, but I am really awful at making it so I didn't bother. Another comment mentioned just getting some royalty free music online, sort of wish I did that but also I prefer making everything myself. Though what you said about the water contrast is a very good point, it's not something I thought about because as the dev I had no problems seeing it, but that is something I really should be more conscious about in future projects.

codsalmon 2020-04-21 14:36

I enjoyed the game. The puzzles were engaging and the mechanics were enjoyable.

rendow 2020-04-21 16:30

The puzzles were great, the black hole level was a good challenge! I would have liked to automatically enter doors when they are open, I accidentically reset the level multiple times when trying to enter. The physics on the ball felt great. Well done overall!

furtive-pygmy 2020-04-21 20:48

Great game, the controls and physics felt really good. A bit of music would have gone a long way, but the core game is great.

I felt the spike ball getting destroyed when touching a brazier was a bit punishing for a missed throw :(

jake-marks 2020-04-22 04:18

I love puzzlers where you can whip things as hard as you can! Really cool little game, makes me what to try to design a puzzle game.

It is a pretty neat puzzle game! The mechanics are superb, you can polish it and make an entire game built around this! The only thing it lacks is proper sound, the same loud effect gets old pretty fast.

I still really enjoyed it! It was quite challenging too, but enough for a puzzle game. One of my favorites.

vivek-sharma20 2020-04-23 05:57

Hey nice game, You put a lot of effort into stage design and the game mechanics work well with your game. Graphics can be one area where you can do something different, or use a different minimalistic style.

carlix 2020-04-23 09:26

It was simple but the mechanics were so clear. Level design was clever and difficulty scalated smoothly.

Overall it was a fun experience, thank you very much for your game!

The game was really cool. I really like how the physics worked. The restart button was a fantastic tool to use haha! The game was fun and a great entry!

scott-steffes 2020-04-24 06:47

Very similar, but also very different ours. I like how you can walk up the water and how you can relight the fire using the braziers you've already lit. It is definitely more of a puzzle experience where you can stop for a second and think about what to do, whereas in ours it forces you to just go. It took me a while to figure out that you don't need the fire to go through the exit and also It seemed like it the door should just take you to the next level instead of having to specifically interact with it.

emperor-eagle 2020-04-24 08:44

Great game! I especially liked how you could reignite the ball. The puzzle aspect was really good and was pitched at the right difficulty. Some improvements: softness on the edges of sprites to make them look cooler and shadows. Good job overall! I enjoyed it!

aeveis 2020-04-29 04:37

I beat it! I like the amount of puzzle mechanics you were able to get in. I think being able to relight the flame allows for a pretty deep puzzle space to work with as it introduces order of operations (having to do things in a certain order and figuring out what it is). The physics with rope cutting and black holes were also very nice. Being able to travel farther in water was also a nice touch since then it's not just something that puts out fire. Nice job!

slimbun 2020-04-30 07:36

Great game! I played it for way too long. If you didn't tell as this was your first puzzle game, I wouldn't noticed that. I noticed that your smart balanced is very low, and it doesn't need to be like that for a game like that. Please play and rate other games.

alexey-kuzovkov 2020-05-01 07:34

Cool game mechanics! It's an interesting game to play.

supernapie 2020-05-01 15:13

I think the physics of the ball where really well done. It was so much fun to play around with. The e key to walk through the door wasn't needed. Just hit test the player with the door when it is open. That's the only remark i got :) Well done!

lcstark 2020-05-01 19:04

A really nice puzzle platformer! Great job on mixing different mechanics to create interesting levels.

I think it would be nice if every new mechanic introduced was explained a little bit. On level 1 you've added the text "beware the water" to make the player aware they should avoid putting the fire in it. You could expand on it and put more hints on further levels, like "use water to jump higher" on level 2 or "throw spikes at the cord to cut it" on level 5. The game could also use some background music, but I get how difficult it is to make everything in such a short time.

Oh, and as others have already said, the interaction button for the exit door isn't needed. Since you've opened the exit, you probably want to go through it anyway, just detect if the player entered unlocked door.

All in all, a well done LD entry. I enjoyed playing it. ;)

alexrose 2020-05-02 01:17

Pretty good puzzles for a game of this genre. I've played many similiar games but this one did have a lot of mechanics that wouldn't normally be in this kind of game. Good stuff.
